    It is the 1990s.

The location, is the former Soviet Union.

Everything we know has collapsed into chaos. The western mind can't comprehend the suffering that we endure.

All the crime and open armed violence of the American 1930s "Gangster" era, all the corruption and more of the 1930s "Gangster" era.

The inflation and poverty of the Great Depression.

The alcoholism of the Roaring 20s and 1930s "Gangster" Era, and widespread use of heroin that puts everything Americans know into the shadows.

Nurses and teachers moonlit as prostitutes. Soldiers and law enforcement go months without pay.

    Who you are

You are a Majór of the Russian security apparatus. You might be part of the Ground Forces or the Internal Ministry Troops, but it doesn't matter.

Before you can continue with your pitiful life, it must be discovered what motivates you, and thus... What counts as you fulfilling what your heart's desires are.

In other words, what is "winning" at life.
    >>
    Base Desire Pairs

Many human desires come in opposing pairs, like deceit and honesty.

Most people are sometimes one thing and sometimes another thing, usually between 30-70% one way or the other.

Lots of people have one trait, that is at 75%. For example a person who is "Very Honest", even when they want to lie, feels compelled to tell the truth 75% of the time.

This can make life very hard for them.

But so can being compelled to lie or keep secrets 75% of the time.

    Your Base Desire Pairs

You must have at least two strong Desires. Both of them can be on the left, or you can have one of each. You can also have two left and one right.

If you pick a strong desire that makes your life harder or closes doors for you in terms of power and status, you get a secret benefit that will be revealed soon.

    * Chaste / Lustful

    * Energetic / Lazy

    * Forgiving / Vengeful

    * Generous / Selfish

    * Honest / Deceitful

    * Just / Arbitrary

A "Just" persion is considered "fair" or "impartial". while an arbirary person is "partial" and "biased".

    * Modest / Proud

    * Prudent / Reckless

    * Spiritual / Worldly

    * Temperate / Indulgent

    * Trusting / Suspicious

    * Valorous / Cowardly

You are Alexei Sergeyevich Petrov, also known as Majór Pretrov.

You are in your 30s, and you've been enlisted for the entire history of modern Russian, including a few years during the Soviet Union.

You are a brave and valorous man, who doesn't shy away from danger or adventure, or at least that's who you used to be.

There has been a deep pit in your stomach, in your core, a coldness in your blood, for what feels like a very long time. You weren't supposed to be blind, in any sense of the word, and you were never stupid, but perhaps you had just been more idealistic or self-deluded.

Or you had spent way too much time hooking up with women and spending what money you had to yourself, on prostitutes, or buying women drinks.

Which is why you were positioned in the middle of nowhere. That's how you finally realized something was wrong. That plus the fact that your men started to stop getting their paychecks and started disappearing. You made some desperate moves and made some tough decisions, and well...

The society that you once loved and knew is very very sick. People are starving and dying. Pensions are gone, wages are always late, and factory workers in their off time try to sell the very things they produce on the streets. Everyone smokes, every man drinks, and many of them drink to death.

Vodka is money. Sometimes even heroin in money.

And that's why you have been able to be at peace for years. That is why you hate the whole corrupt system. That is why you supported Lieutenant General Alexander Ivanovich Lebed when he brokered the ceasefire with the Chechens, that is why you voted for him when he ran for office, and that is why you were disappointed when he sold out to The Alcoholic.

You voted for the Communists. Yes, not your best decision ever, but you lived with it. Just as you lived with being passed over promotion and having to scrape, and sometimes almost steal, to keep your men fed and supplied.

The Movement in Support of the Army, was supposedly led by Lieutenant General and State Duma member Lev Rokhlin, who supposedly had plans to overthrow the Yeltsin regime.

No one knows if you wanted to join him or not.

    It doesn't matter now.
    >>
    You are being ambushed[

You awaken in your bed to the sound of someone trying to sneak into your apartment and crashing into something. You reach for your weapon.

