Why do people hate the C8 so much? I think they're pretty cool. I think the "exotic" owners at butthurt that their $500,000 car doesn't offer an exclusive experience anymore, and I think average people are angry that the top of the line corvette is now 250k. I kinda get it, but isn't the C8 a really good middle ground?
>>29134275It's ugly and the engine is in the wrong place
Who are you referring to as people and they?I like the C8 except for the electric door handle and software shit. As a car, anytime a company deep dicks the exotic market, I celebrate.
>>29134275The only people that hate the ca Corvette are coping super car manufacturers whose 500,000 dollar one off cars are getting absolutely clowned on by a car you can buy for $74,000.Well them and the mentally retarded.>>29134279>Rear mid engineThere's literally not a better place for it unless you have a perspective of practicality in which case it goes front mid. Kys retard
>>29134287Corvette engines are supposed to be in the front so you're wrong
>>291342751) It copied Lamborghini's design language.2) The Corvette is a front engine car. If you move the engine to the rear, you need to give the car a new name.
>>29134292>It just is that wayGo back to reddit you bus riding retard
>>29134299>it you bus riding retardThere's no need for ESL rage. Corvette is a front engine car and I simply will never change my mind
Didn't the guy who designed the Corvette wanted a mid engine layout but didn't get the green light for it?But either way, every generation of Corvette is about packing the most cutting edge engineering and tech GM has to pursuit the highest possible performace in a realistic production car. I think the C8 did just that, so did every other generation.
>>29134298>Porsche 911>Mercedes CLK>Renault Clio>Twingo>VW Beetlehave entered the chat
>>29134307Pretty starts out with a mid-engine design and then eventually because of practicality reasons it gets thrown in the front. Even Dodge Viper
>make it look weird so it can have a trunk for boomers>boomers still walk into the showroom, try to fit ALL their golf clubs in, and get madKind of sums up the car. It's trying to be a super fast tryhard sports car and a boomer luxury car at the same time and it does as well as you could ask for functionally but it becomes slightly uncool in the process. Like why does a 2 seat MR car with an NA engine weigh 3600lbs like a 2+2 sedan platform Camaro with roughly the same engine, what was the point
>>29134311let's not forget the first car ever made, the Benz Patent Motorwagen, was also rear-engined.FR cars are actually the aberration, however the benefits of a balanced chassis and ease of maintrenace overcome RR's packaging and performance benefits.FF cars are just RR cars with oppositional defiant autism
>>29134292>>29134279>>29134298>>29134304The C8 is peak Corvette, alongside the C2. C2 was peak front engine beauty, C8 is the reinvention of the car built to embarrass rich assholes.
>>29134275I don't like it as a Corvette, but I do like it as an American sports car. I think they should have kept the Corvette as a front engine vehicle, focused on lightness and suspension, and then called what's now the C8 a Zora instead. I also think they should have made the hybrid models as Cadillacs, since the weight penalty and move away from rwd purism would have opened the door for more luxurious appointments and Cadillac was ramping up its own racing programs. Give them a XLR again.
>>29134275Ugly front, shit proportions of the roofline, rear feels too short when ccompared to the front, should be lower and sleekerChevy shouldve copied caddilac cien 1-1
>>29134437flying buttresses would have been interesting
>>29134432If they do exactly thatthen they either have to kill the Corvette brand for ZoraOrThey need to spend extra money to figure how to modify the chassis and interior to move the engine from mid to front, AND have two products competing in the same segment. The chassis will be compromised if its designed to take two different engine layouts. Two different chassis will either make the risky halo car investment more risky, or both of those vehicles will see a massive price hike.
>>29134275Nobody in real life hates the C8. You are letting online autists and envious poorfags poison your mind.Unless you're talking about taking the engine out, that part fucking blows
I haven't heard of anyone hating the C8, it's just when a vehicle is too expensive nobody cares about it because nobody drives it
>>29134275I don't hate it except for being sleepy paddle only. Such a shame.
>>29134726I see more C8s than I see Miatas of any generation combined. And this is from someone actively looking for Miatas on the road.
>>29134275The rear half is ugly and no manual option. Other than that, it's alright.
>>29134275It's just very trite and trend chasing. It's striking, but not in a way that could be considered timeless or special. The design looked outdated when it came out even, since it's just '2010's jagged supercar' verbatim. The only remotely cool thing about them is that you see them more often than those supercars, but that's not really a compliment.
>>29134275looks like a gta riced out car
>>29134275idk just don't like it, too busy with too many lines/creases and at that time that look was already on the way out.
>>29134437Cadillac makes great cars now but I just cant get into their design language, its just so bad. How do you make such a great car like the ATS-V and make it look like shit lmaoGuess its just a taste thing? For the corvette, C5 and C6 are peak corvette design. Beautiful car inside and out.
