If it ended being kept as one sided relationship that would be a hard story to want to read through.Doubly so considering chapter 5 seems to take an almost aggressively dismissive stance to Kris and Susie's relationship, with the piano and QC scenes in chapter 4 becoming Suselle fodder. With QCs being the only restaurant in town it makes sense, but the only options you get are include Noelle and weird her away or exclude her and guarantee a date with her and Susie. The piano moment has Noelle trying to muscle her way into something with Susie, something both know is really special to Kris. Its for a joke but still.Susie's use of the "our thing/just the two of us" at the lake and the end of the chapter also feels bad. She says it to Noelle as a reason to exclude Kris and again to Kris right before tearing apart their special thing. With Kris seeming to caring so much and Susie seeming to care so little it feels lopsided.

So the plot is going to kick his ass to hammer that point home.
