    Why do you exist?
    Because _____
    Why ______?
    Because of ___
    But why ___
    Because...

you dont. just keep following the cause and effect chain.
    >>
    >When do you stop infinite recursion?
When you accept circularity or settle down on some axioms
    >>
    >>17080518
Traditionally, when you get bored of recursion the great thinkers of history would decide the exact point they got frustrated is the point where religion is the answer. The "cause of stuff that I don't care to actually figure out" is God.

you get to the big bang which happened for no particular reason.
so you exist for no particular reason. but really you exist to slave away so rich people can eat kids. basically
    >but why
    they're deranged
    >but why
nature. they were abused or neglected and grew up with fucked up parents or friends
    >but why
    their parents fucked
    >but why
    mostly for pleasure
    >but why
selection, that's how we keep going
    >but why
    laws of nature I guess
    >but why
    univese exists?
    >but why
big bang. ah right. so basically no reason really
    >>
    >>17080518
When part of the answer has more time than we have.

jesus christ why are you bumping a thread about the toddler “why? why? why?” phenomenon. This is literally a toddler thread. Sage.

Let me guess, the frog bumpers are at it again. I used to like you frog guys but this is becoming just obviously disruptive and in bad faith at this point

Do you live without purpose? How sad.

    Theology > Science
    Scientists are monkeys pushing buttons
Priests are guiding and saving souls.

Because of the wonderful things he does.

Are you mentally retarded or something? The point of an infinite recursion is that it doesn't stop.
    >>
    >>17080518
You stop the recursion when the question becomes philosophically meaningless.
Ask yourself "What do I actually mean when I ask 'why X'? What could theoretically prove or disprove it?" if there is nothing that could satisfy that condition, the question is without any meaning as it has no truth claims.
"Why" in practice means: Produce an "If not X, then not Y" statement. The fundamental basis is unknowable, so reaching that ends the recursion.
    >Muh self-reference, bro! Muh math!
Claims are to be evaluated relative to their systems, the basis of which meanings which one is at liberty to accept or reject, though not without forfeiting the mutual intelligibility of language.

    >Ask yourself "What do I actually mean when I ask 'why X'?"
What I mean is that my knowledge is insufficient to determine that X must be the case. Insofar as it could have been not-X as far as I know, the circumstance of X is arbitrary and I wish to resolve this arbitrariness. Problem, soientist?

Shut up, chud. If the scientific experts can't answer a question, it's only because the question is inherently meaningless. Everything worth knowing is already known.