>>29134275I'm just completely uninterested in cars with two pedals. More for everyone else.
>>29134979I agree. I also don't really like the blackwing. My issue with the blackwing is that it's too damn small and too damn big at the same time. As a gran coupe it would have been better; it's roughly the size of the M8 Gran Coupe, but has less backseat headroom. Amazing engine and super fun to drive, but the back seats add a lot of weight only to be miserable for anyone over 5'8"
>>29134275This redneck hillbilly dogshit gets utterly and I do mean utterly raped by Porsche. Best remember that Cletus Brownson.
>>29135273Your miata isn't a Porsche retard.
>>29135279Cletus detected. You get RBP daily redneck best remember that.
>>29135273the base 911 carrera starts at 137,000 before a single option, and it's still a dual clutch. you can buy a c8 z06, spend thousands getting it paint corrected and wrapped/protected, and still have money left over to stuff in the glove compartment of your flat plane V8 targa top sports carPorsche is raped
>>29134275You spend too much time on the internet.
>>29135285>and it's still a dual clutchWhat transmission you think the C8 has?
>>29135301exactly, the z06 has a price advantage on top of the top line feature parity. only a moron who hates money would buy an automatic non-gt 911 snoozefest
>>29134275ppl hate the corvette here specifically cuz some guy bullied the entire board for like 10 years, bragging about how it was faster than everything every chance he gotmay godzilla rest in peace
>>29134275
>>29134275Looks like an angry Pokémon
>>29135620Comfy
>>29134275I think that most of the negativity is coming from people who feel that switching from FR to MR is a betrayal of the model's heritage.Well... the negativity that's aimed specifically at the C8, that is. There are also those people hating on corvettes in general, regardless of what gen they are, for whatever reason. But that's not new.
>>29135282I don't see Porsche. Cope and seethe faggot, you will never own a 911.
>>29134287i like corvettes a lot but lets be honest, the only c8s that are clowning a half million dollar hyper car are themselves a half million dollars, zr1x etc
>>29134979>>29135245The ats-v looked great. the blackwings are ugly, they look just like the new honda accords. it sucks because the cts-v second generation is one of the most aggresive and timeless car designs ever.
>>29135870What junkyard fucking list is that, Radical SR8 LM went 6:48
>>29134275Best performance per dollar machine on paper, by a far margin. I'm a hyper-Jew extreme utilitarian miser cheapass so I've been tempted. But the design is dogshit. Not only the ugly looks, incoherent design front vs rear, outdated Transformers looks, but also functionality wise. The doors open too wide, and the sharp triangle on the door juts out even farther, so it can't be reasonably paired with a 1-car garage.I have to buy a house with a 3-car garage just to be able to drive the car and open the door without hitting something. And I'm a 130lb sticklet. The bones are alright, but I prefer FR layout burnout machine hoonmobile nigger-chariot.
>>29136089>The doors open too widenigga stop flinging the doors open into the walls
>>29136089It looks pretty cool actually. Looks better than any modern Ferrari. Actually, my favorite thing to do to troll C8 owners is to say "nice Ferrari" and when I see a Ferrari owner I say "nice vette"
>>29136060no ZR1x even fully optioned costed anywhere close to half a million.
>>29135301The transmission in the C8 is sorta shitty. Feels like a ZF 8 unless unless you manually shift it with the paddles.
>>29134275I've always thought it has an ugly exterior design. They rushed the process of designing it and went straight to adding tacky details to it. It's not like American car companies can't make good looking supercars. Look at the Ford GT. It's perfect. Saleen S7 is great too.
>>29134275>Why do people hate the C8 so much?Automatic only and it looks fugly.
>>29134275It's cool, but the "mid-engine corvette" novelty wore off. I've realized it looked better with the engine in the front.
>>29134275> Why do people hate the C8 so much?Because they’re butthurt poorfags. The C8 is the most fun I’ve had in a car since my buddy taught me to drive stick in his e36 M3 years ago.
>>29134275It's very disproportionate. And they could have made it much less so, judging by the internal structure.
>>29137685I had a period where I was renting cars every couple of weeks. Long story.Whenever I got my hands on the C8, I immediately vibed with it. I'd slide behind the wheel of a random one, and it immediately felt right.I've never vibed with a car on that level before or since. I think I have to own one at some point. Like I'm destined to it. Like the universe wants it to be mine.
>>29136089>The doors open too wideProblem solved for under $3K.
>>29136871Sure, a fully optioned ZR1X may have an MSRP of like $275k or so, but that's not how much you're going to pay if you actually try to buy one. You try to buy one new and you're going to be shelling out at least $400K if not more with dealer markups. Even used ones are going for $350K and higher.
>>29137863not really the car's fault that it's more desirable than any european exotic.
>>29137743Wow it actually looks cooler like that. It's like a space age baja buggy from an 80s B movie.
