It's an E-crutch. Dumbest shit imaginable. It's real sucka hours chat. Can't wait to hear the bugman take about it! Yippiee!!!
>>29137612>E- Clutch editionSmartest and most convenient shit ever, it removes the mechanical effort of actuating a high pressure multi plate clutch directly. This allows the rider to focus on precise actuation without fatigue. Go Honda.

Soviets had semi-automatic clutches back in the 60s, a very simple mechanism of a single cam connected to the sihfter rod.The advantage of a mechanical linkage was that it'd pretty much always work.
>>29137623>everything must be hard!! Not soft!!!You have never had sex with a female they are very soft and squishy, feels good.
>>29137625>The advantage of a mechanical linkage was that it'd pretty much always work.Yea but we're discussing a HONDA.

You guys like adventure bikes?
>>29137810Anal log > analog
>>29137810I smell fingolia from a mile away.
Was there ever a bike equivalent to the incredible halo cars Japs made in the late 80s/early 90s? I know Honda made some pretty cool shit back then, like the VFR, Pacific Coast, and Goldwing. I'm just wondering if bikes ever got even cooler than that.

>>29137778Usually in my fantasies I’m having sex with a hot woman, and I have a lot of money. Yours are very strange anon
Should I buy my brother's WR250F? I've only ridden a TTR125 before.
>>29137823>>29137825Woahhhhh, thanks anon. The NR even has a partly digital dash, which is one of my favorite features of cars from the period. The Goldwing had one too, but not backlit, so not as cool.
>>29137866If your brother loved you he would give it to youAnd not just the bike Hubba hubba
>>29137838I think this is the actual use case for not needing to manipulate the clutch but theres a better answer, and its electrics
I’m really loving the striple, it feels like a cheat code for everythingYou can just reach your desired speed for a corner in a few seconds, if you wanna come in extra hot you can pull a 60-0 in no time so there’s less stress about overcooking it. Parts of the road I’d lose traction on before are just mild bumps now, I feel glued to the ground at all times. It never feels like I’m pushing the bike past what it’s comfortable doing, it’s always happy to do whatever I ask of it. I still gotta get a new front tire because this one is 9 years old and square so it sorta feels like steering a supermoto with how wide I have to keep arms to maintain pressure and keep extra focus ok how the tire feels, it’s slipped on me twice now. Found out the previous owner swapped the gearing from 16/46 to 15/47 so gas mileage has been pretty shitty but I’m having fun with it until I change it back
>>29137911Why do you fags stick your knees out lol
>>29137919To look good for the camera, duhBut I do also like moving my body over for specifically these hairpins since they’re pretty steep incline and anything to shave off some lean angle feels safer, especially on a bike I haven’t totally dialed in my feeling for yet
>>29137919>why do you ride with good body positioning
Quick shifters and auto blippers are an unnecessary and expensive crutch, 99% of riders would be better and faster if they just gitgud at rev matching and floating gears.
>>29137945what about slipper clutches?
>>29137911It's such a fun bike. I bought one for myself over the summer and it just feels so good at everything. I absolutely love it!
>>29137931>good body positioningTbf for street riding the position used by the fastest riders (at least here) is usually something close to old school racing positions where the chest is over the tank and the lower body is shifted over. Control is king and you’re a lot faster when you’re able to quickly brake, steer, and accelerate without moving your whole body as well as being able to more deftly address traction loss>>29137956Right? I was really convinced this bike was overhyped but when I started looking into livable middleweight bikes for myself I was shocked by just how much it knocks out every other bike in its class
>>29137951Crutches, why can't you just shift-lock and back it in
>>29137958Same here. I gave it a test ride at a dealer more out of curiosity than anything else (I was there to look at a speed twin originally) and I was blown away with how nice it felt. I didn't want to look at anything else after that and ended up buying a used one just a couple weeks later.
>>29137969Haha, the test ride blew me away too. Triumph is really gung ho about all their dealers offering test rides and I can see why. Was honestly shocked when I showed up and the dealer just gave me the key and told me which direction is more fun then told me he’ll “see me when I’m back”The only bike I’ve ever ridden that I liked more than my FZ6, couldn’t stop thinking about it for like 2 months after the fact. This thing is fuck ugly but goddamn if it isn’t a barrel of fun
>>29137968Slipper clutches do still allow for backing it in, it's just more controlled without having to think about it.
>>29137931>just let go of the bike broYou cant ride for shit and you can't shift.
>>29137928>But I do also like moving my bodyOh yea tell me more >>29137612Good thread, cunt
>>29137945>gitgud at floating gears.Main reason I will never buying used honestly. Imagine buying someone's manual transmission learner bike for msrp + tip.
>>29137678I.changes my crf450rl's oil and filter last nightOh and i also gave some dalit my voice impressions of his benchod scamming ass when he bothered to send me an ai white bitch representation of his acamming assCalled him a bloody bastard benchod bitch bloody i did, and curry fingers because hes trying to scam me
>>29137911Lots of good times with mine as well. I got the R model since I'm no street enthusiast, but like you said it just feels like it's good at anything. Haven't done too many trips on it yet since I recently had a son, but I did ride it 3 hours home from where I picked it up (it was also freezing cold, could have picked a better time really) and a 5 hour loop around rainier.
>>29138006>I.changes my crf450rl's oil and filter last nightthis never happened since you dont have a bike
