I live in a commie shithole and wamt to go to the few natural areas left. However, since hunting bears or lynxes is prohibited, the areas are full of them. And because or retarded laws, i cannot own any weapon capable of launching a projectile with enough force to actually penetrate a target. Are there any ways i can be surely protected from getting mauled, or any gadgets i can make to defend myself? Anybody here had a bear or other large predator encounter without ranged weapons?

Yes, my eye-flash cloak. It's a wool cloak/cape with a pair of bright yellow eyes painted/sewn on the inside.
Predators have a rule where they only fight and attack as a last resort, if they think they can win. My invention uses this fact as an advantage, making the animal think it is immediately outclassed and not worth fighting. When you flash the inner part of the cloak, the cat or bear will think you are a giant (huge) opponent, and not worth the trouble. They will pee themselves running away, probably crying.

can you get a can of bear spray? if not go with that other anon’s eye cape
    >>
Bear spray is good but be sure to get a few cans to practice deploying it
But anons cloak sounds great, think you should add a speaker to play skinwalker noises when you unfurl the cloak

    >lynx defense
literally just kick them in the face like wtf it's a lynx not a cougar or tiger
    >bear
bear spray is generally considered very effective. Look up how to use it, and keep it on you either in a sling or holster, not just in your backpack because by the time you get it out it's too late

Air horn. Get a loud one. Will scare the shit out of them.
    >>
I don't think lynxes attack people

They do, they jump at you from high up in a tree. Not extremely lethal but they can kill you if they get your neck.

Seems like a good idea, i already wear my wool blanket as a cloak so i will just pin two bright reflective pins onto it with an eye pattern.

Is there any specifics to buying bear spray? I have a police pepper spray, is that different from proper bear spray? Any ingridients that should be listed for it to work well?

Here's what i got right now

    >Is there any specifics to buying bear spray?
Make sure you get actual bear spray and not just human pepper spray- they are 2% capsaicinoids- they shoot farther and are designed to create a big fog rather than just a short stream into someone's eyes.

I'm honestly curious what sort of ways you can passively deter bears besides keeping food and trash airtight and sealed. I've heard of electric fences, anyone know how the Inuit defended themselves from polar bears historically?

I know some places far up north actually ban bearspray because it gets so cold that the propellent in the can makes it not work anymore.

I dont want to kill bears I just want them to fuck off, If I buy some taxidermy heads cover them in blood and put them on sticks would this work?

Wondering how many heads on spikes it would take for bears to get the message?
    >>
    >>2878859
Light and sound pollution do wonders. Get a high powered flashlight to blind them an a megaphone to flood the forest with angry scream mp3's. The bear can't see you and immediately fears that your way larger and more terrifying than you actually are.

    >>2878868
I like your cracked out moth man cosplay dude. You could have pockets at the end of your cloak for hiking sticks to extend your wingspan.

    >>2879866
The Inuit knew the bears migration patterns and hunting grounds. Often they just respected the territory. On the off chance a bear attacked they would just actively hunt them with bows and spears.
    >If I buy some taxidermy heads cover them in blood and put them on sticks would this work?
No because bears smell the blood and think they have a free meal. Their opportunity based hunters that eat a metric ton to hibernate.

    Bear Spray.

I live in Alaska and had 3 bear encounters this week while hunting. I walked up on the first one within 20 feet and he took off running, the other two I saw on the river bank about 50-60 feet from me and I turned and left before they saw me. I have sprayed bears several times when I'm fishing and they try to steal my salmon.

    >bears smell the blood and think they have a free meal
True, bears even eat other bear carcass
    >>
Literally just take some bear spray with you if its available. If it's somehow not available (would be suprised) just do this depending on the bear

    >black bears
fight back if attacked if not try to scare it away

    >grizzly bears
    play dead

    >cool tip
try to remain calm no matter what as sudden movements can startle a bear
    >>
In my own former commie shithole we only have brown bears. I carry a spray, but what do I do if I'm sleeping and they mistake me for a doner kebap in a tent
    >>
    >>2881626
Spray them when they rip a hole in your tent. You'll get sprayed as well, but it's better than being mauled to death while screaming like a faggot
    >>
    >>2879242
give us one! documented case thats not a 5 year old alone innna woods
    >>
    >>2878859
    spear / polearms
if you can run it through when it charges
otherwise youre probably going to get rekt
