30kmh is unhinged
>>29131610>OP Image>"Toronto: The Canadian City For Immature FAGGOTS!"Charming.
That is below idle speed for lots of cars
Why 30kmph, why not 5kmph? Think of how many lives you could save.
30mph is fine for a neighborhood
>>29131610Out of all the fucked up things to complain about in that god-awful nanny state, a reasonable speed limit in neighborhoods is what you pick to complain about? Good, Mohammed and Ranjeet shouldn't be able to fly through a quiet neighborhood in their subsidy-leased Model 3's without consequences.
>>29131633>Mohammed and Ranjeet shouldn't be able to fly through a quiet neighborhood in their subsidy-leased Model 3Why the hell would a lower speed limit be the thing that magically stops that?
>>29131633>If they were speeding before, surely the change will mean they won't be speeding nowI guess Canada doesn't teach math.
>>29131630It's kmph.30 kmph is 18 mph.
>>29131610I don't live in Toronto but I have to go there for work sometimes. I hate Toronto and everyone in it. I drive like a fuckhead when I'm there to punish the denizens of that dump. If I saw a 30kmh sign I'd do fucking 10kmh and brake check every 10 seconds. Toronto deserves a nuclear holocaust.
>>29131610I a mountain bike being driven by a teenager on level ground can go faster than your speed limit. Your speed limit is too fucking slow. Also, people are just going to stop paying attention to speed limits. Cops don't patrol residential neighborhoods like that, and people are just going to stop giving a fuck.A law either needs to be actively enforced or it needs to at least meet all parties halfway. Otherwise, no one's going to give a fuck
>>29131651>he doesn't know about speed camerasSukhdeep will just drive without a plate if you do that you'll get pulled over and fucked by the long dick of the law.
>>29131665nta but in Ontario they banned photo radar last year. it was illegal for ages, then the libs brought it back for over a decade, then Dougie outlawed it after people complained that it was just robbery (which it is).
We have these cucked speed limits in school zones including when school isn't in session. I just speed through them, I especially like dodging all the traffic calming crap they throw up
>>29131637>implying shitskins know maths

>>29131622no it's not
>>29131610rare toronto L. for a place that hates public transit so much and does it wrong on purpose to own the libs, they sure do hate cars too all of a sudden
>>29131651Police frequently patrol my neighborhood looking for poor and homeless people to bother since it’s a wealthy, non-gated community just outside of downtown. I’ve been pulled over twice in my LeSabre and then they just let me go when they realize I’m not a drug dealer like everyone else with this car and that my address is worth 300x what my car is. We have a 25mph limit and I’d fully support lowering it to 20, fwiw.
Isn't 30km/h normal for residential areas?
>>29131896where im at it's usually 40-50
>>29131903Do people ride bicycles there?
>>29131908i guessthere's no dedicated bike lanes but the closer to the CBD you go, the lower the limits are. and there's a lot more bike infrastructure too.
>>29131910>no dedicated bike lanesin the suburbs, or at least, they're very rare.
>>29131896everywhere ive ever lived residential zones are usually 50, but glhf ever hitting that if there is traffic
>>29131610I pity the poor soul in this stroller, having to grow up in a 30km/h area :(
>>29131945Yes, *that* is that kid's biggest problem in life.
>>2913192550 is the limit for major city roads with clear lane markings.

>US>Avg home on my street is well into the 7 digits>No sidewalk, no bike lane>People jog in the road all the time, as do I>30mph speed limit, everyone drives 40-45>No one complains or cares at allCommon courtesy to your fellow man can replace rigid rules and regulation. Reciprocity, you want rules for people not like you? Then those people will want rules for people like you. It's an arms race of creating more and more rules out of hatred for your fellow man.
Honestly sometimes you guys are every bit as bad the left when it comes to flying off the handle over every little headline without actually looking into it at all. You'd think Toronto was putting 30km speed limits across the entire city. It's only certain highly dense areas that you frankly don't need to be driving fast down anyway. You shouldn't be going 30mph down a street like this ever, any where, for any reason. Plus, these places already had 40km speed limits anyway. Going 6mph slower down three blocks of a residential street takes you like an extra 15 seconds.
>>29131958Those look like 30mph (35 actual) roads to me.
Japs did it too last summer
>>29131958>boilingfrogs.pdf
>>29131644most cities and states are 20mph unless posted otherwise. 20 is reasonable for a neighborhood, especially when most people go 5+ over anyways. lowering speed limits at terminal points of a trip do save lives and make for quieter neighborhoods while negligably affecting travel times. you can still go 70 on the highway, its just now you have an incentive to route around the neighborhood because of the speed limit. cars and cagers are a blight.
>>29131958>You shouldn't be going 30mph down a street like this everI agree, 60mph minimum is much more reasonable.
>>29131967boiling frogs until ur kid gets blindsided by some bimbo soccer mom cuz she couldn't see ur kid running out from behind one of those parked cars and the massive hood of her curb rashed escalade.