    Pick One

    >>You reach your pistol, because you are an Officer of the Army
You are trained in firearms, but only military firearms. You are also a man of reflexes and education, which you learned from your time in the service.

    >>You reach for your shotgun, because you are an Officer of the Internal Ministry
You were trained to negotiate and threaten others into compliance, but you also were trained in body hardening and melee combat. Of course you can still use firearms as well, including shotguns of all things, just not as well.
    >>
Because you lead from the front and treat people equally, without regard for one over another, your men are very loyal to you. The men who stopped showing up because of pay reasons, have worked out a system with you. You help them pretend to work and they show up for refresher training or drill, when you really need them to. They only get part of their pay, so they're only doing part of the work.

But you do have enough semi-professionals around at any given time to keep the conscripts from hazing each other to death, and you've beaten the worst of them to make a point.

The result is that your understrength battalion, more like two companies of 100 or so, are in better condition than 80% of the army or internal forces.

Also you have great reflexes, obviously, otherwise you'd be dead.

But what happened about your whole, being a pervert thing?

    Pick One from here too

    >>You are more than handsome and not only that, but you are trained in sex appeal, which mostly means that you're more appealing.
The result is that most people view you favorably, and people who could be attracted to you, find you charming. You run the risk of getting in trouble, or heavily offending someone by hitting on them, but your advances are more successful than comparable handsome men.

    >>You are just handsome, but you practiced and trained in decorum, public speaking, haggling, being careful with your words, and apologizing.
Everyone likes you a bit more than the average person, and people who think you're hot like you even more. When trying to hit on someone, you are better at romancing and trying to offer something besides your body or sweet talking. If you offend someone, you have a chance to recover and try to have enough self control to move on.

Which means they likely will die, despite any attempts by you to keep them alive.

Some say the assassin attacked with a machine pistol, some say an Kalashnikov, and some say it was just a regular pistol. Either way, they didn't stand a chance.
    >>
Lieutenant General and State Duma member Lev Rokhlin died in his bed, and you think it was an assassination.

Fast Forward to the Presidential election of 1999/2000

A lot of the main parties begin to consolidate, little by little, and then all at once. All of the new stations begin to get behind this new united party, United Russia. The heir apparent to Yeltsin, a man name Putin positions himself as a man of law and security, of stability during a time of crime.

But Yeltsin is a very unjust man and the nation has been run into the ground under his watch. Or at least, that is your point of view.

Lieutenant General Alexander Ivanovich Lebed had risen into office under Yeltsin, was pushed out of power by a jealous Internal Security man, and then he ran for office to lead a province. He won and is refusing to run for President now, despite all kinds of rumors and visits to the US to talk to this real estate Trump guy.

You are starting to give up hope.

There is a brothel, a few actually, that are a little out of your way. But if you get something like a Russian equivalent of a "hall pass" or "leave time", this is where you go. There are places where people drink and try to meet others closer, but sometimes you just want to come here, spend some money, not have to work too hard, and get specific sex acts.

    "Majór Pretrov," a voice says.

It's a man wearing a Urshanka and a great coat, leaned back and relaxed on a couch. You are in the communal space within the second floor hallway. This is usually where you wait for one of the "girls" to be available, and sometimes a place where you inquire about this woman or that woman.

There is a hammer and sickle on his Urshanka, and he has markings on his great coat.

You can tell his hand is in the pocket of his coat, and likely to be holding a pistol, but he's not brandishing it.

"I was going to play it slick and cool," he says, before letting out a heavy sigh and tilting his head back. "But there is no such thing as the right words. Other people, unlike us, anything they say is acceptable and even positively received, but people like you and me, nothing we say matters."

The man turns on a light and leans forward, his arms crossed, but with one hand still in his coat. He's annoyed and bitter, grumpy and agitated.

He puts his hand on his chest. "I," he begins introducing himself, "Am Detektiv Pretashinko. I am one of the best of detektivs and in one of the worst sectors of Moscow."

His eyes have an empty and tired look at the floor boards. "At least, until things got out of hand" he says, just loud enough for you to hear.

