We got some news at NYCC, the end of DC, some sports figures, the announcement the Judge Dredd license, some more Fallout and GoW, and some new Spawn.

Notably was the new body that King Spawn will be sporting, including inlaid elbows and knees (resulting in a pinless look) as well as what seem to be thigh swivels as well. Considering since Fortnite they've been essentially using the same formula, it seems likely that this will soon be the general formula for all their figures. I'm not sure why all the King Spawns always feature this kind of head (especially since it comes with 2) when that isn't even how he looks on the cover of King Spawn #1. (pic is less flashy and clear, so I'll post it second)

And then there's Diablo Immortal Warlock Spawn, who's still sporting the old articulation scheme. I wonder if they make the other 2 versions if they'll use the new bodies.

    Articulation scheme.
    >>
    >>11920788
    In Todd's hands.
    >>

    about goddamn time
    >>
Apparently McFarlane hired a Chinese designer and these look awfully like Chinese designed joints. That alone will probably put him ahead on figure technology over all the other American companies, it's like having a Nazi scientist.

Great, now give us HBO Toon Spawn.
    >>
    >>11920809
Where did you hear that from? The way the knees and elbows are done have been done before domestically by NECA and also Savage Crucible. They do look integrated nicely, so if they can hit a good range, then they'll be great. The way the thighs are done definitely looks like that more modern AY/Chinese designed thigh cuts. We'll have to see how these turn out in-hand, but that in-hand look at it looks very good. Only thing notably missing is the lower neck joint but it seems to have everything else one could want.
    >>
    >>11920809
now if only he hired chinese sculptors too he might actually make good toys

    >>11920854
Interesting, but almost seems like conjecture. I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone from the factory though, since they often help out with articulation and ensuring that 3d models can actually work in physical plastic. If they actually hired a designer to improve their sculpts/articulation scheme, then that's great, and hopefully that extends to all their products. If it works as well as it looks this could be the biggest shift in the company since Fortnite got articulation added into all their figures, and DC got the wired capes to be mostly standard. If they can keep their prices down, could be a turning point for them. I wonder if they'll join the rest of the domestic companies (aside from NECA I think) and drop their scale. Their sports figures are already 6".
    >>
    >>11920788
this is how neca does their rare double joints and they kinda suck. we'll see how it works out
    >>
    >>11920787
We already have a Spawn thread, asshole!
    >>11905353
    >>
    >>11920883
I wouldn't say they suck, they usually work fairly well, if look a bit weird. Looking at the prototype, they look unusually well integrated, such that I'm not even sure if i'm seeing where they could move. Savage Crucible also has joints like this and those work pretty well.
    >>
    >>11920897
yeah thats it, they work aight but they look bad. then again, most double joints look bad so

    >>11920896

Dunno how this Spawn will turn out but I do love that sword design, I wonder if it'll fit into my Unkval's hands.

I don’t know why, but that sword is how I imagine Malebolgia‘s dick to look like.

    >>11920789
Why start with a shitty ver. indtead of Classic Spawn?
    >>
    >>11921339
It's just the industry standard. Toy companies typically like to put out the shitty version of a fan favorite character first, then make a better version later.

    >Implying the Hush look isn't just as iconic as the Neal Adams design.
come on now, it's literally his default appearance in any modern setting.
    >>
    >>11921491
Besides, a better analogy would be Hasbro launching a new Marvel toyline with pic related, before releasing Thor's more iconic look.
    >>
    >>11921494
This is a much better example.
    >>
    >>11921494

    >>11920787
I'm not sure why this guy is an Elite. Accessory wise he just has this sword/dagger, an off-hand fetish, and 2 extra sets of hands. He seems to have a wash but his paint job isn't particularly complex to warrant this, I don't think.
    >>
    >Mcfarlane thread
    >look at cover and its Spawn
    >look inside it's all Spawn and one DC figure
    ...really?
    >>
    >>11921535
Based on the current licenses I think I'm only interested in Spawn at this time, and especially this new articulation scheme being developed. If you wanna talk about the bug hunters, feel free to post them up!
    >>
What's the consensus on Spawn figures since they were brought back? I haven't bought a Spawn toy since 2004
    >>
    >>11921858
The best modern Spawn is the MK one, the rest are mediocre to shit
    >>
    >>11920787
    >>11921524
Huh I actually like this as a variant design coming off of MK Spawn and the accessories are actually cool. The price bump sucks but if nothing else this looks sick as a standalone piece.
    >>
    >>11920787
It's too late. They should've switched to better engineering partway through the dc line. They might still have the license if so. And now they're back to only having Spawn and MK as interesting licenses
    >>
    >>11922133
honestly, even if they fix the pins it won’t fix the weird leggy sculpts, the hard diapers, or the insane pricing, they need to just start over when it comes to toys
    >>
    >>11922139
McFarlane hasn't had hard diapers since early in the DC line.
    >>
    >>11922181
Why have the diapers to begin with, is it to appeal to the Pamperchu-esque diaper fetishists on /ctg/?
    >>
    >>11920787
What licenses does McFarty still have?
I had some expectation about Persona 3 Reload but apparently it was one time deal. And to be honest pretty garbage figure.
    >>
    >>11922315
Almost every company is starting to do soft crotches. Mcf, Bandai, Jada, Mattel. It's just the implementation from some are better than the other.
    >>
    >>11922315
No idea, if it were up to me theyd have the normal crotches that Marvel Legends figures have. Soft diapers are more likely to rip
    >>
    >>11922315
why does every gi joe classified figure have a soft rubbery over lay on every crotch of every figure?
    >>
    >>11922357
Not counting purely statueshit stuff, it's mostly gaming and sports with some sprinklings of anime and some comic licenses. They also recently revealed they have the Judge Dredd license and Tomb Raider, at least for Lara Croft. I think Warhammer is their longest running license so far? It's at least as old as when they obtained the DC license and is still ongoing since they are still releasing product for it.

McFarlane losing DC will be a hit to them but they're doing pretty much fine otherwise, That deal they signed with Sony is gonna give them a lot of pull from their catalog on what they can make figures on. We're already seeing it with God of War and Helldivers.
    >>
You think there's any chance they'd do figures for the new Harry Potter show? I got that Voldemort and it was shockingly decent.

I'm thankful mcfarlane has largely moved away from their dark, gritty, well painted style as now i no longer need to spend much money on them. Besides Malebolgia I can't even think of a modern Spawn character he could make that I would want now that CotS and Nightmare Spawn got made. Maybe The Curse.

Most of it is in storage or about to be cause I lost my space to having kids. I had pics from when I had around 80 DCMV figures but can't find them. I just checked my action figure 411 page and it was around 290 DC figures with 10 being non Mcfarlanes. I also have a bunch of Bleach, KnY, Dunc, and Spawns. I wanted to get into Neca's Defenders of the Earth but the four I got from Target all broke in a month. I've been reluctant to pay full price since but haven't had any issues with the Universal Monsters I've picked up at Ross.

I wonder if theres a genuine reason so much is being charged. Sometimes these elite figures have more paint and articulation, but these dont seem to, neither does the Diablo Spawn. Used to be that if you bought a McF figure you're paying one of the lowest prices on the domestic market but now these figures that are no more impressive than their mid $20s stuff is $50.
    >>
    >>11928775
McFarlane has hit rough economic times (like everyone else) they were not prepared for. So $50 figures are the order of the day. They know there are enough crazy whales who want figures from specific IP that they will pay any price
    >>
    >>11928775
Those are $35 and haven't been released yet. I think you're talking about one of the GOW4 versions, though I agree almost none of these "elite editions" should be $50-60.
