Logo for Armstrong Siddeley. Yes, that is a sphynx.
    >>

What's more, the bonnet ornament version of the sphinx would sometimes be given wings and jet engines in reference to the company's involvement in making aircraft engines.

There are a couple of stories I could tell about the SD1, but it would be off the thread topic lol.

Pic is a logo used for Austin cars from the '50s to the late '60s in various guises. The coat of arms are those of the actual founder and namesake of the brand, Herbert Austin, after he was made Baron of Longbridge and also after having served as an Member of Parliament.

Interestingly further, William Morris used the coat of arms of Oxford for his company's logo, in reference to his company opening its first factory in Cowley in Oxford.

The wreath was dropped to symbolize cadillacs departure of full size body on frame luxury sedans. The ducks were removed because they did not want medieval styling for their turn of the millennium styling (00's)

I do agree, I wish those elements remained. If not the Merlettes then at least keep the wreath for the luxury.

It kinda works, they made it look like a caliper and an A to show how precision crafted their cars are, and it shows, the Honda Accords, TLs, from Ohio, the TSX from Japan still on the road because it's stupid well made, and companies can't even get their cars to run 10 years 100K+ trouble free now.
