Damn. It looks like all interest immediately dropped after NYCC.
>>11921440Actually kinda stoked for this one. Got a new rifle on standby for her, just need to find some passable magazine pouches.
>>11921445do a head-swap with Lara and repaint the outfit, cut off the shirt around her waist, and she's a good Nevada Desert Lara.
>>11921440Yeah. The reveals were dogshit.>>Mort character Hardball>>October Guard crap character >>Shitty DEI OC Dreadnok>>Fortnite Black repaint of Sneak Peak they doesn't resemble the classic figure at all>>Garbage modernized Shipwreck >>Retro card Chuckles has crap for accessories and like Retro Cover Girl is based on the cartoon versynot toy version >>Retro Zarana is basically the original release but with the hair now firmly part of the head sculpt (and it's the comic hair they picked) with only superficial color changes Finally Thunder Machine is boring
>>11921453>Shitty DEI OC DreadnokPEGWARMER. If you're gonna toss out a new Dreaknok, at least make him look like he fits in with the rest of them. Flatline looks more like a Ninja Turtles character to me. >Garbage modernized Shipwreck That one looks cool. The original Shipwreck was one of the best chracters in the original Sunbow cartoons, but the figure in his plain sailor suit was boring as hell. So was the Classified version. I think this and the Deming 2-pack versions are huge improvements. >Retro Zarana is basically the original release but with the hair now firmly part of the head sculpt (and it's the comic hair they picked) with only superficial color changes Zarana was a great cartoon and comic book character. However the first Classified version of her was a bit of a pegwarmer because of that stupid face. Unless they improve the face, the retro-card version will also be a pegwarmer.
>>11921450>cut off the shirt around her waistThe shirt is probably removable with the belt in one piece. Now what we need is a pack of spare Zarana abs pieces.
>>11921450what I don’t like about the official release is the lack of arm definition. This ai slop fixes that. Too bad the official figure doesn’t have these type of arms.
>>11921570Zarana was one of the $5 Ollie's specials. Even now you can easily find a ton of them for $15 or less MISB. It's cheap enough to cannibalize for parts for a kitbash Lara.
>>11921450>GIJOEJOOEGod I hate people who can't take the time to do it right with they are going to use AI.>>11921573The arms in this image wouldn't have the range in the image.
>>11921440I'm looking forward to Shipwreck and the Heat Viper, but I think they really fucked up Daina. Incredibly lazy to half ass her and reuse the scrawny Lara parts when they could've done a brand new sculpt and utilized it later for a Sunbow Lady Jaye. And they are still oddly averse to giving us a Dragunov for some reason.
>>11921764>And they are still oddly averse to giving us a Dragunov for some reason.Kinda surprised they haven't snuck the Constrictor wave Maria Belova "SVD" over to the Classified line. There are a few available that are better than what Hasbro would do anyway, so I didn't sweat it.

>>11921832Yawn, give my the Reaction+ lineup for next year.
Ever notice how there’s no black guys in Cobra? Why do you ‘spose that is?
>>11921932I think Adder was the first named black character in Cobra, but i could be wrong. There was also a Cobra 6 pack that had a black Cobra Trooper in 2004 or 2005.And the reason for not black guys in Cobra is mainly because there's very few Cobra characters that show their face and white being the prevalent character color for 100 years of toy making.
>>11921938Apparently there were a few black Cobra minor characters in the first 80’s cartoon
>>11921932Maybe learn the brand before commenting you retard.
>>11921932Because Larry Hama and Hasbro are all about "team diversity versus evil White people." >>11921832>Water Mocassin with female gunner>Arctic Cobra commander>Arctic Baroness>Retro Serpentor>40th anniversary Golobulus with pod>Dreadnok cycle with HeartwrencherAll of that was planned for 2026 as well as a retro-card Firefly, but got kicked back a year because of other crap that they did their usual "fluff up the line to keep it going for as long as possible with" bullcrap
>>11921932Many of the Cobra army builders have alternate black heads.Lt. Clay Moore, Tombstone and Night Adder are all black members of Cobra.Mistress Armada is a member of the Iron Grenadiers. Burnout is a member of the DREADNOKS.
>>11922030We know another MTO is coming in December. The Water Mocassin might end up being that December Made To Order.
>>11922033It would be nice to finally get a boat.
>>11922030Larry Hama wrote a lot of colored folks as bad guys, just not Cobra.Larry Hama couldn't really create his own characters and probably didn't want to for GI Joe (aside from baroness) because he wasn't going to be paid any royalties. So he only used what HAsbro would give him for Cobra, plus whatever south americans, asians, and middle easterns he'd have team up with Cobra, becAuse a variety of settings made GI Joe interesting. Also, HAma was writing GI Joe on the fly, so he wasn't investing a lot of time into it either. HE was just basically playing with HAsbro's toys when writing the books
>>11922033>>11922039It's not a boat. The Mocassin is too simple and Hasbro wouldn't be able to rationalize a $200+ price tag for it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a repaint of an existing HASLAB like the Dragonfly or Rattler, both for which would be easier than shit to sell.
Anyone tried any of those Little Armory weapons? I know they are smaller, but do they still work with Joes? The UK got cucked and I'm still waiting for Lara, but I wanted to get some HK USP match pistols, but basically nobody makes them, my choices are Miliworx which cost a stupid amount to ship and go out of stock every ten seconds or the ones on AliExpress that are again, super overpriced, and I have no idea how they scale. So frustrating.
>>11922092Unfortunately the only LA automatic I have close to hand is the Hi-Power, and I don't currently have any she-Joes.
>>11921932did you fail to notice cobra commanders hood even after all the warning Hasbro gave you?
>>11921440Is that just reuse of the Classified Lara's chest and maybe even arms?
>>11922191Yep, and thanks to that she looks terrible proportion wise. The more images they released, the more I went from being excited about her to passing on her.
>>11922092https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=1%2F12+usp+match&_trksid=p4624852.m4084.l1313>>11922198Eeww, brother. Definitely gonna have to get her into an action pose.
>>11922198Her shoulders and biceps are skinny as a twig and her forearms look abnormally long in comparison. That is a definite pass for sure.
>>11922198I like it and plan on getting two (one for the character and one to kitbash into Desert Lara).
Wave is up everywhere now. It is the new $30 price point. Easy pass till/if they go on sale in a few months.
>>11922226The Prophecy of 29.99 was true. It's over. I'm done with this line.
>>11922226They raised prices in the middle of September. They made some excuses but the simple truth is they've raised prices every single year of the line. >>11922227Higher prices force me to cherry-pick because I can afford less. It's unsustainable to keep pricing customers out of the market.
I only buy to resell so got my orders in. If they release and are easy to find I'll just cancel my order. Only one I wanted this year was Lara for myself and eco warriors to be announced. Neither happened.
>>11922249IMO the psychological shock of $30 is going to drop a lot of people from Classified. Compared to actual inflation we have been hit with an extra 25% on top of the actual 25%. I expect digital shelfwarming.
Fuck man. It was a nice 6 year run. I've already reduce my buying by maybe one or two retail priced fig when it hit $27.99. Rest I've been relying on whatever gets dumped at ROSS and other discount stores. I was looking forward to the 90's joes too. Damn.
A wave I would have bought every figure in is now a wave I'll wait for discounts for, great job Hasbro
Hasbro figures generally run $15 more than they're really worth, but it wasn't uncommon for Classified to have releases that didn't feel like complete fuckery at $25+. R.I.P. army building.
>>11922030braindead retard. you aren't welcome in my hobby
Super7 is making a Joe announcement tomorrow. More than likely it’s the next wave finally going up for sale in the US.
>>11921932>>11921938I hate that she's never used in anything.
Is Cobra-La mostly disliked because of how it changes Cobra Commander's origin? If Cobra-La or a hidden race like it was just a thing that exists in the GI Joe universe would it still be hated because it's too out there?
>>11922773people also hate neon colors and ninjas existing in GI Joe, but these people are a minority, since these thing were actually best sellers.Stuff like Serpentor, Raptor, Cystal Ball, and Cobra La are widely hated though. Like with anything else, there's always going to be a niche group who'll like anything, so a few people will say they're the greatest thing ever and overblow its popularity now that the fandom is mostly gone and the toyline barely selling.Anyway, since most people like a grounded GI Joe, any secret race isn't going to be well liked and it isn't going to attract new fans either.
>>11922752What's this? A black female bad guy? But my narrative!
>>11922481The sad thing is you know this is AI because her elbows look good.
>>11922841Raven is Native American you dumbass. But there have been evil black females like the recent Mistress Armada.
>>11922600Your hobby? Fuck off, poser. >>11922697The shit that's already for sale in India? That was a bit rude of them to do that. >>11922773There's different opinions on it. It shifted the entire GI Joe "universe," and not just CC. In the aftermath Sunbow does Operation Dragonfire to only address as much as they need to in order to resore CC, get rid of Serpentor, and move on from there. Then DIC does a hard reset to pretty much bury everything that happened in the Sunbow years.
