Fuck chess
So much talent wasted on a stupid board game
>>
better be wasted on a stupid imageboard instead
>>
>>17078702
Correct, much energy is wasted here, as the game of chess is the only game where a chess game can have a million positions.
>>
>>17078724
A chess game is the only chess game that has as many positions as a chess game has.
>>
>>17078702
Without chess, those chess masters would have been nobodies. The existence of chess made their hidden skill come to light. Chess did that. A simple children’s game made them masters.
Amazing.
>>
>>17078702
theyre only talented at chess so
>>
>>17078993
Monumentally more fair
>>
>>17078702
We need chess with little hats for the knights. Any piece that plunders a little hat wears the little hat and can move as a knight!

>>17078702
so true he should've slaved away in academia instead

>So much talent wasted on a stupid board game
Then it's also true for all sports.
>>
>>17078997
I know you're joking but as an abstract game designer this is legitimately the bs you have to compete with.
>>
>>17079025
what abstract games have you designed

Slither
>>
>>17079102
He said “designed”, not “typed in from a magazine article”.

Battle Chess is your game, my friend.

you're right. we should be devoting a lot more energy towards helping the less fortunate. now THAT is a worthwhile investment!

chess it the type shit you do when you aint me
>>
>>17079120
why is it so hard to believe somebody who posts here made something of relative popularity?
>>
>>17079151
you're right, we should all be epic meme curators like you
>>
>>17078702
chess is only fun with randomisers according to Bobby, otherwise it's just boring.
>>
>>17079185
Bobby was talking about the highest levels of play, once all theory has been studied and memorized. If he were still alive he would have been drawn back in to complain about cheating jeets and schizopost about stockfish.

A lot of people project their own failures onto others. Unironically, there are plenty of successful, happy people here with nice families, but for some reason, many want to believe this place is just a gathering spot for bitter, lonely, balding Chuds.
>>
>>17079185
ain't his reason for the randomizer that opening theory is boring?
>>17079102
cool
>>17078702
what makes you think that chess talent is useful somewhere else?

>So much talent wasted on a stupid board game
What could he have done instead that would have allowed him to speak truth to power on the world stage like he did?
>>
>>17078702
With the exception of Fischer, every great chess player has been an idiot savant good only for chess.
>>
>>17079404
why with the exception of Fischer? Because he was redpilled about le jews like any retard on /pol/?
>>
>>17079180
You are not Steve Howse.
>>
>>17079518
wrong Slither. Slither.io isn't even an abstract game or board game at all.
>>
Patches, Trouble, and Sorry are all superior games.
>>
>>17078702
Supersymmetry is far worse a field, it absorbs tons of brigth people with a PhD into a career that ends into nothingness.
>>
>>17078770
A lot if it was hard work like in the case of Robert James Fischer.
You look at his earliest games he was not some great player at 11-12 and then he had a monstrous leap from 12-13 which is crazy. But he worked harder than anyone at the time.
I think if he had devoted himself to another endevour so wholeheartedly he would have had some sucess.
>>
>>17079404
There were many Chess players who were succesful in other areas, like Lasker, Botvinnik, Berliner, Von Oosterom, etc. If anything, Fischer was the idiot savant.
