This is was the beginning of the end for car interiors.>1997>for some reason, Toyota decides to put the dash in the middle where it's not in the drivers view>it's retarded, which is why nobody copied this for years>for some reason it becomes cool now with the Model 3 to not have a proper dash where you have to take your eyes off the road to see anything>now it's become the standard even though it's objectively inferior and a cost thing
>>it's retarded, which is why nobody copied this for yearsignoring the fact that the C1 and C2 corvettes did it because that's how things were back in the day, honda did it, suzuki did it, nissan did it, gm did it (saturn), renault did it, citroen did it, bmw did it (mini)it's a nice cheap way to make a car for lhd/rhd markets without having to make an entirely different dashboard and you're a dumb retard who needs to lurk moar
>>29134303>for some reason, Toyota decides to put the dash in the middleThis was always simply cost cutting dressed as "innovative design". When your shit is symmetrical you can make it work for both left AND right hand markets for free. Also>This is was the beginning of the end for car interiors.car journalistoids kept calling Japaese cars "sterile" and "boring" so they snapped and tried retarded things
>>29134303They did it so they could make the RHD and LHD versions share more of the dash, saving production costs on a car debuting significant new technology (the hybrid drivetrain) so if it flopped they weren't out as much money.
I for one can't wait until passenger airliners have a giant ipad in the middle of the cockpit and no other buttons other than a stick, throttle and rudder pedals. I'm sure that will be superior to what we use now! I mean it works for cars, right?
