>>11910336Thoughts on capes? The one good thing about the star wars ccbs is they had a lot of cheap clothing and capes. These are lifted from the blind guy and captain phasma I had scraps of.
>>11910417Cool to try and make custom ones, as long as it doesn’t cover up the whole body it’s fine by me, may be cook to make one that covers up one side and has the hand go through it though. Just a shame about all the official ones prices. Also a shame about all the aftermarket prices for those damn chains being exorbitant
>>11910417Honestly?For the past week I've been imagining what a constraction line designed to incorporate elements Bionicle couldn't do because of its established world building and apparel was one of themI don't have drawings or anything but I basically pictured something more 2000's goth and Victorian-era in mindI know Kualus has a scarf but that's still a fan design and I was imagining that kind of look being more standard for the hypothetical theme in my head
>>11910454I feel like Gen 2 benefits most from the star wars capes/robes (and the guns too) because the mostly flat texture and similar body structure to the star wars ccbs figures. I did not know that chains were getting expensive, I gave most of mine away as scrap lego. With all the clear parts and bright colors I do think the capes help Gen 2 from looking looking too frutiger aero aesthetic.
>>11910460Yeah those bionicle chains are super expensive, tread chains not as much but they are harder to use in a build
Slowly building up an army sized amount of universal joints and other steering related shit, gotta figure out how to use them for bionicle besides big vehicle for toa
So this is VERY SPECIFIC z-list LEGO?And why, exactly, is it better than third Party KO Chinese blockLEGO?
>>11910775what
>>11910775If you have third-party balljoint-compatible construction figures that you would like to show off, you are more than welcome to do so, because ultimately this is more a constraction thread than strictly Bionicle. I for one love a good booty.
new RVFX video droppedhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=tujFCZzF-6E
>>11900707I finished the gun and it does fire, in theory anyway. Theres a single plastic axle that the entire mechanism relies on and I feel replacing it with a metal one would be better.
>>11911965>it does fire, in theory anywayIt literally cannot possibly be worse than a Cordak blaster.
>>11911981It is, the plastic axle is too weak to resist twisting on full load, so at most right now im able to load half lol and even then it struggles
>>11911965Damn that's a pretty big gunMind recording a video of it firing?
>>11911965Nice RYNO
>>11910417Basically the only good thing to come from Soi Wars, and it's an accessory to snazz up the toy line it strangled in the cradle. Fucked up.
My 3D-printed blade worked. Fit perfectly. Sucks that the intact one aged and lost its hue, but I feel something that I have been missing for so long is finally done. Guurahk was my first BIONICLE, gifted in my birthday decades ago. And the one whose blade I broke. Some others got its pieces lost over time or broken spontaneously (my Phantoka Lewa oddly enough) but this is the one I really felt it was something I needed to deal with
>>11911985Maybe it's just the FOV, but that bit on the back right before the knob looks like it's at an angle to start with. I don't think it's properly legally fitting between the Roborider chassis and the socket piece, and consequently you're ending up forcing the axle to bend whenever it rotates.
>>11912613It looks really accurate, but mind explaining why 3D print a replacement for Guurahk's staff? That piece was reused throughout all of G1, why not just get a new one?
>>11912613Got any other projects on the work bench? It'd be cool to see new rahkshi spines or more mask recolors.
anybody know if kingsidorak printed pieces are quality? im looking to replace all the ball joint socked limbs from the visorak lines, all of my toa and villains from 06-07 have cracks and are majorly damagedis kingsidorak any good?
>>11912650pic rel? no the whole thing spins fine without any ammo loaded and that piece is a pin hole all throughout. I'm very certain it's just the fact that abs plastic is not strong enough to fire 2 or more missiles>>11911991I wanna upgrade the central axle first
>>11913255Yeah, that. Maybe the perspective on it is just screwy on account of the gear being sloped, I'll have to replicate it and see what's going on there.
>>11913211The taxes in my country…>>11913224None cause my focus really was fixing my first. Though yeah since this turned out this good I’m thinking of checking other pieces later.
>>11912613>My 3D-printed blade worked. Fit perfectly.Hm. Whenever I thought about 3D-printed Bionicle or Bionicle-likes, I always discounted it based on ball joints; too rough unless you sand, and even then likely too brittle to hold over time. But pieces that only rely on axles ought to be totally fine. I guess pins (or any other connection relying on tension rather than pure friction) would be another weak spot for 3D printed parts, but probably not as bad as ball joints. It gets me thinking about a modular building system based around 3D printing everything but ball joints and their connections. I've always imagined a superior system to Bionicle would be more modular in the first place, and it'd be cool if the majority of it could be DIY'd; the limit on high-quality repro Bionicle parts seems to be that injection moulding is too expensive to justify the quantity sold of most parts, especially given the variety of pieces. But if there were only a handful of ball joint parts that needed it those could be pumped out and sold in bulk while the rest is handled with cheaper manufacturing options (including by the users themselves).
