>been working on city builder as a solo dev NEET for almost 2 years >urban planner youtuber who I've been following comes out with a game he vibe coded in 3 weeks>he's not even a software dev>just screenshots the game, sends it as feedback to Claude, and it fixes it>during his livestream, he spots a water glitch, sends it to clause and laughs that it will probably get fixed by the time the stream is overI don't feel so good. I feel like all my hard work is a joke. It can be vibe slopped in 2 weeks.I wasted 2 years of my life on a project that gave my life meaning.I wanted to earn from this project so i could work on my next projects. It increasingly looks like i won't even recoup the Steam vendor page tax of $100. It looks like i might actually finally kms. I haven't felt this hopeless and depressed in my life.
Whatever is on your picture looks really ugly and I wouldnt buy it at a gunpoint.Making a game that will really hit people is not technical, you need to have artistic eye and vision for it to work. People who focus on coding can rarely get anywhere.
>>85857685if i can have a recommendation, anon, as a city builder playerplease make your game have a good campaign. the mechanics don't matter to me as much as cool missions and a story. a lot of indies dont do the campaign and its a big mistake.
>>85857685why dont you just use claude to make it better than his
>>85857725I'll keep that in mind. I want my demo to already have a choice and face the consequences. You will get that if i don't kys until then.
>>85857735I am already using ai to help (gemini). But my 11yo pc can't handle Codex and i can't afford $200 a month anyway as a neet for the full agentic ai shit.
Wait until you see what the solo dev of Metropolis 1998 is doing, he's basically recreating Sim City 4 and it doesn't look like shit like City Skylines, it looks like an actual game from 98 and he wasn't using AI, but he might be now, who knows, the game is taking forever to come out.Do you think there is gonna be a badge of honor and a trophy waiting for you if people discover you didn't use AI tools for anything?? If you can't beat em, join em.
>>85857685Don't worry OP. I'm also a game dev and one thing AI can never replicate (so far anyways) is the overall polished experience you get when an actual competent human makes a game. Don't lose hope lil nigga
>>85857840Thanks for the kind words. I definitely need to speed up development and stop getting bogged down on small details like switch button design.. And good luck to you too