>>29138007>road6
>>29137958>chest over the tankComing from dirt bikes I basically started doing this intuitively (you keep your body perpendicular to the ground most of the time) but I figured it wasn't "right"
>>29138012Honestly turning like this feels so much more stable for me in like 90% of situations.
>>29137998>just let go of the bike broWait what? You don’t let go of the bike at all. When you’re hanging off to one side you only need the higher leg to grip the tank, the other leg doesn’t need to clamp down to keep your grip because you’re leaned over. Nobody ever just falls off the bike>>29138007>I got the R model since I'm no street enthusiastI got the RS model because I bought it used and it happened to be an RS lol>Mt RainierOh shoot that sounds like a blast! Just take a short vacation for my sister’s wedding driving around Oregon, the north coast is absolutely gorgeous I can’t imagine how nice Washington must be (when it’s dryer)>>29138012Depends who you ask and where you’re at. I’m just some scrub on the internet sharing what I’ve observed. But when I say chest over tank I mean a neutral position like the KTM rider in the pic keeping chest perfectly in line with his bike. Haven’t seen anyone counter lean dirtbike style and be fast, usually that’s just Harley guys and Tenere guys (and supermotos of course)
What is this screw for in my cylinder head and should I leave it alone?
>>29138050Does that go towards the outside? Might've been used to plug a hole for some sort of sensor
>>29138054I'm pretty sure it goes into the water jacket. Please don't tell me that's there I need to fill the water from.
>>29137820>Jap halo bikesRC51 undoubtedly in the top 5 if not top 3
>>29138055Wait, so that's like the cylinder head under the valvecover? You fill your water from the expansion chamber obviously, that most probably is either left over from casting or for a sensor, I'm betting on the former. They probably used a screw instead of a core plug
>>29138058That makes more sense.
Arai or die.
>>29137968Backing it in always looks like the scariest/ sketches shit ever. Well above my puny skills.
>>29137951That's still a mechanical manual clutch dumbass>>29137968Only difference you'll notice is less engine braking.>>29138069You fear what you don't understand and as such will forever remain in place
>>29138082>That's still a mechanical manual clutch dumbassI never said it wasn'tHe was listing components that help the rider shiftdumbass
>>29138069>above my puny skillsIt's probably not tbf, feels exactly like a little back wheel skid on a bicycle when it happens, not going to pretend im doing it on command but it has happened to me a few times with aggressive downshifts on shity roads
>>29138086>Implying mechanical manual slipper clutches are remotely comparable to shit that rev match for you automatically and take all skill expression out of itNgmi retard-kun
>>29138097slipper vs no slipper clutch is comparable if you've ever ridden hard in the twisties or on a track
>>29138099That is correct. However you found it comparable it to auto blippers and quick shifters. Which is retarded.>NYET BIKE IS FINE
>>29138103I think autoblippers and slipperclutches fill the same skill issue, just at different levels
>>29138097I find it wild that this is the debate we're having. In all my time riding, I've never thought of shifting as being particularly hard or a real form of skill expression.
>>29138106You would be suprizedJust listen to the clankers when thwy roll up to a stop ffs, some peolle just abuse their gearboxes and this is considered normal to the majority of normalfagsI find it most pronounced on harley boomers and supersport larpers of the insta- both have no idea how to drive or ride
>>29138105>They bandaid fix the same skill deficiency Might float that idea, but that's changing the topic. A slipper clutch is nothing remotely the same as a auto blipper. Slipper just makes the kinetic energy transfer smooth, auto blipper does all the work for you like a videogame >>29138106Right? You're not alone, shifting has always been like breathing. You just do it second nature after you gel on the timing.
>>29138112It's pretty sad to think about all those bikes in the hands of owners who have 0 executive function to comprehend wear from the abuse they put those rides through. >melt pipes to red hot by redlining the motor like a Latino in a 92' civic >infinite one wheeling, oil starvation be damned>nonstop clutchless shifting, because who needs gearbox internals>chain maintenance? Huh? Tires? Nah bro they too expensive>Why of course I did open headers without a tune, everyone does it! So my bike doesn't need it!
>>29137998moron >>29138012>keep your body perpendicular to the groundgreat way to lowside>>29138106shifting is a major form of skill expression, you lose a lot of time if you botch an upshift on a straight, you lose even more if you downshift slowly.
ALLTHEGEARALLTHETIME
>>29138132Sure, if you're riding on the track. For regular street riding though, I don't think it really matters as long as you can do it smoothly without fucking up your clutch/gearbox.
>>29138120Oh man, i saw some asshole with a salvage h2 motor, no headers, and doing a bump test with ignition after peeling it out, you just see the worst timing and blue fireballs overheating everything, and it skips a beat like every 1000rpm very noticablyThats what passes for SHE RUNS GOOD TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, fucking nonsensicalI also come from the anecdotal experience of trying to teach my friens how to ride and im pretty sure theres no hope at this point of him being too stubborn and or stupid to abandon the boomer wisdom of absolutely zero applicability to two wheelsBut nope, since he had riding fundamentals of equivalent 4 maybe 6 riding hours on a two stroke dirtbike which his cousin limited him to third gear only, that equates to decades of years riding fundamentalsI cannot get him to see through the most modest of fundamentals of clutch controls and ive tried everything- only