My parents have never been particularly happy people, but it has gotten so much worse lately.

>After my maternal grandmother died in 2022, it destroyed my mom. She is a nurse, but she fell into a substance abuse cycle that she is still in. Stimulants and Xanax, as well as Benzos from my understanding.

>My father lost his job, because of me. I was up late one night, and he wanted me to wake him up for work at 6 because he is always so exhausted that he can't wake up. I was up at 5, but very tired, so I slept thinking he would be pissed if I awoke him earlier. He got fired.

>My little brother was getting bullied at school, and he is now in online school. I try to talk to him, but he wants to deal with it alone like I did at his age.

>I graduated with my associates from HS, but I am working a dead end job at Costco while waiting to get my license and try to go to trade school, because IT is inviable.

My parents now do nothing but sleep and fight (violently, at times, as they have my whole life). We filed for bankruptcy due to crippling debt and the loss of my dad's income. I try to help out as much as I can, but I can barely get out of bed, I am so exhausted and I am working so much. When my parents are fighting, I try to get my little brother to hang out with me in my room, but he just deals with it like I did at 12.

I feel so fucking cooked and broken at 18. I used to be gifted, and want to actually do something with my life. I want to get out of this, but it is so fucking exhausting everyday.

Sorry to be a ventfag, just want to get it off my chest.

I was in similar circumstances after my dad died
As long as you continue earning and getting an education you'll be fine, assuming your dad doesn't kill your mom

Always rough to see the child of parents who shouldn't have got the parenting license. Fucked homes, I can relate somewhat. I would recommend not running away in a permanent way, but go on a vacation without asking permission, live in your car, let them know you'll be back and then don't stay back long. Let them get used the fact you're not a present member of the house. If you can't find anything better just do Doordash and make a profit until you can. Because that is just a poisonous situation you have to GET OUT FROM. It's not worse to live on the road, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Ignore at your own risk, better to do this at 18 than at 23 when you realize I'm definitely definitely right.

>as long as your dad doesn't kill your mom

You are joking, but as a child I was super worried about this lmfao.

The only education I can afford is tradeschool, wanted to do college but because my mom is a nurse I do not qualify for financial assistance.

I wasn't joking
>I do not qualify for financial assistance.
RIP
If you go into trades and save up you can get an education later in life

I used to fantasize about running away, but I am staying for my brother. He is a smart kid, I do not want him to end up like me. I will do everything in my power to make sure he is able to go to college even if I hate my fucking life.

You are right though, it is a cancerous situation, but my priority is at least helping my brother and making enough money to try and keep things afloat. The advice is appreciated, though, and it is valid.

My mother has openly expressed desire to die many times in my childhood. She also admitted she regrets having children. It's been like this my whole life, just endless complain. My dad doesn't say shit but he has always been sad and lethargic and he hates living just as much so he copes with workaholism and when he gets to rest he literally just stares at a wall all day. They probably got together on the basis of relating to each others persistent desire to not exist.
I have no idea how I was supposed to grow up normal in such a household. There is no violence nor poverty, but there is no life either.

I feel like you'd probably be better equipped to help your brother with a clear head from removing yourself from the situation for a while.