>>11922931She's also not a man. The point I was making was that Cobra had dark skinned named characters before Night Adder or Lt Clay Moore or Mistress Armada or Burn Out. One who is sadly very often forgotten and would actually make for a great figure.Though I guess Mara would fit that description as well.
>>11921932Based. This is why my collection is only Cobra.
>>11922773I feel the forced retcon of Cobra Commander's origin and the fact that it was supposed to be the reason Cobra existed and stand as some sort of future replacement are why it was so disliked. It being "out there" isn't a good reason to hate on it because a lot of Joe stuff is "out there", but the fact that it forcibly tried to change so much of the lore and motivations of the core characters and conflict left a bad taste in many mouths. Personally speaking, if it were a stand alone entity that just existed outside of Cobra as an organization, just a looming ever present threat to all humanity, I wouldn't have any issues with it. I like the idea of other organizations existing in the Joe world to act as a threat the Joes have to deal with, having them fight the same bad guys over and over can get a little stale. But make Cobra La it's own thing, add in the Red Shadows and the IRON army and SKAR maybe even bring back the Lunartrix Empire and do more with the concept of Coil by having Serpentor make his own faction and the world of G.I. Joe would have a lot more intrigue in it
>>11921440>>11922198who the heck is "Daina"? G.I.Joes are so much cooler with the code names. even the villains get cool names, even if they are technically not the same type of code names the Joes get. there is zero coolness with a plain name like "Daina" boooooooooI'm going to call her "Tank Top" and pretend she's some kind of tank mechanic/driver. (I don't know what kind of comic or story she was from lol)
>>11923063Hasbro didn't. Ancillary characters in the cartoon were created by Sunbow. Hasbro didn't have its first dark-skinned Cobra until the 00s.
>>11923073She's "Dana," but with a more Eastern European spelling.
>>11923073She's not a GI Joe. She's from the russian equivalent. The Oktober Guard.
>>11923111I'm surprised they didn't use her comics codename.
>>11923116I just googled it, Vorona means Crow in Russianso they could have put either "Vorona" or "Crow"putting "Daina "Vorona" Janack" on the box would have been so much better. do they have meetings for this type of thing? who decided just "Daina" was the thing to do?>>11923111I guess "Vorona" sounds cool, but honestly it's kinda lame since she doesn't match that code name. wouldn't you think somebody called Crow would have black hair? or a black uniform, at least? was it a running gag that all the Russian Ocktober Guard people had [dumb] names?
>>11923116Her original toy file card had her codename as Volga and she was a helicopter pilot/sniper there, not airborne assault. Also her cartoon appearance was a brown girl in a pink jump suit. No consistency for her between media at all.
>>11922697Turns out it was just to formally announce the second wave of Ninja Force that’s been in stores for a month now
>>11923073It kills me that's how they did the elbows when single hinge joints on an arm that slender could've worked just as well but looked a million times better. >>11923086Who mentioned Hasbro? The comment was about Cobra, which she is a member of from the animated continuity. Stop trying to be pedantic.
>>11923132>putting "Daina "Vorona" Janack" on the box would have been so much betterThey still may. Remember Iceberg with the wrong-colored vest, and they changed it within a couple of weeks of people complaining?
So am I just shit out of luck on this pack, now? I totally forgot about it and now it seems to be out of stock everywhere.
>>11923226got mine for 109 after shipping from CHINA
>>11922481shipwreck is awesome tho
>>11923211>It kills me that's how they did the elbows when single hinge joints on an arm that slender could've worked just as well but looked a million times better. It doesn't look good in museum poses, but I'm gonna want that double elbow for aiming poses.>>11923286Would have preferred the green one from wave 2, but that they picked a DG variant from 13 years ago of all things is probably a small miracle.
I wonder what the next army builder will be after HEAT Viper? We’ve gotten no leaks about that.
>>11923116Was she called that in ARAH? I only remember her being called Daina by everybody
>>11923327COOL Viper.
>>11923132Wasn't she Czech or Ukrainian and that was why she later became a Joe.?
>>11923365Czech.
>>11923073I thought I was done but realized bomb strike still needs to be made.
>>11923069>I like the idea of other organizations existing in the Joe world to act as a threat the Joes have to deal with, having them fight the same bad guys over and over can get a little staleRead the comics, dude.Even the original Marvel comics had GI Joe getting into Cold War shit with various european countries, middleeast, and south american problems that didn't involve or directly involve Cobra.
>>11923327I hope its Rock Viper.
>>11923375Been showing up at Walmart.
>>11923393>>11923396Be funny if they did this Rock Viper instead.
>>11923179Weak>>11923132Vorona was her name when she joined GI Joe. She was called Daina in the comic and cartoon.
>>11923497They did the awful crimson Alley Viper, so this would track, kek.
>>11923586New interview with Brian Flynn from Super7. He states that the countdown was for showing off the new wave. But for some reason only Ninja Force was shown. I haven’t even watched the whole interview yet, because of how long it is, but he says it at the very beginning. There’s an hour of discussion and mention of a new vehicle.https://youtu.be/uaZyTVdLjrg
>>11923226I don't know how much you want it, but some of our places in the UK still have stock. Comics and Cocktails for instance, pretty sure they ship overseas, no idea how pricey.
>>11923719They're fucking us around. We know about Flint, Baroness, Shipwreck, and Jinx. They just won't say when people outside of India can expect them.
>>11923226It was at one of my Targets at least within the last month, probably closer to Labor Day. The retro cards were everywhere but this was only at one store. But I haven't been hitting Target of late because I haven't needed anything in hand. I would get that store code they use for the figure and ask any employees to see if there is one in your area. Apparently, you cannot order it:https://www.target.com/p/g-i-joe-classified-series-212-ninja-force-scarlett-and-t-39-jbang/-/A-94977260
>>11922600Mainframe #178 is flooding Ross, for between $12.99/13.99 or $19.99.
>>11923959Didn't see Mainframe, but the elusive Slice & Dice pack finally materialized. Not a fan at all with how they handled my boy Slice, but for $20 I can try and fix it.
Local comic shop got in Wild Bill. Decent figure all things said but I do wish they'd have given him a new head with the hair/hair piece part of the sculpt to make him different from the Haslab version
>>11924147He's one I've been on the lookout for. Miissed him at Wal-Mart, unfortunately.
>>11924147
>>11924150
>>11924152Technically Wild Bill is more Hank Williams Jr than Chuck Norris, as the guy is more southern than Mr confederate the flag Cross Country
>>11924154Everyone always ignores the fact that Heavy Metal wore an actual confederate army belt buckle, and was named after a nazi. Here's an updated painted prototype of the Ramen Toy version of him.
>>11924024Mainframe has been at every store I have been to for the past two weeks, in Black Series quantities. One Ross today had the 60th Halo for $12.99 so I took it because the others I had seen two weeks ago were $17.99.My Target in east Hollywood had the #196 Rottclaw & Dino for $25+, but that was probably a 'that store only' price.
>>11924152the head is Kurt Russell from tombstone
>>11924238Need to stain that lower face.>>11924247Saw someone on Instagram get Rottclaw for $15 at their Target, so stores out there are getting serious about getting rid of them.
So my Lara Croft was missing her little string that connects the two pieces of climbing gear together. I just made my own out of some thread I already had and was fine, but it kind of bothered me that such a rare, and pricey figure was missing one of it's accessories so I called and complained to Hasbro. I didn't even really want anything in return, since it wasn't such a big deal, just that it was a bit irksome that this $42 figure was missing something, even if it was easily replaceable. I wasn't even mad on the phone with the lady, I just gave her the info from the package she asked for and she said they'd send me something of equal or lesser value. I told her it wasn't necessary, I just wanted to inform them of the issue, but they sent me something anyway. They ended up sending me the Cobra Claw. I was kind of shocked, is it any good? Not sure if I wanna keep it or not yet.
>>11924487>Cobra ClawHasn't that been sold out for a while, why would they send you that ?
>>11924491I couldn't tell ya. All I know is it retailed more than Lara so I feel like I definitely didn't get jipped. Hasbro is so fucking inconsistent with this shit. Sometimes I will get what is essentially a figure that is of equal value, other times I'll get something like this or a long sold out store exclusive that was difficult to find in the first place, and other times they've sent me a literal $10 kids toy. I feel like they just pick from a bin at random and if you get lucky, you get lucky.
>>11924496You could always sell it and preorder an additional two Laras
>>11924501Meh, I just used my own string, it was hardly a big deal, I even told them not to send me anything, just wanted to report the lot number and because the figure was more expensive than usual. If it was just a normal release, I wouldn't have even bothered. I may just sell it, we'll see. Seems to be going for a good amount on ebay.