thing left is a new set of clutchplatea or for sake of simplicity in the fix, an oil change with something better than the former bike's owner of royal purpleIm thinking thia guy is never going to get his actual license before either his health croaks or the alcohol takes him, or he just says fuck it and gets in an inevitable crash because hes the type that saw one boomer newscast say SPEEDING LE BAD and now its programmed into his psyche he can never spees in the city- despite that being your advantage and a life saving skill of say, avoidance and maneuverabilitySeriously, his low speed maneuvers are so shit- at first i was accusing the boomer exam lasy the first time he failed, but now i have seen the exact same things repeated to his test failure notes- deapite objections, recording his riding, asking him to do drills repeatedly which he might zing one of the 4 he cares to attemptAbsolute lack of effort, yeah shes right, this guy should not be on the road without some kind of major overhaul; like 3 fucking wheels and all the safety equipment in the universe type Picrel
>>29137802At first I hated the idea of it, but after learning more about it, E-clutch is basically an upgrade on quickshifter, you can still customize it later on the bike so it just behaves like one instead of going full scooter. There's even also a mode for you to not be a tard and stall the engine on 1st gear, it sets on neutral kinda like a scooter, and then you can just give it gas and goes on first right away. Helps with rush hour traffic for burgers that arent allowed to filter, lmao.>>29137812Adds an ADV tire set and you're done, ADV bike it is now.
>>29138132I don't think you're any more likely to low side that way
>>29138132You cant ride or shift
'ku
>>29138209Babytalking pedo
>>29138148Yeah man you totally get it, kinda strange how few anons are on this frequency when it was just common sense back thenIt's gotten worse because people don't read primary sources or get off their high horse to practice the more tedious aspects to riding. The mechanical ignorance is akin to the magic box theory where people have no comprehension to how a thing works mechanically yet have expectations for said thing to do XYZ demands. It's a combination of laziness and ignorance wrapped in a cerebral poindexter-like inferiority complex like this dweeb >>29138190'It's like an upgrade to the thing that does everything for you'Like this goober talks like he's playing a video game instead of riding a motorcycle. Task saturation is a myth past a certain engineering/design point. If you can't use your hands and feet in tandem then you lack the human hardware required to ride on 2 wheels.
>>29138215Also social media totally filled the new bloods heads with shit and their mental sponges got soaked with frothy piss (tiktok, ig, shorts, the new moto culture stuff etc)
>>29138215>>29138220>It's a combination of laziness and ignorance wrapped in a cerebral poindexter-like inferiority complex like this dweebThen explain the whole function of E-clutch Mr. know it all, I don't ride Honda.
>>29138115>>29138106>>29138105The point of a slipper clutch is to free up brain power during hard braking and downshifting into a corner. That's about it. Auto blippers are similar, not having to fuck with the throttle lets your right hand solely focus on brake pressure.
>>29138232I'm not advocating that everybody should just embrace these and forget the old techniques, but less mental load = less fatigue = more laps put down safely and more learning and improvement achieved safely.
>>29138209Based>>29138211Seethe, pussy
>>29138215>If you can't use your hands and feet in tandem then you lack the human hardware required to ride on 2 wheels.Kys you retarded preachy snowflake faggot, wrenchlet
>>29138227The whole point to a e-crutch is to make a 100% straight man into a massive faggot>>29138232>free up brain power>Yeah, use LESS of your mind to corner Anon, all a slipper clutch does is prevent the rear wheel from locking up when YOU FAIL TO DOWNSHIFT CORRECTLY It's a buffer for failure, not an enhancement for cornering or whatever silly brain load meme you're yapping about (if your brain shits the bed for cornering, let alone high stakes limit pushing track riding. Then you shouldn't be on 2 wheels. No amount of tech will save you from yourself and no amount of tech will mask your lack of foundational skills)
>>29138245>chudding out over hand eye coordination being a requirement to rideMust've struck a nerve too close to home eh?
>>29138249>The whole point to a e-crutch is to make a 100% straight man into a massive faggotOk, so then we should be just like you and only ride Harleys and fuck men, totally not faggot behavior like (You)
>>29138254Nah I just think it's funny you're trying to dictate who can ride and who can't, meanwhile you can't shift and ride on unwiped all seasons kek gay ass little control freak tranny
>>29138249If i'm spending 20% focus on line selection, 65% on brake application + braking point choice, and 10% on banging 2-3 downshifts and slipping the clutch by hand into a hairpin on a hard braking zone after a straight, that's 15% focus I could have devoted to line choice and/or braking point and trail braking. All of the guys with slippers racing supermoto are faster than the ones without. It doesn't matter as much on a dry track, but on an even slightly wet or dirty one, it helps keep the rear end in a *controlled* slide instead of chirping or otherwise excessively slowing the back tire. The FS450, Desmo 450, and 450SMR all come from the factory with adjustable slipper clutches because everybody converting motocross bikes back in the day was spending extra to install an aftermarket slipper anyway.
>>29138258>you ride manual so you MUST be a brothurHarley? Who the fuck said anything about crusiers kek. Last I checked my motor still has pasta in it. You such a silly billyYou should be yourself, but the best version of yourself. You know, the version that can be normal and operate a manual transmission without turning into a deer in headlights.