His eyes return to you and some color returns to his face. "I have the backing of the Liberals in Yabloko, along with the libertarian Union of Right Forces (SPS). I know that would only put me at pace with Unity or OVR, and those two parties have merged."

The man stands up and starts talking with a pointing finger. "But those fuckers can't try any more of their bullshit." He does a dismissive shooing away gesture. "I brush all of that aside, knowing that I have been in secret meetings with socialists and whatnot, people who have given up on the Communist Party of the Russian Federation."

You had voted for Gennady Zyuganov last time.

This man gestures to himself again and again, and then outward as needed. "This Putin fuck, he can try and this law and order this, law and order that bullshit, but I am a proper lawman? Who has this man arrested? Who has he protected and avenged? Who freely informs for him?"

This man steps closer to you and speaks with his voice low. "Half of these women listen and watch for me," he says. "Just as much as they depend on you or anyone else, they depend on me."

He then takes a step back and crosses his arms more.

"That's what it comes down to," he says. "With part of the law and order vote, part of the Left vote, and most of the opposition behind me, I have a fighting chance."

The man offers his hand. "Will you openly support me and can I count on you to provide security during the election? I will accept the latter if I can't get the former. I got my own guys, but I could use more. The fat cats get really jealous of popular people and like to poison them."

He spits on the floor after saying "Fat cats".

"Mother fucker," he says. "I forgot to open things up with flattery and rumors I've heard about your bravery." He rolls his eyes and tilts his head back, groaning like a teenager told by his mom to clean his room. His eyes return to you. "I ask that you please forgive me for that oversight."

Pretashinko provides you some of the money up front and then tells you that there are tasks that must be done anyways, as part of your reponsibilities.

Within a week or so you you meet up at an abandoned motor pool on the edge of an industrial area. A lot of contstruction and projects during the Soviet era were abandoned, and this is one of them.

Your men wear balaclavas, steel helmets, 6B3 or 6B5 vests, and uniforms where the insignia are covered or removed. They are equipped with a mixture of AKMs and newer kalahsnikovs.

A group of "GNR" (Group of Immidate Reponse) men meet up with you. Local militsiya (cops) and plainclothes detectives, all wearing 6B2 vests under their armor great coats, and equipped with a mixture of shotguns, AKS-74Us, and sub machine guns. They have different armbands from each other, two or three patterns that you can't quite make out.

Pretashinko told you he isn't announcing he is running just yet and that he needs to protect his main identity.

In other words, someone else will meet you there.
    >>
    >>6474145
"Taras," one of the detektiv starts. "Is the boss in this area. He runs enough of the local underworld operations that we just assume he runs everything or as much as any one man can control."

A woman steps forward wearing a great coat and balaclava, but otherwise regular street clothing. It's pretty cold this night and a lot of the men are smoking. The woman starts. "He's on the top floor of the 'Metropol', which is a high end restaurant and casino, with some of his top men." She then steps back.

    >>How do you orchestrate the strike? (Choose one)

    Do a "SWAT" style raid
During peak evening hours you will raid the building with flash bombs and firing blanks as needed, along with kicking in or breaching doors. All of you will swarm the building and in the event of resistant you will use tear gas.

    Night Stealth Raid
Sneak in at 4AM, through the top floor after climbing up there. That bypasses all the people and all of the possible security. If needed, you can signal for the power to be cut or not, and then you can grab Taras and whoever is with him, while they are sleeping.

    Framing
You will raid his warehouse which is several minutes from him. This will involve gas and flash bombs, followed by holding people at gunpoint.

You then will frame him for domestic terrorism and being Islamic, or some other kind of terrorist. This might involve heavy weapons, bombs, narcotics; and then lots of taking pictures.

You will then black mail him or turn the evidence over to the FSB.

You can also mix and match any of these,
or do a "SWAT" style raid at 4AM with the power cut, through the main or back entrances on the ground floor.
    >>
    >>6474148
    >Night SWAT Raid

Cut the power, go in through the main and back entrances.

