The city of Nanarek was once the center of the world. Records describe it as the epitome of opulence, It's palace walls carved from granite hauled from miles away, It's homes trimmed with gold and decorated with Lapis and Turquoise, it's land fertile and abundant. But that is exactly what they are, records, hearsay. The reality is that Nanarek disappeared from any and all historical records thousands of years ago. No reliefs where carved gloating about a victory over Nanarek, no letters from the kings of Nanarek where received by other kings in the region. merchants reported that the trading routes to Nanarek led nowhere now, there was just sand and wind and sky. All the empires that did buisness with Nanarek faded, and sooner or later the true location of the city was lost. The only ones keeping it's memory alive where ancient authors well read on history but even their writings tell how frustrating it was to learn anything about this place. Some claimed that the gods cursed the city, erasing it from existence for some unknown slight against them, others claim the best sorcerers of Nanarek used their magic to hide their city from an attack. But even the writings of these authors where buried by the sands of time. Until recently that is, first it started with claims from traders. They said that in the desert was a city shrouded in fog, and that despite being in the desert clouds always hung over this mysterious city. Some claimed that at night when walking near this city no star could be seen in the sky. This of course piqued the interest of kings, sultans and tribal leaders who all knew what this mysterious city could be. And after that the word spread to the common man soldiers, fishers, smiths, scholars and mages alike where packing up to travel to this city in hopes of taking home untold richesOur story will follow one of these brave fools
HOLY SHIT SHE'S BACK AND NOT DEAD
While there are many, MANY people risking their lives for this city. Our story will revolve around three and focus on one. So, who will the quest follow?>The KnightA rookie, experienced enough in combat to not get killed in a fistfight. She is a commoner, drafted into the military to fight in a war for some feudal lord she didn't care much for. She was payed handsomely for her services but it wasn't enough, eventually the funds ran out. She believes her time in the military is enough to prepare her for this trip. She is hardy and creative, but could never learn magic for the life of her. Experienced in many different kinds of weapons she will have no issue with anything that attacks her on her journey >The HuntressA devout believer in the old stag god Kerenas, His followers willingly live in primal savagery. They shun the newer ways of life and live off the land, hunting with hand made tools and living a nomadic lifestyle. Their tribes are fierce and competitive and for one reason or another The Huntress must prove herself to hers. She's a survivalist with a natural affinity for some nature magic but little capacity to learn beyond that. Her antisocial disposition makes her hard to work with but that never mattered, she's more than capable of surviving this journey on her own. Her acrobatics and hunting skills can get her out of any trouble that finds her>The ScholarA dignitary from the Elven Caliph and a borderline celebrity in academia, The Scholar was educated from birth on all things alchemy and magic. When word spread amongst the upper class that the Sultan was looking for someone to start an expedition on this elusive city that appeared in the middle of the desert The Scholar volunteered immediately. And through enough family ties, bribery and at least one "convenient" death the Sultan chose him to head this expedition. Being an educated man The Scholar found little time to condition himself physically. His talents for magic are enough to keep people from picking fights with him, and if that doesn't work his charming personality gets him out of hot water. And even if his elven charm doesn't work? well, he could always bribe his way out of troubleAnd while we're choosing a protagonist, why don't we suggest names for them too?
>>6478331im sorry if I worry or disappoint, I hope what I have planned for this quest makes up for it ^_^
>6478340>The ScholarIf we are to work for a sultan... Maybe, Zayid The Learned? (offen called "The Scheming" behind his back by detractors and other gossipers)
>>6478340>>The HuntressUhhh zoe. Welcome back swordqm, hope life is treating you better.
>>6478340>The KnightThree way tieing this to be diabolical>>6478344Look, it's quite simple. We here at /qst/ have adapted to seeing quests die or be dropped and QMs get hit by the curse or flake or worse. It's only natural by this point for us anons here to worry about any prospective QM of a quest we follow, participate in, or like in any capacity.
>>6478352it has been! things have settled down now and I have more free time. I also feel a lot better!>>6478358fair, fair. I just hate to disappoint. Let alone worry, again I apologize if I did make any of you worry>Three way tieing this to be diabolicalI would love to write about all three of them at the same time but I don't think that'll work for this quest, the other two will show up later in the story though. We're just voting on who we control. Who knows, we could even get them to join us if we find them!
>>6478340>The KnightPetra for The Knight.Torn between the scholar so we know what we're looking at, or the fun of a complete fish outta water. Though I imagine everyone will be caught flatfooted eventually.
>>6478340>>The Huntress
>>6478340>The HuntressGoing to go with Caer Falin.
>>6478340>The ScholarGive me DA LORE. If we meet in fortunate circumstances and get the other two aspiring corpses as party members, perhaps some MC switching could be done. Swordboy and Jinx found DEAD in the Fertile Crescent.
>>6478549I'm not opposed to some MC switching if circumstances call for it and it's what voters want. But do know if you're choosing The Scholar there's probably some other things he'll want to do to dead or dying party members
Oh, also! I'm going to be closing the votes and deciding the mc in 4 hours! so if you haven't yet get your vote in ^_^
Ok so hear me out scholar voters, tummy.
>>6478691Oh snap, a Fear and Hunger-like.>>6478712You're already winning with 3 votes, dummy!
>>6478340>>The Scholar
>>6478340>Huntress
>>6478340>The Scholar
ok so, Scholar and Huntress are both tied with four votes. Whoever replies to this post first with their vote breaks the tie
>>6478821>Huntress
>>6478821Huntress.Sorry nerds.
>>6478821New vote?If not scholar
>>6478822>>6478824Huntress it is! I'd feel a little bad just shoving Scholar to the side so you will be able to meet him later in the story! you just won't be controlling him>>6478825I decided against that because I want to get this started and I think another vote would take a bit
>>6478352>>6478510>>6478540>>6478805>>6478824Our story will follow Caer Falin, A huntress and devout follower of Kerenas the old stag god of the hunt, fertility, nature, and decay. Her tribe is The Bear Claw tribe, a tribe large enough to be connected to the civilized world through trade. It was through this that Caer heard of city far east that disappeared some time and came back. Many details piqued her interest as the story spread through her tribe. Why this even interested her in the first place was because Caer needed a way to regain honor and respect amongst her tribe. With nothing but the clothes on her back, a bag of supplies and some weapons she set out.Why is it that Caer decided to go in the first place?>1.) Caer failed in a hunt, leading to the death of many members of her tribe. She will go to Nanarek and slaughter the terrifying beasts she'd heard stories of to prove her worth to her chieftain.>2.) Caer's greed got the best of her. One day she schemed with merchants and sold some of her tribes amber and bronze behind the leaders back, once they found out they exiled her. Caer plans to go to Nanarek to plunder it of it's riches and bring it back to her tribe so they will have no choice but to take her back in.>3.) Caer is looking for a missing tribesman. The strongest warrior in the tribe ventured to Nanarek to bring back the riches the city had to offer but has not come back yet. Caer had not been on good standing with her tribe for a while now because of her abrasive personality. She knows they gave her this opportunity because there was a good chance she wouldn't come back but will go anyway because she needs to prove that she can do what the strongest warrior in Bear Claw could not