Playground for Zamor Spheres>>11911985might not work in practice, but damn it looks cool as hell
Where do I find the G2 masks for stud.io?
>>11913882In your imagination.
>>11913882Aren't they in either the SidoPak or the Stud.io pack?https://bioniclerebuilt.wixsite.com/fallingstars/studio-guide-v2It's been a while since I've last touched Studio though, and I don't recall ever looking for the G2 masks, so I'm not sure they're actually there.
>>11910336I was gonna say they might have hired him for some constraction project but I checked his Instagram and yeah, he's done plenty of system MOCs so it's definitely just that

Shit I could do that right now! thx>>11912613that piece in black looks really cool maybe you should print out another
>>11914814>>11914815>>11914816>>11914822This is looking awesome, huge improvement over the last iteration.
>>11914822This guy's really shaping up. I like the direction you're headed. Reminds me I'm still curious how the meltdown mask fits on a metru skull.
>>11914822Cool stuff. Too bad the inika schizo wont like it
>>11914822Thinking of the colours you've got going so far, dark blue for the arms could look super cool, and there are a lot of limb pieces available in that colour. And if you want to improve the range of motion on the shoulders, you could do something like pic related. That said, your torso right now looks really good, and this would make things a decent bit bulkier. Stability might still be okay since it looks like you're going to put both hands on the gun (plus a stand?).
>>11901953Bionicle's in this weird place where if it was owned by almost any toy company it'd be something they'd at least try to prioritize more and keep running to a degreeMaybe they keep an amount of the molds getting made and lean more into that market being largely empty Maybe they'd be more open to licensing deals toy related or not keeping the brand active in that way especially for nostalgia moneyMaybe they'd be like WEP and Voltron or why the Chaotic card game is coming back in that they HAVE to keep the IP somewhat active because they have nothing else Lego however is fucking Lego, they have broader options with their universal system that people outright call any interlocking bricks "Legos" despite Lego's repeated pleas for people not to do thatI'm not trying to whine over it, I do understand why Bionicle is dormant and I honestly don't think Lego hates Bionicle like certain people do
>>11914992Lego certainly does not hate Bionicle as a whole, but they do know mousecucks make up something like 70% of their revenue and will never do anything to upset Goysney, which of course means never reviving Bionicle.
>>11915171There are many different reasons Lego just can’t bring Bionicle back, from their policy on mold destruction to the failure of G2 tainting the brand for retailers. It’s not just because Lego makes shitloads collaborating with big IPs now, though that certainly plays a role. Bionicle was something that Lego needed when it was on the brink of death; it isn’t necessarily what Lego needs now.It sucks that we’ll probably never get more proper Bionicle from Lego ever again, but that’s where we come in. We will keep the flame alive and keep retelling the legend. Don’t be sad that it has come to an end; be glad that it happened!
>>11915171Maybe if somebody snipes somebody at disney who’s forcing the LSW shit constantly bionicle has am iota of a chance to come back.
>>11915314If you ask me, I think the failure of G2 is the biggest indicator that we'll never have a proper Bionicle line ever again. People have their theories and reasons as to why they think it didn't pop off like the OGs did, doesn't change that it's something definitive Lego can look at and go "We tried and people didn't buy it". Sucks to see something we all know and love treated that way, but it is what it is. Lego is perfectly happy to include the occasional Easter Egg or reference in other sets they know will sell for non-Bionicle reasons.Personally I'd rather it stay dead because I know if it were to come back it would almost certainly be System and Bionicle being a non-System line was part of the charm. My "If I had billions and could make Lego do anything" wish wouldn't even be for new sets, I'd just make them reforge old molds I'm sure they still have specs of and do assorted part reprints.Old MOC for attention.
>>11914863it looks like this
>>11915315I don't think current Lego could ever bring back Bionicle in the way old fans want, irrespective of any strong feelings anyone there may or may not have on the matter. Back then the whole concept of a multimedia-backed in-house line was in a super experimental stage that has long since passed, and by now the "correct" formula has settled in far too much to leave room for anything that wild. Even if Bionicle returned with serious effort behind it, it would more likely just end up a Ninjago clone instead of anything resembling G1.