>>11922773>s Cobra-La mostly disliked because of how it changes Cobra Commander's origin?Cobra Commander has never had the same origin across all iterations of GI Joe. The cartoon version had no origin prior to the movie, while the comic version's origin was fed to the readers in pieces and we didn't have the whole story until a year or two afterwards. In terms of things that were "out there" in the cartoon, Cobra-La isn't even near the top of the list when there's actual supernatural beings in there.>>11922838>Stuff like Serpentor, Raptor, Cystal Ball, and Cobra La are widely hated though.Serpentor is divisive but you're as likely to find someone who loves him as hates him. Raptor was only in the comics and his bird suit was treated like a joke, nobody really hated him that much when Hama was going out of his way to play Raptor for laughs, while Crystal Ball didn't really appear in anything enough for normal well-adjusted fans to hate him. At worst he'd just be a toy they didn't want.>Anyway, since most people like a grounded GI JoeThat's the comic-only fandom, the type of people who would have never liked the cartoon at all.
>>11924152>I hate anyone that looks anywhere close to NorrisAww poor thing. Show me on the doll where the evil Norrie roundhouse-kicked you >>11924238So did Cross-Country. I don't give a shit. >>11924448Rottclaw's head is too cartoony as if it came from a different series. The rest of him is cool thugh. >>11924487You're not the first person I've heard complain about the missing string.
>>11924487Here's one on Ebay that also appears to be missing the string.
>>11924571The string is supposed to be under the backpack. I guess it's hit or miss if it's actually in there or not. Regardless, it's not a big deal, I just made my own and it's fine. Plus I got a free $55 toy.
>>11924572That's crappy QC work. I guess Yang and Chang over at Hasbro's factory wouldn't notice or wouldn't care.
>>11924564Cartoon CC didn't contradict the Hana origin But besides Cobra La completely fucking up lore or any semblance of cohesiveness for CC and literally turning him into a literal monster, there is the fact that Hasbro straight up squashed a perfectly reasonable alternative origin for CC that was supposed to be revealed in season two and that Serpentor was EXPLICITLY created to cock block Cobra La from happening but Hasbro forced it anyway
So these are popping up at Ross as well. What's a fair price to sell just the Missile System? The 10 pieces on the left, new, in the clamshell as I assume most people wouldn't care about the box without Hawk and his gear?)Listings at the moment have it for $28 actually pre-owned to $35-45 harvested from the box? I was thinking $30 to $35 plus actual calculated shipping?
>>11922838Why did you feel the need to make a post full of lies? Literally everything you said is as wrong as possible except people disliking Cobra-La. >>11924448In my many decades of collecting, I've never had a local Target drop the price of figures that low, let alone decent figures worth army building. Hell they had the Desert Scorpion figure clogging the shelves for years by me and at best they dropped him down like $5 bucks. I'm jealous of all the people that find cheap figures at their Targets, and even more so who can find em for pennies at places like Ross and TJ Maxx because the ones by me *never* have anything cool to begin with. >>11924567Cross Country didn't just have the belt buckle, his V2 had the damn flag plastered across his back. his faded jeans effect was pretty cool though. >>11924502Why not just keep it, it's a cool free toy.
>>11924864It varies by Target. The ones near one of my major universities drops prices all the time. But most closer and more convenient to me don't so I do feel your pain. I had to wait almost a year for one Target exclusive 4pack to come down in price to make it worth while to buy two to army build just one of the four, especially when the other 3 are useless. But they should have dropped retro carded Joes and Legends to about $12/$13 during the recent reset unless they simply had no stock. One of my stores never has any Classified or Legends and barely any of the non-100% hard plastic TFs. I'm sure Hasbro is not happy.
>>11924807$25 + shipping is the best you gonna get right now. There are stacks of these at most ROSS store and the resellrs are going to flood the markets with them. The slice and Dice went from 80 to just 45 now since ROSS has been also getting lots of them.
>>11924564>you're as likely to find someone who loves him as hates him.Not in the 80s, 90s, and 00s. He was very much hated, if not mocked for being and sounding like a giant autistic douchebag. He was incredibly one note, so he didn;t really have any good characteristics (but then, so were most cartoon characters back in the day. GI Joe was the epitome of the 80s cartoonl; shlock and full of politically correct messaging brought to you by parent groups (DEI of yesteryear))Even kids who bought the toy, because it had cool designs and gimmicks, made him a pariah in their collection. One of the first figures to get shot with a BB gun.I honestly didn't know anyone who liked Serpentor until the 00s, when normies started shitting up the internet, and i've been in chats and message board since 1995.>At worst he'd just be a toy they didn't want.that's basically how you gauged hate bAck in the day. So him and Raptor were big shelf warmers, which you could find on the shelves years later. They were untouchables, Crystal Ball more so.>That's the comic-only fandom, the type of people who would have never liked the cartoon at all.Nah, there were a ton of kids who were too mature for cartoons and comics who used them as what they are: poseable army men. There were quite a few people knew nothing about GI Joe, yet had more than a few GI Joes because they liked army men. So it goes without saying, the more outlandish designs weren't well liked. It's very common get into the cartoon or comic AFTER buying into the toyline.
>>11924718The people working on the cartoons generally weren't reading the comics, and Hama wasn't watching the cartoon, there's no reason to expect the cartoon to use the comic origin for Cobra Commander, especially considering the Sunbow cartoon had ended prior to the comics giving us the full details on that version of the origin.>there is the fact that Hasbro straight up squashed a perfectly reasonable alternative origin for CC that was supposed to be revealed in season twoI presume you mean the pitched episode about Cobra having imprisoned a guy Cobra Commander stole his ideology from. Habsro probably blocked that one because it required Cobra to have a coherent political ideology, which the cartoon was really avoiding.>and that Serpentor was EXPLICITLY created to cock block Cobra La from happening but Hasbro forced it anywayNo, Hasbro came up with Serpentor as a new leader toy and asked the Sunbow writers to pitch ideas for an origin. They liked both ideas that were pitched and wanted to do both, one idea got used as Serpentor's actual origin, the other idea, that there was a secret power behind the throne who Cobra Commander was working for, that idea got developed into Golobulus. The Sunbow writers don't seem to have been trying to block Cobra-La from happening, they just didn't want it to be called Cobra-La, it was meant to be a placeholder name until they could come up with something they liked, but Hasbro loved it and insisted on keeping it.>>11924919>when you realize you were talking to that guy who ruins every thread with his solipsistic insistence everyone else shares his own likes and dislikesYou do you, anon. You're never going to change.
>>11924985>everyone else shares his own likes and dislikessays the zoomer who doesn't know what life was like before 1999And don't pretend you know what the 90s was like because you were born in 1995, because your memories are shit before you're 4 and you don't know anything socially until you're like 10.Everything you sayjust sounds like you're repeating something else someone else said, with no first hand knowledge of what kids thought of these toys. So what you say is from the perspective of the few fans that are still active today (possibly some creator who needs to be positive about everything to keep his job), which is to say, not many hardcore fans are around anymore.IF you're older than this, where'd you avoid all the disdain and mockery those characters got in the 90s and 00s? I mean, shit, how'd did you not miss Crystal Ball and Raptor being giant shelf warmers that could be found into the 90s at KB Toy stores? You definitely weren't on /toy/ when the line was actually popular, because we talked about all this shit back then. Also, i like how you're kinda ignoring the fact that Serpentor gets killed off pretty fast because of how hated he was. Sure, it's kiddy safe mode of throwing him out a window on an exploding flying thing in the movie, but the next cartoon makes sure to get rid of the unpopular character. So two studios were told to get rid of him.
>>11925007>Also, i like how you're kinda ignoring the fact that Serpentor gets killed off pretty fast because of how hated he was. It's not only that. When Sunbow hands over the cartoon over to DIC, they do a hard re-set to wash away everything that happened in the Sunbow cartoons. The Crimson twins never existed. No dreadnoks exist except Gnawgahyde, Zarana, and Road Pig. Baroness and Destro's relationship is a loose association. Cobra Commander is on the front line of every operation instead of at Cobra HQ delegating jobs to top Cobra officials. There's never any more than 5 Joes on standby for action at any given time. It was all part of the effort to wash out Gen-X kids who were in high school at that point, and attract millenial kids.
>>11924985>The Sunbow writers don't seem to have been trying to block Cobra-La from happening, they just didn't want it to be called Cobra-La, it was meant to be a placeholder name until they could come up with something they liked, but Hasbro loved it and insisted on keeping it.The Sunbow writers also wanted to deliver tits. Hasbro didn't let that happen.
