My Gamestop had Machoke, Ponyta, Golette, and 4" Ceruledge in stock today. I see some other ppl are getting them in too. Machoke is my fav since it never gets merch.

Some new things were discovered in leaks between threads too. The booklet with Machoke shows a 3" Chansey and a 2" Hisui Growlithe plus a pic of the Alola Raichu. Credit - visionary_vi in the NMC discord server

Jazwares, why have you forsaken us and cancelled that select zoroark?
    >>
    >>11928737
This with Salamence. Was hoping they'd go back to it ever since the Bagon finally came out.
    >>
    >>11928737
    >>11928797
Me with the supposed Trevenant. I know he was a longshot but with their love of articulated fingers it'd have made such a great figure that they couldn't really screw up on. Losing Zoroark or Blaziken or even Salamence is pretty weird, those are all very popular pokemon.

Nidoking and tiny Lugia are interesting choices, though the former is a bit redundant with Blokees (its color better matches the GB era of games though), and while Lugia is tiny, the double jointed fingers are fun (it won't scale with the Blokees, but probably look better with them than with the other Jazwares).

I think it's simply because it's a New York Pokemon Center exclusive. I've always wanted to go there, but now it's a Nintendo general store, and that didnt have the wall full of moncolles. So it's that, Times Square TRU, and Robot Galaxy being the reasons I regret never traveling often before. ANYWAY, Quilava has been reprinted during Gen 5, and that was the last gloss coat wave

    >>11928949
These in particular are the very first releases of the "Pokémon Figure Collection" which are the English version releases of the TOMY Monster Collection/Moncolle

You could purchase them on the original early 2000s pokemoncenter.com or at Pokémon Center NY. They're pretty rare, with certain Pokémon hitting over $1,000.

Fun fact: Jynx was never released in this line outside Japan.
    >>
    >>11929128
I remember browsing this. $4 per moncolle, and $6 for big scale ones like Slowking and the Lati's. I never partook because I was too young for a credit card, but thank god for pkmncollectors

Damn. I lived in NYC and went to the Pokemon Center a few times and probably had tons of those toys along with these Hasbro multipack versions. Ended up donating them along with most of my other Pokemon toys when I was in my teens.

Same here anon. Mom used to reward me for good grades and let me get some Figs from the site. Those were the days. I really wish more of this stuff was archived, especially the packaging.

Pic related, just got my boys in from Japan today. Flawless figures, those Japs really take care of shit.

I recently came across the Rhydon and Rhyhorn 2 pack in the wild at a used goods store. I couldnt believe my eyes. I got them for $50 I think, which was a little cheaper than their ebay price at the time.
I still have mine in a big storage box. Not the best condition and I am definetly missing a lot. It is wild to see peoples complete collection of them. There were some that were partucularly rare. I think Nidoqueen was one that I didn't know that they ever made until recent years.
    >>
    >>11929199
Yup, Nidoqueen is super rare. Magmar too because it was so heavily bootlegged. Hard to find a real one.