Again, I'm fine with Bionicle being overI love it a lot but even back then I thought G1 had a solid endingIt's the fact that a theme didn't truly replace it for today in constraction that rubs me the wrong way Bare in mind, I was cool with Hero Factory even if I thought it could've done more
>>11915979>it would more likely just end up a Ninjago cloneSo G2? The sets were definitely Ninjagofied with the spam of gold, silver and transparent colors
>>11916363I'm fine with it being over as a toy line, I still long for a game though or something set in the universe. My yearly playthrough of MNOG might be influencing me.
Wish there was a bit more medium blue about or trans medium blue.
>>11916632Same thing. Sad times.
>there's no trans-black kaukaufor what purpose?
>>11916985The “trans black” that you’re thinking of literally wasn’t a thing until 2018 or so, we got brown and thats it
>>11916985It would be useless, as Onua is racially incapable of swimming.
>>11915543Fuck, if not for the axel connector it'd have been perfect
>>11915979>>11916388>>11916363At this point I've accepted Bionicle's retirement. It's nice to get nods to the series here and there, but G2 was so distinct from what preceded it I'd rather it have been a new IP outright. My larger desire these days is a revival of true constraction. I hate the brick built mixel jointed builds so much. In my book, you just cannot beat buildable robots.
>>11915345Great MOC, always love that color scheme.I'd be fine with lego burying bionicle outright if they just let fans take the wheel. More companies should embrace the TF2 approach. Just hand off the baton to the fans and let them take the wheel. How much money was lego actually going to lose out on if that one fan game came out? Or the fully realized build of the PC game for that matter? It's just so cunty of them.
>>11917012>had a brainfart and went "wait if the trans-brown is the black kaukau what is the brown one?">remembered the neon fucking orange one

>>11918611Inika schizo ruined this thread
>>11915979>>11916363I'm of the same opinion. It has some loose threads that needed to be closed including the entirety of Bota Magna. But it successfully paid off the foreshadowing of nearly a decade with Mata Nui's revelation and then capped it off with the Journey's End. We have no end to stories and franchises axed that leave you bitter, BIONICLE instead gave you a finale worthy of its run.Furthermore nowadays the industry is just different. It wouln't ever work in a modern context because modern hobbies *have* to appease someone. Better let it rest in its grave than become something like Star Wars.

>>11920887There are some strange omissions here overall. Including Lego Batman but excluding Søy Wars? Was the book produced by Warner? And yet, even there, the Bionicle comic was DC...
>>11921368Squandering HF feels like the bigger tragedy to me all these years later. The first two years were perfect for the most part. Everything after that feels like wheel spinning. The heavier reliance on ccbs shells, the poor use of specialized bones, the growing abscence of technic in the later sets, it all just sapped my interests over time. Fumbling capeshit and chima didnt help things. Chima especially stung because those sets mogged post-2.0 HF so hard. If they had been smart they would have done some sort of time travel themed HF wave using those chima components. Knight Stormer, Samurai Furno, Musketeer Surge, Executioner Stringer, etc all could have gone over well. It would have also been cool if we'd stuck with the 1.0 villain cast. Again, after a certain point the later villains strike me as either rehashes or lesser iterations on the same idea. See Corroder and Toxic Reaper, or Thunder and Splitface. Since I'm on this rant I'll also mention this idea I had for a wave which boiled down to mirror universe HF.>Von Ness (Von Nebula but built with Hydraxon's pieces. Utilizing the blue and red Bohrok Kal shells, the G2 Bonkle skelly bits for forearms, and ×6 Raanu's shield pieces as hands in place of piraka feet) gallant leader of the Hero Forge's Legion of Light, is tasked with taking down the former heroes gone bad, Alpha Squad. After a chronological altercation in the main timeline, Surge has to aid the Legion in the hopes of getting back to his own world. Some of the foes the Legion and Surge end up facing would include a Core Hunter-esque corrupted Stormer, a mutated plant monster Breeze named "Brush", a two headed nightmare fusion of Stringer and Bulk named "Surround Sound", and a Starscream-esque Furno. The legion of light guys would be all the 1.0 villains reimagined as heroes.
Forgot to add, the time travel villain responsible for surge's arrival in this universe/time would be his doppelganger and one of the main antagonists who aids Alpha Squad in critical points of the story.

>>11922054The shoulders look really wide now, especially with the extra pauldrons on the back. I think you'd have better balance if you trimmed that back and made the arms a little simpler (and smaller, which is the other way to balance the proportions with the legs). I was imagining Vahki legs in all dark blue. I think their thigh pieces appear in dark blue, though I realise now the sets don't have that. The Vahki shins are bulky enough to suit the hueg gun, but the combo would still be short enough to balance the legs. Plus the colour-blocking would be nice. That shoulder joint isn't quite what I meant. I meant you'd put it on the socket where the front yellow pauldron is, then connect the pauldron to the front and the upper arm from below. Think about it more as a collarbone than as simply a double-jointed shoulder. See pic related for the orientation I mean. It'd still make your shoulders slightly wider and bulkier, but not as much as things are now.

