how the hell do you guys take longer than a 2 week trip? After 2 weeks it cost more than rent in most cities and thats not even accounting for transport and food cost. Airbnb looks cheaper for longer stays but then you need to deal with rules, insane host, and "cleaning fees".
    >>
    >>2906445
You don't. The American hotel market is like sports arenas - trying to provide you with the least value for your dollar.

It's why, Trump wrecking oil markets aside, you're almost always better off in Europe or Asia for anything longer than a week.
    >>
    >>2906445
    Go off season
    Shop for deals
Stay in a town over and drive
Don't stay in high end if you don't need it
200/night isn't bad when you realize most fast food jobs start at fucking 15/hr these days
If I am vaca'ing with friends have them chip in, gf had to chip in some portion too

Also most Americans don't blow their entire 2 weeks in one go, what most smart people do is fluff a company/federal holiday or around similar events. When I only got 2 weeks vaca I would fluff it against a 3 day weekend where I would drop a day off on Thursday and a day off on Monday giving me 5 days off for the "price" of 2. Do that a few times through the year and it goes a long way. I'd just drive up to flagstaff or short hop flight on whatever cheapo ticket to LA for some event back then. Weekenders throughout the year >>>>> 2 weeks in FL just to say you did 2 weeks off. I get 4 weeks PTO now but never use it since I work remote and my boss just doesn't care as long as my project deadlines are hit.

    Canadians do mostly the same
    >>
    >>2906450
Flying to Asia still burns 2 days of just air travel most people don't want to use, not to mention if you factor in most travel costs normies would do with flights it's more expensive. Ain't no one with a gf going to take zipair to Japan and sleep in a 2x4 hostel pod to save a few cent on the yen to $.

If you want to stay anywhere vibrant and downtown in America with little shops and attractive people walking around, then yeah the prices are going to soar above $100. I stayed in downtown Fort Collins once and paid $160 for a room at a historic Main Street hotel there. It was fun to get stoned and ride the hotel bicycle around on the lovely bike paths, but goddamn, that 11 AM checkout time arrived way too quickly.
    >>
One of the biggest causes of high hotel prices in America is the fact that every municipality sees lodging as a cash cow for tax revenue. Locals love raising taxes on lodging because it is one of the few forms of taxation which does not impact their budget. Often 17% or more taxes are levied on every night's room rate, and this doesn't even count all the other forms of taxation that hotel owners pay out of pocket, like business licenses, state income tax and property tax. You could say that easily 50% or more of a hotel's price goes directly into the government's pockets.

There are homeless and illegals being housed in hotels in every state. That's why hotels are so expensive
    >>
    >>2908712
Homeless and Illegals being the cause of hotels being pricey isn't the sole reason. Did/does it affect some areas? sure but as anon pointed out those are in shitty dem cities.

OP is also just looking at average prices, so it could be taking into the 2000/night penthouse room in these places. Lots of those cities you can find sub 100/night hotels easily.
    >>
    >>2908713
    >Lots of those cities you can find sub 100/night hotels easily.

    Only in shitholes in USA.

Not decent places. Anti discrimination laws, housing criminals for free, labor laws, welfare available all makes USA hotels very expensive. Why can I get a nice hotel with breakfast in Tokyo or Istanbul for $50 and it's $250 in NYC? There's not one city in USA as cheap as Tokyo or Istanbul
    >>
    >>2908732
    >Only in shitholes in USA.
DFW, Las Vegas, Flagstaff, Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, etc. The prices are skewed because the upper limit is so infinitely higher when you can just get a hotel 10-15 minutes outside where you want to be and bus/uber downtown.

The list in the OP shows the averages dip below 100 regularly in places, VB isn't that bad.

I'd rather do a comfort inn that has a fitness center and breakfast, it's 55/night. For 75 a night I could stay near the airport for a similar Hotel+shuttle and close to the DART.

I have no idea why you screenshot multiple nights where even on a short notice booking, which is always more expensive, and even then breaks down to 100 a night or less. I'm all for complaining about weird prices of the US hotel markets but at least don't try to fluff your BS when it's so obvious you were just fudging the numbers.

There are many causes, but banking jews owning everything via loans is a big factor. Many hotel owners are paying off a huge mortgage. No, Vishnu Patel didn't have 2 mil cash laying around to buy Sunset Inn and Suites. He got a big loan and now uses his customers to pay it off.
    >>2908736
Bus access is very poor for most of those cheap outlying hotels. Some American cities do have cheap motels in lived-in neighborhoods, but most have them only in those ugly commercial sprawl zones that have no life whatsoever (unless it's a ghetto, then there will be blacks loitering around doing black people stuff).
    >NO LOITERING
Everywhere you go you see those signs in the "Land of the Free". It's a crime to enjoy leisure time with buddies outdoors in this zogged country, you can only leave your house to spend money and then it's time to get back in the pod.

Bus access is dependent on where you go, LV strip bus system and to/from the airport is fine. Lots of beach cities often have buses running north/south along the beach to get you places. It's an option if uber isn't part of what you plan to budget. I don't mind using the bus, but if I was with a girl I'd always do an uber.

