hey guysis bali any good?
Sure, if you don't mind seeing ugly middle-class people larping as rich.
>>2917295i'm ugly and middle class larping as rich
it's ok if you get a bike and drive as far away as you can from the shitty crowded tourist towns, but you'll still have to deal with insane Indonesians
>>2917299you'll fit right in friend
Yes. Rent a scooter and see the island that way. Most guesthouses do scooter rentals for cheap and let you keep it even if you spend a few days away. No license required (maybe legally but the guesthouse host almost laughed when I asked). Avoid Denpasar traffic as much as possible, that's the only really scary part. I went from Uluwatu to Ubud to Padang Bai and back with a scooter, the drive alone was a really fun.
>>2917295I'm poor and I want to larp as rich for two weeks
>>2917543>rents a scooter, crashes, larps as living the rest of his life while being a quadrapalegic
>>2917305My gf is indo and they really are a goofy people. If you're a sperg like me you will get along with them just fine
>>2917415I keep seeing people say OMG YOUR GONA DIE! if you rent a scooter, especially without a license.I did the Ha Giang loop (as solo driver) and have done scooters in philippines & india. Is it much different there? and what are the chances of being stopped by police?
>>2918090You will be fine until you get into an accident
>>2918090>Is it much different there?denser because Bali is way way too overcrowded. I've ridden in all those places and Bali riding is just a chore the whole time
>>2918090I've done the Ha Giang loop too, and also did Hanoi - Cat ba and back, plus riding in chill islands in Philippines, Thailand, and others. Definitely Bali was the worst, more so than even Lombok next door, because like >>2918485 said it's crowded and feels like a chore. However, for me that only applied to the area around Ubud and all the touristy beach towns south of there. I stayed for a while in Bedugul and it was great, was happy to have a motorbike there to blast around the rice fields and get to trailheads. I imagine the north coast is also chill. The only problem is getting out of Ubud or wherever you rented the thing. OP i advise you to go but don't go anywhere you've heard some brainless normie talk about, because Kuta, Canggu and Ubud are the poster children for overtourism. lots of hot ukranian and russians tho
>>2918812do you still enjoy going to Asia? or after all that, do you feel like there is nothing new to do and its just going out of habit, and less from deeply rooted desire?
>>2917724I find there are very little cultural differences as an American across most of Indonesia. They just have consumption taboos
>>2918815I love SEA, my wife and I are wage cucks and have a 1 year old so we only get a 2 week trip once a year. Grandparents love watching the baby, so we leave him for now. We normally invite a few friends to come along, but we do the itinerary first. Most people hate planning anyway.Because of the short trips I do a ton of research and planning, and we do the 'luxury' version of most things. This includes a few $200-400 hotels that would be $2-5k in Hawaii. SEA still feels like a cheat code to me vs going to Hawaii, Caribbean, or Yucatan. It's a good blend of safety, scenery, service, activities, cost, and culture. I'd love to take some much longer trips eventually. The only thing I can see getting sick of is worry about food poisoning and access to clean, high protein food and salads. I love the more chaotic cities as well. My favorites so far have been Mumbai, Bangkok, and Hanoi. I want to do a South America trip, just haven't decided on a location yet. Will venture more to Europe as well, maybe once my kid is old enough. Then we'll probably go to a few SEA places with him when it's easier and he can do more.
>>2918900powerful good vibes from this postbless the grandparents for their good nature
>>2918815I've been twice for 6+ months each time and I don't see myself going back for a while, not to SE Asia at least. India I would go back to because it's not boring, but SEA gets old after a few months of hedonism. There's a reason why it's full of gap year kids on their first trip away from home, it's easy safe and cheap. You can get a lot of stimulation but not much adventure. For a short trip like >>2918900 it's great and he makes a good point that it's better than most typical American int'l getaway destinations. Just depends on what ya want
>>2918900>I love the more chaotic cities as well. My favorites so far have been MumbaiKrishna bless u handsome kind man i love u
>>2919032I like how you're making fun of India but I'd love for a long grey haired indian to say to that to me.
