Far be it from me to judge, but I can't understand how anyone can build a Puni Mofu, put it on a display shelf, and invite others to come look at it. Apparently they still sell like crazy though, I remember when they struggled to keep Mao on the shelves.

Consider their shelf presence as a group.

Base Xaio and Lang are pretty normal.
    >>
    >>11908704
I have them on display on my room, not on the living room where people are. The only people that I would even allow into my room are friends that I know have no issue with them. I do have actual 18+ figures so the puni mofus are really tame compared to those, although maybe some people might find them worse than a topless big tiddy anime girl.
    >>
    >>11908689
    >Will they be color C and D?
Personally I am hoping for color E. I need a block 2 S body in color E for research purposes. Or they could do S size chassis kits, just as good.
    >>
    >>11908704
I showed my mom my Yuki Tu and she thought she was cute. Though these newer ones are a little more lewd and I'd probably be embarrassed to show them if I ever get them… But people have shelves of big hentai statues. Some don’t have friends or family so it’s not a problem, some hide them, some have company with the same interest. So potential judgment is not really stopping people from buying such things.

So, looks like they're rereleasing the first Emulator as "Emulator 1-A", now with the additional faceplates from Emulator 2 so she can have more facial expressions.
Also...I thought these two were on the same team? Or is Wreckage Hunter just a rogue third party who's against everyone on both sides?

Where does one read up on the Megalomaria lore, anyhow? Just Google Translate all the manuals, or do I also have to watch all of Koto's videos?
    >>

There's actually an ongoing official webnovel on the official site, along with bios for every character so far:
Just run it through a translator (if you use something like Chrome, it should already have one built-in).

So the cheerleaders get safety shorts, but the idol get frilly black pantsu. Koto!!!
    >>
    >>11909712
I guess it just depends on the particular school/region, since these are teenage schoolgirls and not professional adult cheerleaders. I'm kind of surprised too, I would expect the idol to have the safety shorts and the cheerleaders to have the bikini cut bottoms.
    >>
    >>11909712
    >>11909799
Modern woman's rights movements in Japan over the past few decades have actually had a lot of their school uniforms modified because the girls were legitimately embarrassed to be exposed like that; safety shorts were added to cheerleader outfits and are now allowed under most standard uniforms (which have had their skirts all lengthened), bloomer bottoms for gym uniforms were changed to identical shorts to what boys wear, and the swimsuits were all changed to something more modest. Basically everything you see in anime and manga hasn't actually existed in schools since the 90's, and the reality is that modern school uniforms have been made as non-sexualizing as possible.

This maid one looks so cute. If it's half as good as that illustration, I'll have to get it.
    >>
    >>11909799
Honestly I expected both to have safety shorts, since I thought that was the norm for idols. I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed all the thigh parts were in skin tone.
    >>11909895
Thanks for the daily reminder that real life sucks. I did pick up at some point that schools no longer used bloomers, the classic school swimsuit, etc., and that their appearance in media is just do to fan service, nostalgia, or the setting being in the past. For the cheerleader kits, I'm pretty sure I can delete the shorts using some thigh parts from the dress-up bodies, I just haven't actually tried it.

Anyway, here she is all snapped. The skirt was quite a process to put together but looks great. Generally, there are a lot of parts that are handed, keyed, or match-marked and only meant to go in one way, and quite a few small parts. So maybe skip her if you dislike that sort of thing. Seems like they traded off articulation and simplicity for better color seperation, sort of reminds me or MD Garm Ripper in terms of the sheer number of small parts. I'm pretty pleased with her, which is good since I already have the Koto shop recolor in my box fort lol.

You can't - that bulge relies on the elasticity of skin that a model kit doesn't have, so in any pose other than that one it will look like a futa bulge.
If you made an entire static lower torso like SST does with some of their kits (Emma in pic related, though the kind included with Swimsuit Rui would actually be closer to the exact pose in the image), you might be able to pull it off - but again, only when it's in this position where the thighs would naturally cause the crotch to squish a bit.
    >>
    >>11912892
I like Kabuto as much as the next guy, but this one doesn't look that great compared to Cyclone Hopper. Maybe it's just that the theme doesn't work as well for a girlpla.
    >>
    >>11913029
Probably because Kabuto was sleek as fuck, this one is reusing parts from Yip Fung Sim which was adapted from Ichi-Gata Rocking Hopper, a pretty angular and overcomplicated design. It's the same problem as the ugly new Kabuto 20th anniversary Riders.

I mean, it's a pretty saturated market right now, especially with China getting into the game and the Iran war driving up the cost of oil (which is what's used to create these plastic kits), it's a bad time to try to break into the girlpla market. I definitely don't blame them for quitting before sinking too many resources into this potential black hole, especially if they don't have something that will outshine the competition and knock everyone's socks off.

Probably better that they focus on what they're good at anyway. For me, they and Tamiya are still the top game when it comes to aircraft kits, I will happily buy their stuff there.

