have you ever learned a second language? (or third, if you learned english as your second, because english doesnt count)

>>85864707>hugs you for no specific reason
>>85864644>what is the fourth oneFrench, unfortunately when I tried to see how people talk casually there's lots of Arabic loanwords which I don't intend to learn..
>>85864425Learnt enough to become fluent? Nah. Have tried to learn Spanish, Finnish, French and Nipponese. Vaguely conversant in Nip, can read a bit of Nip and Spanish, can't really speak spanish much though, and only know a tourist amount of Finnish. French we learnt at school, so I can still understand the written form, and know basic vocabulary. Other romance languages follow suit, they're quite easy to read/decipher once you know one of them. Speaking is an entirely other beast. I know a bit of Latin as well as i'm a Romeaboo. I used to enjoy learning languages in my youth, but like another anon here has said, they don't stick mainly because I have very poor intrinsic motivation, unless there's some external pressure to learn (e.g. school tests). I'd enjoy spending some more time in Finland some day, so maybe learning more than just 'perkele' and 'yksi kahvi kiitos' would be useful.
>japanese I learned it for fun and for traveling in japan>russianI learned some because of a russian speaking woman I like but we no longer see eachother so I stopped because it makes me sad>FrenchLearned this in school because Spanish class was full of spics
I spent 2 consecutive years living in Quebec/France. I sound like a retard, but I got good enough at it that by the end I had a Russian pal where we could just speak basic heavily accented French to each other and understand everything because I didn't speak Russian and he didn't speak English.
>>85864425Mandarin Kind of interested in KoreanI want to work as an English teacher in Yanbian and be able to practice my Mandarin and Korean simultaneously. Someday I want to familiarize myself with Cantonese and Japanese, and maybe Vietnamese.
>>85864425I tried learning spanish but failed the exam and have not bothered to learn anymore since.