>>11924864>In my many decades of collecting, I've never had a local Target drop the price of figures that low, let alone decent figures worth army building. Hell they had the Desert Scorpion figure clogging the shelves for years by me and at best they dropped him down like $5 bucks. I'm jealous of all the people that find cheap figures at their Targets, and even more so who can find em for pennies at places like Ross and TJ Maxx because the ones by me *never* have anything cool to begin with.Largely in the same boat. My Target doesn't even get their own exclusives regularly.>Cross Country didn't just have the belt buckle, his V2 had the damn flag plastered across his back. his faded jeans effect was pretty cool though.Top 5 Joe from that year, kek. They'll never get away with anything even remotely close to him ever again.
My gut's still telling me that Zarana's head got retooled because it makes zero sense to reissue the exact same figure that didn't sell well in the first place with fewer accessories and repainted trim.
>>11925069Eh, I wouldn't be surprised if we see most, if not all, of the 'Noks get re-released, especially closer to the Thunder Machine shipping. Could also just be Hasbro stepping on the rake, as they are wont to do.
>>11925090But they couldn't sell Zarana for $22, and it became a $5 Ollie's special. They sure as shit won't be able to sell the same figure in a different package for $30. Personally I expect new Dreadnoks such as Thrasher and Heartwrencher as we get close to the Thunder Machine release.
>>11925069>makes zero sense to reissue the exact same figure that didn't sell well in the first place with fewer accessories and repainted trimThat has been the case for numerous retro releases, why would it surprise you now?
>>11925092I don't disagree, hence the rake comment. I think the whole wave is pretty weak, and will likely be an even harder sell at $30 than they would be at $22.
>>11925101They've retooled figures for the retro-card treatment before. Cover Girl is a good example with getting an entirely new head on top of the repaint. Baroness also got a few tweaks with the retro-card release.
>>119250902027 is hoping up to be the year of the DREADNOKS.>Flatline>retro Zarana >Sonic fighter Road Pig>Dreadnok cycle with Heartwrencher>zanzibar>ThrasherAnd then the release of MTO Thunder Machine
>>11925150I wouldn't be surprised of the swamp skier gets reissued with one of them so we can have a second crack at it with a different character.
>>11925019they didn't reset it, they just didn't mention it again, becAuse they're selling you a toyline and want to focus on whatever the current thing they're selling. So Serpentor was purposely rebrought up, to make a fool out of him, gleefully torturing him before making him go away forever, because they wanted to satisfy all the kids who hated Serpentor that much.In the comics, he was killed off, with an arrow through the eye.So THREE media sources killed him off, when they could have just written him out or ignored him, because Serpentor was that unpopular with kids. So he was only around a year before everyone got sick of him.The Tamox and Xomat were going to become bigger characters later, if the cartoon hadn't been cAnceled, so they could have been written back in. They also kept popping in in the comics.Hasbro DID hard reset GI Joe though, hence canceling the toyline, restarting it as EXTREME and SGT Savage. No one was brought over, thus getting canceled pretty fast, because millenials still wanted the ARAH Joes. The GI Joe Vs Cobra movies in the 00s was a soft reboot, with characters being a mix between the cartoon and comics. This was likely because Hama was involved.
>>11925143Yeah plenty of figures got entirely new molds, but just as many are flat out repaints. And Baroness got no sculpt tweaks, they just left her glasses un-glued and threw in a couple extra guns. If they tweaked Zarana's head sculpt, you really think they wouldn't go further and change the expression or hair? Or draw attention to that fact at all? They didn't change anything, it's clear as day
>>11925152Zanzibar?
>>11924879$25 is fine. I wasn't thinking I would be rich. I just don't want those 10 things and would rather price them fairly since I likely will post it first at B/S/T for those folks that aren't getting deals at their Targets or Wally's, or don't have a nearby clearance outlet store that has Classifieds.
>>11925317Three media sources>comics>cartoon>??????What’s the third?
>>11925380the cartoon movie.if you're trying to be autistic about it, do note that i said "three media sources" and not "three different media sources"They really wanted kids to notice that a hated character was gone.
>>11925426The movie didn't kill him off. >>11925317>they didn't reset itYes they did. Cobra Commander is human as you can see in the eyes and skin, and that's in spite of the movie saying he was never human but Cobra-La, and got turned into a serpent-man in Dragonfire. >They also kept popping in in the comics.Hama-verse isn't cartoon-verse.
>>11925019I feel like these posts were made just to bait replies. The Shout Factory DVD extras as well as all the released DiC production notes of the series makes a clear picture what happen: no one was clearly communicating with each other and Hasbro wanted toys pushed so DiC tried to push whatever toys were going to happen. Issue was Hasbro was a schizophrenic mess. They are informed a new Lady Jay is getting made so they make sure she shows up in the DiC series early on, toy never happens but they are told Scarlet is getting a new toy so they switch Lady Jay out of the script for Scarlet and the Jinx figure never happen so they just took the episode that was suppose to have Jinx and have Scarlet just go on an adventured with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow while they break everything. Gnawgahyde was suppose to be in the second season of DiC but Hasbro wanted Road Pig plugged in so with zero fights DiC just swapped the two and it's why Road Pig always had animals around and made a zoo in that one episode because it was written to be Gnawgahyde the whole time. The DiC series was Hasbro getting exactly what they wanted: a show run that would just make whatever they asked with no questions or push back. That came at the price of making one of the worse cartoons under their supervision. >>11925650Not only did they didn't kill him off they out right said the change they did to him was temporary because Hasbro wanted him written out but in arms reach to bring back if they needed too.
>>11925722Hasbro considered giving the females figures post-1989?News to me.
>>11925783Tiger Force and Python Patrol concepts. All the rawhides and marauders had future concepts as well that never happen. Also that was the "schizophrenic mess" I was talking about because at first they thought the girl figures were so well liked that they wanted to introduce a black female Joe somewhere in the 88~90 release windows to go along with the now unmade Jinx, then just scrap all plans because it's "poor business" to try and sell girl figures.
>>11925650>>11925722>not understanding how 80s cartoons wereSeriously, you zoomers are all autistic. They're not allowed to literally kill anyone off. Might as well say that Pythona and Nemesis Enforcer weren't killed off either, just because they were only shown to be thrown down an never ending black chasm alive, instead of being killed on screen.Again, Serpentor was so unpopular that they started to plan to get rid of him almost as soon as he came out. He was around less than a year before they needed to start planning to kill him off.Again, they killed him off in three media sources. In the comic, they were allowed to be explicit in his death. In the edited-to-be-made-safer-than-the-TF-movie movie, his death is off screen. In the TV show, he's turned into a lizard. they need to reverse the cartoon's own logic and say its temporary, yet for vehicles it's not? well, because it's shitty kid friendly cartoon made to enforce proto-DEI parent group rules.Unlike Duke, there were never any plans to bring Serpentor back. Everyone else who was in the Sunbow cartoon could have come back in the DIC show, if they made toys of them again. Mindbinder was in the plans, despite being killed off in the comics or showing up in the DIC cartoon. You know who was never in the plans? Serpentor, becAuse he was unpopular, hence being killed off a year after he was introduced. You have to be pretty hated to be killed off that quickly.also >Cobra Commander is human as you can see in the eyes and skin, and that's in spite of the movie saying he was never human but Cobra-LaThat'd be considered a retcon, not a "reset." resets are where you go back to square one, whereas a retcon is a continuation of the story but needs to modify some some story elements.
>>11925810I knew about the canceled 1989 black female figure. Also about canceled 1988 Pythona.I didn’t know about a new Lady Jaye or a new Jinx or a new Scarlett until Ninja Force.

Thoughts on Maverick now being female in the Energon Universe?
>>11925911>They're not allowed to literally kill anyone off. They had an episode where the Joes encounter their own dead bodies, and they had a DIC episode where the drug lord Headman gets killed. >>11926143Why did they give her a retard face? Damn.

>>11926294They're all great except for the Baroness face. Way to crap up an otherwise great figure.
>>11926349Are you saying I should eat my gijoes?
>>11926349Are you sure the food at McDonalds isn't full of plastic? Because I'm pretty sure it's full of microplastics, the very same types of plastic that make up your toys. So yes, we are eating our toys in a round about way.
>>11922092Topfunretrotoys3d.com just put up a USP Match.
>>11926468>it's full of microplasticsSo is pretty much everything at this point
>>11926249You have no context at all for anything you say. Why do you think I know that you're some shitty zoomer?By the time that very special DEI episode of G Joe came out, cartoons had gotten away from parent group proto-DEI death grip. So censorship had relaxed a bit and shit like Batman:TAS was blowing everyone's minds away with cartoons shows now being able to be good, but Ducktales was actually the first to show that quality mattered in 1989 and needed to move away from that parent group propaganda. Since DIC's GI Joe show was still under old parent group management (so it was still shit) and hving the headsman die was because SAY NO TO DRUGS messaging needing higher consequences.>dead bodiesLOL, you mean fucking skeletons? Skeletons can be shown as much as you want, and you can even dismember them in any manner without a parent group member batting an eye.But i like how you think showing off your zoomer konwledge to disagree with history means that Serpentor totally wasn't hated and was not killed off a y ear after being introduced because everyone got sick of him
>>11926468At this point, you're more full of microplastics than anything at Mcdonalds.