>>29138262>You're making fun of technology! That means you're dictating who can and can't ride obviously!>llllleave my heckin tech alone! Do you call me a tranny because you can't shift or do you just frequently imagine girl cock on the regular?>>29138266Task saturation is a meme and you fell for it. Not reading alladat
>>29138272It's one paragraph dude. If you're claiming task saturation is a meme and yet can't even fucking read a short post, nobody should take you even remotely seriously.
>I'm a "control freak" because I make fun of posers that outsource/mask skills (or lack thereof) to tech nannies
Are Shoei helms really good? Or is it just a brand name cash grab?
>>29138272I'm calling you a tranny because you suck cock daily lol, gay ass wrenchlet. Btw you can't shift for shit.
>>29138273You could write a whole book and it'd be worthless because it's founded off a false premise. If you go here for serious information then you're in for a grim awakening
>>29138278>you have to be the best rider to ride okay!!!Kys tranny, wrenchlet

>>29138282I said racetrack you illiterate fucking retard. Holy shit you're stupid. Kill yourself.
>>29138284>Implying you have to be "the best" to be okay>meanwhile millions of average riders don't hold this positionNgmiYou should rethink riding if you actually believe in that shit kek. Idk how to tell you this, but you don't need to be a pro in order to have fun in corners let alone shifting
>>29138289 Probably missed that part when you started off with the premise of being a faggot on all seasons kek
>>29138290>but you don't need to be a pro in order to have fun in corners let alone shiftingHow would you know? You ride unwiped all season and can't shift for shit kek, every time you shift the revs flare up. Remember that.

>>29138267It's ok pastanon, Honda e-clutch is just a fancy auto+quickshift combo, as for me, I stopped hating on it since its just not for me. I am already good with the clutch alone on my KTM without upgrades because I refuse to give money to any motherfucker for stuff they already locked me on it, and if I had it I still highly doubt I would use quickshifter on a fucking ADV bike, if it was a RC on a track, probably would help, but it just ain't my thing. As for eurocucks brands doing this shit I sincerely hope they get the source code leaked and reverse engineered with shit like claude AI, its for this reason I got still respect for Suzuki making the GSX-R like it is still with all the old shit desu, electronics should be for maintenance troubleshooting and ABS.As for retards buying e-clutch Hondas and crashing, I just see it as a win because these fuckers indeed will be filming it and putting it on tiktok instead of taking lessons, when I had my few last sessions my teacher even made me ride with just hand on the throttle doing hard turns, no left hand allowed, helped out a lot in learning how to balance and lean the bike. I'm saving up to get an Enduro bike later, ideally something like WR250, YZ gets objected since I don't have a truck to tow so it has to be street legal, and I'm not a cityboy, like (You)Kek.