The bipod is doing a lot of the heavy lifting when I pose him standing up by creating friction with those rubber liftarms
>>11923645>legs are short? They're the same length as the armsBroadly speaking, they really shouldn't be, but in your particular case the arms are still shorter so that's not the problem. It's the longer torso, makes the legs look a bit stubby.
>>11920887Sad because IT LITERALLY saved their fucking company
>>11923645>legsIf you go off human proportions there are some rules of thumb for scale of limbs, but the most basic is going to be legs > arms > torso for sizes. Obviously Bionicles, especially the standard Toa designs, are highly stylised, with the heads in particular being really big proportionally, but I'd hazard that at larger scales where the heads start hitting more human-like scales it's easier for things to look uncanny. If you look at pic related, you can pretty much see Toa scale versus titan scale, and how broadly you can mix up all these variables to give a different impression. There's other stuff too like bigger heads for "cute" characters. You're also not limited to human proportions or even human bodyplans, obviously. When you start going into short legs and long arms, you're going to have a character looking more like a gorilla. About the shoulders, they look out of whack with how lanky your character is otherwise. That with the hunched posture and bug head makes the "heroic" look of super wide shoulders out of place. (Plus they look disjointed structurally, though I think your arm for the gun is cool.) It can be really helpful to think of a simplified human skeleton when you build, then adjust the scale from there. And on colours: you can make things stand out by bunching them together and playing more with contrast. Like you made big improvements to the legs by making them predominantly black and yellow, and by splitting those colours into groups (all black for thighs, yellow for shins and foot joints with blue highlights, black again for feet). Dark blue is relegated to a highlight now, but using it again for the entirety of the arms would give it more presence while reducing the clutter of colours. It'd ironically make the rest of the black and yellow stand out more.I'm being really nitpick-y, but these are just tips and things I think about. Your build is still shaping up to be cool. Big improvements over your past builds too.
>>11924036Regular inigga-style set proportions kind of throw off how people think of moc proportions too, I think.>gorilla arms as long as legs>huge shoulderspan over twice as wide as hips>teeny tiny short body
>>11923264keep the stickers, they look cool.
>>11924451Yeah, that's a good point. Looking at the Inika sets, the head-to-height ratio isn't as small as I'd thought even with their bigass "masks" or whatever they were. I don't think they look too bad on their own if I'm being honest, and I remember finding them cool as a kid, but it's a shame they became the template (including for most enemy waves too, which really sucks when you consider the variety before that). The limb scale is definitely the worst part.Thinking of the hips in particular, it's crazy that the Metru hips more or less set one point of scale for Toa for the rest of the series.
>>11923645>what do you mean when you say the legs are short? They're the same length as the armsHoly shit, no wonder most Bionicle MOCs are so ass
I've been looking at japanese mocs from time to time, and while it's nothing incredible it's cool seeing what they can do with a more limited parts library, since bionicles had a more limited release there
>>11924624Have another
>>11924632Don't know where this guy's head is but he can flip upside down so he's kinda cool
>>11924624Where are you getting these from? Japanese, Korean and Chinese MOCs I keep seeing are usually way above this level.
>>11924690Random japanese twitter accounts into bionicle
Wonder how it works to replicate the pink tahu eyes
>>11924624Cool>>11924638>>11924632Garbage
>>11913231you're better off going to aliexpress. They'll ship faster than kingsidorak's 6+ month lead time. That is, if he even responds to you or takes your order.
>>11924036Wtf I had no idea I just assumed both limbs were the same length lol, I was just going off how the inika and mahri looked proportionally too and figured that was normal for a 'toa-sized' build. I'll have to finish what I got in mind right now and then take a long good look because I do realize the shoulders are pretty far out right now. And no I actually appreciate your feedback you are not nitpicky at all.I like the extra pauldrons, it looks as if he's wearing a big flak jacket to protect him from shrapnel.Navy blue is pretty much a highlight on these characters, a tertiary color with lime being secondary and yellow being the primary one. Black or dark bluish gray are neutral and its usually black if its not found on the torso. Wouldn't hurt to try on dark blue for the arm but it may end up being yellow again with navy blue for highlight.pic unrel, new legs I was building for Ikakrix, my titan yellow brawler
>>11924690Not him but you can just follow one Japanese guy and they'll likely repost others
Why are the compiled Bionicle books inside of the "Biological Chronicle" fan made books, kind of mid to read? They are kid novels, but it's so simple and mediocre.
