How do you deal with normgrels who refuse to buy any proper gear to go on an actual hike after asking you to take them with you? I fucking hate these people, if you can't even bother with buying a decent pair of boots don't even ask.

tell them what equipment they need before they go with you, stop being autistic...
people like OP genuinely believe you're not truly /out/ until you spend thousands of dollars on gear, but in reality the ultimate /out/ist are like hermits and homeless people
    >>
    >>2880033
    >autist without a working theory of mind is upset that others can't read his thoughts
    many such cases.
    >>
    >>2880033
Did you try telling them what they would need instead of assuming they would know inherently?
    >>
Also why would you take noob hikers on a trip they'd need specialized equipment for?
    >>
    >>2880041
Gotta keep the death rates up or mountaineering loses clout
    >>
Those guys all seem finely dressed to me… what are they missing OP?
    >>
    >>2880033
how would you feel if you hadn't had breakfast this morning?
    >>
    >>2880033
    >muh booooots
This says enough about you, OP. You probably spend $2000 just to sleep in the forest 200m from a trail. I can go barefoot and it wouldnt even bother me.

    >>2880112
wow you're such a tough guy
come back once you've gone full naked caveman without any clothes to show everyone who's boss

fuckboys should stick to car glamping at the designated spots

What do you define as a decent pair of boots though OP. My gf was insistent on me buying a 400 buck pair of meindl shoes before she took me to the alps for the first time (Max 1700m+/- per day) and I refused. I used my bottom of the line Columbias cause I wanted to get rid of them and surprisingly I survived.

I don't give a fuck what people wear when theyre hiking, but it is hilarious to see yuropeans wearing their slippers, capri pants and their little faggy purses.
    >>
    >>2880033
Try teaching them? If their interest is legitimate they'll listen. If not then yeah thry can fuck off.
    >>
    >>2880033
Gear wont stop people from being retards. I went on a out trip with a guy once for his first time and despite him bringing all this gear and over preparing, bringing even more than me, he managed to get such bad sun burn that he gave up and went home after a day and a half.
He didn't know that if you're gonna spend all day in the sun, that you'll probably burn. Even more so at higher elevations.
    >>
    >>2880033
    >boots
You don't need boots to hike.
Stop acting like a fucking woman.

    >>2880116
Different anon, but I like to hike up mountain streams nude. The only thing you want are a pair of crocs or water shoes and some insect repellent to ward off the horseflies.

    >buying a decent pair of boots
Um, no thanks, I'm into grounding so I do all my hikes barefoot. Yeah, I live in a city and all my hikes are done at dog parks. Why is that important? You wouldn't get it, because you aren't as connected to mother gaia as I am. I've always done my hikes with nothing but my pouchie and I've never needed more than 2 clif bars and a bottle of fiji.
    >>
    >>2880033
What is proper gear, really? Like tell me what activity youre doing and what is absolutely necessary to bring along.
Proper boots? Thats only critical for mountaineering, any other circumstance they're just a nice thing to have at best.

    A decent rain jacket.
    A proper amount of water.
Good shoes...that you're not wearing for the first time.
Food, and not only chocolate bars.
Some basic first aid kit (plasters and alcohol).
Anything to protect your head from the sun.
    Maybe bear mace.

    Pic unrelated

An that is just on top of my head.

if you don’t have quality shoes and socks you will be suffering a lot. socks matter too because some are like sandpaper on long walks and have so ridiculously tight straps that it messes with blood flow
    >>
    >>2880033
    Define proper gear?
    Gortex?
    Spandex?
    Nylon and polyester?
    Wool?
    Whats wrong with denim?
Whats wrong with a pair of all leather loggers?
People not knowing is why it ends up sucking. Not learning from the knowledge you gain with blisters or how to pack is why outdoors sucks for most.
Is a guy in a hoodie jeans and an alice ruck a normie?
What if he knows what hes doing?
I think youre more concerned with retards than the normal person who knows theyre not gunna die on a 10 mile trail.
In which case youre a retard and hate that others have fun.
Ill wear blue jeans work boots and a huk fishing sunhoodie just to spite you next time and theres nothing you can do.
Quit being a faggot and be more selective with the retards you spend your time with.

everything except shoes and socks is optional do what you prefer but the ten miles back will be awful when bad footwear grinds your feet to such pain its hard to walk

Don't worry, they won't ask again. Autistic retards make threads like these and then wonder why they're lonely. Kek
