Why aren't you a third shift security guard?
>Quiet
>Alone most of the time
>Easy commutes
>You get to keep your fucked up robot schedule
>Pays decently ok
and most importantly
>You do absolutely nothing
>No experience of training needed

There's license requirement in nyc, can't afford security licensing money. Asked parent after failing to get a job for years, they wouldn't let me because it'd lower their izzat. At this point they might give me if I ask but there's implicit agreement of claim to part of my income feels gross and I wouldn't be able to move out on the income, I'd rather not.
>>
>>85852948
that's fucked up, in my state it was not even $30 and the company that hired me did all the paperwork
>>
>>85852934
That's what im trying to do. I worked night shift as a security guard before but had to shift jobs due to circumstances.
Anyways, those jobs were super comfy. It was at an industrial place and all I had to do was stay in this room locked behind a massive door protected by a code, with AC, big desk, kitchen and bathroom and look at the cctv cameras on the pc and call the cops if something happened, which never did.

Id get there at midnight, set things up, play some vidya, read, watch movies etc and then fuck off at 8AM before the first workers even arrived.
>>
>>85852934
My uncle was one. I remember everyone yelling at him to get a real job and calling him a loser.
>>
>>85852934
you forgot
>1 opening per city per year
>they will preferentially hire former cops, veterans, or anything over some random guy
>jobs get filled via recommendation and connections as always
>even if you get past all of that nobody wants to hire an out of shape manlet nerd with a squeaky voice to be a "security guard"
>>
The only problem with it is you have to deal with people who you would normally 180 away from and walk away. Bums, prostitutes, pimps, nigs, immigrants, monkeys, crack heads, mentally ill people, karens, all the lowest dredges of society and if you lapse at your job you look really bad to everyone around you lol.
When I worked at places that had security, they literally did nothing but talk to prostitutes. I'm in Vegas.
Being security at a weed shop seems chill though since you get to sit inside and people aren't allowed to loiter in them.
>>
>>85854582
Hey, man, where do you live? Have you ever been to Vegas?
>>
>>85854607
I posted that im in Vegas in the post, maybe try reading it.
>>
>>85854681
No way, man, really? I had no idea someone on /r9k/ was posting from the Las Vegas. That's wild.

Former Security guard here (Door Supervisor)

>Why aren't you a third shift security guard?
Those shifts are some of the hardest to land, it's almost as if there's a bunch of people telling people about it
>>Quiet
>>Alone most of the time
True
>>Easy commutes
Depends, there's a good chance all public transport has stopped running by then. Better have your own transport
>>You get to keep your fucked up robot schedule
That's not a good thing. most of these shifts are 4 days of 12 hour shifts. Have fun with your 2-4 hours of free time
>>Pays decently ok
True
>>You do absolutely nothing
Depends, you'll need to do hourly patrols and reports, but yes for the most part it's a lot of sitting around and listening to music
>>No experience of training needed
You need a security licence, at least in the uk, with a renewal every 5 years, which needs 1-4 weeks training, depending on level of licence. Unless you mean you dont need a degree to get the licence in which case, true, provided you can pass a basic numeracy and literacy test
>It's a career made for us
If you can land one that isn't hard to commute to but most of the time night shifts rotate out. Security is very chaotic with shifts. Most are a first come first served type shit. This week you may be working nights, next week you might have to work sporting events and clubs, which are full of loud drunken people and you have to stand around for hours. have fun not getting overstimulated, aspie lol (that's why I stopped)
>>85853735
if you're lucky you can get a sponsor but most of the time you pay for it yourself
>>85854540

True. i've never questioned my own species more than when i was around these "people". Not good when you detest your own clientele
>>
>>85854798
okay then..? i guess you got me, good one bro. (take meds now)

>>85854803
prostitutes not so bad, but the bums, fuckkkk.
>>
>>85854828
You're really stupid, so you don't seem to notice that I'm bullying you for repeatedly announcing that you live in one of the shittiest cities in the US, when it's completely irrelevant, because you're such a fucking nigger you think it's prestigious.
>>
>>85854828
Druggies aren't so bad either. Most are just on a nice buzz, not scratching their arm and begging for money. Still have to throw them out though but so far they have been reasonable. More reasonable than drunks and potheads even. I guess everything is just chill when you take crack
>>
>>85852934
Comfiest job I ever had. Pay is shit tho. You can make more as a janitor.
>>
>>85854869
Since when? Security work is usually 15 per hour in the UK. Janitor is minimum wage (12) and most Janitor shifts are like 1-2 hours
>>
>>85852934
It sounds comfy but I wouldn't want to real with the occasional deranged bums or chase urban explorers through an abandoned building.
>>
>>85854915
I guess it really depends. Both vary quite a bit, but at the same facility janitorial and security typically make a similar amount of money.
>>
I work for an unarmed contractor in a state where you don't need a license. Pretty comfy ngl I'm sitting in a gatehouse on top of a mountain in the dark, nothing ever happens at this one. It's basically an empty lot where methheads allegedly used to party but they don't anymore. The worst sites are the ones with customers, tenants and shit who expect you to run random errands and chase bums away all night even if they're just minding their business
>>
>>85854803
>in the uk
And just like that, the entire post can be safely ignored.
>>
i was a security guard for 3 months. i got to drive a golf cart which was fun. this was in 2009... i bought a huge ass bong with my first paycheck. honestly young people shouldn't be doing a job like that
>>
>>85855326
no one should be doing a job like that. most places barely offer 10/hour for unarmed security. let those cheap businessed get their windows broken
>>
Used to, but decided to be a night shift tard wrangler. You deal with even less and the most you do is change their diapers. They're all bed/wheelchair bound in my assigned home. They're not even verbal except for grunts and stuff. The only drawback is it's less pay of being a security guard, but I can just work an extra 12 hour shift to make that up (so 5 days a week instead of 4) so the other part time midnight shift worker can work one less shift. I do the same crap anyway: bring tablet to read, play emulators, and watch tv shows or movies.
