What are the oldest toys you've found still for sale at a retail store?
>>11921496MIB vintage Battle Bones, mint for 40 eurobucks about fifteen years ago. Comic Store in Germany.
>>11921496Admiral Holdo in Walgreens last year. Keep in mind Last Jedi came out in 2027.
>>119215212017. Derp.
2018, in a Joann Fabrics of all places. Came across some beanie babies that looked like they had been sitting there for literal decades. I remember in specific the white parts on the bluejay turned completely yellow. Looked at the tush tag and sure enough: 1999Did an ebay search on the spot for each one on my phone. None were worth enough to disturb their resting place, so there they remain for decades to come.
>>11921496>>11921496>>11921496Around 1997 I saw a GiJoe Retaliator (1990) still in a Roses department store. They were kind of a regional k-mart in the Carolinas - still a few around. They are like the most ghetto dirty dollar general now.In 1998 I worked in Hills where the stockroom was like were they stored the Ark of the Covenant in IJ. I was dragging casefuls of stuff like the Kenner Aliens v. Predator set out on to the floor.
>>11921496About 15 years ago a German anon found a store full of brand new stock from the late 80s and 90s. I got some tokusatsu stuff middlemanned from him. Shit was fucking crazy
>>11921496Wal-Mart took over Woolco locations here, and in 2004 when my girlfriend was shopping for panties I spotted something stuck in between wall-mounted shelf units and it turned out to be a vintage ROTJ Prune Face with a 50 cent Woolco clearance sticker on him.
>>11921530Joann Fabrics closed down 3 years ago anon, they likely were incinerated in that massive product clearance they did of the stores in 2025 of product that no on would take.
>>11921496I've had a few moment but the strangest was two Star Brigade GIjoe BAATs at a Walmart in 2019, they were listed at $17 a piece. for the card discoloration I assumed they just got lost between shelves until a major remodel occurred. Honorable mention was back in 2014 finding a copy of Sega Saturn's Guardian Heroes at a K-mart clearance bin for $50. It was the only Saturn game there too and the next oldest some GBA sports games and GBA samurai jack.
A copy of Sonic 2 on Game Gear was sold at a Toys R Us in 2018, as confirmed by a market research analyst.https://archive.is/sk8R2
>>11921496Neo Shifters at Toys R Us, 2016Adventure Quest Worlds guy, still at the price it was back in like 2007, during Toys R Us closing season
>>11921496My local Ollies still has Oz the Great and Powerful.
>>11921496When toysrus was clearencing everything they somehow got sticker sets from spider man 2 out on shelves in 2018. Also some old 2011 ninjago spinners were on sale then too>>11921544>I spotted something stuck in between wall-mounted shelf units and it turned out to be a vintage ROTJ Prune Face with a 50 cent Woolco clearance sticker on him.Did you get him?
>>11921496One time I found a Shaq Fu cartridge at some random mom & pop grocery store in Delaware during like the Wii days. That was cool. Wish I had bought it.
>>11921496When i worked at K mart in 2011-2012. i was cleaning up and looked under the bottom of some random shelf in the toy section and saw sealed packs on first gen Digimon cards, Road Champs BXS fingerbikes, and Justice League figure sets.I was so baffled that they had been there so long, i decided to look under other shelves Where i found a 12" Star Wars Collector Series Boba Fett figure. I tried to buy all of what i could find they had been clearanced out and they wouldnt let me buy it and told me to throw it away.I left them outside and picked them up later after we closed, lol
>>11921496my family was still getting me kenner B&R figs way into 2004-6 somehow, got this guy in my Easter basket one year
>>11921878>left them outside and picked them up laterBased
>>11921878>I left them outside and picked them up later after we closed, lolI like you
>>11921882I still remember KB Toys still having toys like these at the time, and Goodwill was still good. Maybe that's how. Also i thought Easter just got you chocolate and candy
Walmart in GA 2017.Found an unopened Toybiz LOTR Two Towers Gollum Figure (the bendy wire one with the rock that plays voice lines). It had been so long that the inventory number was not showing up at the register. Sold it to me for $15 since that was the going price on eBay at the time when the manager looked it up on his phone to allow the transaction.
>>11921878>I left them outside and picked them up later after we closed, lol
>>11921874These, right? I remember that thread, super cool to think how these stores had such nuggets hidden away for so long. Closest I got to something that old was near the end of Kmart's life, when I found the emptied cardboard tray of what appeared to be plush Keychain for the 2003 Hulk movie. No Hulks. But I have found product.
>>11921912Sometime around 2021-2022, I was wandering through the toy section at a Kohls and found a Marvel Universe Black Cat. Very beat-up, and marked down by a lot.
I went into our local Wal-Greens in 2015 or so and found a Universe Sunstreaker. When Toys R Us was closing they still had some of the old Naruto figures.
>>11921914Battle Claw never stood a chance
>>11921878Based. Do you have any of these figures left anymore? If you do take a pic for proof plz
>>11921912Holy shit thats them. I mightve made that thread myself. Does anyone have the thread archived?
>>11921875If video games count, I remember seeing MadWorld for the Wii being sold a supermarket in 2014.
>>11921496The one that springs to mind is finding a full box of Mega Bloks Halo Series 2 blind bags at a Dollarama in 2019, nearly a decade and over a dozen series after they originally hit shelves. Pic related, bought a complete set and still have them unopened for a rainy day or something.Thinking on it some more, the K'NEX Titanfall sets currently on sale at the local liquidation centre were originally released 12 years ago.
