I've been driving my 2012 Nissan Altima for over 10 years now. I'm looking for a new car. Need something as a daily driver.
Any recommendations welcome.
>>
wait for it to break. if you can stomach an altima for 10 years no point stopping now
>>
>>29131817
Anything you get will be a downgrade in terms of reliability, these have been proven nigger tough which is a standard only a few manufacturers have ever managed to achieve. I think the only other one is dodge.
>>
>>29131818
>Wait for it to break
That's exactly why I made this thread. I reached 132k miles on it about 9 months ago, and ever since I've been having shit constantly need fixing.
I'm trying to prepare for that inevitability.
>>29131821
>Reliability
It has taken me from point a to b and across the US twice. Has been my daily driver for over a decade. So I cannot deny this point.

My budget for a new car is 46k, any ideas? I was fucking around with the idea of the new Nissan Z.
>>
>>29131825
Nissan Z sounds like the best car for that amount if the space is right for you. If you can charge at home, go electric.
>>
It's a hard time to buy a car right now. Used vehicles are overpriced, and new vehicles are full of spyware and nannyshit that makes driving them awful.

If you can find a great deal on something made before 2019, that would probably be the best - but unlikely. If you are buying something brand new, the Mazda3 has a good engine and transmission. Hybrid Camry is a solid car that will last. Avoid the Accord, both the turbo and hybrid have gasket problems. WRX could be a fun daily if you like shifting your own gears.
>>
Unironically Miata... while you still can.
You can get the Z if you want, but a twin turbo engine is a twin turbo engine. Unless you know how to maintain them or are willing to pay more to maintain them, stay NA.

>Mazda3 has a good engine and transmission
I like the ones with the NA 2.5L. Not the most efficient but they're very hard to kill short of crashing it.

Outlander Sport / RVR

Benefits:
>4x4
>Higher off the ground if you live in pothole area or get a lot of snow
>2.0L Naturally aspirated port injected
>Made in Japan
>Simple controls

Cons:
>CVT but no reported issues with them

To everyone in the thread. This is the OP.
I've decided to go with a 2026 M240i xDrive BMW in the Thundernight Metallic (Purple).
It's above the budget but I want this car bad.
Thanks for the suggestions.
>>
>>29131825
Having to maintain a car is part of having a car. You do not want anything newer. Trust. Besides replacing a car because maintenance came due is boomer tier behavior. If the chassis ain't rusty and you don't need to replace the entire drive train them fix your damn car.

The CVT itself is the issue. Imagine willfully making the weakest part of a DT a fucking rubber band.

Going off my last post in order from replies.
>>29131938
>Best car for that amount if the space is right for you.
I did a test drive with a Z, and while it is an absolute blast to drive, it lacks the space I need unfortunately. Gorgeous car however. I just need a little more, I move around a lot, and travel light, but not that light.
>>29132307
>nanny shit and spyware.
I did a test drive of the Beamer I've decided upon, and the biggest turn off was the touch screen climate controls, and the cybernization of basic settings. So I agree 100% with you, but.. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
>>29132765
>List
The Durango GT 2026 was a serious contender for me, what a spacious beast of a SUV it is, with that V8. Damn, it came close to the Z and this Beamer. But the Miles to the gallon turned me off. If I had a family to drive this would be my pick 100%, great suggestion. A cooler minivan imo. Great SUV.
>>29134695
>Outlander Sport/RVR
Mitsubishi has nothing but great reviews in my experience. This fits right in with my "settle" category right next to the Mazda CX-30. Good all rounder, solid parts, and well put together, not too flashy. But I'm a bit of an egoist, and after driving my beatup Altima I want something that speaks "I'm cool" even if I'm not.
>>29134773
You're not wrong brother. I've spent over 7k in maintenance on my Altima in the last year and half. It's had major issues and my retarded ass somehow avoided a recall. Which is why I made this thread, ontop of the maintenance cost.
>>
>>29134780
Still you'll have to spend a lot more in repairs to reach your budget for another car. Best to hold onto that nigsan as even that will be worth gold after it goes classic. Not much else worth having after 08 anyway.
>>
>>29134787
>Hold onto it.
I'll certainly be holding onto it as a backup, the insurance is basically nothing for this thing, and it'll work out as a
>incase of massive fucking emergency
Vehicle.
Ontop of that, I'll probably just give it to my oldest nephew as a gift, his first car. He's turning 9 this year.
>>
What kind of car are you looking for? Fuel efficient? Fun to drive?
> it lacks the space I need unfortunately
What about stepping up to a mustang or challenger in terms of size? Or are coupes a no go?
>>
>>29131817
Cars are for high school girls. When you’re ready to be a man:

GMC Sonoma (1994-2004)
Nissan Titan (2008-2015)
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (1999-2006)
Honda Ridgeline (2009-2014)
Mazda B-Series (1994-2009)
Ford Ranger (1998-2011)
Suzuki Equator (2009-2012)
Toyota Tacoma (2013-2015)
Nissan Frontier (2011-2019)
Toyota Tundra (2007-2021)
>>
>>29134767
Great car but BMWs are kinda overpriced IMO.
>>
>>29131825
Get the outgoing Q50 sedan.
>>
>>29134777
They no longer use rubber bands and have chains instead. Hard to avoid CVT on smaller vehicles now. Make sure to keep up with the CVT oil changes and they will be ok.
>>
>>29135124
Well that's good but I'm still keeping my h pattern. Can they at least repair cvts now cuz the one I had that broke was just full bin and replace. At least if I fuck up in the 5 spd I can just plug a new gear in.
>>
>>29135148
Even if they have improved over the years, I heard its a lot more expensive to swap out a CVT. No matter what an old school transmission is best but consumers still buy them so they get away with it.
>>
>>29131817
Just get a Sacco era Benz or a STRAIGHT 6 E39, E92, or LCI E90 already
>>
>>29134767
You must have saved a fortune driving that Ultima
>>
>>29135153
Consoomers have no idea that all cars have a CVT now. It only sells cuz they don't know any better.
>>
>>29131817
Fk7 hatch civic. Any trim.
