>In WW2 multiple US soldiers killed Italian POW's on mass, in two instances shooting 30+ with their submachine guns. None of these soldiers were punished, one said he was just "following orders" which was considered a fair reason and they either died in the war or went to live free lives. These instances were completely covered up by the US as not to cause their own POW's to be treated the same way and not to cause public outrage. A lot of Italian soldiers didn't want to fight and would simply surrender to the first American they saw.
>>85862597If you're talking about the Biscari massacre, they didn't totally cover it up. They tried both of the guys directly responsible and sentenced them, but later granted them clemency for the usual bullshit reasons. As for an explanation, who needs one? Give a certain kind of man a gun and he'll find a way to use it no matter what the circumstances are.