By striking with speed and surprise at night, we lower resistance and how much time they have to orientate and equip themselves. It is less complex than the night stealth raid or the framing too, since we don't have to climb to the top floor or arrange a framejob. Framing him also comes with the possibility that he flees instead of having him come to the scene we want him to, plus we'd be facing him fully armed after he has time to prep. Less witnesses at night too.

The "SWAT" style raid at 4AM mostly goes as planned. It's not perfect and it's not horrible either. They aren't as sleep we were hoping and cutting the power quickly led to them assuming they were about to be attacked, and on top of that, there was women their and they tried to take hostages.

However, the GNR teams came through the back and we came through the front, at about the same time. Rooms were generally flashbombered before breaching and rooms that produced too much shotgun or automatic fire, were hit with tear gas, even if it had to be fired from a KS-23 shotgun adapter.

A decent number of civilians took minor injuries and a woman almost died, and all of them have serious hearing damage.

Taras was captured, alive, but one of his best men escaped and another one died. His lawyer was about to do bullshit and the authorities for some reason wanted him released, but instead of letting him go or executing him, Gregori turned him over to the Ukrainians. There was real or faked proof tying him to drug and arms smuggling there, and they won't accept his money to release him.

We also took some injured, a few men will be some form of crippled for the rest of their lives, and all of us suffered some level of hearing loss or damage.
    -
    -
    -
However, everyone involved is more experienced and reasonable stockpiles of money were seized. Drugs were destroyed. Weapons were captured. Low level muscle was captured and we can sentence them to like, doing construction and living conditions as bad or worse than conscripts.
    >>
You thought this Gregori guy was a bit of a loser and not very good at speaking, and he didn't have all of the money up front, but his men were pretty solid fighters, and between the two of you, there is enough money seized.

Your unit is now provided with fairly reasonable access to clothing repairs and modifications, along with affordable hot food and storable provisions. In other words, help from grandmas, old women, and farmers.

Your unit has improved access to doctors and nurses, along with medical supplies. The wounded are mostly checked up on by your own, or by "attendants" who are volunteers, mostly women and some men.
    >>

The days pass, the weeks come and go, the seasons change. People try and kill this guy with like poison or whatever, but it doesn't work. A man tries to rush him and draw a gun, but this Gregori guy, naturally, just draws first and shoots him in the face.

There is a late night break in or two, a few assassination attempts on your own life, none of it amounts to much.

    Not even a scratch.

It's a long shot. You know it is, but what can you do? It's not like anything is going to happen right?

The election ends up being very competitive? The voting happens and the counting happens, and you don't know what is what.
    >>
One mass media station and then another starts going on about how gay this man is, how he's impossibly gay. One goes on about how he can't even get hard with women and another says something about bisexual orgies.

He's a real quiet guy at times. You're amazed that anyone thinks he's that remarkable. He's a quick draw, and he carries around an automatic pistol with an extended magazine, as big as your head the whole thing is... But that's it?

The women seem to like his poetry, or at least some of them do, but you think it's rather lame?

It seems to get more to the point than when he talks to you, when that happens.

The remote providences start saying they have very high voter turnouts and very high vote percentages for Putin.

But the messengers and the news you hear the next day, say that protests and firefights have broken out in the remote provinces. That the minority groups are clashing with the authorities and local units are deserving or trying to come home to desert.

The international media says it can't tell what is what, the election could be so close it needs a recount, but the mass media stations of Russia deny this.

Someone bursts into the barracks and tells you to flip your satellite TV to NTV, one of the independent stations of Russia.

The channel flips back and forth between independent and mass media stations, both sides are condemning each other of lying, cheating, stealing, kidnapping, murder, and having STDs. >>
    Welcome

You are not the first and you will not be the last. Are you the fifth actually, the 5th of a string of commanders who all made war for their own reasons and for their own agendas, and often working with or at the bidding of various world powers.

Each of you was at the mercy of those before you, their victories and failures.

