We got some news at NYCC, the end of DC, some sports figures, the announcement the Judge Dredd license, some more Fallout and GoW, and some new Spawn. Notably was the new body that King Spawn will be sporting, including inlaid elbows and knees (resulting in a pinless look) as well as what seem to be thigh swivels as well. Considering since Fortnite they've been essentially using the same formula, it seems likely that this will soon be the general formula for all their figures. I'm not sure why all the King Spawns always feature this kind of head (especially since it comes with 2) when that isn't even how he looks on the cover of King Spawn #1. (pic is less flashy and clear, so I'll post it second)And then there's Diablo Immortal Warlock Spawn, who's still sporting the old articulation scheme. I wonder if they make the other 2 versions if they'll use the new bodies.
>>11920787Articulation scheme.
>>11920788In Todd's hands.
>>11920787about goddamn time
Apparently McFarlane hired a Chinese designer and these look awfully like Chinese designed joints. That alone will probably put him ahead on figure technology over all the other American companies, it's like having a Nazi scientist.
>>11920787>>11920788>>11920789Great, now give us HBO Toon Spawn.
>>11920809Where did you hear that from? The way the knees and elbows are done have been done before domestically by NECA and also Savage Crucible. They do look integrated nicely, so if they can hit a good range, then they'll be great. The way the thighs are done definitely looks like that more modern AY/Chinese designed thigh cuts. We'll have to see how these turn out in-hand, but that in-hand look at it looks very good. Only thing notably missing is the lower neck joint but it seems to have everything else one could want.
>>11920809now if only he hired chinese sculptors too he might actually make good toys
>>11920813https://x.com/Spicy_Psy_Duck/status/2109106971836387472
>>11920854Interesting, but almost seems like conjecture. I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone from the factory though, since they often help out with articulation and ensuring that 3d models can actually work in physical plastic. If they actually hired a designer to improve their sculpts/articulation scheme, then that's great, and hopefully that extends to all their products. If it works as well as it looks this could be the biggest shift in the company since Fortnite got articulation added into all their figures, and DC got the wired capes to be mostly standard. If they can keep their prices down, could be a turning point for them. I wonder if they'll join the rest of the domestic companies (aside from NECA I think) and drop their scale. Their sports figures are already 6".
>>11920788this is how neca does their rare double joints and they kinda suck. we'll see how it works out
>>11920787We already have a Spawn thread, asshole!>>11905353
>>11920883I wouldn't say they suck, they usually work fairly well, if look a bit weird. Looking at the prototype, they look unusually well integrated, such that I'm not even sure if i'm seeing where they could move. Savage Crucible also has joints like this and those work pretty well.
>>11920897yeah thats it, they work aight but they look bad. then again, most double joints look bad so>>11920896this is mcfarlane general i'll post my dune dudes if i gotta
>>11920787Dunno how this Spawn will turn out but I do love that sword design, I wonder if it'll fit into my Unkval's hands.
>>11920787I don’t know why, but that sword is how I imagine Malebolgia‘s dick to look like.
>>11920788>>11920789Why start with a shitty ver. indtead of Classic Spawn?
>>11921339It's just the industry standard. Toy companies typically like to put out the shitty version of a fan favorite character first, then make a better version later.
>>11921487>Implying the Hush look isn't just as iconic as the Neal Adams design.come on now, it's literally his default appearance in any modern setting.
>>11921491Besides, a better analogy would be Hasbro launching a new Marvel toyline with pic related, before releasing Thor's more iconic look.
>>11921494This is a much better example.
>>11921494I am waiting for this to be released....>>11920787I'm not sure why this guy is an Elite. Accessory wise he just has this sword/dagger, an off-hand fetish, and 2 extra sets of hands. He seems to have a wash but his paint job isn't particularly complex to warrant this, I don't think.
>Mcfarlane thread>look at cover and its Spawn>look inside it's all Spawn and one DC figure...really?
>>11921535Based on the current licenses I think I'm only interested in Spawn at this time, and especially this new articulation scheme being developed. If you wanna talk about the bug hunters, feel free to post them up!
What's the consensus on Spawn figures since they were brought back? I haven't bought a Spawn toy since 2004
>>11921858The best modern Spawn is the MK one, the rest are mediocre to shit
>>11920787>>11921524Huh I actually like this as a variant design coming off of MK Spawn and the accessories are actually cool. The price bump sucks but if nothing else this looks sick as a standalone piece.
