>no night walk threadAnyone else enjoy a good walk in the dark? City streets or woods?
>>2882554It's a nice way to clear my mind after a long day. Also a way to clear my nuts if I come across a cute male night walker who's smaller than me and had poor situational awareness.
I used nightcrawl all the time but the city I live in now is full of fiends and it's no longer safe to do so. I miss it.
I often nightwalk through some woods, so a bit of both. Bought pic a few days ago and look forward to receiving it and using it on my walks
I need to get a good flashlight. I think I want a metal one so it won't break. I got a plastic one and it broke from being carried in my bags when I travel (by car). Should I get a Mag-lite? Do they sell those in LED now? I had one as a kid. I could use both a flashlight for hand carry because my car is USED and so lacks LED interior lighting so it's a pain to unload in the dark, but I also should get a headlamp for just in case dark hiking - but I have a HUGE head and barely fit in an XL bike helmet - so I want the biggest most adjustable strap possible.
>>2882676The Zebralight above is probably the best flashlight for its size. 85 grams with the battery. It's metal and its internals are potted. High CRI, so easy to see colors and various materials. I prefer to use a flashlight over a headlight for walking because its easier to see depths in roots and such. Should be more than enough for hiking and normal use while being ultralight
>>2882743I don't care about paying more for something tiny or light, I'd rather have something bigger and brighter.
>>2882767I just don't see the point I guess. Too bright will just lead to glare and fucks your dark adaption completely and these flashlights already last for days at medium lighthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3657_4jVkQ
i guess you do pay a premium for the size though, my bad
>>2882554I live in the burbs. There are miles of paved trails near my house that I like to walk on at night. If I’m walking, I keep my light off and just let my eyes adjust to the moonlight/light pollution, but if I see another night walker I’ll shine it at the ground, just to avoid scaring anyone
Spoopy
Its a bit too cold and windy tonight, I went for a short one, but every night is a night walk because I live alone
>>2882554>night walkis basically all my friends and I do these days. I have thousands of photos and years of wonderful memories. in the woods, along the train tracks, rural roads. these days I live innacity and do the same through the city but it's not the same thing, the woods and railroads are nights of absolute reckless abandon and no consequences
Tonight's hike above the city
>>2882554i love nightwalks, in the woods would be great but there are too many brown bears in my area, people get mauled sometimes even on day walks in the village
>>2882554I nightwalk my suburb all the time. I wouldn’t misrepresent it as an amazing /out/ experience because it absolutely is not compared to other parts of the country but it is fairly old, quite affluent, and spacious. That means we have lots of old trees and parks all around. Even the residential neighborhoods have nice trees taller than the houses most of the time. I have a nice flashlight like others have mentioned in the thread. It’s a mini Nitecore one but it goes up to 1k lumens so it’s plenty. It’s a really cozy experience.
>>2883026I'm always paranoid that some retarded neighbor will see my walking my suburb and call the cops. Wouldn't be a concern out more rural..
>>2882675>i bought a flashlight and look forward to using itjesus christ anon please get some hobbies
>>2883282some people like flashlights you abrasive nigger. nta but i collect them myself.
>>2883281Depends on the neighborhood, I guess. As much as it sucks to admit, our area tends to stay “nice” directly because of more aggressive policing activity. Flip side of that coin is that being a nice area makes it safe and pleasurable to walk around at night, obviously. So maybe 5-7 years back there was a huge uptick in boomers trying to call the cops for exactly the reason you described and in a couple of months I got stopped twice. The cops were chill enough about it because I was just on foot with no bags or anything and my ID shows I live a couple streets over but it was irritating. As it turns out, calling the cops on everyone who walks by at night in turn makes it so other boomers can’t have an occasional night walk because they’ll get stopped too kek. After boomers realized this actually affected their own ability to walk around at night, pretty much the entire thing stopped. Haven’t even had a cop slow down while driving by me in years now.
