Anyone have experience working as a flight attendant? Thinking about quitting my current job and becoming one. I hear that the pay can be garbage on the first year and you'll be away from friends and family, obviously. However it seems like a good way to travel the world for relatively cheap.

Sure when you actually get on the proper routes to do it, or you could be stuck doing DFW base to Lawton, Lubbock, Amarillo, OKC for a few years. Not a lot of fun. It's a gamble and takes years to get on good routes IIRC.

The girl I was with basically never wanted to do much when they got to their destinations, maybe once every so often they had a 2-4 days "off" somewhere even worthwhile. That's after working sometimes a stupid long shift. The entire shit sounded dumb and gay because the pay and lack of job security during an economic downturn made things a nightmare. Not only that but the discounted rate hotels she would mention was always at the airport adjacent meaning you'd spend a good amount of time simply trying to GTFO of it. All her stories sounded horrible because a fair portion of her time at X place was on call or studying for some new FAA thing.

    >However it seems like a good way to travel the world for relatively cheap.
Or just get a good contract/seasonal job that pays well like CDL live in the midwest, work busy seasons, fuck off for a few months rinse and repeat. Same could be said for IT contract work.

What airline did she work for? I'm looking at Delta and they only have bases in major cities. They only have six on call days a month as well.
    >Or just get a good contract/seasonal job that pays well like CDL live in the midwest, work busy seasons, fuck off for a few months rinse and repeat. Same could be said for IT contract work.
Thought about becoming wildland firefighter for contract work if I ever did it. Unless something has changed in recent years, or are different in the midwest, CDL contract jobs weren't that great.

American/American partners, was out of PHX so a fair bit of options in terms of places to go. I asked a bit about it and dropped it they left too because it was just constant work, everything she did was like pics of (place) from 1 day she had off and then back again. Like if that's all you want is to say you were on your feet for 10 hours for a day or so of "being in place" go for it.
    >Thought about becoming wildland firefighter for contract work if I ever did it
LMFAO what even you're talking about wanting to make money. You know CDL people, at least in the USA, can net like avg 5-6k after taxes a month right? Sometimes more if you do crunch seasonal work.

You could easily do 6-8 on that, then 4-6 months off in Asia unless you're just trying to book some retard places. CDL is probably the most forgiving when it comes to any kinds of gaps because the industry is known for on demand labor.

    >>2916616
How long ago did she work at American? From what little research I've done it doesn't seem like it's a popular employer.
    >You know CDL people, at least in the USA, can net like avg 5-6k after taxes a month right? Sometimes more if you do crunch seasonal work.
Good luck getting that work of you don't have 10+ years. CDL jobs have been taken over by illegals and foreigners too. Those 5-6k a month jobs after taxes are the exception, not the rule. While wildland averages around 40k for half a year that's at least the average.
    >>
It takes a long time before you can work good routes. It’s extremely seniority based.
    >>
    >>2916649
This was a bit before covid, no clue what it's like now.
    >Good luck getting that work of you don't have 10+ years
lol even basic Amazon CDL truckers make something like 70k/yr, you could grind a year then take a year off.
Anon CDL is one of the most in demand fields lmao
    >MUH HEKKIN FOREIGNERS!!!1
okay yeah nvm you'll never make it

    >>2916654
This you don't even need to know anything more than a basic search online for that info. One thing I do remember is that she needed some certification test to prove she could speak the basics for international flights. Not sure if a rule still but I can see it. OP if something season like CDL is too much because muh foreigners, you NGMI even retards on that Caleb Hammer show brag about just making 7k/mo driving the max hours for a few months

So do all airlines. You still work shithole routes your first 5+ years, and the pay sucks.
    >>
    >>2916669
Anon Amazon is probably one of if not the largest CDL employer in the USA. Using it as a benchmark is completely reasonable as they are fucking everywhere.