Since you decided to walk this path with Gregori, and since he has won the election, but the regime won't give it up, it's time for the Second Constitution Crisis. That means a battle and perhaps even a war. A war for the fate of Russia and perhaps Slavs everywhere.
    -
    -
    -
To start with, you command a Battalion of Motor Rifle Infantry, a on paper strength of 400-500. You don't have everything you deserve, but it's unlikely the other side or anyone else has everything.

You have two infantry companies of about 100 or so men, an HQ platoon (Literally you, your maps, your radios, and all the help/security you need, and various support platoons that fire various heavy weapons.

You should have another infantry company and some other stuff, but you don't. This is Russia, no one has what they want and those who do, want even more.

    Turns

A Long Turn is enough time to check in with all your units/formations, hear back from them, tell them to do something, have them do it, and have them report back. This is about 10 minutes in setting.

We will start with a Long Turn and then as things start heating up, we will swatch to Turns and even Cycles. As things cool down, we will go back to Turns and Long Turns.

A Turn is about a minute and it's the amount of time for you to give an order over the radio, have them, do what you ask, and report back to you. Be aware that when you give an order, you have to call a Kapitan, who has to call his Leytenants, who has to yell and use messengers with his Serzhant , who have to smack upside the head and point with conscripts.

Actual moving and shooting technically happens in ten second, Cycles. Units don't shoot in one cycle and then shoot in the next one, typically.

Unless told otherwise, your men will shoot at targets that are two hexes away from them. This is called "Initiative Distance" and it's because they can think for themselves a little bit.

    >>Commands

While I am waiting for you to decide and post your Turn or any Orders, I will decide what the enemy does. When you post what your Orders are, you won't know what I decided. Likewise, I will decide without knowledge of what you will do.

For Turns, when you give a Order, you pick a unit. It can be a platoon or a company, or a series of platoons. You then pick an order from the list below, and then you roll 2d6.

    >>Move
You can order a group/unit to move. They move at whatever speeds they can move. Most infantry can move around 30 meters a Cycle, or 1 hex every 4 Cycles. Every minute of moving, units need to rest about a Cycle or two.

Your BTRs move 60 meters a cycle, and they don't need to rest. However they are kinda blind on their own and easy to spot by basically everyone but other vehicles.

    >>Attack
This is what you think it is and the rules for it will be explained later.

    >>Ambush
A unit will go into Ambush and any unit that gets within Short Range will be attacked. There is a +5 bonus to Firepower/Attacks using Ambush. This does stack with Short Range, but sorta does and doesn't stack with attacking the side of a vehicle.

    >>Rally
This is where you try to uplift or yell at your men who are Disrupted. In your case there is a 50/50 chance this will work and it's a 1d10 (Success on a 6 or better). If you Rally them, they return to normal status.

    >>Cautious Movement
A unit will move at half speed or slower, perhaps because half of it's manpower is moving and half is ready to fire. The unit will look into each hex it's about to enter, but poorly, and one hex to the right and left, along with some hexes in the direction they are moving.

Basically, they can see about 3 hexes wide and three hexes out, but it's 50/50 if they can see hidden infantry at the edge of that distance.

    Finally
    >>Search/Look
A unit and whatever it has available will look at a specific given hex to see if something is there.
    -
    -
    -
The pictures will tell you your units.

    ...okay, things are kicking off.

So, do we have all the units in the pictures provided, or is it as the text from >>6474498 describes i.e., two infantry companies, plus a bunch of weapons platoons integrated into the HQ platoon? I hope when you actually post the map we'll be moving on, it isn't so god damned tiny.

Okay, so there have been many attempts at this map, but this is the version we have. I did a lot of work to remove the clutter, but old guys on other websites are telling me I removed a lot of the interesting buildings (Which I found distracting).

The hexes aren't labeled, I am trusting you to save the image and draw on it using the features on /qst/. QST says the map was too big, so it's half size now.

    Terrain

Anything that is tan or khaki, according to the terrain map, was a mixture of woods/clearings. If you are stationary in that area, you're -2 to hit or +2 to cohesion.