Anyone have the Desert Scorpion? It looks like a great set, the actual figure looks nice and the scorpion looks incredible.
>>11926653Yeah. Guy is great. Scorpion is the star though. I wanted to buy 2 more sets but decided against it. He's always clearanced out so I may still for my gladiator theme.
>>11926653You probably won't regret picking one up. I was in a Walmart last month that had them on clearance all the way down to $40, kek. Definitely wanna go Target or Amazon for him at the moment.
>>11925007>IF you're older than this, where'd you avoid all the disdain and mockery those characters got in the 90s and 00s?Probably by just managing to not interact with you until here. Crystal Ball's the only one where it wasn't obviously just a few weirdos with an autistic hateboner for a character, and even then the character was so unimportant that the hate seemed pointless and overblown.>Also, i like how you're kinda ignoring the fact that Serpentor gets killed off pretty fast because of how hated he was. Sure, it's kiddy safe mode of throwing him out a window on an exploding flying thing in the movie, but the next cartoon makes sure to get rid of the unpopular character. So two studios were told to get rid of him.Pay attention to the end of the movie and you'll see Serpentor's Air Chariot is still flying around out of control in the background as the Joes are fleeing Cobra-La. Saying you think he's killed at the end of the movie is basically like assuming Destro, the Baroness, Mindbender, the Crimson Twins and the Dreadnoks were all killed as well. At the most they're all just ambiguously caught in an explosion. The DIC cartoon started with an attempt to maintain continuity with the Sunbow series, so a number of characters whose toys were no longer on sale appear in the first DIC miniseries just for continuity reasons, and for them to do a Cobra leadership transition back to Cobra Commander, to match the toy line. As others have pointed out, both the DIC cartoon makes it clear Serpentor's transformation into a lizard was only temporary, while the comics immediately set up the idea that Mindbender might be able to eventually resurrect him, and we know from Hama's own statements that he just didn't like Serpentor or most of the other outlandish characters Hasbro forced on him, and wrote him out as soon as Hasbro would let him when the toy was no longer on sale.
>>11925317I love how you break from your own constant insistence that late 80s and 90s GI Joe and the DIC cartoon were aimed at an entirely new audience of millenials with awful taste instead of cool based gen X kids because you just hate Serpentor so damn much and think everyone hated him as much as your autistic ass did.>>11925317You should take into account how the 1987 movie would have been so far into production by the time season 2 of the cartoon was broadcast that there would have been no way for Hasbro or Sunbow to take audience feedback from kids on what characters they liked and disliked and to write the movie accordingly, just as every episode of season 2 was already written and either completed or in some stage of production before the first episode had been broadcast.>>11925650>Yes they did. Cobra Commander is human as you can see in the eyes and skinTo be fair, GI Joe is a cartoon where the Baroness can disguise herself as a black woman or as a man, pull off the mask and her entire body changes back to normal. It's no great leap of logic to just handwave any time Cobra Commander looks human as him just wearing one of those masks under his hood or helmet.
>>11926773Holy fuck, i really can't believe you're still avoiding the fact that three media sources got rid of Serpentor AND the fact that Hasbro never bothered to even plan another Serpentor figure until 20 years later just to please nostalgiafags for a shitty comic. The character was around a SINGLE year before every media source got rid of him and the only reason anyone would do that would because he was that unpopular.Unpopular characters get taken out and Serpentor's deaths (PLURAL FORM HERE) were under Hasbro's direction. And your mental gymnastics that the media didn't get rid of him is as bad as 80s cartoons mental gymnastics in avoiding to show characters dying. A whole lot of retard logic, but at least the 80s cartoon writers have an excuse of being low-pay, so writers were lazy as fuck and/or bottom of the barrel talent. And just so you know, I never hated Serpentor. I'm just remembering what everyone in the 80s, 90s, and 00s thought, and I'm not completely obviously to what writers are doing when they strap a character to an exploding flying vehicle going 100mph out of a building, shooting the character in the eye, and turning him into a lizard never to appear again. You know who didn't get taken out? Zartan. Baroness. The Twins. They just sorta disappeared or became background characters running away from vague explosions. Mindbender did get taken out, in the comic, but Hasbro brought him back before the series ended. Hasbro had plans for all these characters still, because they weren't hated but actually popular.
>>11926774>I love how you break from your own constant insistence that late 80s and 90s GI Joe and the DIC cartoon were aimed at an entirely new audience of millenials with awful taste instead of cool based gen X kidsare you confusing something i said with another poster's post? I'm not sure what you're referring to, unless this is just some shitty logic and illiteracy based on an inane assumption you have about me.>You should take into account ... Brah, your realize that GI Joe the Movie was edited and rewritten due to feedback from children's reactions to the 1986 Transformers movie, right? That movie came out 1 month after Serpntor's comic apperance and 1 month before his cartoon appearance. So if Hasbro was able to get feedback from the TF movie to make changes to the GI Joe movie in that time, they can sure as fuck get kids impressions from the GI Joe comic, cartoon, and even toy sales in that time to know how unpopular Serpentor was.52 episodes takes years to produce, yep, but only because they want to release those episodes one after another every week/day. A single episode doesn't take an entire year to animate, it actually takes around a month, so a movie quarity scene takes even less time to animate, and the dog shit writing probably took 5 minutes.holy fuck, all this just because you have a boner for a character that was so hated they wanted to get rid of him just months after his first appearances
>>11926782>three media sources got rid of SerpentorTwo did. The movie dropped him but didn't get rid of him. That's why he was still around for Operatin Dragonfire. >You know who didn't get taken out? Zartan. Baroness. The Twins. They just sorta disappeared or became background characters running away from vague explosions.DIC kept Baroness (and Zarana, Scarlett, and Lady Jaye) since Hasbro turned full faggot and refused to release new female figures after 1987, so they didn't want the cartoon to be a total sausage-fest. My guess is they deliberately showed them in their classical style but recolored in hopes of nudging Hasbro to reissue them as repaints like Hasbro was already doing at that point (Tiger force, Python Patrol, Sky patrol, Slaughter's marauders, etc). However Zartan and the Crimson twins were erased completely from the cartoons.
>>11926931>Ras Al Ghul didn't die in Batman Beginsok retardYou've made it clear that everything you're saying is just to be a contrarian, to keep arguing long after being proven wrong that Serpentor was one of the most hated characters in GI Joe, which is why they needed to get rid of him one year after beinjg introduced.
Just a heads-up, the Sgt. Slaughter/Mercer pack is showing up at Ross.

>>11927302Yeah, it may just be a case of waiting for them to show up. My Ross just got the second (third?) wave of Slice & Dice, so I suspect this one will also take a while to filter in locally.

>>11927743>>11927745>>11927767It looks great for an o-ring figure, but it looks like a total ripoff for a $25 figure. Super7's prices were outrageous long before hasbro started hiking up theirs.
Every time I open one of these Acid Rain figures makes me wonder why I keep buying Hasbro and Valaverse. The Joe characters are cool, but the design on these is fantastic.

>>11927624>Of course he was hated,i like how you now treat this like common knowledge, but only after i browbeat you for days.>if he was killed off in the movie then he wouldn't have been around for disposal in operation dragonfire. Different series. different studios, who all had different ways of telling a story.I think Hasbro wanted to make it clear that he was gone. I mean, there's adults in this thread who think the DIC cartoon was a reset and that GI Joes are immortals thanks to the GI Joe cartoon being as silly as a Willie Coyote cartoon where humans will be okay after flying out a window of tal building in an aircraft thats exploding at 100mph.... hence needing to be killed off in three different media sources.>>11927825you can enjoy multiple lines and styles at once. >>11927882>You're assuming crap because you're a smug prick who apparently believes that the Internet is something you must "win" by crapping on other peopleI'm not sorry for assuming you're a retard because you think a human will be fine flying out a window from a tall building at 100mph while the out of control aircraft he's strapped onto is also exploding. It's very hard not to feel superior to someone who doesn't understand the intent of that scene and has no historical context of how shitty 80s cartoons were and also how these elements were used to kill off characters without actually showing them being killed.IF you didn't get the reference that i made in my earlier post, Batman Begins does the same shit. They have the villain on an out of control vehicle going really fast, high up in the air, and they never show what happens to him after the vehicle crashed. Any normal person knows that he died.>>11927899I think Serpentor was underused in the comic, because they didn't show off how he could play politics better than everyone. He was never charming enough to actually make an cult following like Devils Due tried to do and the cartoon version was just an autistic douchebag. So if kids didn't like him, why would any adult willingly follow him, muchless develop a cult?Cobra Commander had a hundred times more successes than Serpentor did in the comics, so he didn't even seem that smart either. In the cartoon, he was also as much of a failure as CC was and they only showed him winning in the movie.Hama was the only one who understood the character, but because he hated Serpentor, he only gave him that one part at the very beginning as the only likeable moment of his character.
