Any PlaRail/TrackMaster fans here?Being a gaijin, my exposure to it is obviously from Thomas, but it never really appealed to me as a kid due to how unrealistic it looked, and even as an adult I'm not a huge fan of it. But after getting into Japanese N gauge I've come across some cheap PlaRail of some of the shinkansen and EMUs I have and I kind of want to buy them just as something to keep in their box and display (for stacking purposes, not perceived value).Like they are kind of charming in a "chibi" kind of way.I also stumbled upon "PlaRail Real Class" which are pretty fucking cool, very nice detail, they would have appealed to me as a kid. But for the price I might as well just buy an N gauge model for 2 or 3 times the price.
I wish Takara Tomy would make more steam locomotives in the Real Class line. All the ones they currently have are licensed trains.
Now that Mattel lost the license to Takara Tomy's patents, maybe now would be the right time to bring Plarail to the west again. After all, "third time's a charm".
i bought too many of their robots
>>11926254The last time they tried was baffling as fuck.It was that mostly fantastical "Hyper City" shit that wasn't even popular in Japan; why didn't they try marketing the real trains?
>>11926260Probably because most Plarail trains are Japanese, so they figure they won't sell outside their homeland. It also didn't help that Trackmaster was at its peak during that time, too.
>>11926334>>11926260It would be very niche
>>11927728Well, we got some more mainstream trains in the line. They could export it over.
This is kino

>>11924943I love the stuff that mixes trains and car tracks. It's like Hot Wheels meets Brio. I found a cool video on YouTube of a Japanese guy who built a giant custom train ferry boat for them. It was epic but I lost the link. Love those Japanese train ferries and wish they got more love internationally