They did last model show. They chose to cancel it because of heavy competition, on top of bringing nothing new to the table.

On that note, has anyone tried using the Kotobukiya standalone Brave Girl's joints onto Brave Girl 2 just to equip the latter with armor parts from Koto's on-and-off Brave series model kits? I feel like someone has to make a custom featuring Mach Superion at this point, since we now have a second Brave Girl base body to utilize.

The delays are repeated problems with the molds from what I've read. They can't get a consistent quality output. There is no evidence that I have seen yet that they attribute to too much competition, especially with the market as hot as it is right now.

You just gotta know how to use the coupons and discounts.
    >>
    >>11917161
That's the fun part- you don't! Like other anon said, your only options are dye, which isn't always a viable option, and painting the joint while understanding it chipping is an inevitability (assuming you actually repose the kit instead of treating it like a statue). If you look at a professional's custom project upon completion, and then look at shots they take of it months down the line, you'll see their joints have chipped. It's, quite literally, an inevitability. It's why basically every single person that makes customs does their best to plan their customs around the joints of the kit specifically so they don't have to repaint them.

What I don't like is the construction of the arms and how easy it is for them to come apart.

They're perfect for that scale, though you might need extra hands but a few LA kits come with hands, also there is an extra set of hands for Kuon.

    >because the girls were legitimately embarrassed to be exposed like that
Lets not bullshit around, its just a feminist power grab and ugly girl insecurities being forced on the whole. Girls are the ones that intentionally roll up their skirts.
    >>
    >>11920604
    >Girls are the ones that intentionally roll up their skirts.
Them rolling up is a show of agency, which is a main feature of feminism. The other girls show agency by not rolling up. Choice is the whole point and everyone is better off for it. I know this basic lesson is lost in a thread where women are literally objects, but it should be said anyway.

    Hello girlpla people
shill me on Sousai Shoujo Teien
ive been collecting 30MS and Megami Device so far and have been curious on other lines
    >>
    >>11921062
If you've built Megami Device then you already have a good idea how Koto does kits. SST's subject matter is high school girls, so get used to building schoolgirl uniforms, cheerleader outfits and swimsuits. The accessory kits are just extra activity add-ons rather than stuff you attach to the girls, basic slice of life shit like karaoke machines, tables and chairs, water bottles, that sort of thing. There's also a series of dress-up bodies (different sizes and different skin colors for different body types) for giving them cloth clothing rather than rigid plastic skirts and such.
    >>
    >>11920604
it's okay, you can still be beautiful in safety shorts. you're not ugly just because you're insecure about feminism

You can get the original red Ninja, and her updated body separately. The newer body is called Ninja Kaname and she makes for a good first build.

There's definitely not. There are MSG kits to make the shoulders less bulky and the thighs more bulky and a bit more mobile, but the kits are fine without them. I think block 1 is still what you want if you're buying upgrade parts too; does anyone know offhand if that's changed and a bunch of stuff is available for Block 2 now? Not that there are many incompatibilities, I suppose.

Can anyone corroborate or share their experience?
    >>
    >>11924202
I have both. It's not "better" but it's good enough.
Someone in a previous plamo general shared stress test comparisons. In short: the God Hand beats the 3.0. By how much? Well, enough to make put my DSPIAE on gate cutting duty and use the God Hand only for nubs. And even then, I cut 1-2mm above the piece and then use a knife or go straight for the glass file, then do a nail pass, then sanding stick/sponge if necessary. I may paint it too.
So honestly? If you can afford the God Hand go for that one. If the price difference means getting another kit along with the DSPIAE then go for the kit and cut above the part like I do. I'm at that point where I'm dumping money on tools because my backlog is close to the 100 boxes, and past it if we count Warhammer. And I have a 3D printer in the mail.

I kinda went crazy and bought a shit ton of 30MS because I had a lot of custom ideas but everything is sitting unfinished because I just don’t care anymore and looking at them is making me sick… I want to go back to the time before I went down the rabbit hole and just have everything gone :\
    >>
    >>11925081
    >I want to go back to the time before I went down the rabbit hole
I think all of us share that lament. Every closet and cubby hole in my place if full of unbuilt kits, and all the shelves are full of built ones. I really should take all the unbuilt ones out and actually organize them. It would probably free up some space, but at the same time I don't really want to see my whole backlog in a single pile. And every month another box shows up with more. Long term I need to be way more selective about which I buy and which I skip, but that's difficult with more cool stuff coming out all the time and more players entering the space.
    >>
    >>11925136
I have been pretty good with the backlog and tried to build things as soon as they came in. So most of what I have is built at least, but missing decals and sanding and other such finishing touches and it all just sits in boxes instead of being displayed on shelves.

Also I was wondering do you guys collect other things too? I feel like I wouldn't feel as bad if girlpla was my only hobby but it's not even my focus so I feel like I foolishly have wasted a lot of money and space on something I'm not even all that passionate about.

