In fact, Tyrogue has a special mechanic that increases the damage of the first hits of a combo by 50%, giving him the lowest health pool in the game! However, by landing 3 or more Punch and/or Kick moves, Tyrogue builds up enough experience to transform into one of the three Hitmons! 3 more punches than kicks leads to Chan, vice versa leads to Lee, and being within 2 of each other leads to Top! Now, while they all play completely differently, they all have one thing in common; great use of meter! This allows Tyrogue to intentionally focus more on building meter than winning the current match to give the Hitmons enough oomph to carry them through the second round, thereby making up for Tyrogues abnormal weakness! And those Hitmons are pretty neat in and of themselves! Cont.
>>86251887 (addendum)Chan is a rushdown character that can infinitely loop 5A -> 6A -> walkup (ftilt -> jab) as a true blockstring, which can only be beaten by the risky parry & invincible reversals, but even then Chan can exchange the 6A or walkup jab for a throw at any time, which further increases his mixup potential while granting Chan another avenue to gain meter (his other is a comboable sweep)! Alongside a great defensive DP, he's also got a couple of neat things to go along with it, like Dudleys Sway (although it's more like a traditional "jump back punch" than a Dandy Step, a "jump back then forward" command dash that has multiple follow-ups), a big wind-up punch with Showboat, and Tauros Rush to mess with the timing of his jumps. But what REALLY great him going is what he gets access to with meter; Ice Punch. Simply put, it's a one bar super that has great health & endurance damage and, more importantly, amazing advantage both on hit and block. Enough advantage that you can land Showboat right after, on both hit and, more importantly, block, which does shit tons of endurance damage. And guess what you can cancel Showboat into? ICE PUNCH! This allows Chan to covert any blocked normal into an inescapable blockstring that only ends when the opponent is guard-broken, and if he has meter left over when that happens, Chan gets rewarded with fucktons of damage on top of it! Now, I was debating whether or not to talk about Top or Lee next, but I decided I should go in order of left, right, both, even if Top & Lee both have their own individual cases to be last. Cont.

However, he doesn't play like Dhalsim or Axl as one would expect, but rather like Necro from Third Strike, only using them to augment said footsies as well as his pressure. However, Lee also takes inspiration from another character from Third Strike. And that character is YUN, one of the most aggressive rushdown characters in Capcoms entire history of developing fighting games. The reason for this comparison is because both characters share a major part of their kit; an install super that grants them greater freedom in throwing out moves one after the other, Gen'ei Jin in Yuns case and Limber Up in Lees. However, Lees increased range, coupled with the existence of a block bar, makes his install even BETTER on block as it forces his opponent into a horribly losing position, much like Chan, while also giving him near-impenetrable defence in neutral, while ALSO giving him insane damage when Lee does land a hit on his opponent, and the fact that he can freely cancel said hits into Limber Up means he has access to that damage when Lee wants to use it, preventing it from being squandered. The only real weakness Lee has is that his defence during disadvantage is horrible, but even then his ability to out-range his opponent, coupled with Lees outstanding air control, means that he's capable of fending off that worst case scenario. Also he can do the Captain Falcon Knee! Cont.

His whole gimmick is that Top has a slew of easily accessible movement options baked into his kit, most notably his 4A & 6As allowing him to zip backwards and forwards, respectively. This makes Top an elusive bastard of a rushdown character, capable of zipping out of and into his opponents range, further compounded by Digs patented "left/right/haha fuck you I switched sides instead of committing to an attack" mix, and 4A & 6As unique Rebound follow-ups that allow Top to bounce off the walls into a swift reprisal (that he gets a full combo off of, mind you). However, the most terrifying tool in Tops arsenal is its super, Maximum Hurricane. It is a potent invincible reversal super similar to Slayers Dead on Time, in that both have 0 frames of start-up. What this means practically is that, if your opponent isn't blocking when the super goes off, they WILL get hit, with nothing they can do to stop it. And y'know where Dead on Time and Maximum Hurricane differ? Maximum Hurricane LEADS TO A FULL FUCKING COMBO. If you disrespect Tops meter on defence for even ONE INSTANT, you WILL get your back blown the fuck out. Fortunately, Top does have a glaring weakness that makes him actually fun to fight; his movement outside of Dig is linear, allowing opponents to exploit it using Parries and space control to prevent Top from getting in & forcing him into disadvantage, respectively. All in all just a really cool set of characters!
