Yeah SanFran and LA can be nice especially since Xi is in town and Gaven cleaned up for a visit. Fucking detriot can be amazing if you stick to some areas like the boardwalk

why tf would I go to oakland
why would I go to detroit

    >why tf would I go to oakland
Because when people are talking about the bad shit of SF and the bay area in general they mean those areas. San Fran proper/tourist sections are fine for the most part. It's living there and having to go through the bad parts to get to work or shit makes things bad.
    >>

can confirm. Also felt the same when I was there a couple of years ago. There was a great bar scene in and around as well. People were easy to talk to and there was lots to do. There is loads of character to a lot of the buildings and the parks are excellent.
    >>
I only went to the tourist zone, and yes this was 20 years ago but I remember it being kinda run down and dirty and the gay district being sort of disappointing. Any place that receives such normie glowing reviews I am suspicious of.
    >>
    >except for the murders, the homeless, the squatemalens, the druggies and the millions of piles of human shit on the sidewalks san Francisco is nice

This. My grinder lit up as soon as the plane wheels hit the ground. I went to the Castro and within 20 minutes I had a dick in my mouth and in my butt. Prob had sex with 40 guys by the end of the weekend. LOVE SF
    >>
    >>2912362
I had the same experience. I’m HIV+ and SF is one of the most + accepting and welcoming places I’ve ever been. The gay scene is legit there. I even met a few chasers and managed to give one a gift (he massaged me a few months later to let me know). IMHO, skip the gay bars and go straight to the sex clubs, you wont regret it.

    Detroit is kino
    >brooo Detroit is so fucked up it's like the most dangerous city in north america
You can guarantee these people have never been there, at least not in the last 20 years. It's probably dangerous in the nog enclaves outside of the city center, but wtf would you go there anyway

San Francisco had one of the biggest bounce backs of our time. During covid, there were so many homeless people there that people started calling it San Franshitsco because of them shitting everywhere, it got so bad that businesses in the downtown area started closing because no one wanted to shop surrounded by feces and homeless people. It went from a reputation like that to now where it's mainly seen as the city rich techbros go to for partying.

maybe they should add more public toilets, to be fair this is an issue in all american cities
    >>
    >>2912563
This is true. More public toilets would eliminate almost all of San Francisco’s problems. While they’re at it, they should provide housing for the homeless. Problem solved. Why are their politicians so stupid and greedy?
    >>
    >>2912566
I actually think they shouldn't have housing they should have designated outdoor camping areas specifically for the unhoused with services on site, food, bathrooms, showers - people are going to have schizophrenia anyways and there's no cure and it would be way more humane than locking them up or drugging them. I think the biggest focus should be on hygiene and sanitation (and noise control). The only rule is they cannot be violent towards others, or make tons of noise.

But yeah, as someone who grew up in a big city, it is very weird how anti-public toilet America is. I usually just pee on the side of the road on road trips.
    >>
    >>2912563
    >public toilets
Yeah, no. You're going to have homeless junkies camping out/destroying/ODing in them non-stop
This is why we can't have nice things
    >>2912567
    >The only rule is they cannot be violent towards others, or make tons of noise.
schizophrenic bums are going to start chimping out as soon as they get to your 'homeless paradise' and there will be murders and rapes in the first weeks, if not days.
    >locking them up and drugging them
    This is the way
    >>
I lived in SF for 14 months right before covid. If you park your car for 5 minutes with anything visible inside, someone will smash your window about 90 percent of the time. There were streets where hundreds of homeless people camped long term. Drug addicts would wander up and down the streets. You would see shit all over the place.

With that said, San Francisco does have some really beautiful areas. You could cross the bridge into Marin County and all the problems were non-existent. Here's my list of the good stuff to do: rent bikes on Angel Island, hike Muir Woods, raft the Russian river in Healdsburg, rent bikes at the Presidio and ride across the Golden gate bridge, Hike from Muir beach to the Pirates Cove, go to Alcatraz, hike the Cataract trail up Mount Tam.

I think they should have supervised injection sites so they can do that shit with real heroin in a place that gets cleaned and they have to throw away their needles properly. Again, you just want these people either jailed or killed.
    >>
    >>2912597
    >I want to enable their self-destructive behavior and societal plight
    You monster
    >you just want these people either jailed or killed
Yes, or ideally thrown into a looney bin, put on a stack of antipsychotics, and isolated from functional society. The amount of harm that junkies, criminals, and crazies do to a society is beyond enough to warrant this. It's also the most humane solution. Throwing them back onto the streets with a slap on the wrist so they can rape, stab, rob, and general harass the functional members of society trying to live their lives, go to work, and support their family is psychotic and the politicians and government workers that have allowed it to get to this point should be publicly executed.
    >>
    >>2912597
    >I think they should have supervised injection sites so they can do that shit with real heroin in a place that gets cleaned and they have to throw away their needles properly
it never ceases to amaze me the retarded shit people come up with
    >this drug that totally destroys the substance of your life may be awful, but I am going to do everything in my power to make the implosion of your life as easy as possible. Good luck Overdosing on the black tar heroin!
at some point, giving the junkie the clean needles so they don't get hep C is pointless, because they are going to die of any overdose in like a month anyway. and that is sad. If we had just guided drug use for recreational purposes to ones that are safer long term, and banned the rest, maybe you would have a point. but currently shit like fentanyl is going to continue killing tens of thousands a year
    >>
    >>2912597
They should be jailed until they stop doing drugs. Why is that so hard for you to understand and accept?
    >>
    >>2912640
Jail is too expensive, put them on an unused military base, airdrop Reagan cheese and other surplus commodities to feed them and tonnes of confiscated drugs. Cost would be almost nothing . They can leave when they are sober. Cities should be nice places for good people
    >>
    >>2912651
I'd like to see them put to work to payback all their costs to the taxpayers. Give them a cot with a supply of water and potatoes and throw their asses in a coal mine until they pay off their public debt.
    >>
    >>2912581
    >hike Muir Woods
    achingly beautiful place
even if you go expecting big trees, they're even bigger than what you can imagine
    >>
    >>2912932
Kind of depressing because its crowded and fenced and paved
    >>
    >>2912934
Go midweek in September or October. It's significantly less crowded. The valley is paved, but the pavement ends a mile in right at the Bootjack trail. You can hike up the mountain past the waterfalls and you'll see maybe 5 or 6 people on the trails. That's a pretty strenuous hike though to the top. It gains like 2800 feet. I usually turn around 5 miles in at O’Rourke’s Bench. Hard to beat that view. The easier way is to just drive up there.

If anyone is actually going to SF, here are my 3 food recommendations, Jijime. It's a really good Korean place. They serve these big ass skillets with meat, fresh veggies and crispy rice.

Tacolicious in the Mission District. You will not drink a better margarita in SF. They get mixed reviews because it's expensive for a taco joint. But the food is flawless.

Tommy's Joynt. Homestyle cooking. Prime rib, corn beef, roast beef, mashed potatoes. That was my favorite spot in town. Girl's always hate it because it looks dingy inside.

One day I will venture forth from my squalid corner of Albion, cross the Appalachians, roam the Great Plains and surmount the mighty Rockies, and reward myself by having a cute Ameritwink fellate me in the toilets of a San Francisco gay bar

Anon, I swear you are coping. I had to live in SF for a few months of my life. Oakland is not SF; no one sees it as such. When /pol/ talks about SF, they mean SF. SF used to be a lot worse, though, and the Xi incident, though shitty, happened a while ago. There are shitty cities run by Republicans and good cities run by Democrats. It's a big country that has a lot of different issues depending on the region.
