I had an epiphany today, and I have no idea where to go from here. >Be me>30-something oldman>Diagnosed as autistic last year as suspecting it my whole life>Come to terms with limitations and start to thrive a bit within my little box>Friends drift away slowly>One has kids now and doesn't play vidya anymore>Other got fancy new job and doesn't reply to messages from any of our group>Lament losing friends over and over as years go on>Realize that they're not changing, I'm staying the same>Rigidity of autism has made me happy with things and no need to chase novelty for novelty's sake, just to enjoy myself>It's not that they're drifting, they were always moving forward, I just never budged>Always been happy to play games, do hobbies, and spend time with my dogs after work>Friends did the same until they started having kids and such>Now they have wives, kids, and other parent-friends>No time for vidya or Magic cards>Unsure how to cope with this besides maybe finding autist friends?
>>85863626Why would you need a cope? Aren't you satisfied with your games, hobbies, and dogs?
>>85863626Negative demoralization narrative.
>>85863670That's actually a good point, now that I think about it. I think the desire for cope comes from loneliness? I love my hobbies and pets and have good days most days, but I look back on laughing with my homies and I miss it. That might just be nostalgia, though? >>85863675I don't know what those words mean, I'm sorry.
You solved your own question, you need autist friends. You just don't like change to your routine to go to the local LGS to find them
>>85863702Fuck. Maybe I'll ask my fellow autists on the fortnite general if they wanna play with me.
