    Welcome all.

This is a D20 based, RPG-lite Destiny\Mass Effect crossover Quest.

You will have specific skills and specialisations that effect what you can do and how you do them.

Rolls are best of three and much like Pokemon Trainer Quest you have a once-per-thread reroll you can use for anything. You can gain rerolls for specific checks through Specialisations.

With these basic questions out of the way, let's build us a character. To start with:

    >Are you Male or Female?

    >Male

    >Male

    >Destiny\Mass Effect crossover
Weird idea for a quest. Wouldn't literally everyone in ME including the Reapers just be utterly fucked?

    >Male

    >>6479931
    >>6479932

    >Human

You are human. A child of Earth. Made in the image of an ancient and now barely remembered God. You were raised in the ruins of an ossuary and picked your way through the ruins of a town, before your Ghost found a relay through which they contacted the Last City and you were brought into the fold. [Quality: Holy Warrior] (Start with any three combat skills and the Scrounger and Craft Specialist skills. In addition, gain a small, variable bonus to interacting with other people.)

    >Exo

You are Exo. A creation out of the Golden Age of Humanity, meant to be the immortal future of the children of Earth. You were raised in the ruins of Eventide on Europa and repaired a derelict jumpship with scraps you scavenged in the silent, vex-haunted ruins before you escaped that frozen tomb to the Last City of Earth. [Quality: Shipwright] (Start with a large Europan Cutter-class ship modified for longer range, longer journeys and comfortable living quarters for up to six occupants. Start with the Mechanics Skill amd Engineering Specialisation and gain a bonus to salvage, modify, repair design or build ships.)

    >Awoken

You are Awoken. Twice-riven child of Starlight and the Dark, once bound in fealty to the Queen of the Reef, Mara Sov. You were raised aboard the ruined hulk of one of the Queen’s ketches within the debris field surrounding Oryx’s dreadnought and with your Ghost’s help you scavenged enough debris to fabricate a ship you used to escape the silent grave of the Awoken fleet and escape to the Last City of Earth. [Quality: Voidborne] (Start with a Ceres Galliot-class Reef Fighter. In addition, start with the EVA Specialist Skill and gain additional bonuses when fighting aboard ships, operating in low-gravity environments and ignore fear checks if something goes wrong during EVA.)

    >>6479932

If this were a case of putting them side by side? Unquestionably. But a single Guardian is still sufficiently limited to keep things interesting.
    >>
    >>6479934
    >Exo
I REALLY want to vote for human just because I think it'd make the Council shit themselves and cause turians and batarians everywhere to seethe, but an exo guardian in Mass Effect could be a bit more interesting.

    >But a single Guardian is still sufficiently limited to keep things interesting.
Fair enough. Don't need to worry about Taken Reapers then.
    >>
    >>6479934
    >Exo

Let's build a Big Fuckin Spaceship
    >>
    >>6479949
    >>6479944

    Exo takes it.

    Now, what class are you?

    >Titan

You are a Titan. A bulwark against the terror. The wall between humanity and the Darkness, as unflinching in defense as you are unrelenting on the attack. Your fists are all the weapon you need in a pinch, but the Light certainly doesn’t hurt. [Quality: Indomitable] (You are immune to the effects of fear in combat, take less damage and inspire others with your presence. You are psychologically resilient and people find you surprisingly well-adjusted when talking to you. You have the Defense and Melee Combat Specialisations and a small passive bonus to the Charm, Persuade and Discipline Skills.)

    >Hunter

You are a Hunter. A restless, contrarian wanderer and ever-curious thrill-seeker, as at home in wild places by a fire as you are in the shittiest dive bar you can find in the City. You don’t have time for bureaucracy, or paperwork, or procedure. With the Light in your hands and ammo in your gun, that’s all you need to solve the City’s problems. [Quality: Pioneer] (You have a passive bonus to Stealth and Survival Skills and the Scrounging Specialisation in wilderness environments, ruins and away from civilisation and can create functional shelters without needing to roll for them.)

    >Warlock

You are a Warlock. The wise one. The teacher and the scholar. Ever-patient, but often unappreciated. Where others charge in, you watch, study and find the ideal solution, even when others accuse you of wasting time. You study the Light as a force as much as you wield it as a weapon against the City’s enemies. [Quality: Insightful] (You have a passive bonus to Perception and Knowledge, start with the Research Specialisation and can spend a round in combat studying your enemies to identify their weaknesses or look for an advantage.)

    >>
    >>6479962
    >Warlock

    Warlock it is.

Now, when were you raised? This will determine how skilled you are, but keep in mind, the further back in the timeline you come from, the more cynical you'll be and the more desensitised to death and violence and the more likely you'll be to do, shall we say, 'socially unacceptable' things like taking suicidal jumps out into space rather than take the stairs.