>>11925740It never occurred to me that you could loop Kalmah's tentacles like thatMind=blown
>>11925923They're made below a YA audience and didn't have the same leeway to get away with the same level of shock value other kids novels had because of the additional oversight from LegoMost people latch onto Bionicle for the world and atmosphere and while the books do have fans and are the way to get a full investment into the story nobody is gonna say they're written beyond I dunno, the Pokemon anime movies in regards to writing (and I say this as a fan of Shudo's vision)
Man. This guy really hasn't improved in all the years he's posted. It's almost funny to see stagnation of this kind
>>11926735Jesus christ how fucking BORING
>>11926735It's a good moc. Better than most of the shit posted in here.
>>11921094He's likely an enabler/ally as they say, but the most I've seen that could be considered troon behaviour is being a twink and wearing femboy clothing with the printed Kraahkan on as a "joke". Arguably ,while kinda gay, that does not turn you into a troon as much as some of the people in this forsaken community would want.>>11923232>Gets groomed by a fag>Turns transThe joke just writes itself
>>11920903>By that logic they hate Star Wars and LOVE Vikings>1999: LEGOLAND California opens in Carlsbad; Lego Star Wars makes its debut in storesThey are not excluding it, they get at least a mention.Still it's weird that nearly every single inhouse IP from the 2000s gets ignored (including Bionicle, obviously) while Vikings gets mentioned in 2006 , specially considering Exoforce was in its first year and Vikings was just ending after a way shorter lifespan and less sets.
>>11925740More of these plz
Anyone else here who lately started unfollowing accounts posting about "community" drama, politics and bitching about AI? Like, holy shit, you're running a fucking Bionicle/Lego account, stfu and post your fucking MOCs. But usually the MOCs of these people suck anyways.
>>11927015I always respond to these posts with "literally who". E-celebs are retarded
>>11927015So why follow them at all of the mocs usually suck? That dont make sense
>>11927015The only Bionicle fans I follow are the Japanese onesAny cool shit from the non-Japanese gets reposted by them anyways
>>11927015
>>11927256I cringed.I like how the arms and staves are drawn on the Vahki though, very 2001 comix.
>>11927256Honestly it's a good piece of art and can be completely divorced from Burgerland politics if the text was removed
>>11927758Even without the political context it's mediocre at best.
>>11927758And wah wah
>>11930034Yeah, no, >>11927804 was right, it's kind of shit even without the cringe caption.
Diminished Hahli has regular Mata blue feet, not Metru blue. She only got Metru blue pieces when she got rebuilt. Seeing MOCs of diminished Hahli with Metru blue feet makes me unreasonably angry.
>>11930457Like holy shit
>>11930469>>11930457I wish Dark Yellow was used at all in Bionicle parts
>>11930469>excluding one specific shot where you can barely see themImagine being this concerned about the quality of your Ga-loli feet pic collection. Redditroons are truly something else.
Shit, she actually has Metru blue feet in Templar material
>>11931398That’s weird>the first usage of dark blue bricks was in 2001 on xalax hereWhat the fuck
So, is Bionicle generally considered troonslop?

>>11931644>think they look like the toa and not Nhidiki, Krekka, and Makuta; the actual shapeshifters.

post something from your collection
Happy Halloween.Remember that Bionicle ball sockets will eventually crack...I seriously hope that 1:1 accurate bootleggers have covered all the Bionicle sets to a near indistinguishable quality. Like one needs a magnifying glass to see. 3D printing won't cut it as far as I know.>>11932609My collection of Bionicles are in pieces. I have OG Tahu. And that's it. The Lewa and Onua are somewhere but missing pieces. My Takuanuva (Karda Nui) is in pieces never to be fully rebuilt with the original pieces I owned.
>>11927256>>11930034>>11930099Have normies started to mock these sorts of images where it is using fictional characters to make a political statement? What I find distasteful is that the "other side" can do the same. It is basically picking up a puppet and the author says the words by moving the puppet's mouth. Now with AI this is even easier. It feels weird seeing Bionicle used for this sort of thing though.
>>11932740I tried MOCing the other day. I hadn't touched my pieces for months by then. And it seems that the "handle" part of most if not all of my CCBS era ball sockets have cracked for some reason.
>>11932740>Remember that Bionicle ball sockets will eventually crack...That's not even the worst part, even if they don't crack those things are 20 years old, it's becoming harder and harder to find ones that aren't loose.
>>11932743handle part? the middle?
