Is Rouen worth visiting for both sights and the local cuisine?

Me and a group of ~5 are planning a visit to France next year (perhaps early 2027 for off season prices) and Paris is obviously a big one and where we'll be flying into from the US and visiting, but I was wondering if Normandy's capital was worth going out for views, history, and food.

Also, would Le Havre also be worth adding? Maybe more seafood focused, but I don't know if it has as many historical sights, though being on the coast might make it worth the contrast to larger/denser cities.

Our trip is planned to be Paris-focused at this stage, but I was wondering if Rouen's relative closeness would make it a worthwhile excursion.
    >>
skip paris, stick to the coasts, make it a seafood eating adventure
history is just words and stories
food is a local, real palpable connection to the earth, try to find the most exotic local fishies possible

I mean, there is a personal sensation in seeing something or entering some place in real life.

Anyway, do you have any recommendations on where to go and what to get?

We're friends and relatives, not random strangers.

    Dumbest shit I've ever read.
You can read about history, but seeing it up close is a whole different experience.
Meanwhile, you can get literally any food you want anywhere in the world, assuming you live in first world. You don't need to travel to France to have a "seafood adventure" lmao.

    >it
    shitty old paintings
    old stones
talk to local fishermen in small coastal towns
    see the real france
or see generic touristslop in crowded paris museums that treat you like a criminal and search your stuff after charging you 30 euros to get inside
    your choice
    seafood varies heavily by region...

rent an apartment, buy some cockles, buy some local bread, make a stew with your friends, buy some wine, drink and talk to each other

    French born and raised in Normandy here;
    Skip Rouen.

The few things to see in Normandy are Honfleur for a typical port, then down to the D-day beaches near Caen (if that's your thing), then the Mont-Saint-Michel.

Le Havre is a horrible place, literally just commieblocks built after the city was destroyed in 1945.

Historically Normandy, is mostly known for a few Middle-Age/Viking castles RUINS, a few Abbeys, a few churches and that's it.
For history, you're better off visiting pretty much any other area in France (Versailles, Loire Valley, Perigord, Britany, Carcassone and so on).

Why don't they build NEW but replica-styled stone castles as if they were middle age norman castles and line them with candles, tapestries, and portraits and let tourists run around inside and take selfies at turret towers?

It just seems so lazy to charge admission for a pile of stones.
    >>
    >>2912830
Rouen has all the Joan of arc stuff though
    >>
    >>2912838
    >Rouen has all the Joan of arc stuff though
Nah, there's no historical monument remembering Jeanne d'Arc.
She was burned at the stake in Rouen, but the place is a shitty post modern market that smells like piss (or like fish, i'm not quite sure). See the cross picrel, she was burned (burnt?) there.

No really, you're better off visiting Versailles not far from Paris, or the Loire Valley for Renaissance castles, or way down south to Perigord or Carcasonne for real middle-ages castles.

Guess what, we are already doing that since the 1990s.
But not in the fake Disney shit way but using medieval techniques, which is why it takes decades.
It's called the Chateau de Guedelon.
    Our country is based sometimes.

And again, other areas have medieval castles in near mint condition.
    Normandy not so much.

Is that the right wing theme park the NYT was complaining about recently? Also I'd rather have a bigger castle built with slightly more modern tech but still made out of brick or stone or wood or natural materials not the cement or whatever disney is made out of. To me, it's more about having lots of hidden passages and long hallways with candles and feeling lost in this huge multi-story place.

I haven't seen the article but i guess it was about Puy Du Fou
    https://www.puydufou.com/france/en/must-see-france

It was backed by a right wing politician anf unfortunately for globohomos, it's very successsful.
Puy du Fou is an actual theme park, it's twice the size of Disneyland Paris, but with mostly shows, no real rides i think.

It's pretty much shadow banned internationally because it promotes european/white culture and heritage.

    >>2915416
    It even has a Colosseum.
But the park mostly open in summer.

At one point (around 2015) Putin asked to import the concept in Russia.
    >>
    >>2915417
I emphasize that there's no rides tho, so don't be disappointed if you go there.

the French are so fucking spoiled in terms of great towns they consider Rouen not worth visiting lol

i was there and had a great time, even if its not the most impressive french city out there
    >>
    >>2915432
Other than the fact that Rouen is 50% African and all the schools are shut as they burn down the city its great
    >>
    >>2915471
Other than the fact you are a virgin neet who has never had a passport or left his home state, why are you making retarded posts here?

They're supposed to be building a sister to Puy du Fou in England, and I know there's one in Spain. The English one is expected to open in 2029 at a cost of £600m, so hopefully it'll be ready for visitors by 2039 at about thrice that figure.

Rouen is kinda boring once you've seen the rather small center. Le Havre is a concrete hellscape. I wouldn't visit Normandy for its "big" towns, which were completely destroyed during ww2 and are therefore quite uninspiring.
    >>2912830 is right. The interesting parts of Normandy are the quaint villages and the countryside in general, or even better its coastlines (Manche is heavenly). You need a car to visit this kind of places. You can also do like all muh heritagefags and go to ww2 memorial places, but it gets old pretty fast.
Also beware of Bayeux, it's actually nice but the tapestry may be in England when you visit.
    t. lived in Caen for a few years

    Any news?

Of what? Nothing is happening that would concern travelers.

It's a very beautiful city and there's some great restaurants. Obviously the canard à la normande is a classic but I also recommend the tartar à la normande if you can have one. It's fresh beef with apple and calva.

    >>2910710
Also if you go there, see the aître saint-maclou, it was my favorite place to go as a kid visiting my family.
