I wish they would offer a V8 for this thing.
>>29131453Toyota finally got the styling right for the new Land Cruiser. It looks like a luxury version of a classic Land Cruiser.
>>29131460Yeah it’s just missing the solid front axle, nothing different than any other slop SUV at this point
>>29131453Same, a Land Cruiser should have a v8, no exceptions. I like the body style eaually to the 80 series, and aside from all the techbloat I like the GX a lot. Fucking shame.
Why should it have a V8? So you can get to Costco quicker?
>>29131483Unlike Land Rovers, Land Cruisers are reliable & will last decades easily, people will be buying these used for offroading in 10-20 years.
>>29131490Okay, that doesn't suggest why they need a V8
>>29131453cough cough
>>29131453why? so you can go 180 mph?
>>29131470I love V8's, but it makes more sense for these to all have i6's>>29131490>people will be buying these used for offroading in 10-20 years. That's less determined by reliability and more determined by repairability. The electronic systems in modern cars will probably end up being the worst part of trying to get these cars back on the road in the future.I hope they make carburetor swaps for all these new direct injection engines.
>>29131461Sadly this. It's just a generic mallcrawler luxo-barge. Anyone buying it is buying it because they're the "tough" guy at their faggot office corporate job.
>>29131461It's grim when >does dis cah hav apple cah play???is where new buyers priorities lay
>>29131506
>>29131490>>29131498current US Market Landcruiser and GX share the smaller platform with the Landcruiser Prado, which has never in its 40+ years of production ever been offered with a V8. the 349hp Twin Turbo V6 in the GX is the most powerful engine ever offered in the Prado series.
>>29131514Van V6's are such a cope engine. The should either be an i6 or v8
Everything they make is just a sad imitation of the modern GOAT. They will NEVER make another FJ because we're not allowed to have anything nice anymore.
>>29131453V8s for the Sequoia and Tundra, and n/a V6s for their larger sedans and minivans and even the 4runner and Tacoma would be nice.Insane that Toyota basically replaced every (reliable) V8 with a shitty V6 turbo, and every (reliable) n/a V6 with a shitty 4cyl turbo.>>29131483So you can get to Costco continuously, many, many times over without a hitch until the frame rusts out. The new motors are already proving not as reliable as their older, more basic shit.
>>29131516Toyota actually did resurrect the Land Cruiser FJ in 2026, but they don't sell it in Europe or North America.
>>29131546bruh
Fuck Toyota. I hate all their cars except the yellow Prius Hybrid and the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Hybrid.People who do real off-roading, purchase used $30k CAD Toyota SUVs from 10 years ago (RAV4, 4runner, Sequoia) then modify it with gear worth another $10-15k CAD (bigger tires for ground clearance, better shock absorbers, lights, camp gear, first aid, tire deflater pumps, heaters, transmission refurbishments, etc.)99.5% of people who purchase a brand new 2026 Toyota 4Runner/Sequoia/Land Cruiser/RAV4/Tacoma/Tundra will ever use it for off-roading. These 2026 cars will be used in 2040s for off-roading by future generations.>>29131460>>29131470>>29131461>>29131483
>>29131542>So you can get to Costco continuously, many, many times over without a hitch until the frame rusts out. The new motors are already proving not as reliable as their older, more basic shit.Except even the rare jap v8 and v10s aren't exactly known for their reliability lately.
>>29131611>tags multiple people to make a "no true Scotsman" post while also admitting they're brokeShut up.
>>29131490*they were reliable and used to last decadesThey have the same TTV6 grenade that the Tundra has. They have the same rear diff that likes to self clearance it's self. The mini LC's chew through diffs and transfer cases just like the new gen Tacoma.
>>29131453>I wish they would offer a V8 for this thing.I don't know what to tell you, but if you want a V8 4x4 SUV, you should probably acquire one sooner than later. That segment is slowly going extinct and you can't buy new used cars as far as I know. With that said, there's lots of people that think they want to aspire to this type of vehicle, only to get sticker shocked at how much fuel a V8 Toyota drinks stock, and how it costs around 2x-3x to run and maintain compared to a crossover. That's more a testament to how much more efficient modern cars have gotten by sacrificing a lot of the capability that people didn't use in a SUV anyways.
