I'd be more willing to pick up the New X-Men figures if the entire team had actually worn the outfits in the show, but half the team switching to those while everyone else stayed in the 80s or 90s costumes was just one more thing that irked me about the back half of S2.
    >>
    >>11923805
The only two you're actually missing from New X-Men are Wolverine and Emma. Everyone else on Morrison's New X-Men team were dressed right, except Beast not being a cat. Wolverine was also on the X-Treme X-Men team at the time and would wear that uniform under his X-jacket. In fact, and the only reason I know this is because I just re-read New X-Men, during the arc when Cyclops, Wolverine and Fantomex invade the World to learn more about the Weapon Plus program, Wolverine actually loses his jacket and he's wearing his X-Treme uniform under it and wore that for the remainder of the story arc. So, you could say X-Treme Wolverine from a few years ago could go Jean and Scott. They'll definitely reuse Scott's torso and just combine that with the plane black pants lower half that Disney+ Hawkeye had or something like that to give us a Professor X in that look, though they'd need to give him the Morrison techno future chair. They'll get to Beast eventually, Emma is really the only one missing, but you may be able to cobble something together for her.

I am interested in the sword and can probably use the head but if I am going to pay more than $5/6 for an old, not valuable figure, I would at least like to harvest other pieces - but apparently he has jammies or sweatpants under that towel.
Any better old/cheap options for a good sword and an interesting head and other potential bits for customs? Thanks!

Logan was only on the Xtreme X-Men team for a single arc (GLMK) plus showing up as a guest star alongside Nightcrawler and Jean at the epilogue of the Khan arc.

    >>11923865
It's actually a huge thing, as Marvel explicitly declared the lack of Wolverine as a full time character as the reason Xtreme X-Men underperformed. Resulting in the mandate post Morrison that Ll three Xbooks (Claremont on UXM, Whedon on Astonishing, and Austen/Milligan on Adjectiveless) had to feature Logan front and center as part of their team roster. On top of Logan in the Avengers, his solo book, and the Agent of Hydra plotline.

Ok. I'm just sayin anon, Logan appeared in his X-Treme uniform during the Assault on Weapon Plus storyline, when both he and Scott ditched their jackets. So you could mix in the X-Treme Wolverine with your New X-Men if you wanted.

god that last thread was a mess. maybe im an outlier but ive bought less legends with every price increase since 2021. i used to buy full waves and rarely skipped any, but my purchases have sharply declined in the last 5 years and can count on one hand the number of times ive bought one at full price. it's not that i can't afford it, it's that i don't think it's worth it. ive been holding this stance all the way back to when hasbro decided the fin fang foom wave should cost more. now you can't even get a hulk at standard price unless you wait for clearance. it's ridiculous. even the smaller scale line puts hulk in his own sku and price point. it's ridiculous

X-Men Evolution is widely reviled due to its crappy first season. Also, internally, XME Rogue almost got the real Rogue perma killed. Grant Morrison both loved the idea of a goth Rogue but DESPISED how XME Goth Rogue was comic book Rogue (who Morrison described negatively as a glorified Southern cheerleader/Stacy slut archetype) doing an emo cosplay.

So he wanted to perma kill Rogue off and replace her with the attached picture, who would have the same power stealing abilities but he what Granted considered to be a "real G" goth. Thankfully Chris Claremont, who already lost Beast and Psylocke due to Morrison's bullshit, refused to let him steal Rogue away from him just to kill her off. Grant got so fucking pissy, he gave his and Quitely's new Rogue design a different name (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), gave her powers similar to Destiny (precognitive powers) and killed her off.

    >>
    Winter Soldier

James Barnes was a decorated World War 2 soldier turned traitor, defecting to the USSR after helping the Rosenbergs steal nuclear secrets for his communist masters. Barnes quickly became a fearsome and cruel assassin, ultimately mentoring the famed "Black Widow". However, when Black Widow dyed after failing to manipulate rookie super hero Hawkeye into killing Iron Man for her, Barnes swore revenge and has viewed to kill the archer.
    >>
    Venom