    >????
    >sad profit.....?
    >>
    >>11929197
This makes me sad for many reasons. If you go to a Pokemon Center in Japan right now, they still have a moncolle shelf but it's not as complete as this. If you go to a Nintendo store in the US, they dont even bother to stock Jazwares
    >>
    >>11929203
The English Pokemon Center site is really lacking when it comes to "figures". Would be really nice if they'd have Jazwares would supply them with a bunch of 2" single pack figures like the ones you'd see at the discount stores, but with more variety. It would be like the old moncolles and the larger figures and multi packs would still have to be bought at normal retail places if they were worried about it affecting sales.
    >>
    >>11929203
    >>11929360
pretty sure Pokemon Center doesnt want to carry Jazzwares stuff since it would just cut into their profits from other items they produce themselves. They'd also only be able to carry it in the United States store since the Jazzwares license doesn't let them sell in Asia.
    >>
    >>11929387
The English pokemon centers ship to US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand so the Asia part isn't really relevant. They actually had a Gyarados from Jazwares at worlds for sale one year. And the part about cutting into their own profits from stuff they produce, they sell Lego there now so idk how much of an issue that would really be. The people that would care about the Jazwares figures are different buyers from the stuff they make themselves like the plush.
    >>
    >>11929401
it'll never happen anyway. It's prob contractual things preventing it. They've never carried any products even when Tomy usa or WCT had the license did they?
    >>
    File: 3355.jpg (61 KB, 461x500)
    61 KB JPG
    >>11929403
I don't believe they did. At the physical store at worlds every year they at one point had the English boxed moncolles. I got the 3 BW Starters, Zorua, Zoroark, Zekrom, Palkia, Dialga and Rayquaza. They had the sofubi Reshiram and Zekrom too.
    >>
    >>11927983
    >>11927972
aww fuk. Groudon and Chansey. I'm hyped. That Groudon looks extremely good and even though I hate those mid sized figures (with the exception of 2nd evolution starters and Eeveeutions) Chansey is one of the few that I think is a really good fit
    >>
    >>11929416
Didn't realize they were still doing these guys as late as the DS era. How about that.
    >>
    >>11929538
Oh yeah, they were releasing a lot of them. This is actually the last era of what we refer to as the "Classic Blister" box design. They got very ugly (IMO) after this.

Fun fact: Samurott was the only final starter form released in the English BW Figure Collection.
    >>
    >>11929557
XY era english packaging. At this point TOMY got global licensing around 2012-2013 and we're able to actually sell the products in major stores like Target, Toys R Us, Gamestop etc.

You'll notice the paint apps are starting to appear less shiny, too.
    >>
    >>11929561
And finally we enter the Sun Moon era where the packaging got less ugly. At this point TOMY had completely rebranded Moncolle (jap name for Figure Collection) in japan to Moncolle-EX and revamped their production. Different plastic and a non-reflective matte finish across the board for all figures (except for occasional repaints like the "Metallic" for 20th Anniversary).

After this, Wicked Cool Toys (later aquired by Jazzwares) became the primary English license distributor or whatever. So the English release of Moncolle came to a sad end.
    >>
    >>11929564

    >>11929945
Yeah the Weebly site is pretty good. Doesn't have 100% documentation on color differences and official copyright stamp differences but it's a good source to help with your checklist or spot fakes.
    >>
Did you ever have bootlegs? I had some 'Prodigy Pets' mixed in to my collection as a kid I think.
    >>
    >>11930096
Oh yeah. Tons. Grandparents and anyone who really wasn't my parents would always end up getting terrible bootleg pokemon shit. There was a whole section at Walmart when I was a kid full of foreign bootleg pokemon cards. So many kids (including me) ended up somehow getting stacks of German "cards" which were just stickers.

I used to have a ton of bootleg stuff. Had a few bootlegs of the gen 1 tomy moncolles. Also a bunch of gen 3 bootlegs that were like unique molds, I recognized a bunch of the bootleg ones on the weebly site. Whoever was making those gen 3 bootlegs went in pretty hard. A few years ago I sold off pretty much all of it cause some of them were getting sticky and kinda gross.

The pencil toppers in the pic I still have. I think the clear ones are bootlegs. Have two versions of that Electrode.

Yes the person who made that site put bootlegs for species that didn't have an official figure. They are labeled "Bootie" rather than Tomy after the Pokemon name. If you go on the Gen 3 tab that's where most of them are.