>>29131976It's not playing "in traffic". It's a residential suburb.
>>29131965on le togue it makes sense to impose harsher speed limits because they have dick all for shoulders and if you speed and fuck up you go flying off a cliffin a residential neighborhood 50 is a fine limit. you never hit it anyway because you should be driving carefully, but if it's 1pm, sunny, and there's no traffic, you still have plenty of braking distance and long sight lines and because muh parking minimums you dont see a ton of street parking that hides chilluns and ebi*ers
>>29131997It's not for the "touge", it's for residential areas specifically, but it's okay when japan does it
>>29131999>it's okay when japan does itYou're having delusions. No one said or implied that it was okay for that Japanese prefecture to do it. 99% of us will never drive or even go there so it's not a concern.

>>2913239824mph is slow too bro. It's not like they're trying to do something insane like cut the freeway limit in half. It's an already low speed in the first place, and now it's just a tiny bit slower. It makes a nearly imperceptible difference to the driver. "Imperceptible" means something you don't notice btw

>>29133656>>29132455civilizational suicide
>>29133621You don't need bike lanes in a 30 zone.
I get the annoyance at the concept of arbitrarily lowering limits, but as someone who grew up on a small side street (where these bullshit 30 limits would apply), it's somewhat reasonable. you can't pass another car without ducking into the parking lane slightly, and there are speedbumps/blind intersections, and hidden stop signs everywhere. 30 vs 40 is almost irrelevant on this roads. these aren't wide ass suburban streets where 30 would be laughable >>29131666>then Dougie outlawed it after his staffers and daughter kept being ticketed nice try satan. he only got rid of them because they directly impacted him, not because people complained (he left them up for years, remember). they were gay as shit, and good riddance to removing the cash grab, but get your facts straight
>>29134240Speeding tickets are a fucking cash grab. There is no reason I shouldn't be allowed to go as fast as the road allows me. It's these nigger cyclists and busriders getting in the way of actual commerce and industry.
>>29132019I think those low speed limits make sense when you consider how narrow their streets tend to be in residential areas, and same here in many cities in Europe: >>29131951You just don't want to keep blasting through places where your visibility ain't shit due to closely parked cars and people strolling around cluelessly. But making the whole city like that is pure idiocy for sure, incompetent fucks and geriatrics just shouldn't be driving if they can't do it safely at speed.
>>29131644Why are they doing such a specific speed?
>>29134582>You just don't want to keep blasting through places where your visibility ain't shitthe thing is while people may generally suck at driving, they will always drive at whatever speed they're comfortable at. if a limit is set too low, everyone just disregards it and that creates even more of a risk of a collision.whereas a limit that people feel is too high, most of them will actually drive slower and more cautiously as a result. the remaining people that speed regardless, well, you were never going to be able to stop them speeding in the first place.
>>29134953Until the police sends them a ticket.
>>29134953Yea good point about people driving at their comfort level. Traffic engineers sometimes do things like narrowing the road, swapping road surface to cobblestone or introducing speed bumps (yuck) to work around this. IMO it makes sense only in areas with lots of pedestrians and cyclists or whenever there's a dangerous intersection coming up.
>>29134960in my cunt they just use the loicense of foreigners that are just here for a holiday lol
If you have a functional police force and court system, speed limits are completely unnecessary.>but what if someone crashes? They or their insurance pays for the damages.>but what if they permanently injure someone? Then they or their insurance can pay the victim restitution for the rest of their life.>But what if they can't afford it?Fuck 'em. They can go to a work camp and create the necessary value.>But what if they kill someone? That's called vehicular manslaughter, and you go to jail for that.>This will unfairly target certain people! No, it won't. The rules of the road are the same for everyone and physics doesn't discriminate. Motor vehicles are capable of enormous amounts of damage and if you can't handle that responsibility, then you either shouldn't drive or should be duly punished when you fuck up. It's that simple.A crime requires a victim. If I drive fast, who is the victim?Fucking nobody, that's who.Picrel, my girl's car got rear ended by a fat lolberterian dude a couple weeks ago. It's been a huge pain in the ass to make sure we're made whole.
>>29135113>If I drive fast, who is the victim?Everyone who doesn’t want to live under a permanent death threat idiot.
>>29135113>A crime requires a victim.it does not and no law of any land is prefaced with thiseven if you do commit a crime with a victim, the case is not "(You) vs [VICTIM]" it's "The State vs (You)"
>>29135182If the consequences are appropriate, this causes idiots to be filtered out and player characters to be careful. >>29135206Fundametally, it does. Anything more is authoritarian bullshit, which is unfortunately the norm in Western nations.