>>64788593)>God of Nature is called Kerenas, Warhammer elven god of nature and the hunt is Kurnous.>Big city full of treasure all factions want to loot. >Alright, I'll use this opportunity to polish my Mordheim quest.
>>6478962That sounds like it'll be fun.
>>6478859haha, Please do so! also fun little fact I got Kerenas's name from Cernunnos, an elusive Gaulish deity who had a lot of deer iconography. From what I've researched he was associated with the underworld and fertility. the "nature and the hunt" aspect was just a creative liberty of mine. Taking a look at Kurnous it looks like they derived from the same source as me. I actually had no idea I was willingly ripping off real mythology and accidentally ripping off Warhammer 40k at the same time!
>>6478967>>6478962what the hell, I meant to respond to this. Sorry about that, I don't even know how that happened
>>6478967Warhammer fantasy, but details. And Cernunnos doesn't come up very much. Taking inspiration from real-world mythology isn't the same as ripping off.
>>6478972I know, I know, I'm just giving myself shit. I actually really like showing love to all the gods I learn about in my research by taking inspiration from them. Also sorry for getting the two mixed up!

Thanks for putting me on this)>>6479316>>6479829Not long ago, the best warrior in tribe Bear Claw decided that he and he alone would venture to Nanarek and bring home not only the riches the city had to offer but also respect among the other tribes of Kerenas worshipers. Many weeks past and worry settles in among tribe Bear Claw, what if he had died? what if the best warrior they had was already mummified in the sand? What if he had taken the treasure for himself? That is where Caer comes in, she had always been the cynical, misanthropic kind. Even among Kerenas worshipers who are described as animalistic and lacking in higher thinking ability she is especially brutish. But she's also their best hunter, so the clan elders can't just get rid of her. They offered her this mission to "prove herself" but in reality it's to get her out of their hair for a bit. They know she'll make it back but if she can find their warrior is a whole other question, if she can't then they have a reason to exile her. Caer is aware of this, and she intends to prove to them that they need her more than she needs them. She'll bring their greatest warrior home along with riches, trophies and glory. Her bag is filled with tools that will help her in this adventure. To start, what weapon besides a hunting knife is Caer's specialty? >1.) Caer likes to hunt with spears, she likes stalking her prey before pouncing on them and killing them in a single blow>2.) Caer hunts with a bow, she prefers to weaken her opponents from a distance before finishing them with her knife when they're too hurt to fight back>3.)Caer hunts with traps and wit, Armed with nothing but a bolas, a club and some materials for traps Caer outwits her prey and finished them off with her knife

>>6479884A lost city full of loot where people disappear, a hunter, a scholar and a knight... And that pic...Oh no...>Caer hunts with a bow, she prefers to weaken her opponents from a distance before finishing them with her knife when they're too hurt to fight back

What's a huntress without her bow after all? Caer had spent most of her time training with a bow and arrow. Her shot was indescribable, she could hit the neck of a boar from meters away and on top of that her tracking was impeccable. Whatever she hit she found, and whatever she found was brought home. Though she would often claim most of the prize for herself, she felt that she and she alone should get the lions share of her killed game. She was the one who put all the work in the kill after all, right? While her skills with a bow has nothing to do with magic her devotion to Kerenas has granted her a suite of natural magic affinity. Father-Huntsman grants his most talented children his greatest boons. Even if Caer has little capacity to learn magic beyond what her devotion lets her use she has a couple of tricks if a well placed shot isn't enough.what kind of magic does Caer specialize in? >.1) Offensive magic, Caer wants to shed more blood for Kerenas. (Conjure Thorns, Lesser Rotting)>2.) Defensive magic, Caer believes she has enough weapons, what she needs is a chance to survive. (Healing Sap, Herbal Dosage)>3.) Utilitarian magic, abilities that don't directly harm her enemies or directly help Caer but have several uses either way. (Beastspeak, Bloodscent, Hunter Vision)All of these abilities have a minor drawback, and won't work in the way you expect them too. You'll find out what I mean next post!
