An anonymous poster said my car is a rental because it has a McPherson suspension setup. how can my car be a rental if I own it and have the title to it?
>>
Yeah but shall we really regard the opinion of some retard who heard on a youtube once that mcpherson doesn't gain camber so he parrots it mindlessly and when you show him a blueprint of mcpherson suspension so that he can see for himself that it does indeed gain camber he just seethes for 100 posts because he lacks the IQ to understand how pivots work but then he makes sure to never bring up camber gain again when he makes his next 9001 mcpherson threads?

Personally I think that buck is already broken.

>hit up local rental lot
>get one of the many base model V6 Chargers off the lot
>ZF8 + bulletproof 300hp rentastar + double bones up front/multilink rear
What's even a rental? Are we going to backpedal and it's also now gotta be a manualfag car too?
>>
It's nonsense spouted by some retard. He spends an obscene amount of time arguing with people about a non-issue that nobody else cares about.
>>
>>29133482
for decades we were all told they you need to upgrade your car for whatever new technology, turns out it was all bs and engine power and grip is all that matters
>>

It means McDonald's own your clown car.

>Mfw a car not made to be sporty has a not sporty suspension
>>
that guy is so annoying that the only filter I have for /o/ is the word mcdonalds
>>
>>29133539
>>29133543
Yes but I notice you are no longer claiming it doesn't gain camber
>>
>>29133583
*I* never said that. You have me confused with the other Anonymous.
>>
>>29133533
Wishbones predate Macphersons in cars by over 15 years. It's not "new tech," Macphersons were a cost saving measure.
You said grip matters? Wishbones give you more grip in corners, Macphersons are for cost savings.
>>
>>29133590
Yes my little buck but does mcpherson gain camber?
>>
>>29133592
It briefly goes negative then swings positive.
Wishbones go negative and increase the contact patch progressively.
>>
>>29133593
>It briefly goes negative then swings positive.

Congratulations, you're still as wrong and retarded as you were the last time you made this thread.

>how can my car be a rental if I own it and have the title to it?
It's designed to be a rental, when you look at it from an engineers pov, buying a rental car is retarded, if a car is fundamentally designed to be rented (donalds, auto, plastic engine) then buying it outright is wrong and bad .
>>29133597
911s are rentals exempt that one model they recently made after I complained.
>>
>>29133597
So why did RUF go through all the trouble of designing wishbones for their version of the 911?
The 911 has maccas because the boxer engine is wide.
>>29133596
I don't make threads. Pretending that a well-known truth isn't true just because someone on the internet that you don't like said it is a very emotional and feminine thing to do. Sometimes people you despise can be correct, it takes maturity to judge an idea on merit alone.

Why are Macs not sporty and Wishbones are? Not even Wishbones are really used anymore with track cars using semi-bespoke setups, and Macs main problem is height profile but not exactly mechanical perfomance.

No retard, why do you think they put it on Hyundai's and other rental cars kek, wrenchlet
>>
>>29133753
>Not even Wishbones are really used anymore
That's because all the cars you as a poorfag deal with are cheap rentals.
>>
>>29133806
Well that's a very compelling argument my little buck but we can see by looking at the blueprints that it does indeed gain camber, so it seems you must be mistaken.
>>
>>29133518
If it has less than 8 cylinders it's definitely a rental.
>>
>>29134002
"Fewer," not "less" cylinders. ;P
>>
>>29133853
It dooes indeed gain (positive) camber. You want negative when compressed and the tie rod holding a sway bar to the strut is no replacement for an upper A-arm. You can band-aid macphersons to work very well, but why when you could've just had upper control arms from the start?
>>
File: camber gain.jpg (39 KB, 749x499)
39 KB JPG
>>29134007
You seem to be confused little buck
When the bottom of the tyre comes out further than the top of the tyre, like it does when mcpherson strut compresses, that's called negative camber.

I know I know it's an easy mistake to make when you're new to suspension - negative camber is the one you want, and positive camber is the bad one!
You can't explain that...
>>
>>29134010
It gains negative briefly then rebounds to positive under hard cornering. Double wishbones go negative in a relatively linear fashion the more they're compressed.
>>
>>29134002
If it doesn't have at least 12, it's a rental, on the same tier as those gay bicycles and escooters people throw into rivers.
>>
>>29134013
Surely one could design the suspension such that it reaches its maximum travel before hitting that rebound point
>>
>>
>>29134007
>could've just had upper control arms from the start
lel
Most top of the line suspension designs don't have upper control arms like with double wishbone. They have a lower support arm and instead of an upper control arm they instead have a lever conected to a pivot point within the car body frame where the dampner/coil is situated, not inside the wheel arch like double wishbone.
>>
>>29134024
>Lever arm suspension is top of the line.
Oh, you're just trolling. Maybe if you said multilink I might've bought it.
>>
>>29134013
and yet we can see from the suspension blueprints that it gains negative camber through the entire intended compression range, very strange - perhaps you got that one wrong bucky
>>29134016
mcpherson haters don't want you to know this but it's actually extremely easy to change the ammount of camber gain and the range of the camber gained by simply moving the top pivot - and manufacturers simply set it at their desired rate from the factory.

>>
>>29134410
the string method is only a tool to measure alignment. you can use it to measure alignment for any type of suspension. you surely can't be such a wrenchlet you think that double wishbones are too hard to align at home, right?
>>
>>29135058
How are you gonna measure camber and caster with your string alignment you gay ass Honday driver. Remember that you will always get a toe-n-go and you will never get a print out because you fall for the "printers down" meem.
>>
>>29134466
>AND do their own alignment
You can only adjust toe on your rental spec McDonald's car kek, take that shit back to carmax, Wrenchlet
>>
Idk why this anon is so upset that there's a suspension simplification that performs comparably to double wishbones. It's an elegant solution. Enjoy your extra weight bone boy!

why do you keep going on about going down on jose's toes?

to measure camber with the string method, you get two strings that are coplanar and parallel with the body of your car. you put them slightly offset from your wheel face and measure the wheel distance from the top and bottom string, giving you two points. you now can calculate camber

to measure caster, you use a bubble gauge. theres a billion other ways to do it with string but each method depends on your suspension geometry.

post car fag.