My grandma bought me some shitty Chinese Moncolle bootlegs that smelled toxic back during Pokemania but the paint was all chipped and poorly applied so I got rid of them eventually. Then I knowingly bought a bootleg Zigzagoon from a local toy store when I was a teen because it was actually a unique sculpt and looked rabid and the paint was pretty good for a bootleg. I still have him somewhere in my box of old Pokemon toys. I also unknowingly bought a bootleg Jakks Pacific Turtwig from Big Lots but got rid of that one because it felt like a hollow Happy Meal toy compared to the real thing which I would later obtain.
    >>

    >>11929566
Hey man >>11929585 here, after looking at your site some more I want to take back what I said, it's AI slop and you should kill yourself now. The entire site's text reads like it's written by AI not to mention your overly complicated rarity ranking system that's clearly made entirely with AI and doesn't reflect any actual real value. And complete AI hallucination bullshit like Mega Cutiefly which it got from an erroneous HLJ listing for Mega Mawile. Why don't you just make your own database instead of having Claude do it for you? He got lost in Mt Moon for six months you really think he could make a Pokemon database for you? You should be ashamed of yourself.
    >>
    >>11930815
Yes. Idk why some of you people were glazing that site earlier. I looked at it once and it was horrible looking and very clearly relied a ton on AI to build. It's just ugly to look at, an overcomplicated mess, and not even accurate either. Idk why so many Pokemon fan accounts or collectors are relying on AI for so much.
    >>
    >>11930815
I don't write or code for them, I add in gaps in figures and send in photos of my collection so they can add them to the listings, which is just through their email contact. I'm just trying to keep track of my collection and try to help the documentation at large, man.
    >>
    >>11930905
    >>11930815
Also the site is run by a Hispandex named Pokeshinyfinds on IG so I'm guessing a lot of the AI is used for translation shit too

    >>
    >>11930978
95% of people will be just into the cards, they must as well have not made toys, unfortunately. Just going to be trashed (especially since we don't have the Happy Meal toy recycling thing).

I appreciate some of the weirder picks they made but I can't say I'm particularly interested in any of them, not to mention they don't really do anything. I'd have much preferred figurines.
    >>
    >>11930978
how has McDonald's been the only thing to figure out the hysteria associated with Pokemon cards? shouldn't every thing possible have a promo card at this point? but it's nothing. no promo cards, anywhere. only the Happy Meal figured this out?

if Lego put promo cards in the Lego sets... they'd be sold out
if the t-shirts had promo cards... impossible to find a shirt, they'd all be gone.

you could sell lawn fertilizer. literal bags of crap. put a Pokemon card in it, and like magic, they'd be sold out, everywhere
    >>
    >>11931042
McD have been doing this for years, it's only now that cards are blowing up to the degree that they are.

As for why others don't, it probably has to do with licensing and distribution. Whether or not they can or what, or if the manufactuer (TPCi itself) thinks it's worth the trouble to print specific cards, who knows. Then if they just added a pack or something, then they'd also have to up the price by ~$5, which isn't conducive to the success of a product like Jazwares figures. I wouldn't be surprised if there's eventually lego promo pokemon cards to sell their oversized products.

What was your favorite pokemon toy? My algorithm got hit by 90's nostalgia and it made me think back to these really shitty plastic pokeball keychains. For whatever reason I only ever saw them in little arcade prize machines and never in any store.
    >>
    >>11931995
    >What was your favorite pokemon toy?
probably some kind of plush from the NY store. I was lucky to be close enough to check a few times a year, for a while

I can't think of a specific one right now, but they always had the best selection of fun Pikachu outfits and NEW pokemon. (it always seemed crazy how the new game would come out and the trading cards and action figures were not the new Pokemon, but the plushies at the Nintendo Store were the new ones.)

*sigh* being a jazzwares collector is just like that. They make pokemon that have never been made before, but they always suck. True monkeys paw

McDonalds is always in this weird spot where they have cards and even after the TCG blew up, the cards still aren't super popular. I think the problem is that they're reprints and only a few have their special confetti holo. Last year they had the likes of Charizard, Umbreon, Eevee, Pikachu and Dragonite in the set and it was perfectly fine.

