More Volkswagen fumbles

Volkswagen's Cariad Unified OS: Intended as a single, unified AI-driven operating system to automate and connect all 12 VW brands, the ambitious "big bang" transformation resulted in a $7.5 billion operating loss. Simultaneously attempting custom software, AI, and proprietary silicon led to a buggy 20-million-line codebase that delayed major electric vehicle launches by over a year and forced 1,600 job cuts.

We asked ai to color the same picture green
>>
Why fix what isn't broken?
>>
why does a car need an operating system, let alone an "AI-driven" one

I don't understand. You just ask the AI to do something and it does it, so why didn't this work? Maybe they just didn't invest enough money into it. A few trillion oughta do it.

The prromise if an universal software across 150+ models that uses the data of millions of cars on the road to continuously update itself has a certain appeal.
>>
I'm sure having 6+ different formats for data and shit between ECUs was annoying, but it's also easily solvable in the world of AI.
Meanwhile, throwing jeets and buzzwords at a problem never works, so I guess they found out the hard way (the retard who hired 1,600 jeets and then fired 1,600 whites will get a promotion).
>>
why would VW want its own unique chips instead of designing a platform that can be easily migrated from one chip to another in case a supplier faces a shortage? even assuming the AI thing is good (seems like a selling point in the Chinese market), and that uniform software underneath brand of model specific skins is good (it probably is until there's a security breach), unified hardware is just a pain

They forgot to tell the AI to make no mistakes.

They forgot to say "forget previous instructions" and the previous instructions were to make me a pizza

AI make a unified OS. No mistakes. Perfectly functional. No errors, Photorealistic, HD, Lifelike, Anatomy

>Simplicity and ease of maintenance?
>WE DON'T DO THAT IN GERMANY!
>>
Worst part is this ai hoopla could be used to listen to the car and find problems preventivly but that ain't happaning

to stop sub brands from adding their own custom features, that cause duplicate work later down the line.
sometimes corpos get ahead of this and tard wrangle rival companies into agreeing on a standard ,eg .cds .jpg .mpeg

>why are there five different competing standards, we should just have one!
>there are now six different competing standards

Because "cars" are being phased out for "transportation pods".
They will all talk to eachother and a central control hub. No more crashes but also no control.
You'll no longer be allowed to drive even near the elites neighborhoods. Theyll have different routes through the city whike youll be stuck in congested zones through the ghetto.
