To people who have an identity, what is it like?

Do you act like an actor in a movie and try to come up with the thing you need to do based on your identity?

Identity is a lie , we are animals , our thoughts are exclusively tied to our experiences , everything we claim to have a relationship with are something we encountered in some way .
Identity would have been something you are born with if it was real.

I'm just "me", and I try my best to be consistent

yeah basically
i have a superego which i've decided to try to embody

So you have a sort of image of a character in your mind you view as a role model, and you try to act like this character would have?
>>
In order to have an identity you need to have something or someone to identify with so wouldnt that mean that everyone that identifies with something is an npc without a real identity
>>
>>85852784
yeah, i guess so.
we already established you have to act if you have an identity, so it's not real.
>>
>>85852765
yeah. it's more or less an amalgamation of different characters from fiction that I admire jammed into one personality construct.

if it's a larp, then it's not your identity.

That could very well be. I'm INTP, and I have no interest in having an identity. And I especially have no interest in having any of the types of identities that everyone talks about so much, like gender, race, religion, political party affiliation, and so forth.

Some people claim that I must have "identities", but all my "identities" are just basic facts about myself that I have no emotional investment in. For example, it's a fact that I reside in the USA, but I have no emotional investment in that fact -- and if I moved to another country, my change in national identity would have zero impact on me emotionally. It would be as trivial to me as changing the color of my shirt.