Eddie Brock was Hank Pyn's only friend growing up and as a reporter, covered Pym's career as a super scientist in the pages of the Daily Bugle newspaper. Sadly, his close association with Pym made him a target for the murderous Mr Sonister, who kidnapped Eddie and irreversibly bonded him an alien slime parasite that called itself Venom. The symbiote now controls Eddie's body and has warped him into the form of a murderous abomination that deeds off the brains of human beings. Though Pun still holds out hope he might one day be able to free Eddie from his hell, the symbiote gleefully vows to keep killing until it either kills Pym or Pym kills Eddie.
    >>
    Titania

Mary MacPherran was the victim sexual assault by Loki, in between battles with Thor. Wanting revenge, Mary made a deal with Magneto to unlock her latent mutant powers giving her super human strength and invulnerability. She has since used her powers to try and kill Loki for his assault on her but also Thor, vsho had argued that only Odin can punish Loki... Something that Mary refuses given the number of times Loki received nothing but a slap on the wrist for.

    >>
    Magneto

A super power supremacist with ties to the Third Reich, Magneto gained his mutant abilities of magnetic manipulation through extensive genetic manipulation to activate his latent X-Gene. Ironically, it is the man of iron, Iron Man who has repeatedly fooled his plans of world domination. A rivalry they got worse when Iron Man convinced Magneto's daughter into betraying her father and becoming a hero and Avenger. To foil Iron Man's advantage of having a team of friends to protect him, Magneto has formed the Masters of Evil to crush the Avengers, his daughter Wanda included...
    >>
    Irene Adler

The legendary master criminal Irene Adler gained infamy when she murdered famous detective Sherlock Holmes at the return of the 20th century. A Nazi sympathizer, Irene clashed with a young Captain America multiple times until she invoked a demon who dragged Irene into hell. Ultimately escaping hell and gaining precognitive powers at the coast of her sight, Adler has renewed her war against Captain America ultimately aligning herself with Magneto.
    >>
    Rogue

Little is known about the mutant named Rogue except that she can duplicate other people's power to devastating effect. Having become Magneto's lover after Scarlet Witch abandoned villainy and her monster dad, Rogue weeks to kill her would be steo daughter so Magneto will only think of her. Evil and calculating and utterly dangerous, Rogue is possibley a bigger threat than her lover.

It was more about Grant being a bitter little weirdo that is still pissy that Stacy Hoemaker wouldn't fuck him in high school. Rogue was Stacy and Grant wanted to get rid of her for good, going so far as claiming Gambit would be better off without his Stacy as far as Grant also claiming that he wanted to do a story where Wolverine tells Gambit after Rogue's death that Gambit would be better off being that weird looking Cajun thief outsider than being the guy with a hit Stacy GF.

I think in the longterm making up your own headcanon can be a good idea. It frees you from needing specific figures due to their Marvel dictated story roles and thus Hasbro won't be able to hostage 2pack you. When you control the world building, as many did in their younger days, you decide what you need to buy, not the corporations with their hype and focus on specific characters.

You're paying for Hasbro's move to Boston and the higher costs associated with that location vs Podunk Middle-of-Nowhere, Rhode Island. So basically they are sucking up all the money they can so they can have a new, nice comfy great looking office while you buy their figures from a run down hole like Walmart that doesn't even put the money into their buildings to have a damn ceiling over the warehouse rafters.

While you fags fight, I'm daydreaming about the potential of marvel figures once it is released by the talons of hasblo. Jada, Storm, Inart, LPZZ (china in general), better have plans ready once the license in dirt cheap due to hasblo's castration of the brand.

Sure there is an obscene about of hastards out there, but I strongly believe they will considerably slow down or even stop their purchases once they hit $30 a piece and there's no way hasblo will lower the price. They'll lose money and eventually let go of the license and then bob's your uncle the dark age of marvel figusre is finally OVER. DIE HASBLO DIE DIE DIE DIE

That's what I'm assuming too. I actually like the grey visor a bit more than the gold, and it actually lines up with him eventually switching to the visor he wears with the Astonishing costume. It'd be cool if they switch to the Astonishing costumes at some point in 97.

I wouldn't be surprised, especially after getting Danger last season. Can't say I haven't been tempted by the Astonishing figures they've put out so far either, especially since it looks like they're going to do reissues for people late to the party with the announcement of that new two pack. Also, seems like they really want everyone who collects X-Men shit to have that Astonishing/Anniversary Wolverine with how many times they've reissued it kek.