>>11920787It's too late. They should've switched to better engineering partway through the dc line. They might still have the license if so. And now they're back to only having Spawn and MK as interesting licenses
>>11922133honestly, even if they fix the pins it won’t fix the weird leggy sculpts, the hard diapers, or the insane pricing, they need to just start over when it comes to toys
>>11922139McFarlane hasn't had hard diapers since early in the DC line.
>>11922181Why have the diapers to begin with, is it to appeal to the Pamperchu-esque diaper fetishists on /ctg/?
>>11920787What licenses does McFarty still have?I had some expectation about Persona 3 Reload but apparently it was one time deal. And to be honest pretty garbage figure.
>>11922315Almost every company is starting to do soft crotches. Mcf, Bandai, Jada, Mattel. It's just the implementation from some are better than the other.
>>11922315No idea, if it were up to me theyd have the normal crotches that Marvel Legends figures have. Soft diapers are more likely to rip
>>11922315why does every gi joe classified figure have a soft rubbery over lay on every crotch of every figure?
>>11922357Not counting purely statueshit stuff, it's mostly gaming and sports with some sprinklings of anime and some comic licenses. They also recently revealed they have the Judge Dredd license and Tomb Raider, at least for Lara Croft. I think Warhammer is their longest running license so far? It's at least as old as when they obtained the DC license and is still ongoing since they are still releasing product for it.McFarlane losing DC will be a hit to them but they're doing pretty much fine otherwise, That deal they signed with Sony is gonna give them a lot of pull from their catalog on what they can make figures on. We're already seeing it with God of War and Helldivers.
You think there's any chance they'd do figures for the new Harry Potter show? I got that Voldemort and it was shockingly decent.
>>11921491That head sculpt is shitty.>>11921494This looks fucking cool, actually.
>>11921535I picked up a Black Templar today. I will buy every Templar figure Todd releases, instantly, with no hesitation.Elite Spawn and Hellboy are pretty rad, too.
Ro Laren wishes she could carry a chainsword 24/7
>>11923968I enjoy my Helldiver fine but I really hope Mcfarlane releases a non Gold Label HD2 Field Chemist. It's my favorite armor set from that game.
>>11923969The Templar does look nice. I see you customized your Sister of Battle and it definitely needed it.
>>11923989Helldiver seems really cool. I've heard whispers about maybe some Helghast from Killzone. I'd go apeshit for those and probably pick up some Helldivers for them to hang out with.>>11923992He uh, he's cool as hell and I love having a big Templar but the helmet and flamethrower aren't my thing so I'm waiting for an Emperor's Champion or some Sword Brethren. And yeah, it was the Witcher headswap for the Sister. She's been waiting for a Templar buddy for a while now.
Are the parts from all the Marines interchangeable? It seems like they should be but I want to be sure before I buy this thing.
Kratos is bored to be a mcfarlane gaming edition
>>11924030At least it's the actual God of War and not God of Walking.
>>11924181God of Walking is the Elite Edition to bilk modern PS paypigs
>>11924030This is such a step down from the decade year old figure I already have.
>>11924203At least it won't breaka.
>>11924222Kek, true
>>11924222>>11924245It's a McFart. The chances of it breaking are equally as high as a NECA.
>>11924222All my Neca Kratos figures are still fine, including the Ares armor one from nearly 20 years ago.
I'm thankful mcfarlane has largely moved away from their dark, gritty, well painted style as now i no longer need to spend much money on them. Besides Malebolgia I can't even think of a modern Spawn character he could make that I would want now that CotS and Nightmare Spawn got made. Maybe The Curse.
>>11924203Damn that looks like some anorexic shit.
>>11920788You can clearly see that all the joint cuts are where they should be, but none of the pegs are long enough so it still won’t have a good range of motion.
>>11925195As expected of McFarlane
>>11925195its a render. the ankles and wrists aren't changed and they work just fine. the pegs aren't even the thing that matters, its what's between the pegs
>>11924486Prove it
>>11924222All my Neca Kratos figures are broken, including the Ares armor one from nearly 20 years ago.
>>11924486I have 12 neca figures, 4 are broken. I have 320 mcfarlane figures, 6 are broken.