>>29131611>CAD>Leaf>Abhorrent post
I just want a 4x4 SUV with a diesel V8 that's good for offroading, won't rust in half over the next decade and doesn't cost over 80 grand, is that too much to ask for
>>29131855Yes
>>29131855>I just want a 4x4 SUV with a diesel V8 that's good for offroadingAre diesel v8s everywhere on of road trails and parks? Why would you want a 2000lb engine for an offroader?Think about who even makes a v8 diesel. Ford, gm, and dodge. They have massive turbos and need a 3/4 ton chassis just to fit. Ever wonder why brodozers are rarely taken off road? I'm guessing you'll never consider a single cab 4x4 pickup to suit your wants because it's exactly what you described but horrifically bad for reasons you don't understand
>>29131943>Are diesel v8s everywhere on of road trails and parks?Outside of the US, yeah. Up until 2024 you could still buy a brand new Toyota SUV or pickup with a diesel V8.
>>29131855>diesel>good for off roadingLow gearing and a lack of revs means it's hard to get any momentum or wheelspeed. If diesel was good off road rock bouncers would be running diesel engines. Crawling is for babies.
>>29132060>The third world got these but not the US or CanadaI want off this fucking ride.
>>29132069We can get them new here in Canada. The only caveat is you need to own a mine and you can't drive them on public roadways.
>>29132069You can get one anywhere in the world that doesn't have a 25 year rule. There's an importer near me that has some stock.
>>29131493Thankfully Nissan can't afford to fuck up their pre 2020 lineup.
>>29132069You bought them for the 3rd world.Look into Toyota Gibraltar.
Just LS swap itWrenchlet
>>29132070>We can get them new here in Canada. The only caveat is you need to own a mine and you can't drive them on public roadways.Canada as usual, cucked by US influence. If Canada showed more independence the way Australia does, those cars would be road legal.
>>29132237too bad
>>29131514Previous gen GXs were V8s.
>>29131498>carburetor swapsthe whole interior will stop working since the ecu is either integrated with the bcm or is the bcm. you'll need to custom wire most of the interior to carb swap, and someone skilled enough to do that will probably also wire in an aftermarket ecu because carbs suck dick
>>29134220Aftermarket efi is cool and all until it fails because of some undiagnosable intermittent voltage spike and youre stuck with no replacement parts for 200 miles. If you hate carburetors you probably only ever had a quadrajet that was filled with dirt, a holley that sat for 15 years, or one of those ford VV things. Try an edelbrock or a motorcraft 2100 and get back to us.
>>29131493The new one has a twin turbo V6. The VR engines are not as shit compared to what Toyota offers now but still.
>>29134220I have an alternative solutionHowever I don't know how you'd manage timing.>>29134226Poorly running, warped quadrajet my beloved.
>>29131453Why? You want to get less MPG driving to Costco?
>>29131453>I want a V8!Okay but why? >I JUST DO OKAY?MANY SUCH CASES.
>>29134444No, I want a 478 cid gm v6 with a 1bbl carburetor. I want torque, I want the reliability of an anvil, I want it cheap
>>29134507BuT DonT YOu waNt ClEAn Air??!?
What is with this obsession with "offroading" vehicles in the NA market? How many people are really offroading to the point that we have "offroad" variants of shitbox CUVs like the nu-RAV4 and even the fucking Nissan Kicks. Why are retards spending money on this shit instead of making more comfortable cars with door handles
>>29134527Are you retarded?I know Europe is just one big concrete parking lot filled with Muslims and Africans but the USA is MASSIVE. It has dense forests, each containing hundreds of thousands to million+ acres. It has huge salt flats arid deserts, multiple massive mountain ranges that even the tallest mountains in Europe can't come close to. It has states with massive snowfall to the point where infrastructure can shut down for days at a time. The most famous off road trails are literally all in the United states
>>29134527>we are not like this in Germany!
>>29134536In Iowa we have gates on the highways and the snow/ice gets so bad that they sometimes straight up shut down the highways
>>29131498>>29131506The Grenadier sucks and is a performative mess. Just buy an old Defender.
>>29134584care to explain why?