    >You were raised shortly after the completion of the Last City and the Battle of Six Fronts.
    >You were raised shortly after the Battle of Twilight Gap.
    >You were raised shortly after the Great Disaster.
    >You were raised after the Heart of the Black Garden was ripped out.
    >You were raised during the Taken War.
    >You were raised during the Siva Crisis.

    >You were raised after the Hive built the Scarlet Keep.
    >You were raised after the Darkness returned.
    >You narrowly escaped the Lucent Brood with your new life.

    >You were raised after the Witness’s defeat.
    >You were raised after III’s death.
    >>

I can only imagine this would have been an incredibly hectic time to be a new Guardian, but it would also be hilarious, so...
    >>
    >>6480138
    >You were raised shortly after the completion of the Last City and the Battle of Six Fronts.
A survivor of the late Dark Age period. Might have even had a short career as a minor warlord before joining the Guardians.

Red War or maybe even Taken War would be good too though. Old enough to be an unhinged freak, young enough to not be too weighed down by the past.
    >>
    >>6480138
    >You were raised shortly after the completion of the Last City and the Battle of Six Fronts.
Lets take this Guardian and make him a completely unhinged version of a full Renegade Shepard. It'll be fun, trust me.

    You are ancient.

You were raised shortly after the city was completed, back when the Fallen were ascendant. It was a nasty business, fighting their salvage teams and Vex for scraps while you rebuilt the wrecked supply ship that became your Cutter.

And then, you returned to an Earth fresh from the Collapse. Of course, in those days, the City was new and more rumor than not and you having missed most of the commotion between the Iron Lords and Warlords, you struck out on your own, gathered survivors and formed a small settlement under your protection while you tried to make sense of just what the hell happened and why the world was in the state it was in, as well as what these 'spider pirates' as you called the Fallen then were, as well as the nature of the Vex.

You made it a couple of years before a patrol from the nascent Vanguard contacted you and confirmed the City was, in fact, more than a rumor and they had, in fact, seen off an attempt by the Fallen to do them in.

So, you loaded up all the people and supplies from your little settlement you could into your Cutter and took them north east, across the Atlantic to where the Traveler hung in the arms of the Ural Mountains and sure enough, beneath it you found the Last City.

It's hardly been boring in the centuries since, what with Osiris's stint as Commander of the Vanguard, the Great Disaster, the Cabal coming in and then some upstart fresh out of the grave showing up and turning everything upside down in the space of a decade, but now you're starting to feel a little restless in the wake of the destruction of Nightfall Station...

But that's getting a little ahead of things.

That is the broad overview of your life, but it's hardly the sum total of who you are.

Why, there's so much more about you. For instance...

    >You are called…
    >You have a keepsake from where you were raised. It is…
    >Your most treasured weapon is…
    >You call your Ghost…
    >When you explore, you are often accompanied by…
    >Your preferred weapons are… (Pick one from each category, or a Set like Hakke, Omolon or Suros)
    >You have a habit of, among other things...
    >Write ins

Rapid fire round. Depending, these could go to their own first-in votes if there's no consensus, but I figured it'd be more interesting to give prompts, rather than options for this.

disregard "life" as something valuable. Well, for the others. We're heavily desensitived after seeing countless close ones, lovers, friends, then acquaintances or employers die gruesomely.

In-depth character creation is usually a bad idea in a quest imo.

    >You are called…
    Nico-7.

    >You have a keepsake from where you were raised. It is…
The head of a Vex hobgoblin from Europa, mounted in the captain's quarters of our cutter like common game. There's nothing extraordinary about it, but it was the very first thing we killed after being raised.

    >Your most treasured weapon is…
Zen Meteor. One of the few copies left after the Red War.

    >You call your Ghost…
    Eidolon

    >When you explore, you are often accompanied by…
Mechawoofer XVII is good. Could name it Thesseus.

    >Your preferred weapons are… (Pick one from each category, or a Set like Hakke, Omolon or Suros)
    Black Armory.

    >You have a habit of, among other things...
Being wary of and around aliens. A marked improvement over the burning hatred we used to have for xenos.
    >>
    >>6480294

    >In-depth character creation is usually a bad idea in a quest imo.

Noted, but figured I'd give it a try.

    New Land Beyond
I never played enough Destiny to get either NLB so my vote is based purely on aesthetics

    >You call your Ghost…

Supporting >>6480294 on Black Armory, don't remember/didn't play enough Destiny to vote for something else.

    >You have a habit of, among other things...
Collecting pre-Collapse Relics, be they important or not. All the better if they were recovered from the cluches of the Fallen or the Vex.