anons I'm considering swapping my NX 500 with a 2019 African Twin. I mostly drive in a big city but I'm taking the highway more frequently, plus I want to do camping.Should I stay with the NX 500 for longer?
>>29138534They are sickeningly expensive. I'd probably get an older GS, V-Strom or Tenere for touring. If you drop it when you're offroading it won't matter. Your 500 would probably get irritating on the highway being smaller displacement.
>>29138538I understand choosing an v-strom 1000cc but how can a GS be cheaper than an africa twin? I never had a BMW so I have no clue
>>29138540An older used one. Iike 2015 or earlier. Africa twins are too new to have depreciated in value.
>>29138540I was looking at getting that sort of bike a while back and you could get a 20 year old gs without TOO many kms for a pretty reasonable price, like half the price of the cheapest africa twin.

Does anyone have experience with the trannie-alp? I’m considering it for my next bike, got a 400 right now and I want something that can at least drive moderately on dirt roads, but I don’t want to go as large as the Africa Twin
>>29138788It's pretty cute I like it (never rode it or even seen it IRL), it's a HONDA it has to be good they are a completely pure company.
You can tell the anti e-clutch autist in an American, the kind of rider that takes his bike out once or twice every week between May and September. Stays garaged all the time otherwise, and barely accumulates anything more than 2-3k mi/year.If you actually ride your bike daily in addition to using it recreationally, then the e-clutch is a very nice thing. Stop and go becomes a lot easier, especially when returning home tired after a hard day's work, not having to fuck around with a clutch is a nice thing.I've only test ridden an NX500 with eclutch, but it's everything Honda claims to be. In a similar vein, that's the reason why I own a 300cc beater Chink scooter for commuting to work and all other errands. The fully automatic transmission is great for this usage, and the underseat storage + top case is enough to hold a week's groceries or store the helmet+rain gear in it.

how the h*ck do cagies drive manuals?on a bike I can slip the clutch all I want, but what do you do in a car? just dump it?
>>29139075They can't tell if I'm wearing my helmy
>>29139075They're nice to everyone, if the videos of people riding through the back roads on youtube are anything to go by
>>29139076Cagies slip clutches too. Often too much. My gf used to ride the clutch with a few hundred rpm at every red light until I literally shouted at her.
>>29139079Gooks only do their best to not appear rude. Do not trust the yellow devil.
>>29139076There's an optimal point of slip/go that people autistically go on about that can save the cluch thousands of miles but you can slip as much as you want. You'll probably break it but you can do it.
>>29139076Slip it. A small blip on the throttle, start releasing the clutch, converting the stored kinetic energy on the flywheel to forward motion past the engine's idle speed at first gear, and then reapply throttle. It becomes second nature after sometime, so much that you can take off on level ground without even touching the throttle. And on inclines, you won't have to use the handbrake, quick transition from brake to gas and proper throttle application results in taking off with minimal clutch slipping smoothly.Do note that clutch wear is a function of temperature created on it during extended slipping with high RPM, normal takeoffs create almost no wear to the clutch. Motorcycles, due to the nature of their multiplate clutches that are cooled in oil, almost never wear their clutches, it's the reason slow speed technical riding keeps the engine at steady RPM, and you use the clutch lever to control power to the rear wheel as needed (clutch in to tighten your curve, clutch out to straighten up).
Anon can you explain to me the logic. Why would you want to buy GSX-8R with pisstwin if there's Gixxers with 650, 750 and 1000 cc and proper engines? Like what should happen to your life so that you open a local marketplace and look specifically for 8R?
>>29139106Probably doesn't wanna pollute as much
>>29139070>my fursona: the cure to tetanus
>>29139106The 8 series really makes no sense. In my shithole, it's engine is to big to be lams bike. So no beginner buyers.Power it sits in the dumbest place, especially when you make bikes in same capacity. In technology they do has a thumbs up for what it has.Price it falls flat. For an extra $4K AUD you can get GSX-S 1000 and most people when they get their unrestricted licence they will just go for the bike they want.Probably the reason they made the SV7.
>>29138788>doesn’t want an Africa TwinTriumph Scrambler.
>>29139106Maybe people liked their SV650 they had a long time ago but wanted something with a more modern frame, better brakes, but otherwise similar riding characteristics? This shouldn't be that hard to understand.