Need some help finding vendors for girlpla stuff in the US. Up to now, I've used USAGS and Newtype for buying stuff stateside, and Ali for harder-to-find third-party things. But the listed stateside vendors seem to have spotty availability for what I want, and the only other vendor I've found (Gundam Planet) is like 10-15% more expensive and I have no idea if/when they ever offer discounts (compared to USAGS which regularly does 15-20% sales, so overall it's like 45% more expensive for the same thing).

Where does everyone here in the US buy their Koto stuff? I'm not exactly poor, but I also like saving money as much as the next person. If I have literally no other option than to wait for Koto to reprint and ship, I guess I could buy from more expensive vendors, but I want to explore my options first.

I think 60% humidity is the cutoff. As long as it isn't actively raining, you should be good enough. Barbatos Rex used to live in Florida, and he never had any issues with painting. Though in his case, he had a food dehydrator with multiple racks that allowed him to speed up his spoon painting videos. Depending on your needs, you probably don't need to buy one that costs $100, I know that in Japan they liked to use a particular dish dryer that was so dogshit at its job that it was perfect for drying painted parts.

    >>11928704
If you do, I would try to make a setup that lets you quickly put the pieces under cover immediately after spraying. While outdoors spraying eliminates the problem of lingering fumes, it also introduces the problem of errant dust particles carried by the wind, so you want a way to control your environment to a degree. Have something available to quickly protect the pieces from the wind but also sturdy enough that you can just pick it up and carry the entire thing indoors without any of the pieces falling off of the clips.

Tamiya spray paints are banned in my country because they have levels of VOCs above what can be sold here. I'm sure they give you cancer, too, everything does. They certainly smell like they'll mess you up, even when spraying outdoors. So assuming you can buy them, I'd go with a respirator.
    >>

You should really wear some kind of mask any time you're spraying. The "non-toxic" stuff can still put particles of paint in your lungs, and even if it's not made of anything particularly harmful you should avoid that when you can. Those fabric K/N95 masks will do plenty or you can probably even get away with a dusk mask, but you will want a full respirator with chemical filters for lacquers and enamels.

I wasn't interested in the Maos before (only got a Xiao because BIG birb), but the color scheme + jitome face makes her really beautiful. I'm getting one.

I've made one exception for Baselard. I doubt there will be another.

    >Why do I feel like I've read this exact same post before
I posted it way back when Gin Lang was revealed, only for me to remember that she uses the slightly larger Puni body. My disappointment was immeasurable.
    >>
Not a fan of the hip sub-assembly. It's one thin rod supporting the whole swing.
    >>
    >>11929891
The Chibi adventure squad also uses that type of construction.
I think I also encountered this construction in Sylphy, too.
It looks shoddy, but it holds well.
    >>
    >>11929891
If it breaks you can just replace it with a piece of the runner, so cut T shapes and keep them as insurance. Personally none of my megami skankies have broken that piece so far.
    >>
    >>11929708
Probably. I've got every other version of her and Tu, and she looks great in those pastel colors.
    >>
    >>11929741
Personally, I'm waiting for a color E S body so I can make similar to pic rel with a spare kuro Mao kit I have.
    >>11929759
The waiting is the hardest part. They just don't crank out the S bodies like they need to.
    >>
    >>11929891
Strarf a cute. She and Arnval both came out incredible - just a damn shame we'll never get any modernized versions of any of the other Shinki (though technically Mao and Lang are Maochao and Howling redux).

Koto is determined to drain my wallet yet again this week. https://x.com/SOUSAI_official/status/2114643204746412452

I wanted to get kuro but now i don't know if i should get her instead
    >>
    >>11929974
Now the big question: Is she wearing that the traditional way (i.e. no undergarments), or did they pussy out and cover her pussy?
    >>11930003
Get both. She's a fun kit regardless, but they both come with different skin tones and completely different faceplates, giving them drastically different personalities.

    >>11930016
Why would you think they would even entertain the thought?
    >>
    >>11930016
    >did they pussy out and cover her pussy?
Um, yeah? I assume they'll use the existing black thong from one of the previous versions of her (there's been so many I've lost track of what each one was called). Certainly looks like it in >>11930040. Only the very occasional chink kit has any attempt at pussy.
    >>
    >>11930040
Y'know, with those ears, I kinda want a matching black fox tail to slap onto her.

I'd absolutely adore an E color Puni S as well. I'm actually shocked they haven't had a full lineup of color A-E already. Granted, they probably already planned for it and want to intentionally spread things out, but still.

I have two maos. one used GK parts to become a cao. cute though this variant is, my last punimof will be the kirin. I'm sick of fighting the pelvis shell in assembly; three different lines of MD put clear bits on the side, but for some reason punimof alone insists on being obnoxious to assemble and I'm not entirely sure why.
a shame, I kinda like her related tu variant's colorscheme.
    >>11929712
muscuto fixes that. sometimes to a hilarious extent.
