Why do theoretical physicists take this crap seriously? "space has 11 dimension" "no space has 1 dimension that solves our problems"

you can easily start from a false premise and prove a true a false conclusion, mathematically. So why are people so quick to ignore the VERY OBVIOUS FACT that space has 3 dimensions???
>>
I think anyone who watches Sabine deserves to be burned on the stake
>>
>>17077420
Theoretical physics became a very shitty branch of pure mathematics decades ago when engineers stopped caring, ie, some time in the 50s e.g. bell labs cracking science.
>>
>>17077420
>mathematically
lol
>VERY OBVIOUS FACT that space has 3 dimensions???
ackshually, sweaty, anyons.
>>
>>17077421
amen, /sci/ster. i will watch more of the qualified PROFESSOR dave. stay strong in the face of this dangerous antiscience rhetoric. last time i watched a sabine video i quivered in my thigh high boots.
>>
>>17077427
If space has a trillion dimensions but it completely undetectable by anybody but me with a $1,000,000 grant am I a massive fucking faggot?
Yes, yes I am. Unless you are making a product, or have a proposal that multiple people can test it's not science.
>>
>>17077434
anyons do not have a trillion dimensions. they also do not exist in three dimensions.
>>
>>17077428
No. I actually studied quantum mechanics in university, I don't need to watch any popsci.
>>
>>17077437
>I actually studied quantum mechanics in university
Any person with a physics degree can spot this bullshit from a mile away. You can hate Sabine. That's fine. But quit your bullshit. If your goal is to deradicalize the types of people who watch Sabine, do it without lying.
>>
>>17077438
QM is a standard undergrad physics course. What exactly is supposedly bullshit about saying I studied it in university? Schizo-tier mind reading.
>>
>>17077443
Nobody says "I studied [x]" to mean "I took a singular course" in university. That's like saying "I studied architecture" despite taking one course and knowing jack shit about it. Quantum mechanics is an upper level undergraduate course taken exclusively by physics majors. No physics major would say "I studied quantum mechanics in university". His experience in the discipline is implied by communicating having a physics degree.

This sounds more like you're some kind of philfag major, history major, or some other bullshit degree path where you had a brief unit on quantum mechanics devoid of any formalism or physical rigor. You're a liar, plain and simple.
>>
>>17077448
I took multiple university courses in QM. I never claimed to have a physics degree. QM isn't exclusive to physics majors. You're just making shit up.
>>
>>17077438
> "radicals"
sabine is just a science conservative vs the trust the experts crowd, the crowd that is curiously only loud when said flock of experts agree on something well outside their expertise.
>>
>>17077450
>I took multiple university courses in QM
Hmmm.
>I never claimed to have a physics degree
It's obvious you don't.
>QM isn't exclusive to physics majors.
HMMMMMM

Go ahead. Tell us what degree you have. Tell us what the multiple courses were meant to cover. This is going to get funny. Notwithstanding, you said this before
>>17077443
>QM is a standard undergrad physics course

Yet, now you're claiming you took multiple courses in QM for a degree path that ISN'T physics. The lie is becoming clearer.
>>
>>17077454
The only lie here is you aren't defending Sabine. You are.
>>
>>17077454
Owned that fraud lol
>>
>>17077453
A science conservative cannot be a superdeterminist. Superdeterminism is marxist in origin.
>>
>>17077454
Why the fuck would I dox myself?
>>
>>17077462
she said superdeterminist OR hidden variables, which I guess would again delay the superdeterminism question
>>
>>17077464
Stating your major is not doxxing yourself.
Stating classes you took is not doxxing yourself.
I'll demonstrate.
I majored in physics. I took QM 1 & 2 as an undergrad using Griffiths. I took QM 1 & 2 as a graduate using Sakurai.
Ohnoes! Not the heckin doxxerino please don't drop my address senpai.

Unless perhaps your alleged QM courses were so hyper specialized to your specific university and degree path that stating the simple course you took is doxxing yourself, which only proves what a joke your alleged education here is.
>>
>>17077465
I assume by hidden variables she means non-local hidden variables.
So she's either a superdeterminist or a pilot waver. Both are extremely marxist, pilot wave more so, since Bohm himself is a marxist and created his interpretation based on marxist philosophy.
>>
>>17077470
right I forgot that part! non-local HV or superdetminism.

What does "teleportation" have to do with marxism? besides I don't think she believes in that
>>
>>17077420
It's not an OBVIOUS FACT that you actually need 3 dimensions to express fundamental physics. Sometimes you have data that's laid out in 3 dimensions due to the way it was measured, but then you work out the pattern behind it and find that the same data can be expressed in fewer dimensions, meaning what you assumed to be 3 independent axes actually represent correlated aspects of reality. So your original data has a 3D representation, but you can get a deeper and more fundamental view of your observations by reframing them in a lower-dimensional space that implicitly integrates some of the constraints of the underlying pattern.

Now, I don't know if any of this happens to be true of literal space. I'm not defending this week's crackpot physics. I'm just saying it's not inconceivable. After all, what are the laws of physics if not constraints on how matter gets arranged in space? If FEELS like you could have a particle at any given point in space at least in principle, or scatter them around randomly across all 3 dimensions, which would mean the normal spatial dimensions are truly independent and necessary. But you're not God. You can't put stuff wherever you like. Any process that puts anything anywhere is subject to physics and matter gets distributed in space in a specific pattern. Maybe that pattern is such that matter only covers one fundamental dimension's worth.

But the OBVIOUS FACT is that you're watching pop-sci slop, which intentionally conflates "space" as in the range of some abstract mathematical variable, with "space" as in how a human's sense data is laid out, making it sound like the latter has two fictional dimensions. The way the human body measures its environment, you get a 3D picture. Evidently, the patterns living organisms actually care about (which aren't necessarily the ones theoretical physicists care about) are much easier to pick up on in a 3D representation. I don't think that's under dispute.
>>
>>17077504
GPS is somehow also just as limited as the human body conicidentaly, and the MATHEMTICAL FACT that planets can't even form in any dimensions under THIS and LITERALLY EVERY OTHER THEORY. Why even publish DOGSHIT about dimensions WE CAN'T MEASURE. It's not fundamental physics it's pure math they are slapping that label on because they work in a physics department.

It is literally inconceiveable, there are 3 dimensions up-down, forward-back, left-right. That's how reality works buddy wake up and get out of those books they are bad for your brain. Going "well maybe ninininini", you might as well dedicate your life to god because of pascals wager
>>
>>17077510
>planets can't even form
Planetary Orbits*
>>
>>17077420
for the same reason that ignoring the OBVIOUS FACT that earth is immobile with the universe revolving around it led to great progress later
turns out some OBVIOUS FACTS are false
like for thousands of years people thought that heavier objects fall down faster, until galileo checked it

if Marxism isn't a generally accurate account of socioeconomic relations, why is the billionaire class finding it so effective to apply inverted Marxism?

Marxism: "The bourgeois maintain power by distracting and dividing the working class, derailing the formation of class consciousness."

Billionaires: Wow looks like we need to triple and quadruple down on doing that!