>>11921878kek, the good ending
>>11921572It's not quite on that level, but I bought a new copy of Blast Corps for N64 from a Toys R Us in late 2007 or early 2008. There was a cart full of N64 games marked down to $5. A few odds and ends I don't remember, but it was like 80% copies of Blast Corps.I also got a Powermaster Optimus Prime from a local hardware store in 1994. I was a little young for Transformers and missed the heyday, but somehow my dad found out this random store had a some Transformers in the back. My guess is they got a case for Christmas one year and they didn't sell. The bastards charged me $40 for it too.
>>11921986Unfortunately not. I made a big move shortly after and a subsequent move back about two years later. When I moved back home I got rid of a lot of things I had to cover some of the cost of moving. I wish I had kept at least a couple of the bmx bikes and the figures they came with.
>>11921496Maybe 2005, found some Tiger handheld LCD games in a Dunham's Sporting Goods. They were the sports ones from the late 80s
I found new lego movie 2 and lego vidiyo sets in one small official store once, and that was this year, so they had it just sitting there for 7 and 5 years respectively
A POTF2 Luke with Speeder bike showed up at the local Walmart sometime after 2010, kek.
>>11921874Yeah, 50 cents for a Prune Face was worth it. His card was in rough shape and I punctured the blister extricating him so I displayed him loose for a while and called him Panty Face to honour his origin and the many terrible things he saw over the years.
>>11921878>they wouldnt let me buy it and >told me to throw it away
A single one of these popped up at radioshack in 2017. They went out of business very shortly after.
>>11922618Not a toy but when the Radio Shack by me was closing they had a sealed copy of Pokemon Coliseum. It felt nice opening a new Gamecube game.
>>11921496>oldestG1 transformers at a toy liquidation store in 2005.
The little coastal suburb I moved to 3 years ago has a puzzle shop in the main drag, it has some old shit like Kenner SW, DC Direct, mcfart Spawn, and DST Angel, Buffy and those vinmates 2pks or whatever those were called. Some of it was cheap, the Spawn looked like it would break if you breathe on it too hard, most expensive was probably $14.99 (buffy, angel + some of the kenner sw) but all the spawn was like $3-7
>>11921496Went to a KB Toys in 2004 and saw Commander Cash and Green Lantern Earthworm Jim. Is that unusual?
>>11923561EVERY KB had Commander Cash until they closed. But the Earthworm Jim is a little weird. I thought that version was a Toyfare exclusive? I have never seen one in the wild.
>Found a 2003 Bionicle Kraata pack on the same store shelf for years until like 2010 when I finally bought it>Found 2013 Lego Star Wars sets for sale at TRU a couple of years before it closed>Wal Mart near me was selling a PS2 slim well into the PS4 era
>>11921496New Adventures of He-Man SlushHead in a general store in the middle of the desert. This was in 2014-2015. The card was heavily faded and looked like it went through hell. He was next to a Toybiz Spiderman 2 Doc Ock figure.
>>11921988I bought metal gear rising revengence at a grocery store in like 2018
>>11921553Fuck, I loved that Guardian Heroes game so much when I rented a copy.
>>11923652I think green EWJ was a mail in promo for the VHS tapes.
>>11922244Those old bikes are comparable with the scout trooper that released around 2010. And they had exploding battle damage spring action!
I remember hearing about a potf chewbacca being found at a toys r us during a clearance sale in 2018
>>11922618Super hydraulic instantaneous transporter
>>11921543>About 15 years ago a German anon found a store full of brand new stock from the late 80s and 90s.That place was legendary.
Due to a system glitch at my local walmart, .hack//Quarantine stayed on the shelf for full price all the way up to the PS4 era. Easy profit for a knowledgeable scalper, but I guess no one noticed but me.
>>11921543>>11925910Not Germany but Austria, I remember the store was in Vienna. Still have all the pictures he posted stored somewhere. He also middlemaned me a couple of toys. Incredible place that felt like it was stuck in time.
>>11921496lots of disney shit from 10-15 years ago is still at retail stores because it was aimed towards an audience that doesnt exist. so the novelty of finding some old toy has worn off for me a bit.
Ollies and other dumping ground stores shouldn't count. It's just not fair at that point. My local Ollies still has Shang-Chi, Eternals, and Wakanda Forever toys from five years ago that just will not move. I wonder when stores like that just eat the loss and toss inventory because it's clogging up shelves for too long.
There is still shit ton of 2015 lego star wars toys on my local store. I highly doubt they will ever sell these.
In1996 after high school, my buddy who went on to be a union painter asked if I wanted to come help him on a big painting job he landed. It was in some backwater town in the middle of nowhere. So I rode out with him and worked on it. There was nothing in the town except a gas station, liquor store with a bait shop, IGA food store and a Ben Franklin. I wandered in the Ben Franklin and felt like I was in an ancient world, they had Super Powers and Secret Wars figs on the pegs and some Demolition Man figs but I didn’t get those. Needless to say I bought them all at $4.99 each! Wonder Woman and Mantis had Clark Kent offer stickers on them, Tyr, Golden Pharaoh, and Darkseid didn’t. SW was black claw Wolverine, regular Spider-Man, Daredevil and Kang. They weren’t yellowed or anything, just dusty. I of course asked if they had anymore in back but that was it. It would’ve been crazy if they had Cyborg.
>>11921522Hello, McFly, somebody at home?
I got this one at the toy fair for $40 l, i check online and retailers still have it at $200 lmao
There's a convenience store across the street from a free clinic a town over from mind that has a dusty, forgotten, still-in-box Wetworks Pilgrim figure in their toy aisle, next to what I assume are runoff Lightyear toys and standard issue foam dart guns.
>>11921496In around 2012 I found several unopened new Roporak and Oohnorak (2005) Lego Bionicle canisters on the shelf of a local retail store that was closing down. I only had enough for the Roporak but coincidentally found the other at a garage sale in worse shape later on.It was the root of all my dreams where I randomly find old lego at a store.