I'm sick and tired of white flight; it is the root cause of the so-called Great Replacement. Instead of seething online about nons, White people of all ages and income levels should be congregating in large groups every warm summer evening in America. Meeting sweethearts, playing sports, drinking beer, cruising around in their cars, strumming guitars in a circle, lighting campfires, grilling food, etc. Restore primitive tribal behavior, restore social confidence, restore a sense of belonging to a place.

Goods and services impacted by coloured people cost 100% to 200% more than they would otherwise in western shitholes. Factor in teen takeovers, lower productivity, lawsuits, random violence . Now add in demand side by filling hotels with criminals who also run up expenses, a $50 room becomes $150.

Here's another example groceries in Tokyo are more expensive than paris, berlin and nyc, but restaurants are much much cheaper, fast food is 1/3rd the price. Why? Blacks, rapefugees and other brownoids who drive up costs at restaurants and retail establishments

Lesson, cheaper travel destinations have few to none subhumans or they are strictly controlled double plus good.

This is ai but tracks with my experience

    >Tokyo is generally cheaper than Berlin for dining out, with restaurant prices approximately 46.5% to 63.9% lower in Tokyo, while grocery prices are roughly 4% to 26% higher in Tokyo compared to Berlin.

According to Numbeo data from October 2025, specific cost differences include:

Dining Out: A meal at an inexpensive restaurant costs €6.76 in Tokyo versus €15.00 in Berlin (a ~55% difference). Fast food combos are significantly cheaper in Tokyo (€4.22 vs €12.00).
Groceries: Basic staples vary; milk is slightly more expensive in Tokyo (€1.27 vs €1.15), while bread and chicken are notably cheaper in Tokyo (€1.08 vs €1.73 and €2.94 vs €4.76 respectively). However, items like beef, apples, and oranges are more expensive in Tokyo.
Beverages: Soft drinks and bottled water are drastically cheaper in Tokyo (€0.99 and €0.71) compared to Berlin (€3.05 and €2.51).
    >>
    >>2909015
Asians are so much more efficient than Whites. Also, dining out in the West is classified as leisure sector. It's an optional social experience. Dining out in Asia has both leisure sector fine dining and strictly utilitarian eateries which feed hungry workers on a daily basis. They bring the average price of eating out way down.

    >week price kicks in 400-450/week
    >drive car down and use to get around town/reduce uber usage, gas back and forth maybe 200 total
    >even a shitty 2016 Nissan versa is getting like 350 miles on a tank
    >bring all your stuff in the car + some extra booze to help cut the costs of drinking down
    >take off Thursday right after work/leave work a bit early, get in late
    >Friday->the next Sunday have fun (9ish days off)
    >check out Sunday afternoon drive back for work on monday
    >total week out maybe 800 for 2 people

Just book more than a week out usually 3-4 weeks out is prime to get decent deals, often more the better. A week at a time is pretty easy. Having a car opens up so many possibilities it's not a big deal for most americans, a 6hr radius from your home basically has so much to offer for things. Even a mid place like PHX I can drive up to Northern parts of AZ or Show Low for snow, cool fall activities, etc, or simply drive down to rocky point for a cheap ass beach getaway without the Los Angeles BS. Flights to DFW for other shows are cheap as shit and I've never really had a problem using the DART to get around.

This is true. America has more land and you're setting triple the price, but ok
    >American houses are just so much more luxurious than their Asian counterparts that the motel feels like a big step down, while in Asia you are sleeping better than the locals.
This isn't true. In asia that expensive hotel ($25 a night) is substantially worse than the conditions locals live in. In america too, even that $70 hotel is worse than what locals live in
    t. lived like a local in several countries in asia, and in the us, and stayed in the $25 room in asia and the $70 room in the us
    >>
A hotel room like this in India now costs $50/night when booked online. Maybe $40 paying at reception. When I see such prices in India, Thailand and other countries, it becomes clear that American motels are not particularly overpriced. (First floor motel rooms do have awful natural lighting and curtains that can't be opened without somebody walking by right outside. And the noisy ass window A/C units. Ugh. Ameripoors love sleeping in gloomy caves with ultraplush beds and a thrumming fan. I've met so many mutts who say they cannot sleep without some kind of noise, because then they might hear somebody walk past their door and jump awake in a panic reaching for their gun.)

If you can't afford $61 a night, you should be the one taking advice, not giving it.

And it's not $61 it's $69 and these rooms are in roach motels

Wow, 70$ a night, no way. I could spend that on a roach motel or a standard mom and pop hotel, breakfast included in the middle of Venice during off-season. Tough choice.

best option for me with $1.2M and an Italian passport and SEA gf+baby?
Have a bachelors and will work my last SWE job until the wheels fall off or I knock em off myself.

Asia and Europe would be main consideration. Maybe become a tutor/educator and work international schools. idk

My problem isn't that they own more. it's how much more they own per unit time and how much they want to charge for being the current holder of it.