>>29134586It doesn't know what it wants to be. INEOS should split it into two distinct models, not just marginally different trims. One is fully analog. No screen, no CarPlay, no bullshit, just keep it street legal with the air bags. The other is essentially like the Wrangler Sahara, give it nice seats, a decent screen, better sound system. The steering wheel is silly and the columns are too small. The aircraft cockpit centre console is trying too hard to look more serious than it is. The interior is too cheap for the base price, especially on the doors. There's no storage for emergency supplies in the trunk unlike e.g. on the L663 Defender 110 which can fit everything from an air compressor to first aid, blankets, food, etc., all underneath the trunk without slapping any stuff on the outside and affecting stock geometry. The engine is mostly fine, but I'm still suspicious of turbos. Rear seat space is paltry, especially for adults. It just feels like they're trying to tow the middle line too much and should lean in fully either to "this is the old Defender but street legal, that's it" or "this looks like the old Defender but has far more creature comforts. Do both. Right now they're doing neither.
>>29131514Pseudo-knower the post
>>29134527Most people just like the look of the off road trims with some A/T's. A lot of people are into camping/hiking/MTB these days and it's nice having some ground clearance and tire peace of mind to get to the more remote trailheads and campsites.
>>29134527Nobody is offroading a 100k new vehicle, it's a complete larp. Real offroaders usually have old 4x4 shitboxes they've modified.
>>29131493>>29134237Why do new cars look much fatter and larger, with a much higher belt line?
>>29134847"safety"
>>29131461You can even see the SFA there in the image>>29131460I actually dislike the facelift. Preface lift was the best looking IMO. Though I wouldn't want the 1VD myself. I can deal with the 2GD if it were manual. 1HZ is the one you actually want and fuck the axle track difference.
>>29132060Wouldn't be surprised if that one has in the 1GR (v6). Arabs seem to like that engine quite a bit. In Gibraltar today you can get them with the 1hz (i6 diesel)
>>29134226i hate carbs cause i live in the rockies and the altitude changes when just driving around make the car run like shit.
>>29135060You dont just run the jets at lean altitude and then when you get lower you pull a little bit of choke?
>>29135186yea but then you're down on power at lower altitude because you decided you wanted a carb instead of efi
>>29135060>>29135198https://thecarbcheater.com/I'm going to pick up one of these. Youtube guy was running his ford V8 off a lawn mower carb and getting like 30mpg or something
>>29131453you got a v8 on the prado that actually matters in the gx460
>>29131506I seriously don't understand what the appeal of CarPlay is, but GM has apparently lost billions due to not supporting it. I've tried it in my car, and the regular bluetooth connection is honestly better.
>>29136220>I seriously don't understand what the appeal of CarPlay is
>>29136220>don't understand what the appeal of CarPlay isspotify control without getting a ticket for messing around with your phone in stricter enforcement areas, live map data that doesn't cost anything more than you already pay your carrier (you can get live data on a lot of manufacturer software, but you'll pay for access past the first few years), you know it will be updated by a software company you trust enough to buy a phone with, and you don't have to log in or learn a new platform. it removes friction
>>29131943>Think about who even makes a v8 diesel.toyota makes them for the non-us market for their land cruisers.
>>29131611these 2026 cars won't last longer than 10 years and that's been generous
>>29136244Would
>>29137495with an exhaust they sound fucking sick for diesel v8s as well.was behind one a while back and my mate pokes his head out the window>give it a rev!!when the light goes green the guy takes off, and man it sounded glorious.

>>29139040>>29136253>>29136220Retarded millennials don't understand it, carplay is one of the best features for music and maps all at once
>>29139046>Zoomer can't comprehend not streaming something
if this came with the V6TT from the Tundra/GX550, I'd buy one in a heart beatI just can't in good conscience buy a $70k 6000lb SUV with a 2.4L engine
It's not that I want or need a V8, it's just that V8's on the market (or used to be on the market) tended to be older, more reliable engines. If there are ultra reliable NA v6 or 4 cylinder engines, then I take those
>>2913530740 mpg.The real trick would be to get a 3x2bbl manifold and mount the lawnmower carb+cheater in the middle, that way you'd get both acceptable power and insane gas mileage.I'll do that one day.
