After like 10 years of avoiding videogames because I believed someone who told me they're for losers, I picked one up with the intention of just playing it for fun. Not just to be in the know. And boy oh boy it was so exhilarating. Holy shit, I haven't felt this good in years.

I haven't played Final Fantasy, I've also heard that this is the lesser good title in the franchise, but I like it.

Am I to believe you have also avoided doing other basic common activities because of what one person said about them?
>>

Shit, good point. Maybe? Yeah, my father once told me Taekwondo is for psychos and soon afterward I stopped, though I thought I stopped because I got tired of it... Shit, what other things did I believe without questioning? AAAAAAAAA

Those are different. FIFA and Call of Duty are based in reality (no dragons and stuff), are competitive so they can compete with their bros (prove who is better than the other), and are easy to pick up and play (don't need to waste time learning systems). All things normies love

video games are for losers

Your fortune: Reply hazy, try again
>>
>>13252707
At the end of the day, you should do things because you enjoy them and not worry about how it makes people perceive you (of course there are limits to this)
>>
>>13251616
you're a loser OP for being so being so weak willed that can you be so easily influenced by another person
you sound like someone who's easily influenced by propaganda and unable to formulate his own opinion

Your fortune: キタ━━━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━━━ !!!!

>>
>>13252705
War games are only fun because of the shoot gun and kill people aspect of it
>>
>>13251616
Then you wake up 10 years from now and realized you wasted the decade on something completely useless and meaningless.
>>
>>13252741
You're just a psychopath
>>
>>13252750
We need useless and meaningless things in our lives. Not everything needs to serve a purpose, it's important to just have fun too, you know
>>
>>13252758
If meaningful things aren't fun for you, you need to do some soul searching
>>
>>13252770
Trust me, I'm a big self-improover and one thing I learned that you can't have constant progression all the time. Too much of a good thing can be bad for you, too. Everything in moderation anon
>>
>>13252775
When did I say anything about "progression"? Protecting what you have is more important than progression. Video games take your time which is the one thing you can't get back after you've lost it.
>>
>>13252750
yes because americans are so thick that they treat leisure like something useless
that's right you should grind at work at 16 hours a day for the glory of your employer like a sigma male that you are
>>13252770
How do you even define "meaningful" things
>>
>>13252782
Anything that enables you to take care of yourself, or protects you against things that would threaten that
>inb4 "im a nihilist and nothing is meaningful to me"
ok just be helpless then
>>
>>13252780
In that case, playing a video game in order to unwind is no different from reading a book, watching television, or hell even posting on 4chan. It's all meaningless and useless things we do to kill time and distract ourselves, and we do them because they're fun. In a way, if it's meant to be a form of relaxation, I wouldn't even consider them meaningless or useless. It's overconsumption that's the problem. If you're playing video games as a means of escape from your responsibilities and the things you should be doing, then you need to reconsider how you spend your time I think

>is no different from reading a book, watching television, or hell even posting on 4chan

The difference is that video games have absolutely no redeeming qualities. I post on 4chan because I enjoy it, but also because I've had a lot of intellectually stimulating discussions here that have help expand my views on things. It's not just /b/ shitposting.

Video games are just a time sink and in the age of microtransactions are engineered to suck up as much of your time as humanly possible. You can do what you want with your life of course, but don't expect anyone to feel bad for you for having wasted your life on something that has absolutely no applicability to the real world. In the age of AI upending the global economy, it will start to matter a lot how you're positioned.
>>
>>13251616
that's so incredibly otaku :3

>The difference is that video games have absolutely no redeeming qualities.
>Video games are just a time sink and in the age of microtransactions are engineered to suck up as much of your time as humanly possible.
If you grew up playing video games exclusively made past 2010, sure. You could always, y'know, not play modern video games/be selective with the games you play. It sounds like you have a problem managing your time when it comes to video games, which is more of you a problem. Like reading or watching TV, video games are just another method of storytelling (granted you're playing the right games). What redeeming qualities do reading and watching TV have that video games lack? They're equally as much of a time sink if not more.

>but don't expect anyone to feel bad for you for having wasted your life on something that has absolutely no applicability to the real world.
Again, if you're playing video games as a means of escape from your responsibilities and the things you should be doing, then you need to reconsider how you spend your time I think
>>

>>inb4 "im a nihilist and nothing is meaningful to me"
No that is literally something someone like an american like you would say
You've said nothing but vague buzzwords without much cohesion
I still don't understand why appreciation of art and human creativity would be useless and meaningless unless you're reducing human life to a cog in a machine who's only role is to work because any other activities are a waste of time
I'm so tired of americans popularizing destructive ideas like that
>>
>>13251616
gaming is for losers though. but the thing is what games you play and how much and if you do it as a substitute for dealing with the real world because youre afraid of girls.
>>
>>13252544
I haven't ? Maybe I should

>>13252607
>>13252695