There's a lot there and this a pretty big vote especially the habits prompt, so I'm going to let this run while I get some sleep.

Only potential companions I'm vetoing are other Guardians, Hive and Vex.

Odd quest concept. I know a bit about Destiny (as a D2 F2P/vanilla guy) and even less about Mass Effect. Hopefully we don't get eaten by a Reaper--whatever those are.

I'll support being a collector of golden age relics and knick knacks. I think that's a very warlocky hobby.

    >>6480318
I guess I can give it a go and throw out a few ideas. I'm not much of a writer though.

Lucyn Morrow, a mortal Earthborn Awoken and armorer who lived under our brief rule as a Risen lord and is thus our oldest surviving friend. He only began traveling with us after his wife, Adyra, died (of natural causes) about a decade ago. The passage of time and personal losses have done little to erode his jovial demeanor. We just call him "Luke".

Valerie-22, a fellow Exo and sharpshooter originally from the City militia. We worked with her during the Red War to help smuggle survivors out of the Legion-occupied City and she stuck with us even after Ghaul was defeated. She has nerves of steel and a passion for firearms. Enjoys hunting.

Wu Wei, a talented Human pilot in his early 30s that we befriended during the Faction Wars. Formerly a supporter of New Monarchy, he abandoned the faction after their failed coup and flight from the Last City and now works directly for us. Wei is a blunt and disciplined man. He's also a big fan of the Crucible.

    >>6480446
    >Nico-7
Admittedly I could have found a cooler sounding name than Nico but I thought it would be kind of funny if our name was N-7.
    >>
    >>6480138
Let me see if I have my basic bitch F2P lore somewhat on deck . . .

    >You were raised shortly after the completion of the Last City and the Battle of Six Fronts.
    - Unknown/Destiny 1?

    >You were raised shortly after the Battle of Twilight Gap.
    - Unknown/Destiny 1?

    >You were raised shortly after the Great Disaster.
    - Unknown/Destiny 1?

    >You were raised after the Heart of the Black Garden was ripped out.
    - Unknown/Destiny 1?

    >You were raised during the Taken War.
    - Golden Age?

    >You were raised during the Siva Crisis.
    - Never heard of this.

    >You were raised during the Red War.
    - Vaulted content. Said to be kino though.

    >You were raised after the Dreaming City was locked in a time loop.
    - When? Ah--this must be paid expac content. Shadowkeep, maybe?

    >You were raised after the Hive built the Scarlet Keep.
    - I did do Scarlet Keep. That Morn-whatever chick with the three eyes. Df was that even about? Something about a prison and the pyramid on the moon.

    >You were raised after the Darkness returned.
    - End of Scarlet Keep, where the player Guardian talks to 'themselves'. The part where you're told, "we are your salvation."

    >You narrowly escaped the Lucent Brood with your new life.
    - Is this the "I have a bullet with your name on it" guy?

    >You were raised in the wake of the Traveller’s opening.
    - The Traveller opens??? Early Final Shape, maybe?

    >You were raised after the Witness’s defeat.
    - Obviously, Final Shape.

    >You were raised after III’s death.
    - Renegades. Based content, mostly locked behind the paid expansion of the same name. Star War collab.

Be patient with me, folks. I'm a D2 noob, as I've said.

Ghosts are small intelligent machines that act as companions to their chosen Guardian. In practice, their primary function is reviving their Guardian upon death, but they also do just about anything you would expect a robot assistant to do. Hacking into secure systems, repairing broken machinery, routing communications, running calculations, archiving and retrieving information, scanning and scouting area, acting as floating flashlights... the list goes on. Ghosts can also be destroyed, which is often what happens when a Guardian meets their final death.
    >TLDR; Ghosts are the little floating eyeballs next to Guardians that make them effectively immortal and do all the grunt work
    >>
    >>6480453
    >that we befriended during the Faction Wars
I meant the faction rallies btw.

    >>6480455
A bit late on that vote and it doesn't really matter if you know the story or not, since this is about a quest about a Guardian getting thrown into Mass Effect. We voted for the first option so all you really need to know is that our Exo was resurrected at least a century or more before the events of Destiny 1.

Your name is Nico-7. In truth, you're not certain how many resets you had before you were raised, but your name is Nico, all the same.

Your ghost's name is Eidolon. A tautology, but one that amuses you and him both. The two of you can often be found debating the minutiae of the arcana and apocrypha you've gathered over the years while you curate the collection of pre-Collapse relics you've gathered over your long career. You're still in something of a minor cold war with the Spider, given his own collection and you're still livid with the fact he managed to steal The Starry Night out from under you.

Just goes to show that no matter how genial or cultured, you simply cannot trust an alien unreservedly. And you're frankly astonished at how quickly so many people have begun to do just that. Even Guardians who know very well the atrocities the Fallen have committed and survived the Red War.

