Loneliness is a motherfucker, but one of the ways you can at least stave it off is to try and cultivate the friendships you have or find new ones. Sometimes the act of doing that can help you in building relationship skills as well.

Late 20s sucks. I feel like a teenager and middle aged at the same time. I want a relationship for the same reason everyone wants a relationship, while my friends who are in relationships tell me to keep trying and it'll work eventually etc etc, and I should be nicer to myself and I'm really nice, but then I get told by everyone I date that we're incompatible. This time it was because we have "different communication styles" this lady wanted to talk almost all day every single day, which I can do because I've got the time, but apparently I didn't ask enough deep questions about her work and her family history, I didn't offer to help build a TV cabinet, and we're at different life stages because she knows she wants to get married and have a family while I said I didn't know, and yeah I get that in itself is a deal breaker, but the rest of that stuff seems really unfair. How am I supposed to know she wants me to build a cabinet with her if she never asked me to, how am I supposed to ask her detailed questions about her work when she's at work telling me about her work day all day, how am I supposed to ask about her family when everything she's told me about her family is that her parents were neglectful drug addicts? That's really heavy and depressing stuff to talk about with someone youve been dating for only a few weeks. She kept bringing up her ex, telling me that she broke up with him last year after a ten year relationship because he never really cared about her and was really self centred. But she ended it because we get along in person but I dont text good
Sorry for shitting up the thread. My friends are too busy to message back. It's that point in life where you wait days for a response and schedule hangouts weeks in advance. I have nobody else to talk to.

First, judging from how you've described her it sounds like you may have dodged a bit of a bullet, so don't beat yourself up too much that it didn't work out. Believe me i've been in a similar situation, ending it was the best decision of my life. That being said i also think there may be some truth in the whole communication thing. Communication is usually the deciding factor in relationships in my experience. Obviously there's a difference between thoughtful communication and one-sided yap sessions but in general a good rule of thumb is to follow up, pry, and give little bit back.

Relationships are about give and take and sacrifice from BOTH parties. However, give and take, and sacrifice does not mean eviscerating yourself and concealing your identity and especially your boundaries for the other person. If someone is making you uncomfortable in a relationship that's a big red flag and if you can, you should try to address it and nip it in the bud before it turns into resentment