>>11927927>I'm not sorry for assuming you're a retard because you think a human will be fine flying out a window from a tall building at 100mph while the out of control aircraft he's strapped onto is also exploding.Yet that's exactly the case. Thats why he was still around for Dragonfire. >>11928128See there you go. You keep digging in because you always have to "win" a pointless argument. No one ever said Serpentor was a super-popular coolest bestest character. You only imagine that so you can pick a pointless argument because you're a fucking psycho.
>>>11928136 wah wah wahyou're proving my point that you're a retard who just wants to endlessly argue despite being proven wrong time after time. You can't acknowledge anything, instead choosing to ignore how wrong you were and make up a new strawman or argue about something else If you're not any of those zoomers who were pretending to totally know how serpentor was(n't) liked before they were born, then why are you taking up their ignorant arguments?
>>11928146You never proved anyone wrong, and you're the one arguing over nothing because you're a fucking psycho.
Those who didn't get her last year for $120 are fucked now. Now that Hasbro is reissuing the Rattler Gunner as the DIRE Hawk, maybe she'll get a near-future reissue too.
Cold Slither has shown up at Ross for $79.99.
Jeez these are really showing up in bundles everywhere. I was near the inner city Ross locations and did grab three of the retro carded (alternative heads) trooper at one store ($9.99) but one store has these and the other had at least one. The mainframe seems to be selling since I only found maybe 4 boxes total between 3 stores.
The Snake Armor is a popular army builder.
Ordered Nemesis Immortal from Pulse at friend's suggestion. It's funny, my main GI Joe media exposure is the comic (I do wanna watch the cartoon though, looks a lot of fun) but the Cobra-La Classified figures are so damn good that I want them all even if their canonical introduction was not the best. Hopefully I can get Pythona too, she looks great.Personally I'm headcanoning Cobra-La as a shell organization started by Cobra to research biotech that grew into its own faction, ostensibly allied with Cobra but with their own agenda. I like the idea that the biotech they modified themselves with has made them delusional, and they've become convinced they're the scions of an ancient ubermensch (who doesn't actually exist); Golobulus himself is of course the most heavily "upgraded" and most utterly insane, determined to become God through the power of genetic engineering.
>>11928698Venom Vs Valor storyline is exactly the thing that you're headcanoning.I think it's kinda shit, because once you start bioteching everything, there's no reason to stop. Cartoon logic always has it as going out of control, but there's no reason they couldn't get it under control eventually. It's like not developing airplanes just because the first 1000 flight machines didn't work and injured thousands of people and killed hundreds. and the next 10,000 flight machines barely worked and killed thousands.Personally, I'm a big fan of Nemesis Enforcer and Pythona, but i'm indifferent about using or even displaying them. They work as horror monsters best, which i like the ideas for (I'm a fan of horror books), but my collection for that stuff is next to zero, so i have no place for them
>>11928698>>11928714The issue has always been that the more GIJoe leans into plots that are broader than a cops and robbers type the more they look like other media and in turn make it less interesting. Kids wanted bright colorful soldiers fighting each other, adults want military themes with a future tech leaning. Once you start messing with that formula you make something they can get else where and many times better. The story lines of VvV and the Anons OC are just sentai/power ranger plots which then makes people want something different be it a more mature plot of those sentai or just some new OC but to take established ideas and twist them around like that and neither the majority of kids nor adults would see the appeal of such a mash up of concepts because one theme overwhelms the other.
>>11928430They are 49.99 in OR and glutting Ross stores bad. Not completely surprised, the whole idea was stupid as fuck.
Alright Americans, I need an explanation, why the fuck do so many of you call Lara "Laura" Croft? Is it some form of mass mental retardation or is pronouncing Lara somehow physically difficult for you like Japanese people pronouncing 'l'? Almost every American toy reviewer calls her Laura, even when they are holding a package that has her name Lara written in big golden letters infront of their faces. I don't understand such mass incompetence.
Someone took apart a Snake Armor. It has an O-ring construction inside.
>>11928875I've never called her that. It's always been "Lara Croft" to me.
>>11928822I liked it. Tossing in some of the cartoon stuff keeps the line fun. It's just that after the initial wave sold out on Pulse, Hasbro's response was to re-order more than what they could realistically sell. >>11928953The "rock back" really plays on the first cartoon mini-series. It'll go well with glow-in-the-dark Snake Eyes.
>>11928970>>11928822I've been to half a dozen stores in Southern California and yet to see one. I'm sure they will make it here but some stuff doesn't get spread that out. I rarely see Legends 2packs at Ross for example.
>>11928875Wait, aren't they both the same name? Why wouldn't they be pronounced the same. How the fuck can England misspronounce it AND missspell it.
>>11928952It's literally an o-ring figure, lol
>>11929075Ah so mental retardation then. No, it's not the same name you donkey one is Lara and one is Laura. Are Susan and Sarah the same name? It being spelt differently is a subtle giveaway that you pronounce it differently as well, a complex concept I know, but you can get there. Man, if only you could hear it pronounced in every one of the dozens of games and movies made about her, that would've really made it easy for you.>>11928965You're an exception it seems.
Comparisons of the new Flint from Hisstank.
Both Flint and Lady Jaye are major improvements on their vintage figures.
>>11929167>>11929169The heads are absolutely better now, but I just can't get over how the the Reaction+ figure's arms and legs just look like undefined sausages.
>>11928822I remember some retard here saying that the Cold Slither set was super popular and sold out. The retard thought it was so popular that Hasbro canceled production of other toylines just to rush a second production of toys in less than 4 months, not understanding that the "second production" was just them retrieving and counting stock from what they were physically selling at conventions. It's not surprising he's retarded, given his love for the retarded 80s cartoon.
>>11928822>>11929192retard
>>11929165The new one is more cartoon accurate. I just wish that they'd paint the rivets. >>11929192It sold out in an instant with the pre-order. Then when it came out there were more than what anyone could sell because Hasbro produced way too much of a niche set.
>>11929224Lemme explain something to you retards:Hasbro holds back stock due to selling that stuff at conventions. So once they get it back and count it, they put it back into stock. that can take about a month to do.They don't put anything back into production like that, because the factory's schedule planned out almost a year ahead of time. So something would neeed to be making an incredibly amount of money to stop production of what's already being produced, because that's tens of millions of dollars of products that's already been ordered by retailers. So it almost never happens. Most times, if something IS reproduced becuse they know fans are clamoring for it, it's re-released in a later wave, almost a year or even two down the line, because producing anything takes almost 5 months even for something where the molds have already been made, plus shipping takes around two months depending on th etime of yearSomething that's an SDCC exclusive is understood to have a limited run and never has a high production run anyway. And Cold Slither didn't sell out at SDCC, so everyone in charge would be disappointed if not regretted making it before it was sold at Pulse. And it apparently sold so poorly that they have enough left over stock to dump it to a nation wide chain like Ross.
>>11929169Why do they have to deliberately make the females unattractive? That Lady Jaye looks like a dude, and Arctic Baroness looks like a trannie.
>>11929165>Original: "Ages 5 and up">new version that's made the same way with parts that are no bigger: "ages 14 and up."I guess our collective IQ dropping by one point every year is really showing with that.
>>11929319They have to pay for testing to sell it to kids.Since they don't test it, so its not allowed to be sold to anyone younger than 14.That's how government and laws work.
>>11929287I don't care about stock, it's completely irrelevant to why you are a retard.
>>11929075Yeah it’s suppose to rhyme with “Tara.”
A comparison of the new Baroness and vintage and repro ones.
The new Snake Armor next to the vintage.
The Snake Armor has knees
>>11929167vintage has better sculpting, better details
>>11929626That's actually pretty cool. >>11929603>everything but a 1984 originalThe Black Major figures can be cool, but he does a lot of stuff in really weird colors. >>11929682It's hit-or-miss. Some like Arctic Scarlett, Mara, and BAT have nice and crisp details on par with the originals, but a lot of them have soft details that don't blend in with the originals at all. I wish they'd be more consistent.
>>11929620Wild Bill looks pretty damn good, and looks both cartoon-accurate and like something that would blend in with the original line if rivets were painted.
I didn't preorder the Thunder Machine since I have other shit to deal with. Will Hasbro do another run or are there better 3rd party alternates?
>>11929839Ebay when it comes out, but you'll pay the scalper premium.
The coyote in the Dusty 2pack doesn't look as bad, in hand, as everyone bitched. But Dusty doesn't really even look like the same person from the two previous releases, it looks more like the Retro Duke head sculpt than anything else. Glad I found it at Target but not sure I won't return it before the 90 days are up.