If you are moving through those areas or along a major road, or along a minor road, you have no protection at all. That means at medium distance any attack has a 50/50 chance to Disrupt you.
    -
You move along roads, major or minor. Your BTRs move double pace along minor roads, but 3x pace along major roads. They have trash visibility however, which is why your men are dismounted.
    -
    -
All of the greyish areas appear to be heavy buildings, so if you stop inside of them for a Cycle or two, your men will take up positions in concrete or brick buildings. This will make them -4 to hit and replace their body armor stats with Concrete, which means +4 to Cohesion.

Both of those at the same time. This will force the enemy or you, to use heavy weapons or Short attacks to dig each other out.

    Debriefing

Oh great... It's this Grigori guy again.

He is standing on one side of a table and you're standing on another, with a map of the area laid out before you two.

He won't let you smoke unless you step outside. No one gets to smoke within eye-sight of him.

He smells the wrappers of two pieces of gum and closes his eyes, before popping the mint gum into his mouth and chewing it. After a few seconds he is ready to speak.
    -
    -
    -
"As you likely know," Grigori says. "The vast bulk of the Russian Army and Internal Ministry are made up of conscripts who are hazed and neglected so completely, that they can't show up to this fight even if they were nearby and actually wanted to be here."

He looks around the area and then down at the map, which for him is upside down. He points at this train station in the east. "You will be positioned here, at one of several major train stations that travels to Moscow from other cities. Your job is to protect the station and secure it, so that reinforcements from the East can arrive."

He points at two major roads that are marked in red. "Here and here are two major highways or roadways that lead to the Kremlin. I need you to secure these as well."

The supposed President to be, crosses his arms and stands there in his great coat. His lips are pressed together and he has contemplative frown. There is a silence.

"There are some formations attacking or blockading from other angles, which are in better condition," Gregori says. "You will also likely be reinforced by formations in better condition than your own."

    >>You ask him what he knows about the reinforcements, your heart possibly full of doubt.

"Governor and former Lieutenant General, Alexander Ivanovich Lebed," Gregori says. "Isn't taking a side, but he is likely going to if the wind blows enough our way. That means the VDV will sit this out or provide more forces to us than against us."

He points to the West side of a larger map that is hanging. "We are being reinforced by Ukrainians from Donbass," Gregori says. "They will be able to obtain stealth reconnaissance, between them and the GNRs, veterans, we have the ability to do house to house fighting."

    >>You had examined and witnessed some of the volunteer forces he talks about.
Generally their morale is higher, they can stealth better, and they can "assault", but they have shorter range. If they find, buy, or steal hard armor meant for the infantry, they have equal protection to your men.
    >>
    File: OMON.jpg (401 KB, 1143x1600)
    401 KB JPG
I forgot three times to tell you your mortars can target your own hexes with smoke, which causes a 50% chance to ignore all successful Disruptions or Kills by the enemy. Units in smoke also have higher Morale, so they Rally more easily.

    >>6474593
    >>You ask him what the enemy will be like.

He blows out like a smoker and paces a few time, rubbing his chin and thinking. Eventually, he comes to a stop. "There will absolutely be OMON (better trained versions of yourself that do SWAT stuff and Riot Police. There should be 10,000 of them stationed somewhere in the city."

The two of you share intel and ask your own staff, friends what they know. You are both informed and inform each other that you hear a mixture of things.

OMON units usually move as smaller platoon units, which are harder to spot and harder to command. The sometimes have slighter better or the same armor as you, and sometimes they wear way less armor in order to carry way more ammo and explosives.

They also can fire while at a Half Move, with close to no penalty.

Generally, they have more Firepower due to training and are very deadly if they get close.

    >>You hope you get a lot of reinforcements.
    >>
I forgot to outright say that you are free to give your first orders.

One "manpower" of salmon/eraser pink "S" platoon is to mount in pink BTR, take the major road onto the 1 tile north OBJ highway, 2 tiles west, exit the major road into the urban sprawl of the tile itself to set up observation/firing positions. Salmon/eraser pink are to dismount and clear the tile around the BTRs of hostile forces, in other words a "look" action, and provide 360 security. Teal moves northwest and uses its remaining 2 cycles to move as much as it can towards the next tile northwest of the one it ends up in. Likewise the same for yellow going west.