>>11925452>I have 320 mcfarlane figuresHot damn, pics?
>>11925454Most of it is in storage or about to be cause I lost my space to having kids. I had pics from when I had around 80 DCMV figures but can't find them. I just checked my action figure 411 page and it was around 290 DC figures with 10 being non Mcfarlanes. I also have a bunch of Bleach, KnY, Dunc, and Spawns. I wanted to get into Neca's Defenders of the Earth but the four I got from Target all broke in a month. I've been reluctant to pay full price since but haven't had any issues with the Universal Monsters I've picked up at Ross.
>>11921494I want this It was the Marvel vs DC look
>>11925483Impressive. Sorry your neca breaka'd, hard to find Defenders of the Earth anything.
>>11920818If you like shit that breaks instantly, maybe... chinesium can't be called "toys," nondurable goods at best.
>>11924009More or less, yeah. That's honestly one of the big upsides for Mcfarlane figures is that they're easy to disassemble and customize. What are you looking to swap?
All right, Todd. NOW your God of War line has my attention. Ares, Hades, Hercules, and some of the other gods would be neat to see.
>>11925764
>>11925595Neca is a chink company?!
>>11925765>Aaand he's right behind me, isn't he?
>>11925764>>11925765Just need an Asura for him to bend over and give the Spartan salute. Maybe Jada can provide, they've got the Street Fighter license.
>>11925765Kratos looks so bored
>>11926808At least he's looking straight ahead...
>>11925765saw this thing in walmart and thought about it for a second until i saw it was $50todds out of his god damn mind
>>11928775I wonder if theres a genuine reason so much is being charged. Sometimes these elite figures have more paint and articulation, but these dont seem to, neither does the Diablo Spawn. Used to be that if you bought a McF figure you're paying one of the lowest prices on the domestic market but now these figures that are no more impressive than their mid $20s stuff is $50.
>>11928775McFarlane has hit rough economic times (like everyone else) they were not prepared for. So $50 figures are the order of the day. They know there are enough crazy whales who want figures from specific IP that they will pay any price
>>11928775Those are $35 and haven't been released yet. I think you're talking about one of the GOW4 versions, though I agree almost none of these "elite editions" should be $50-60.
>>11928775>>11928781beause video game companies are going broke form all the gay woke shit so they gotta make money somehow
>>11928818It isn't based on license cost or dc figures would be the ones costing the most
>>11928839dc and warner brothers are facing massive issues as well, holy shit all of american media is going through a tremendous restructuring right now in all forms of entertainment
>>11928841DC wants as much money as it can vacuum up
>>11928841It isn't just entertainment, corporations across the board are restructuring. I'm sure mcfarlane will be the last toy maker to have AI sculpting their figures just like they couldn't figure out pinless, but for companies that try to cut all the fat they can it's probably coming
>>11928865everything but to actually bring back production and give Americans jobs and allow China to continually spy on America
>>11928818proof?
>>11928883the new god of war is gonna kill santa monica studio
>>11928808those are in fact the $35 ones but they're also in walmarts now, along with whatever $50 elite there is
>>11928918Oh, you're right, my bad. Weirdly, reviews/in hand pics for Zeus have been out since before the figures even went up for pre-order and most sites aren't getting them till November/December. Also, the lightning effects color was changed from the yellow of the promo pics to blue for some reason.
>>11928866the market has decided on that front, cheap foreign products won. there is no going back
This costs $50
>>11929498This cost $45.
>>11929849Both aren't more than 20 bucks
>>11929876*worth
This Black Templar cost $30. The artist proof Marine for the helmet and boltgun cost $20. The chain cost $1.It's now the coolest Black Templar toy in the world.
This Sister of Battle? Yeah, she has elbows.
McFarlane Toys will never figure out how to do elbows correctly--True or False?
>>11929943Just ordered the new wave. Really wish the line would stop glazing the Ultramarines and Blood Angels though. Hopefully the lines sticks around long enough to give more traitor legions and maybe some loyalist Emperor's Children.
>>11930466False >>11920789
>>11931265I don't see the elbows there
Was Anthony’s Customs right about McFarlane Toys? Have they gotten lazy?
>>11932129The whole necrobumping all your dead threads doesn't really work anymore Zat. You've been gone from /toy/ too long. Maybe keep it that way, You're not even annoying anymore, just pathetic.