After the Thunder Machine comes out, Hasbro could repaint it in the post-apocalypse desert colors that it proposed ages ago but never built.
>>11930423It painted up like that gives me Tonka Steel Monsters vibes. Hasbro wasn't the only toy company cribbing off of the Mad Max aesthetics.
>>11930458>Tonka Steel Monsters vibesFunny thing about that. When Hasbro took over Tonka, re-using the Tonka Steel Monsters line for GI Joe was part of the plan.
Got Nemesis Immortal in today. Really cool toy, the wings are super impressive and I love how both backpacks are sculpted such they can work as independent creatures.I've got CC on the throne coming on Thursday, hoping I can squeeze it into the Cobra and assorted villains display.
>>11930463That's a nice collection you got going. Needs more dreadnoks though.
The Snake Armor is larger than the vintage one in addition to being more articulated.
>>11930657it also has much less detail and looks cheap and inferior
>>11930880> looks cheap and inferiorHow so? It’s bigger, actually articulates and his several interchangeable arms.
>>11930951he just said, because there's less detail.I honestly appreciate that they gave it ball hinged shoulders and knee joints, but they doesn't seem to be any range from them, making them as poseable as the originals. So kinda pointless.I think that all of the versions are kinda dumb though. Hasbro's remake was too large and missing the point. The cartoonified version is cartoonified.I think it needs more paint to actually make the greebles into something that looks like it might actually do something. And make the arm attachments more recognizable as the weapons they're supposed to be.
>>11930657I've had the original SNAKE armor. It doesn't stay together worth a crap, which is why so many vintage ones are missing pieces that just got lost over the years. Yeah the new one could use more detail in the chest area, but I think it's alright. And it cuts to the chase with being used as a robot instead of an armor suit, which is how the cartoon used it. I don't care for the Classified version, which is a mecha suit.
>>11931016i have the black ones that came out for Rise of Cobra and they stay together fine.Despite always thinking they were silly designs and practically statueshit, i bought two because they were cheap. Pleasantly surprised and almost a realistic take on if someone tried building robotic armor before the Big Dog came out.
Heartwrencher in 2027. Remember that.
>>11931076>2027 is year 8 of the line>still no Firebat or polar battle bear in sightBut hey we'll get a minor dreadnok that no one outside of comic bookfags knows or cares about.
>>11930657Is this the rock campoflage version?
>>11930974>Hasbro's remake was too large and missing the point.I like it myself, might get one at some point. Torn between the OG and the MARS colours though. Also my Throne Cobra Commander came in today, he's incredible. Mine wasn't misassembled either which is nice. Might have to put the throne on a riser though, he gets a bit lost at the back of the Detolf at the moment. Honestly I need to rearrange my figure displays anyway, might put them somewhere else.
The Classified Snake Armor has an inspiration to it.>>11927112Serpentor was as dead at the end of the movie and Vader was at the end of a New Hope.
>>11931277Meanwhile with Golobulus, we never saw his body destroyed or fall into a pit.
I now have a desire for more translucent green animals
Only 3 days left on the General Lee early bird preorders. The Mauler will go up in about three weeks supposedly.
>>11931309Yeah, he left on his own during the battle. Speaking of, how many civilians do you think escaped? There appears to be thousands if not 10s of thousands of civilians there.
>>11931317where'd you get that cat? 5k said they were going to get some but those fags never did.
>>11931277Vader was hit at the end of the movie, but he regained control of his aircraft and was shown calmly flying away in his last scene.Serpentor's last scene is him being slowly strangled by his cape because its caught on the rotors of his exploding flying vehicle that's flying out of control out of tall building. It's the same shit as Ras Al Ghul's last scene in Batman Begins, where he's inside an out of control subway that's flying off the bridge and crashing. They don't show his actual death, but the insinuation of falling down high places is that he died.Same shit. And no, 80s cartoon GI Joe logic isn't going to save Serpentor, because when aircraft are shot down in the cartoon, there's a parachute to show them safely floating to the ground. So Serpentor is actually worse off than Pythona and Nemesis Enforcer who are shown being thrown down a pitch black crack in the ground. Or did they not die either? Like i said, Serpentor is worse off, because Pyhtona and Nemesis Enforcer are INSIDE the tall building that Serpentor's exploding runaway flying vehicle flew out of, so if a crack develops in the floor, wouldn't they just be falling down to the next floor?
>>11931426You sound like a pedantic moron. Serpentor wasn't being choke or falling. He clearly was not killed or intended to be killed. Which is confirmed in Operation Dragonfire.
>>11931450>wearing a cape>cape attached to collar>cape caught in a giant fan moving 10000000mph>not getting strangled>out of control flying vehicle that's exploding>not fallingHow retarded are you that you don't understand the shit that's going on screen? And i have to be pendantic to explain COMMON SENSE LOGIC to retards, and you clearly need it.>Operation Dragonfire.Made by a completely different studio who dropped everything Sunbow (previous studio) was going to do after the movie, and apparently they knew that retarded kids like you exist, so they had to get rid of Serpentor AGAIN. But since it's made for TV, they had to play it kiddy safe because parent group (proto-DEI) messagingSo again, if Serpentor didn't die, does that mean Ras Al Ghul didn't die because their deaths weren't explicit? If Serpentor didn't die, does that mean Pythona and Nemesis Enforcer didn't die either, because their deaths also weren't explicit and the fact that they're dropping from a shorter distance than Serpentor? But please keep ignoring the fact that Hasbro themselves wanted to get rid of Serpentor due to how hated he was, hence THREE MEDIA SOURCES writing up ways to kill him off. So the intent makes it pretty clear what every single media source was doing, even if two of the media sources couldn't be explicit.
>>11931458People survive crashes and explosions every episode. There is NOTHING to suggest otherwise with Serpentor you braindead retard.>(proto-DEI)You just lost all credibility.
>>11931463>There is NOTHING to suggest otherwiseLMAOHasbro literally made THREE different media companies to get rid of the Serpentor character. They each got rid of him in different mannersSo again, by your logic, that means Ras Al Ghul in Batman Begins didn't die.By your logic, Nemesis Enforcer and Pythona didn't die either.Again, even Sunbow logic shows that people on exploding aircraft didn't die because they need to show them parachuting slowly down. Serpentor didn't have a parachute.>not knowing what parent groups areor are you just one of those people who are pro DEI? which may explain why you have no logic at all.
>>11931478Take it to /co/, subby.
>>11931317I'm still amazed how Hasbro took one of the shittiest figures in the original line, and turned him into one of the coolest in the Classified line. I hope they'll reissue him with glow-in-the-dark "ghost effects."
I just got done watching G.I. The Movie for the first time.Hot take: Duke should have died for real and Hasbro are cowards for not going through with it.
>>11922198 It's like Sam Cartier stepped through the Stargate and got ugly.
>>11931478Getting rid of him isn't killing him. Only one person was killed in the entire GI Joe cartoon run (Headman in the DIC years), and that was to send a message to kids about drugs. They never really killed Serpentor, and just turned him into a lizard where he took off and was never seen again. It was only in the comic books where Serpentor was killed off, and that's because Larry Hama didn't give a shit. >>11931669They didn't want to piss off kids any more than they did after killing off Optimus Prime and a ton of Autobots that kids really liked.
>>11931675>They didn't want to piss off kids any more than they did after killing off Optimus Prime and a ton of Autobots that kids really liked.I get that, but that's also why they should have done it. Shit like the death of Optimus Prime and the Autobot shuttle massacre sparked an emotional reaction in the kids that saw it and led to Transformers eventually becoming a multigenerational franchise. The same thing could have happened with G.I Joe if they'd had the balls to commit. Also, actually killing a guy onscreen instead of just talking a lot of shit and repeatedly getting his ass kicked would have done wonders for Serpentor as a villain.
>>11931686>The same thing could have happened with G.I Joe if they'd had the balls to commit. They did outright replace Duke for a while in the DIC cartoons and in the toy line. For a while Captain Gridiron was in charge of the teams and General Hawk with his space-suit kept making appearances while commanding. They didn't bring Duke back in any command capacity until that failed, and DIC was in its last year of the cartoons in 1991. So yeah there was an effort to get rid of Duke anyway until they realized that he's too much of a face in "the brand."
>>11931700It seems really weird to me that they'd replace Duke with anyone other than Flint. I get that most fans prefer Duke due to him being the OG, but as someone with no nostalgic attachment to any of this shit, Flint seems much more like 'the guy' to me based on his design. He just looks like the dude who should be leading everyone into battle.
>>11931397https://www.kowkistoy.com/products/in-stock-wf-2026-limited-edition-fury-toys-tiger-translucent-green-verIts expensive but I really like D.I.R.E.>>11931547Same
>>11931715Flint also didn't show up until the last year of DIC (1991), and then he was in charge of a small team of "eco-warriors" while having a different VA. And the way they wrote his character made him seem like he was an entirely new character who was "Flint" in name only. Whatever was going on in Hasbro, it really did seem like they were trying to bury absolutely as much as they can and have a clean start after the movie.
