    OP is moving for work. Most people who move to NYS go to NYC for the big city experience. Usually, people only move to upstate NY to be closer to family (like aging parents). Otherwise, it's not worth the high taxes, dreary winter, and other disadvantages.
    At least OP will have the Niagara Gorge, Letchworth, Finger Lakes, two Great Lakes, Southern Tier, and Pennsylvania nearby. Could be worse. He could have moved to Ohio, Indiana, Illinois or Iowa.