The Astonishing figs are great. I may be a bit biased because Astonishing X-Men was one of the things that got me into reading comics regularly as an adult, but the figures are definitely good figures. Cyke could stand to be a smidge taller but it's fine. It is nice they're reissuing him and Wolverine for those that missed them, they did get half the team out this past year or so. I expect them to eventually wear the costumes in 97, if I'll make it that long is another question, S2 was really rough for me.
    >>
    >>11926976
Man, those look great in a line up. And same, that and New X-Men were some of the first big runs I read through and remain favorites to this day. I've largely stayed in the lane of animated X-Men stuff just to conserve money and shelf space, but if neither of those were a concern, I'd absolutely pick those figures up (and still may anyway if I'm being completely honest with myself).

And yeah, I felt burnt by 97 S2 too. If I stick with it, it definitely won't be the show I watch as soon as a new episode is out every week. On the upside, I don't really feel compelled to pick up anything from the new wave as a result of the disappointment, so money saved I guess. I do kind of want the New X-Men figures, but that run being so divisive combined with the second season of 97 being generally ill received makes me feel like I could get them on sale if I wait awhile.
    >>
    >>11926991
Yeah Astonishing just really flowed well from New X-Men. They're still two of my all time favorite X runs aside from the classics like Claremont. I consider the classic stuff to be essentially fundamental and basically required reading. If you don't like that, you're not going to like X-Men period. Then stuff beyond that comes down to personal preference. Like I know a lot of people really like the Krakoa era stuff, but it personally wasn't for me. I'm more fond of the 2000s stuff all the way through Utopia.

And yeah I'm less apathetic towards the new wave than most. I have a bunch of X-Factor figs I've been getting on sale so getting an updated Lorna and Alex in those costumes is nice. Especially since that old two pack is expensive and quite frankly kinda sucks by today's standards. I'll absolutely grab the New X-Men figs, I'll throw X-Treme Wolverine in with them for now since he wore that under his X Jacket sometimes. I'm just crossing my fingers for a Chuck and Beast eventually. I know they'll never do Emma's turbo slut costume, but I feel like they could do the other two. Just gotta hope that it's Cat Beast or at least the peg is compatible with the Astonishing heads.

Civil War, House of M, M Day, Blood of Apocalypse, Deadly Genesis, Endsong, Rise and Fall of The Shi'Ar Empire, World War Hulk, End of Greys, Psylockes resurrecting, X23 debuting, the Academy X kids being massacred, Reverend Stryker and Magik's return, Storm's wedding, the hunt for Nitro, the death of Cable, Gambit becoming the X traitor, the return of The Marauders, death of Corair, Mystique join and betraying the X-Men and kidnapping Rogue after stabbing her nearly to death, Children of the Vault, etc.

There is a god damn reason WHY everyone considers the Milligan run the true successor to Morrison's New X-Men and Astonishing X-Men to be a joke series that only losers fucking like and worse than the Chuck Austen X-Men run.

Milligan pretty much fixed the Austen run, reuniting Alex and Lorna and unfucking Gambit) who Austen blinded and featuring cook villains and plots. It's also way fucking better that the Claremont run and Whedon's obscenely late as hell critical research failure filled final two arcs.

Just finished Avengers Armageddon. Book itself was pretty mediocre even if it did give us a new Miracle Man in 616. Those last few pages tho, holy shit. Implications on top of implications on top of the follow up to a nearly twenty year old story that is probably considered one of, if not the most controversial, storylines in all of Marvel, if not comics in general. If you know, you know. This was teased at NYCC
    >>
    >>11927189
So does Hasbro realize that MLs aren't worth as much as GIJOE and Star Wars or something? I collect all 3 lines and I'd say they're all worth about 22 bucks....in 2026 dollars.

I'm fairly close to what I would consider my end, my X-Men and Spider-Man collections are nearly full with any of the characters I'd desire. I'm certainly buying a lot less Marvel Legends than I have in the past 20 years but they did get me with the video game figures recently. All I really see me buying any time soon are those, any Maximum Carnage figures they still need to do for me to close that out, and any random D-listers from my never-evers list if they decide to thow me a bone.

I lost my collection in a nasty move so I'd like to restore it to about to where I was when that happened. I had a complete collection of movie villains and a mostly complete collection of heroes and etc. I'm willing to work to get most of them back.

