Me, i wanna see how the JP horses do this time around, sad that like 3 Euro runners already confirmed they wont take on the BCT, usually its closer to a 2nd Japan Cup or L'arc when all the raiders are firing all cylinders (or..hoofs?)

The Breeders Cup is like a season closing championship for all racers in the US. Every distance and surface combo is done on it, from 1200 to 2400m and even with races exclusive for mares and 2 year old horses.
These are all the dates, for specific lineups you can check the Breeders Cup account on X. The prize money for all races is really good so there's quite a few JP/EU runners, specially for the BC Turf since it works as a "finishing" piece for the big money races at this stage of the year (The Arc de Triomphe, Japan Cup and Hong Kong Vase)

    >>158349167
From what I could gather, it's mostly left to the racing administration (like JRA) to govern that unless they actively start fucking around, then the international racing organization for that region (in this case, the Asian Racing Federation) uses whatever they have to directly control things (in this case the Asian Pattern Committee) to make things how they should be, ARF itself is directly linked to International Federation of Horseracing Authorities and those guys basically control all racing in the world (They and International Stud Book Committee jointly regulate the International Agreement for Breeding, Racing and Wagering, which sets the global standards and rules for the Thoroughbred industry)

none of that here bro, If the mating isn't done body to body and witnessed by people as such, then the resulting foal is not considered a thoroughbred and can't race in thoroughbred races
    >>
    >>158400396
I don't get why bulls get the name for cuckold relationships when it appears stallions are the real deal. Bulls just get released in the pen to impregnate any heifer, meanwhile, Stallions are watched mating.
    >>
    >>158400518
Because not all mares like all stallions, sometimes you need the assistance of a teaser stallion which is a horse that exists solely to wetten up a mare and go back to its stable to munch on grass.
Some mares have killed very valuable stallions because they did not want to be bred by them, Stay Gold, one of the most celebrated national stallions of Japan got traumatized by Point Flag, a grey mare who repeatedly kicked him every time they bred because she hated how short he was for a horse, which made Stay Gold afraid of grey horses.

    >>
    >>158431595
That doesn't mean there's a 100% chance the horse will win. It means if you bet $1 and the horse wins you get $2 back ($1 profit). The implied probability is 50%

    The formula is 1 divided by (the fractional odds plus 1), multiplied by 100 to give a percentage. e.g. fractional odds of 1 = (1 / ((1/1) + 1)) * 100 = 50%.

    >>158431613
    Yes you can
    >>
    >>158431660
    >That doesn't mean there's a 100% chance the horse will win.
That was not my implication, but odds of 1 felt off because from my understanding it just meant you bet $1 and got $1 back if the odds where 1, which would make the betting pointless since you would either get you money back or lose them, no gain whatsoever, but what you said here
    >It means if you bet $1 and the horse wins you get $2 back ($1 profit)
explained it. I just misunderstood how odds worked. In my mind your example would be with the odds of 2. Fractional odds were not a problem, or at least they made "some" sense even I calculated them wrong (4/5 shown meant you bet $4 and get $5 back if it wins from my understanding)

Here is the money pool, bear in mind the track deducts 16% for win bets. 84% =1,470,509
The winner gets their money back.
    1,470,509-
    709,211=
761,298 to distribute to the winner.
    761,298 / 709211 = 1.07
    2$ plus $2.14 + $4.14, the 2 dollar payoff.

I think the 3 year olds are dead money in this race. maybe they can pick up a podium piece, but the winner is going to be FY, KB, or Sov

Japan Cup is November 29th. It has big purse, often is rated among the highest races of the year and this year seems to have several strong global raiders.
    >>
    >>158436114
    It varies by country
Most people ignore AUS as they are really insular (me included, so idk if they have anything)
JP does not do festivals and instead has consecutive G1s every week (from today till the end of the year there is only 1 week without a JP G1 race)
Both US and Europe end their seasons around this time. There are still some races (including graded ones) but they don't really matter much and the nearest "important" race for both is next year
HK has a day with 4 G1s in December

is is there any actual anomaly with Forever Young's actual running that could be identified? The announcers could only just chalk it up to all that traveling finally catching up to him
    >>
    >>158436796
Sov has nothing left to prove, he's a double crown with the Derby as his first, won against all the top horses in the US at the Whitney and he now won the Classic beating the best dirt horse in the world after skipping it last year. Him retiring at 4 is actually justified specially with all the injuries he's picked up as early as 2 yo.
    >>158436808
His father was the complete opposite, a jobber that couldnt beat Kitasan or Duramente and had to run to Hong Kong to win a pity G1.

    I love the whiskers :3
    >>
    >>158436846
He looked stressed at the paddock with all the people surrounding him and Yahagi pointed out he didnt run well at the JCGC, he's also been training pretty much once every 3 days since the Gold Cup which may be a bit too much with a race as intensive as the Classic coming up
    >>158436853

    >>
    >>158436821
Yeah him being scratched last year sucked, especially when Journalism retired (from what I recall) and couldn't have a final face off.
    >>158436852
It's just something I find odd compared to local or JP racing, they let them run for longer before retiring unless there is something warranted like a potential injury or illness.
    >>
    >>158436846
to me it was similar how Dubai went but could be anything
    >>
    >>158436924
Journalism retired this year after the San Juan G3, Sierra Leone is the one who retired last year after the BCC
    >they let them run for longer before retiring
For really really great horses thats not always the case, half of the triple crowns retired at 4 and the other half at 5, most G1 winners do not race beyond 6 years old, stud potential value still defines the career of many horses over there but having a smaller G1 calendar makes most top horses in Japan race for a year or 2 longer than they would otherwise. The US has an insane number of G1s for 2 and 3 year olds whilst Japan has less than a dozen in comparison, and thats combining gendered and non gendered races.