Older ones are starting to increase in price from scalpers and crypto bros trying to make money on them, but modern McD sets aren't going to sell out or be crazy. Now, Burgerchu is a different beast, its what caused the craziness in Japan but we already know that its not in this years set and shouldn't be in next years set (according to the list Pokemon accidently uploaded yesterday)

A lot of the bullshit with promos is that scalpers and their like are trying to create artificial scarcity on what is essentially a mass produced item. Many are hoarding them when there's probably thousands upon thousands of copies of the cards out there. That Pikachu promo isn't super popular right now and went from $20 to about $5 now over the course of the last couple of months. It'll probably go down even more in the future.
    >>
    >>11932202
The cards used to be a throw in with the toy, now modern promotions sort of reversed where the card is the main thing. To the point where there were a few where you only got cards. I think the one coming up is there first one with something plastic in quite a while. The cards used to get bent really easily with how they packed it like in picrel but recent ones they've taken care to have them in little packs like a real booster.

Based, their Kabuto was one of my favorites from the Pokemania era. Peak for me was those I think Hasbro ones with the action features, there was a Sceptile who would pinwheel his arms when you pressed on his tail and a Metagross that would shoot discs. I had my Lego men act as their trainers.

At the current rate they're eventually gona make every small pokemon since they need new species every year.

Grabbed some figs recently. Been a while since a wave had no dupes for me and just grabbed everything. Wanted that Torkoal for a while. Didn't expect the Golett to have articulated legs cause the standing ones usually don't.
    >>
    >>11931982
    Yes, I will.

First off, the quality of the plastic is better. It's heavier and more durable. The paint apps are often very well done as it utilizes air and dry brushing techniques for various different accents. The slightly off model (depending on pokemon) are also, IMO, far more endearing and likeable. I'm also a fan of the TOMY gloss finish.

Of course, TOMY figures no longer have the gloss and use a cheaper different plastic these days, but I still prefer the newer ones over Jazzwares.

sculpt isn't accurate, ears aren't even at all, paint colors incorrect, lines throughout the stomach of the mold. But you say it's better? Alright brother.

    Yup they sure do

    >>
    >>11932572
Yes they still make them but the sculpts are more accurate now and the paint is standard matte instead of gloss. They also have multiple sublines with different poses and sizes.
    >>11932610
Pick your poison on any Moncolle gen 2 and above then. No matter what you choose it's better than anything Jazzwares put out.
    >>
    >>11931995
Oh dude, I had countless of these. They were go-to party favors at every kids' birthdays. I'll never forget the one kid in class who got Lugia and we were all so jealous.

I had the Charizard plush that had candy inside it.

Tons of water squirters and the top spinners.

    Marbles, of course.

Pic related, had this and it was fucking cool as hell. Best Zapdos figure IMO. Based Easter Bunny left it for me.

Also had the Charizard, Groupon, and Kyogre.

    >No matter what you choose it's better than anything Jazzwares put out.
like ppl were just saying, Moncolle has been shit with the character selections for years now. It's always the same Kanto shill mons and almost nothing else. They've cut back a ton of the number of releases too. Also nothing is in scale.

Most of Jazzwares quality is crappy, but there are far more interesting figures of pokemon that almost never get merchandise. Their scaling isn't too good but at least figures like Snorlax and Pikachu aren't going to be the same size.

    >it's better because it's off model
I mean honestly fair I do kind of miss the days before ironclad style guides. Can't deny old plastic is better too.
    >>
    >>11932624
    >the paint is standard matte instead of gloss
I honestly really prefer that now over the glossiness of the past figures. I remember as a kid wishing that some were more glossy (like ghost and water types) while others more matte (like rock and ground types).
This whole thread got me itching to buy more Moncolle/Tomy figures. May be I should go get some. I kind of switched to the Pokemon Kids line because they are cheaper, have a wider variety, and are being pumped out frequently. I pick up a couple from waves that I like (ex. Mega Kanghaskan and Mega Gyarados from this latest wave).
