Where did I take this picture today, are you able to get the exact location?
It shouldnt be to hard. Post orginal pictures of your recent outings that you took and if you did not go on any recent outings, think about why you keep making excuses instead of just going out even if only for a couple of hours on a small hike.

When coming back to this board it feels like 80% is just larpers. There are almost no original pictures taken anymore and 50% is gear threads. lets try to change that and post real pictures that you took.

today i led an expedition to my suburban backyard, hiking a couple hundred feet through grassy terrain, with a total elevation gain of an inch or two above sea level. it was pretty intense, and i'm glad i was able to make the trek back to the house afterward. thankfully, i packed a tarp so i didn't die of heat stroke out there.

yeah these i've been always interested by people in these threads who just post pictures for the sake of posting them. i think i would do so too if i posted from my phone. but they are good threads i lurk them once in a while and i enjoy some of the pics

and sometimes people do comment on them. once i did post one because it was pretty good and someone mentioned that they liked it and i felt good for that

What gay nigger country do you live in where that is considered easy. Ratings for hikes only go up to t6. Anything above that would be a purely rock climbing rating. And desu most t5 and t6 will have sections with III or even IV in them.

I don't understand the appeal of muh waterfall when it's a tourist trap that literally has a trail leading up to it. If you can't strip naked and go for a dip in private, then literally what's the point? Pic related, I went to on Sunday. I estimate probably only a dozen people even come here in a given year. I had to hike two hours up the river. The only other way to get here would be to bushwhack through steep tick-infested forest for a while.
    >>
    >>2874683
its kinda fun to observe the social scene on a hot summer day at a popular swimming hole, but it depends on the crowd

That waterfall, no offense, does not seem worth a 4 hr hike.
    >>
    >>2874685
Technically it's a secret waterfall. Probably only a bunch of local oldtimers know about it. There is no indication of its existence on the maps, nor on any online resource, since there isn't much written about this river. I didn't even know I would find this waterfall. It was a nice surprise.
    >>
    >>2874686
There's lots of cliquey facebook groups centered around secret waterfalls that are gatekeepy about locations. Hate that shit.

I have found some waterfalls that are barely extant - i.e. there's one or two sources on it online or it just is marked on a map, I assume they just aren't gonna be that huge, but still interesting. One used to have a railroad running past it, too bad that isn't still in existence to mitigate the 3.5 mi each way walk, though it is along an old rail bed, but sometimes those get eroded and it becomes a series of 100 ft climbs to eroded ledges to get above a river. I don't think the forest service knows. It's just marked on the topo map as "falls". It's probably small - 10 ft maybe. It's not a major creek, but it is steep, it's basically one of the highest drainages leading down below the state high point. I asked the guy whose dad runs the local mountain education program, he looked clueless.

Pic is from a 5 mile hike i did with my 7 month old and wife. Compared to where I used to live the directions on these new hikes are way more vague and easy to get confused by, in this case I luckily made the right choice, we were walking with another confused hiker and we got to this fork and we reasoned what we thought of each paths possibility and he went on the other because he knew it was backtracing and wpuld guarantee he got back to parking lot, fortunately the side I chose was the correct path and waaaay shorter than retracing our steps

Yeah. I usually try to chain together multiple hikes in a day. A couple of short ones and a longer one with some drive time in between that gets me in somewhat of a direction I need to go. Yesterday I did Mt Komonji in Kitakyushu. It’s only half a mile but you gain 1000 ft of elevation to get to the summit. Going up wasn’t that bad, just tiring, but going down is hard on the old joints. It was gorgeous up there though.

Anyone can paint. The trick is to not get caught up in the idea that you’re going to paint a Jan van Eyck or an Edward Manet right off the bat and just enjoy the process. This was my second ever painting that I did from a photo I took a while ago. I just took my time, accepted my flaws in my ability to render, and had a lovely afternoon sitting on my porch painting it.

It's the middle of August, and everything out is as dry as a camel's pu**y. We have warm summer days, and the nights are comfy, too. I love wandering old farm roads and relaxing in meadows with beautiful views. Sunsets feel like honey on the lips. It's as if the sun is saying, "See you tomorrow," to assure you that you'll see the sun the next day. A hope.

The world is beautiful. I have a place to sleep, plenty of food, and some money. I have a few friends and have been with four women in my life. But I don't want to be here. This isn't for me.

Sometimes, after years of growing, the tree completely dries out. People say it's still a tree, but in reality, it's no longer there. It's just another star in the night sky.

Took a shot at the presidential traverse on labor day. The wind was pretty wicked, and I made an amateur mistake that cost a bunch of time (took a wrong turn onto westside and went around the summit of washington before turning around to summit up the crawford path). Ended up doing the northern presi and bailing down ammonoosuc where we had staged a car. Madison, Adams, Jefferson and Washington was still an awesome day though.

Went to Rush Creek Falls, a fun bushwhacking adventure. Fell on my ass four times getting down the mossy canyon

Quick Falling Waters/Bridle Path loop, even on weekdays I still saw 6 groups of people.

Was feeling great so I decided to push a bit on speed, finished the loop in slightly under 4 hours. The new reroute sucks though, completely bypassing the waterfalls and that sketchy water crossing under the overhang. There was a guy who took the cloudland spur and looked like he was bushwhacking up to the main trail.

Green Leaf Hut was boarded up for the year, but it looks like they were getting propane flown in and trash flown out which was pretty cool to see. Crazy piloting skills, it was pretty windy.

Hey I plan to go up Lafayette or the Kinsmans this Sunday if you want.

Here was a night time hike up Monadnock last weekend.

I'll be wageslaving but take some pics. There was ice on the trail just below little haystack but the the whole way down bridle was clear. Wouldn't hurt to bring microspikes.