South group does the same thing as north regarding splitting their "S" platoon as mounts/dismounts and using their remaining 2 cycles after moving 4 cycles, etc. Blue heads south, crosses the bridge, exits onto the road along the river bank, shits out its dismounts to look around and provide security while they get comfy. Both green and orange head southwest, with green continuing to head west, and orange turning south with their remaining cycles after entering their new tile.

A lot of games get this wrong and your unit is using old equipment, so I'm going to clarify this to prevent more confusion.

Your PKMs are within your infantry squads. They don't separate, each squad is mostly built around the PKM.

The weapons used are older and more worn out, but they are something like this.
    -
    -
Your NCOs (Serzhants) are a mixture of conscripts and poorly paid professionals. Unlike NATO, you only have one per squad of seven men. That means these squads can't be split up, even to put the long range weapons 50 meters away from the AK-74s, like you are French.

In fact, the quality of your NCOs is bad enough, that these men don't actually do anything but yell and repeat whatever the Leytenant says.
    -
    -
Since your character knows this, I am going to presume you will await for reinforcements and your BTRs will find enough bumps or shacks to get -2 (To hit them) Cover.

The BTRs are to move such that they are no longer taking accurate fire. If unable, then say so, we'll smoke them off. Depending on their reply our next immediate order to to smoke them off, or tell them to get back into the fight from less zeroed in positions as able. The rest of the split infantry company is to cautiously maneuver on the enemy at their discretion to get RPGs on target/search for enemy dismounts around the enemy BTR company. Also get another spotter on the BTRs so we can get updated coordinates as they move, just in case the other spotter is displacing/suppressed, fire incoming. Then we mortar the enemy BTR company, as coords become available. Hit 'em with the tank guns too, if we have line of sight.

Can I convince Kandaly actual to leave one of his platoons here to provide close protection of the train station, as it is one of my main objectives and we have no infantry to spare otherwise. They won't need to worry over lack of coordination with the rest of their company, as they will be strictly on defence in a static position.

If he agrees, get the platoon to entrench in the train station and set up ambush positions.

Regardless of whether he agrees or not, the rest of the GNR company is to head north along the major road, then west along the urban sprawl around the red road and assault the dug-in enemy that was fighting the northern group and root them out. The rest of the northern group is to be echeloned behind them, acting as a base of fire to support them.

In the south, orange platoon is to head south until they reach the river, then orientate west and look for enemy. They should expect enemy contact. Green platoon is to look west, if they don't see anything to shoot at, then move cautiously west 'til they reach that major road with the island of greenery in the middle (or whatever it is).

Balet will get their smoke, get the mortars to smoke off the area they indicated.

Boxcar is to wait until the smoke lands so they aren't exposed, particularly in close quarters where they are blind. Balet is to look for anti-armour threats in the observed zone and kill or suppress them, even if from a distance. Then Baroh may go in to retrieve/supply Babka. Bis is to attack into the contested area, give the enemy something else to think about other than finishing off Babka. If they are unwilling to commit to the assault, then get eyes on the targets at least and shoot at them, even if they aren't willing to root them out. Even better, even if they can't give coordinates, give plain language descriptions of the streets signs and area descriptions of the enemy so that we can get HE mortars on them. Regardless of whether Babka is independently foot mobile or must be evacuated, they are to get out of there riding in Baroh north to the train station HQ for medivac/treatment/reorganization. Balet and Bis are to then disengage, south and north respectively, back the way they came.

The GNR units are to be advised that mortars are temporarily occupied, so to wait on the final assault for proper synchronization, unless they are intent on dying.

Well, I figured we'd be receiving counterbattery fire sooner or later. It took so long I delayed moving preemptively because I began to doubt whether they even had the capability to calculate our fire's trajectory. That, and I wasn't sure if moving our HQ would critically impair our ability to conduct our function.