>>11931716Price wasn't terrible till I saw the shipping lol.
>>11931458Serpentor's cape doesn't go around his neck, it goes over his shoulders, you're arguing he's somehow getting strangled by it, and ignoring that he survived his Air Chariot crashing full-speed into a wall in his debut story in the cartoon. Sunbow Serpentor was Sgt Slaughter tier, they were beyond the limitations of mortal men.Did you think Galvatron was killed at the end of the Transformers movie? If the DIC Joe cartoon didn't exist would you think Destro, the Baroness and all those other Cobras and Dreadnoks died?Pythona and Nemesis Enforcer are for all intents and purposes dead because the Sunbow cartoon ends there and the DIC cartoon doesn't use them, but if you're arguing that a winged superhuman and a ninja-tier acrobatic villain getting thrown into a pit with climbable spikes growing out of it's sides is an obvious death, most people who aren't retarded would consider it ambiguous enough that if the cartoon had continued, Sunbow and Hasbro could be keeping their options open on whether they lived or died. And as you've been told before, DIC wrote Serpentor out because his toy was no longer on sale, Hama was allowed to kill him in the comics after the toy was no longer on sale due to his own dislike of the character, neither of these things had anything to do with the character being "hated by everyone", and both had to do so in ways that explicitly left an opening for him to return.Even Hama's dislike of Serpentor had nothing to do with his role or personality, and just that his origins were pushing the comic into science fiction territory and as an artist himself, he found the costume too elaborate and busy.
>>11931813Yeah shipping sucks shit but I don't know anyone else who has it. Mine was 78 of like 700 or something too so it doesn't seem like they made a lot
>>11931675>Getting rid of him isn't killing him.an off screen death is still a death.Again, are you going to argue Ras Al GHul didn't die just bcause they didn't show his explicit death? What about Pythona and Nemesis Enforcer?Of course you know how wrong you are, because you keep ignoring this. Plus the fact that Sunbow's own cartoon logic requires him to have a parachute to show he survived his out of control exploding aircraft. The intent was clear, because Hasbro needed to get rid of Serpentor after all the hate he got.>>11931715Duke isn't an OG. He was brought in almost 2 years later and is actually pretty lame. HE's basicAlly just a narrator who makes expository statements to further the plot and explain actions in the cartoon. And barely a charcter in the comic.>>11931930cool contradictory logic and not understanding how clothes works. makes you sound like you're just arguing for the sake of arguing.
>>11931723Sunbow ≠ DIC, s of ocourse a lot of shit was changed around.Given how the DIC cartoon was still following following the 80s rules, they used the shittiest of writers and didn't really put much care into the writing (or animation). It was just an overglorified toy commercial, so you can't expect any consistency.Shit like the DIC and Sunbow cartoon are why most adults still don't respect the medium.
>>11932098>an off screen death is still a death.Which Serpentor never did no matter what mental gymnastics you try. That's why he was still around for Dragonfire. You're just trying to present your "head-canon" as something factual.
>>11932179>ignoring sunbow ≠ DIC>ignoring own cartoon's logic>ignoring how offscreen deaths work>ignoring Hasbro satisfied fans demands to get rid of Serpentor across all mediaAre you a troll who's just disagreeing just to keep arguing?Or are you just retarded?
>>11932194There you go with your head-canon bullshit. Serpentor was never killed in the cartoon. He was turned into a lizard. it was only in the comic books where he was killed. It is what it is. It's obvious that you apparently want it to be more than that, but it's not.
Don't you think its about time you two took this to /co/ it has nothing to do with toys and you're just talking around each other non stop polluting thread.
>>11932205That never works, these two guys have been having this back and forth since the D.I.R.E Vipers pricing and we all have been suffering for it since neither will leave or stop or ignore the other.
Found some classic Joe's. The blue helmet guy was one of my favorites.
>>11932203>head canonyeah, ok, dic and sunbow totally are the same studio and used the same writer. serpentor safely parachuted out of his flying machine on screen. movies don't kill characters off screen in the same manner as Serpentor. Hasbro only made a single figure of serpentor and totally didn't have three media sources get rid of him the next year.>>11932205> talking around each other I've directly asked him questions aBout his logic, so I've been more than direct.>>11932384oh, so you also think he's that third worlder who barely got into GI Joe and owns like 6 GI Joe figures total? HE's also from the dead WH0k general, where he also didn't know shit about WH40k until i explained it to him.Makes sense he's clueless about how stories work, because of his third worlder education. Also explains why he likes a shitty 80s cartoon.also i never said anything aBout pricing, but i was there in that thread.
>>11931478The Rawhides helicopter gets shot down and crashes through a building with Chuckles outside the vehicle and non are even injured. Flying off upside in his chariot doesn't imply anything about his fate. It was also the end of Sunbow so "writing him off" wasn't a thing. And DIC is a direct sequel, that he is in. So trying to count it twice just makes you a retard and a faggot.
>>11932405based
>>11932690>doesn't know what autorotation is>shows them survivingliterally not an offscreen deathSerpentor died just like Pythona, Ras al Ghul and Nemesis Enforcer.>DIC is a direct sequelIt's another studio, going in a different direction from what Sunbow was going to do, by completely different writers.Again, Hasbro needed to make it clear to all the retarded kids who don't understand offscreen deaths like your retarded self, that they got rid of Serpentor again. Redundant, but they needed to ensure that retards like yourself knew he was gone, because they got so many complaints about Serpentor. Also, i love how this entire argument stems from some zoomer who thought the love/hate for Serpentor was 50/50 in back in the day, when it clearly wasn't, hence him being killed off just a year after his release. You gotta be overwhelmingly shat on by a fanbase to get killed off that fast.Lotta clueless gits love speaking about shit they know nothing About.
>>11932704>>11932690God I hate you faggots so much Just exchange e-mails already we're all sick of you autistic fucks
>>11932423>Hasbro only made a single figure of serpentor and totally didn't have three media sources get rid of him the next year. You're delusional. We know killing Serpentor in the comics was Hama's choice, not something Hasbro told him to do, and you're clearly the only person who thought he died in the movie. We don't really know what characters Sunbow would have carried over into a 1987 cartoon season if there'd been one, but as Serpentor was still on sale that year, he'd probably have been there. As the comic story was one where Serpentor and the Joes fought together against the real Cobra Commander's killer who was now impersonating him and running Cobra into the ground, it's hard to imagine there were that many people besides yourself rooting for that story to end the way it did with the imposter winning the war and staying in control of Cobra, especially as nobody would have known Hasbro would eventually let Hama bring the real Cobra Commander back. The only thing where there's a Hasbro mandate in place is just the DIC cartoon in 1989 where they have Serpentor in at the start to maintain continuity with the older Sunbow series but write him out because the toy was no longer on sale, and like in the comics, they built in a backdoor to bring him back in case Hasbro later asked them to.You're just assuming your own personal hatred for Serpentor was shared by everyone, and that every other kid was writing letters pleading PLEASE DADDY HASBRO MAKE THE ANGRY SNAKE COSTUME MAN GO AWAY HE SCARES ME and you think this was some sort of "appease the upset fandom" thing like the Transformers cartoon bringing Optimus Prime back. Parents weren't sending Hasbro complaints about Cobra having a new leader the way they were complaining about the Transformers movie making kids cry.And you do certainly have a lot of retarded opinions about a cartoon you openly hate and act like it was beneath you even when you were physically the child you still are mentally.
>>11932764>what if doesn't matter, because what happened is an offscreen death just like Ras al Ghul, Pythona, and Nemesis EnforcerAgain, Sunbow logic dictates for him to have a parachute to survive his exploding flying aircraft, which he didn't have.Again, Sunbow ≠ DIC, so of course shit doesn't carry over exactly like the sunbow cartoon and DIC needs to get rid of Serpentor too, because that's what HAsbro told them due to Serpentor being hatedAgain, Hasbro got rid of Serpentor in only a single year because he was hated. No other character was gotten rid of that fast across three different media sources. Villain of the weeks like Nemesis Enforcer and Pythona don't count. They were created specifically to die off, unlike Serpentor, but he died just the same as they did: off screen. And again, i don't hate Serpentor. That's just your cope. I actually lived in the 80s, 90s, and 00s, and didn't really find anyone who liked the character until normies started stinking up the internet. Before that, it was either indifference (me) or hate. You have no opinion and are full of shit you only read from wiki, because you're a dirty zoomer who barely got into GI Joe. I already asked you to post proof you're not and you ignored that just like you ignore the 4 points above. Maybe to buy yourself some time so you can order the cheapest Joe on ebay.