Still, it's not a complete mystery as to why when they've been as free with their armories as they have and their weapon smiths know their work. You still prefer the Black Armory pieces that you possess and your Zen Meteor. Not many of those left now, after the Red Legion destroyed the Old Tower in the opening minutes of the Red War, but your vault is part of your ship, not part of the general system. You predate the requirement for Guardians to keep their unused arms within the Tower and frankly, that debacle rather neatly proved your point as to why a centralised armory was foolish.

What weapons you can't source through Ada-1 these days, you typically take what you can get. The specific characteristics rarely bother you overly.

    (Part1)
    >>
    >>6480557

Many Guardians call you a loner, but that's somewhat relative. It's more that you've lost so very many friends over the long years that it's hard to let people get close.

Fortunately, your oldest friend is Thesseus-17, a robotic quadruped you built back on Europa to help you with salvage work. He's had sixteen updates to his name so far, but fortunately, he's rugged and easy to repair, even if he's not as sleek and true to life as Archie.

But besides him, there’re others… (Pick up to three)

    >Lucyn Morrow, a mortal Earthborn Awoken and armorer who lived under your brief rule as a Risen lord and is your oldest surviving sapient friend. He only began traveling with you after his wife, Adyra, died (of natural causes) about a decade ago. The passage of time and personal losses have done little to erode his jovial demeanor. you just call him "Luke".

    >Valerie-22, a fellow Exo and sharpshooter originally from the City militia. You worked with her during the Red War to help smuggle survivors out of the Legion-occupied City and she stuck with you after Ghaul was defeated. She has nerves of steel and a passion for firearms. Enjoys hunting.

    >Wu Wei, a talented Human pilot in his early 30s that you befriended during the Faction Rallies. Formerly a supporter of New Monarchy, he abandoned the faction after Lakshmi-2’s failed coup and the Factions’ flight from the Last City and he now works directly for you. Wei is a blunt and disciplined man. He's also a big fan of the Crucible.

    >Bracus Traag, a Cabal Phalanx under Empress Caitl. Commander Zavala tapped you to work with him as a show of unity after the treaty with Caitl was signed, banking on your experience and seniority as a Guardian to prevent any incidents. You've found him to be a surprisingly astute and unsurprisingly eager student of Earth's military history when you're not out shooting things.

    >Casavysk the Shadow, A Fallen Marauder, of the House of Light. Another companion you tolerated for Commander Zavala despite your personal dislike of the Fallen. She is actually more tolerable than most Hunters, which surprised you, in that she is actually curious about your work and hobbies and is almost as good as them when it comes to scouting and marksmanship. She builds Shanks in her spare time.

    >Vel Siduri, an Awoken Corsair formerly stationed in the Dreaming City. She's died almost as many times as you have and is one of a bare handful of mortals you'd back in a fight against the average Guardian. She was the third companion you took on for Commander Zavala's 'solidarity' fireteam and the one you accepted the easiest.

She is actually more tolerable than most Hunters, which surprised you, in that she is actually curious about your work and hobbies and is almost as good as them when it comes to scouting and marksmanship. She builds Shanks in her spare time.
Three racists and their alien friend.

A Wall, a Scout and a Gunsmith(?) ought to be a pretty nicely rounded team.

But Anon, aren't WE the engineer of the team with our Exo background?

I'll swap Wu Wei for Bracus Traag.

Nico-7 sound to me like "Christopher number 3" while Warden-12 feels more "mass produced"

"Luke" is probably one of the few people around qualified to look after our personal vault, not to mention his presence would probably do a lot to keep our nigh immortal ass grounded. Gotta remember where you came from after all.
Wu Wei sound like a damn good pilot, and any good ship deserves one of those. Consistent transport and CAS are severely underrated aspects of the clandestine paramilitary operations we get up to as a Guardian as well.
    Bracus is THE WALL. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpemKbWUqW0
Also we gotta have a proper alien around to meet the Vanguard's new diversity quota.

I hear you, but considering shutting TFU. Doesn't matter if I "need to know the story or not." I was simply speculating on my Destiny lore as a new player who enjoys the setting.

Also, QM. Question: wouldn't we, as a Guardian, be owning everyone in ME outside of the Reapers? I believe Guardians are basically gods thanks to the Traveller, plus we respawn if the ghost isn't destroyed. On top of that, we're a warlock. I don't care one way or the other; it's your quest, not mine. Just want to know what level of power fantasy I'm in for.

Changing from Casavysk to Wu Wei.

(Holy fuck I am once again reminded about how much I miss Destiny, while also vehemently refusing to jump back in)

That's basically what Exo names are.