    >be flight attendant
    >have to grind 3-5 years for eligibility to do international travel
    >just have to put up with every slob and retard during this time
    >any delays it's your fault
    >spirit airlines gone now all the "ethnic" people on your plane
    >every non english speaker or first time flyer problem is yours to fix
    >just have to jump through every hoop imaginable when the airlines say jump
    >shift doesn't technically start until you enter the aircraft
    >have to use shitty shuttles back and forth staying by the airport in hotels
    >airport food...
    >probably invest 60ish hours a week for this life style
    >have to prove you can speak basic foreign languages to help passengers to do international
    >finally can travel some routes to Asia after 5 years, but the job took +10 years on your body
    >16hrs on the plane as you have to prep/close up the cabin
    >get told you have 48hrs rest before flying back
    >pass out from jetlag+being on your feet+clocking your hours in+eating
    >have maybe 20 hours total to yourself
"heh got cheap travel baby :)"

I think even just dedicating yourself to properly using a CC with some good points would be easier and cheaper to see places. Reminds me of those people who will scream up and down the best way to travel cheap is showing up at the docks, giving the captian of a cargo ship a firm handshake, offer to swab the deck, and you'll end up in Europe(that's how my pappy did it!).

I fucking hate the seniority based shit. If I’m flying international business class. Do I prefer the attendant to be a used up hag or do I want her to be a cute young snack? In the old days when flying was glamorous airlines would hire flight attendants based on looks.
    >>
    >>2916878
If you get to chance with even a moderately well-aged 50+ flight attendant though, do it. They're absolute semen demons.

White incel dumbpost of the day
    >>
    >>2917297
how the fuck else are you suppose to find a white, single, good looking woman? I want to be a flight attendant because asians are white passing, specifically china after watching hasan visit. As a stupid mutt our president is doing endless humiliation rituals for the jews where moving there is IMPOSSIBLE now and Ai will automate everything short of the service industry. At least I can meet women willing to talk with me there, it's impossible as a white guy who's 6'1" in the US to find anyone respectable these days.

this board is nothing but doomer fucks who never travel, at least my job will be respected and ACTUALLY travel meeting REAL women.

Dude I am talking about getting women, starting a family, flying to cool places, having a respected career not being a fucking techbro. Enjoy your sexpat life style of being a creep when you return home to whatever america finds itself in. At least as a flight attendant I can check out each country I want, figure out what is good, and move there with a job in place. Enjoy being a fat fuck truck driver or whatever you were on about

    fuck this thread I'm OUT.

Actual last post IIT because of pathetic sameposting

White passing isn't a big deal it's just something that gets under incels skins, I'd be fine with anything not a pig who has 5 kids and wants to talk about <president> at this point. Other countries have literally to much to talk about that isn't related to the usa, culture, family, trust, etc. I just want someone respectable who isn't a stuck up idiot like the ones we have where I live(boston). America is going anywhere anytime soon, BRICS, China, India, etc all surpassing us as we shoot ourselves in the face with AI. I'm just tired bosss... There has to be something out there a better life a better country that respects the worker and isn't fucking based on coonsooming. I don't know why I bothered keeping this tab open it was a mistake, people like you will never learn. I'm out and back to mu

It's a very depressing job that takes years to finally be treated as a human being, and even there it's a very dysfunctional lifestyle.

On the other side, never date a woman who's flight attendant, she will 100% cheat on you. Sex is rampant because it's their only way to ''enjoy life' and pilots/other male attendants will be hitting on her 24/7 even if they know she's married with kids.

Being stuck in hotels with limited time to ''rest'' and male coworkers being starved dogs almost always ends with crazy things. My friend is a pilot and told me he fucked a ton of married women from his crew rotations with very little effort which explains why the divorce rate is insanely high for this profession.
    >>
Imagine being such an underpaid person while still paying union fees simply to spend 1-2 days abroad
    >>
    >>2916667
I took the CDL pill and I'm making 1.5/wk in my first month. It sucks ass but it's one of the only jobs a low tier wagie can quit and find new work on demand. That's why I'm doing it. Plus all of the piss stained truck stops in America are just outside my front door.

    >>2917292
    holy shit you're retarded
flight attendant is one of the gayest professions for men
AIDS patient zero in america was literally a male flight attendant