    >Bis is to retreat, it sounds like the enemy intends to close in close combat with them. The direction they retreat is at their discretion, as we did not receive their location or what direction the enemy fire they are receiving is coming from. If it looks like the enemy will corner them no matter what, they are to hole up in a solid building and prepare for close range ambush. We'll try and get them reinforcements.

    >Move the HQ, mortars, anti-tank gun and our GNR security element west across the major road to the most solid-looking building we can find. We'll get our HQ setup again. The security element is to observe the nearby area within 100 meters or so, to make sure the enemy mortars aren't being guided in by an observer.

    >The Baroh are to find some obscured side streets nearby where they will be safe from observation and hide. Pop out a dismount for better observation, so some random guy doesn't walk up on them with an RPG and kill them. Wait until the artillery fire abates, then conduct their drop offs. Ekspress are to drive as close as they feel comfortable getting without being shelled to our new HQ, we'll receive the wounded and hold them until it is safe to move them back to the medical elements arriving at the train station.

    >After Ekspress drops them off, they are to immediately return by major road to reinforce Kandaly and secure the north red road and engage the oncoming enemy vehicles. They must defend the objective in concert with Kandaly.

    >After Baroh conducts their drop offs, we inform them of Bis's situation. They are to drive to reinforce them until they can hear/see the general location of the fight. Since it sounds like the two elements may be on opposite sides of each other, the BTR company might be able to panic the enemy through a pincer. However, given the how blind a BTR company is, they are to just get eyes on where they think the enemy is and fire at the longest range they can see where they think the enemy is, so as not to get so close as to receive accurate RPGs or get walked up on by dudes with satchel charges or something. While it sounds like an element is assaulting Bis in the open, there may be other elements around them that are more hidden. Just suppress the enemy. Then take side roads around the fight to link up with Bis. At their discretion Baroh and Bis may get closer to the point where they can actually see the enemy again and mow them down. If not, Bis is to mount up in Baroh and go meet back up with Balet near the south red road.

    >Status on the non-GNR, non-BTR elements in the north? Found any enemy to the flanks of the red road, observed any enemy down any of the streets?

Your current orders have the BTRs moving at fast speed, with some turns, then unloading, closing up, and then going around through major roads to get to anyone you want them to reinforce.

They are fast, but due to turning, unloading, and so on... We're looking at like 60-90 seconds.
    -
    -
And that is likely on top of waiting for the HQ and support to move, which is going to take a whole minute at least.
    -
    -
I implied this but didn't make it clear enough, but you can change your orders.
    >>
    Rolled 2 (1d4)

I also forgot to roll for initiative order. Because you have more a flexible initiative command structure, and you accept the upside/downside of troops taking initiative, you can OODA loop the enemy sorta if you get evens.
    >>
You are free to execute exactly two orders; with an order meaning: a specific order type to a specific group or string of named units you name.

You get 10-20 seconds, about 1-2 Cycles before the enemy can give orders and have them heard, understood.

Units that are pouring on fire, don't get another roll for about a Minute, which is a Fast/Short Turn.
    -
    -
    -
    I'll repeat to prevent confusion.

Cycles are fast, quick, giving an order here, giving an order there, scrambling to do stuff and/or get information. You have to roll to prevent confusion, and you're scrambling to outpace your enemy.

Short Turns/Fast Turns, are a Minute. That is enough time to hear what is going on, tell them to do something, and have them understand you. ----- You may or maynot have to roll. Systems don't agree, I am playtesting, and maybe your orders read as confusing or have a lot of steps.

But generally, if it's just a specific platoon or company doing a specific move or shoot or look, it's almost always an auto success for orders.
    >>
    >>6479144
Also you don't need to roll, I want that to be clear. You already rolled and the dice say you get two clear orders.
    -
    -
And I must loudly stress that if suppressed/disrupted units get hit a second time without recovering, being rallied, being extracted, or something like that...

They straight up surrender, die, or rout in random directions.