Wouldn't mind if someone took another swing at Loki's Avengers look, though, the original sucked and the SHF was mid. Has there been a third party 1/12 version?

    >watch me be a clown and display my most irony poisoned self for 16 minutes
I now hate people who talk about toys.
btw voting with your wallet doesn't work because those who don't buy legends don't come close to the number of people that do. I honestly feel pity for anyone saying that a price hike will kill Marvel Legends, like how exhausting must it be to try to push this alternate reality where collectors are responsible with their money when they spend hundreds of dollars on big dolls like hot toys or terrible QC imports like mafex and figuarts only to buy entry level characters. since when a high price tag has stopped anyone when Mattel just released a $100 retail-tier Batman with humidifier.
    >>
I think I'm going to be truly heartbroken if the first ever Maggie action figure is the 97 version.
    >>
    >>11927401
I'm starting to get there with everything I've been collecting. 97 Beast gets here today and with that I'll have the full team. I could just pull out of X-Men stuff entirely at this point and be happy with what I've got, but I'm honest enough with myself to know there'll always be something to tempt me. I've also been going through Claremont's X-Men in its entirety for most of this year, so no guarantees my shelf won't eventually get as stacked as yours as a result (great display btw).
    >>
    >>11927548
I'd prefer that honestly. I think the stylization of 97's art direction is much more within Hasbro's ability to pull off than Alex Ross's photorealism.
    >>
    >>11927401
Mafex releases Beast and my Blue team is complete, and thus my collecting goal for X-Men. I've got a handful of Marvel Legends for stuff Medicom won't do, and while I can think of a few odds and ends I wouldn't mind, I don't see Hasbro getting to them before they ratchet the price up past their already absurd MSRP.
Just dont have the sickness, as they say.

With the price hikes, I certainly won't be upgrading things so willy nilly like I have been. Also, impulse purchases are going to cut back dramatically unless they're on sale. Honestly, this year hit so many of my wants that I think I'll be good on most things for a while. I have most versions of characters I want in the various costumes I want. I guess my Marvel days may be slowing down. Especially since I don't really collect MCU stuff anymore, I did make an exception for Born Again DD, Frank, and BND Spidey, but other than that, I don't care.

He was originally $80, I didn't have to pay shipping since he was that much, but after taxes it was still like $87, so I don't think $90 is a bad deal at all based on what he retailed for.

    >>
    >>11927941
This has been my argument the whole time. Just because this Batman exists doesn't mean someone who wants a Spider-Man is going to buy this Batman instead. Oh wow, Jada Street Fighter toys have better articulation than Legends, too bad I don't give a fuck about Street Fighter, so it means absolutely nothing to me.
    >>
    >>11927945
Right? Like the implication is, "people will buy Jada Invincible because the figures are better" which seems retarded outside of people who collect toys just to buy toys and don't care about the characters (so like the people who buy those third party bug guys who are just cool toys)

Maybe they'll hurt sales a bit, I guess? Like if people like DC and Marvel and they can only pick one toy that payday

I often wonder why people still read modern comics when all i hear about them is people complaining about them. It must be some silent majority still enjoying them
    >>
    >>11928179
To be fair it's not like I pay for them, and the only stuff I really actively follow is ASM because I feel obligated after reading it for more than 15 years. I only checked out the new crossover since it was feeling very 2000s and I have nostalgia for that era, since that was when I really go into comics after only being exposed to stuff like the cartoons. It wasn't that good, but it brought back White Nick Fury after like a decade+ of being gone, implied that Micky Moran Miracle Man is in 616 Marvel, and teased a follow up to OMD which could either right the ship, or the more likely, tank Marvel. Either way, it'll be a fun shit show to watch.

Also, not all modern comics are bad. You occasionally get something fun like Fraction Hawkeye, Waid Daredevil, Tom King Vision, and so on. It's not all terrible, even if the majority of it is.

I took a look but Ironman implying Peter's marriage is The Key to Everything kind of weirded me out. Maybe comics at some point got too metatextual. Where the reader's perception is inordinately emphasized in events in the comics themselves. Like Spider-Man being treated as important at all when he's just got a street level power set. He's just treated as important because of the sales he generates in the real world.