>>29135240>Fundametally, it doesproofs?
>>29132082Who are you quoting?
>>29131610nice. would be better if it was 40kph like europe, very reasonable residential speed.the big issue is enforcing it. most north american roads outside of the east coast cities are too wide to reasonably expect people to drive that slow. once we narrow roads it'll be a lot more pleasant for both drivers and /n/iggers
>>29135182>I LIVE UNDER A PERMANENT DEATH THREATNot a big enough one apparently.
>>29131635upper middle class whites are extremely sheltered and cannot comprehend that someone would ignore or flagrantly violate the law because they personally would never do it. >b-but.. that would be morally wrong..? the sign says slow down so they simply MUSTit explains a lot about their voting habits as well.
>>29131958nobody actually does the speed limit on those roads because the only people who drive on them are the people who live on them. suburban roads like that are designed specifically to "calm traffic" by disincentivising through traffic. that's the purpose of zoning, by the way. to make living spaces slower and calmer and safer. we already solved this problem a century ago, and now libshits are having to reverse-engineer these solutions because they threw them out in their desire to create faggy little "euro-style" mixed-use urban areas. well, now we have 19th century-style urban decay, caused by the exact same problems that led to cities like London and New York being filthy hellholes back then outside of the ultrarich areas.
>>29135240>walking on sidewalk, get liquified by someone losing control around a blind corner after going 75 in a 25"consequences of your actions bro, shoulda been more cautious
>>29135604>the whole world must suffer because of my crippling paranoia about a one-in-a-million hypothetical eventthe /n/igger mindset
>>2913543630 is the standard in Europe.
Speed limits should be integer multiples of 25. On a quick glance it's possible to mistake 30, 50 and 70 but 25/50 and 50/75 are clearly distinguishable and deciding between 25 and 75 is basic common sense.
>>29135246so then just drive at the speed you're comfortable at...if you feel the speed limit is too high just drive slower and let faster traffic pass you
>>29135616imagine being this level of retardedyou literally dont even know how to read a speedometer
>>29136091I think he doesn't know how to read road signs. If all limits were based on multiples of 25 you wouldn't need signs at all, you'd just say oh a 1x1 city street it must be 25 here's a big 3x3 with stoplights it's 50 now I'm on the highway it's 75.
>>29135614There are many things that are "standard" in europe that other places want zero part of.
>>29131610>meanwhile in the U.S.A. my state rep literally campaigned on RAISING the speed limit to reduce commute timesFeels good to be American bros...

>>29135113>That's called vehicular manslaughter, and you go to jail for that.Yeah, that's cool, but that won't bring back to life the killed one
>>29131610So it's just on neighbourhood and residential roads? That's literally nothingburger, 30 kph speed limit on streets like pic related is already a thing in most euro countries.
>>29135798>so then just drive at the speed you're comfortable atI think we're talking about the pedestrians in these residential streets anon, them being harmed or killed is not an appropriate consequence.
>>29138062which is why you design the road to be unpredictable/uncertain. if there's lots of places where you can't really see and someone could just dart out at any moment, people will slow down.
