    >my town has their annual Halloween parade today
    >which usually includes boomers driving their vintage wheels
    >holy shit man, there was an actual 57 Chevy sedan a pillared one too not a hardtop
when's the last time you ever a non-2 door 55-57 Chevy? probably never given boomers' well-established anti-sedan hateboner (every other car in the parade was 2 door i want to add).
    >>
    >>29133193
Why do boomers hate sedans so much?
    >>
    >>29133194
Because it reminds them of when their mother in law would sit in the back and throw shit at them
    >>
    >>29133194
idk man, in Scandinavia people love vintage American iron but everyone wants sedans.
    >>
    >>29133193
    >when's the last time you ever a non-2 door 55-57 Chevy?
*ever saw, sorry for the typo
    >>
    >>29133193
the owner probably got it cheap because the coupe and convertible models were priced into the stratosphere by boomers. no joke btw, you can get tri five Chevy sedans quite cheap as they've never been desirable compared to the 2 door models. this is true for 50s-60s cars in general.
    >>
    >>29133199
even better if it's a six cylinder one
    >>
    >>29133208
boomers hate those too. btw if you had a six cylinder tri five Chevy it was still the prewar flathead six as they didn't update it to OHV until 59.

Boomers hate 4 door classic cars.

I remember my dad sold is 2 door and kept his 4 door.
My dad said the 4 doors would end up being worth as much or more than the 2 doors.
His boomer friends were hilariously upset about it.
    >>
    >>29133193
Looking at this thing you can clearly tell it started as a 2 door and the sedan was an afterthought. Some other cars are the opposite.
    >>
the tri five business coupe is the most valuable body style as most were destroyed on the track and there are few of them left.
    >>
    >>29133193
from a performance and efficiency POV, the coupe models are the fastest and lightest weight and get the best gas mileage
    >>
    >>29133199
That's dumb as fuck. The only thing you can do in these things is putt around slowly. Why not take passengers?
    >>
    >>29133567
    >The only thing you can do in these things is putt around slowly

if you had the I6 since it was then still a prewar flathead engine
    >>
the 57 Chebby was one of the few late 50s cars that was put together pretty well and not a total pile of crap which is why they have a high survival rate, especially compared to that year's Ferd and Chryslers

I passed an A-team van clone today when I was heading into town.
Hell it looked so good it could have been the real thing. Wish I had a dash cam.
    >>
    >>29133514
should add because they had no back seat and were very lightweight, so they were the perfect race car and most didn't last too long
    >>
    >>29133194
unironically >>29133195 they hate anything that's a "family car" because it interrubbs they're drivigbn thyme GOBBLESS
    >>
A lot of resto shops wouldn't even do sedans.

any vintage car. even the prewar luxury boats like Packard, Cadillac, you can find 4 door models cheap while the roadster etc ones are unobtainium

Sedans are NPC boxes. They're for old people and people who feel nothing inside.

    Hello
Rare, through natural selection of history they have become both a surprise to see, the most affordable, and a collectors item in and of itself, and there are appreciators
    >>
    >>29133194
i dunno but what i do know is that it works great for me because a lot of sedans i just like the shape of. 60s chryslers particularly, the 2 door hardtops just looked really weird with the c-pillar being skinny at the bottom and fat at the top. the 4 doors looked more natural and being cheaper is a great bonus
    >>
    >>29133194
it's actually a psyop i started to make classic cars easier to buy
    >>
    >>29133716
Chrysler was known as a sedan company back then and they sold fewer 2 doors than GM and Ford.
    >>
I like to see awesome cars
But wtf does classic cars have to do with halloween?
I swear the boomers are the most insufferable self important retards second only to millenials
    >>
    >>29134048
hey who cares anyway? just enjoy the cool old cars and don't think too hard into it.
    >>
The miata came out closer to the '57 Chevy than to today... o_O
    Woah, dude, I'm old.
    >>
    >>29133193
the Chevy designers didn't even like the thing much at the time and were mostly just disappointed that Ford outsold them for the first time in 22 years
    >>
    >>29134048
Did you not grow up in a world where grandma took out the good china for Thanksgiving?
Did you go to church in grubby jeans and an Iron Maiden t-shirt or nice slacks and button up dress shirt? (In your case just replace "church" with "court appearance").

    >when's the last time you ever a non-2 door 55-57 Chevy?
I actually did see one a few weeks back at a museum. Typically I dont lookout for tri-5s; I go to a lot of car shows and there's always so many at each that I've started to block them out. Lovely cars to see in the wild, but totally overblown at shows. Meme models.
    >>29133194
    >Why do boomers hate sedans so much?
I don't know but I'm somewhat glad they do; it'll make my entry into classic car ownership much easier. Boomfartoids can keep their Nomads and Bel Airs they want 80 grand for, and I'll pick up a 4 door for less than 10.

The other car from the parade that particularly stood out was a mid-70s Grand Am with the squeeze plastic beak.
    >>
    >>29133567
the coupe versions of these cars have the same rear seat room as the sedans they're just harder to get in and out of
    >>
don't look up 50s car accident photos if you just ate
    >>
    >>29134824
nothing wrong with tri fives, except that 90% of them are V8 Bel Air coupes and convertibles when back in the day most were pillared sedan models with dog dish hubcaps and I6s. it's kind of a misleading idea of what the average 50s car was actually like.
    >>
    >>29135014
i think sedan models have a lower survival rate and seen more as disposable appliances.
    >>
the pillared models weigh less than the hardtops

    >>29133620
    >always whitewalls
what's funny is if you look at vintage photos of cars most were actually using blackwall tires
    >>
    >>29133194
The back seats remind them of their kids, who they despise.
    >>
    >>29135112

my grandfather had a 57 Ford Fairlane, utter shitcan that rusted apart in 3 years. that was an infamous year for Ford Q/C.
    >>
    >>29135122
Ford sold more cars that year but they had a low survival rate+lack of performance parts+Y-block not being very good compared to SBC.
    >>
    >>29135090

Seriously nigga? I think its pretty universally agreed that white walls look good on 50s cars. Hardly a jeet opinion.
    >>
    >>29135090
most of them look like this. cars are usually plain-looking shitboxes in neutral colors with blackwall tires. car show boomers give you a misleading idea that everything was a pink and red two tone Buick convertible with whitewalls.
