The Allies mostly rolled over in the early stages, but he was stuck with an extremely schizophrenic coalition of “allies” who either had contradictory goals or were basically dead weight. Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Italy all had to siphon off German equipment just to be marginally useful, while Japan was off sperging out in Asia. The Axis was never “Germany plus some relevant military powers” it was Germany carrying a bunch of liabilities some of which could feed them manpower if they could arm them.If he hadn’t locked himself into war with Poland over Danzig, he could have just sat on his hands and waited. Even if we assume the Soviets eventually make the first move and take Poland sometime in the early 40s, Germany is still in a better spot than the USSR. The Winter War and the opening stages of Barbarossa already exposed that a lot of Soviet doctrine and equipment was dogshit. The people pushing those bad decisions were some of the few men who actually had Stalin’s ear. So if Hitler just cools it into the early 40s and Stalin eventually spergs out over Poland and tries to push into Germany, he’s doing it with basically the same flawed setup that already failed the Red Army early in WWII. Meanwhile Germany has had extra time to build out the better equipment and defensive tactics that made them so dangerous once they were on the back foot from 43 onward.Keeping Mussolini from doing something stupid would have also been a major help. The entire North African and Greek campaigns were expensive wastes that accomplished basically fuck all.
