Isn't it kind of sad that one of the greatest modern technological marvels is going to be held back by the childish vices of the Average Person?

juden. i hate these guys

In the near future personal computers will become obsolete. You can still purchase your monitors, keyboards, printers, etc. but there will be no need for an individual to own high end hardware. Data centers will provide all of the computing power users will ever need through the use of cloud computing. Video games will be streamed over the internet and access will be sold to users on a subscription based model. The higher subscription tiers will grant the user access to rent more bandwidth and more server usage so that users can play games with better graphics, really no different from how users stream their favorite TV shows and movies.

This will be a far more efficient use of resources as today millions of personal computers sit in their user's homes collecting dust while their valuable RAM and video cards go unused. When users are not streaming their games then the computing space can be diverted to other operations. There will not be a single wasted kilobyte of computing power using this model and in the long run it will be far cheaper and more efficient for users than having to spend thousands purchasing a new personal computer every few years.

This is the future and it is bright and beautiful.

>>545265541
You hate them because of your nature. This is a case of, as the kids say, "skill issue".
>>
>>545265607
Well, my concern is going to be the amount of legislation that is coming from the reactionary alt media. We're on the cusp of letting another Library of Alexandria burn, all for the sake of our own humanistic ego.
>>
>>545265628
i hate breechloaders too

>>545265597
>One of the greatest technological marvels of all time
>Could literally put an end to currency as we know it, and create a post-scarcity society
>We are actively choosing to reject this, because we want instant, immediate dopamine and gratification, instead of long-term benefits that uplift everyone
Wow it's almost like the Average Person is a worthless pile of garbage or something.
>>
>>545265471
if you watch the clip in context you'll see they were talking about the movement from cloud AI providers to local models and he was specefically saying how it would be a shame if every computer in the future would need to have a shit ton of ram (like imagine every computer / laptop needs ~128GB RAM) in order to run these local models while most day to day work (gaming, browsing, spreadsheets, whatever) would only utilize like 5% of it.
He is just referring to how it would be a very inefficient utilization of resources.
>>
>>545265914
Wow it's almost like it's all a grift and it will never reach past a stage where it can create it's own self improving code on itself; rendering your gay little fantasies about a utopia ruled by ai as such. You're just a faggot shill who has stake in it. AI will only get progressively worse because it will end up eating it's own slop outputs overtime.
>>
>>545266651
>Wow it's almost like it's all a grift and it will never reach past a stage where it can create it's own self improving code on itself
It literally can, by definition.
>>
>>545266739
>saar it true i readed jew say it
>>
>>545266998
>The thing that's literally designed to self-assess and correct itself?
>Yeah, it's not gonna self-asses or correct itself!
>>
>>545265914
>ai will create post-scarcity
That's an insane take.
>>
>>545267206
No it's not, you fucking conspiracy-wet-brained retard. Musk is confident it would. Thiel is confident it would. Time and time again, the problem always boils down to one simple fact: people are spoiled and they want their goyslop.
>>
>>545267370
>people who are the primary beneficiaries of AI investment are saying things that support AI investment.
>this means they're telling the big T capital TRUTH.

AI is going to create personal airplanes for everyone that wants them? AI is going to make infinite beachfront property?

Nobody is arguing about material reality or whatever. This is not an abstract idea; we can just create infinite resources theoretically.
>>

I unironically think that some idiots will donate their PC's ram to him.
Normies are that idiot and cuck

you need too much vram to run good AI models, subscription is superior atm
>>
>>545267718

How?

Ah.

You need to learn how to think. Arguing post-scarcity is directly arguing against material reality.
>>
>>545267807
You understand, colloquially, that post-scarcity just means we don't have to worry about food, housing, or work.
>>
>>545267734
Nobody will put anything confiscated from a consumer into a datacenter, it's security risk. Don't know what's on the chip.
They'll just trash it.
It's not the RAM they want, it's you using their services they want.

The logistics of this are retarded, a majority of The US is still running on the same copper wires they installed in the 80s and there's no incentives to upgrade them outside corpo towns.
This will not come to pass because centralized computation will never be convenient enough to beat even a highly outdated setup.
Cellphones each contain a series of computational processors in them, but do you think Apple will stop making a billion dollars releasing a new phone every year because it'd be more "Efficient" to put all the computer parts in a building and increase internet traffic by multiple thousands of magnitude?

No, but somehow it's grandma's fault because she still has a PC from 2008 in her side room instead of renting out the use of a machine she only has to do taxes and click on internet tabloids to a high end piece of Super-RAM when the two sticks of DDR3 her desktop uses, which The Data Centers don't even want and can't even integrate, can operate just fine.

>>
>>545267881
You understand that it does not. You also understand that post-scarcity in housing means everyone has exactly as much property as they please. Which means you are claiming that AI can create infinite beachfront property.
>>
>>545267910
> It's not the RAM they want, it's you using their services they want.
this
>>
>>545268160
I hope you guys understand that, when the population is this openly hostile towards rich people, that kind of makes them morally justified every time they try to use overreach to "enslave" us, right? Like, if I'm an entrepreneur, and I am an important component in America's backbone, why the fuck would I not want to exploit a population that just...randomly hates me?
>>
>>545268216
>You also understand that post-scarcity in housing means everyone has exactly as much property as they please.
Nope, didn't imply that. I'm saying that EVERY human being will have access to a good quality home, not as much fucking land as you want, you fucking mong lmfao

>poat-scarcity doesn't mean post-scarcity!
Post-scarcity in housing means there is no scarcity. Meaning everyone can have exactly as much property as they wish, no questions asked, no money exchanged. This means infinite beachfront property. Do you understand why you are foolish to believe in this.
>>
>>545265471
Anyone who sides with him that isn't paid to is a retard. The types of memory consumers use is not used in data centers and they just collect dust in warehouses. The reason why the price is inflating is because producers are stopping manufacturing of consumer cards.
>>
>>545268427
on the other hand there is absolutely politically chosen kind of local artificial scarcity where they prevent, through zoning and other means from building new homes in places with empty space and demand because they're already personally invested in existing property developments

It doesn't have to be, AI is a technology so powerful that we can simply push past those kinds of people and their schemes and scams.

Local AI is improving exponentially faster than non-local AI.

We have a real rare opportunity right now for a good future and we should grab it with both hands.

>>545265607
If you're not memeing and are serious then you're retarded and this goes against everything we know to be true of both economics and computing, namely that Jevons Paradox has remained true today and also applies to computing, and that there's no need to make computing any more efficient than it already becomes all by itself through Moore's Law and related paradigms.

Think about what the fuck you're actually saying here: that people don't deserve to own 0.5 kg of silicon or consume downwards of ~100W of power to run a device (downwards because it gets more efficient with each generation and node shrink) because some shitcoin scammer who not only thought it would be a good idea to create a consumer retinal scanner to replace logins and passports and tie it into a premined shitcoin so you could pay him billions for his shitty doomed to fail idea on the sole basis that this guy, who can't even fucking code, had "created" ie hired others to make an app that nobody used and was utterly pointless but somehow managed to sell it for millions because he was Jewish (not even an anti-semite but it's simply true) is telling you that silicon is a precious resource (it's not) and that only he and Dario Cloud guy deserve to have all the compute in the world.

Fuck off.
