    >LOLLL let's just take the lane bros, we can do 55mph on this thing and it's not even registered!

It should be legal to run these ""people"" over. If your vehicle isn't registered then you don't deserve protection by the Law.

It is because big corpos and governments cry when they can't make money off of you. It happened when everyone worked from home. They had a shit fit because people weren't stopping at stores and buying gas on their way to/from work. That's why there was a big push to get people back into the office.
    >Punk is only what I deem it is

I have two cars and motorcycles, and I also have an E-Bike. My town spent 5 million dollars making trails so it's a nice thing to use. Great for getting to places like local events. Just went to our local strawberry and covered bridge festival on it and it was great.
    >didn't have to look for parking
    >didn't have to get trapped trying to leave
    >got there quicker because the trails cut through a bunch of stuff
Also, just kind of fun to ride around too. It's not a replacement for my cars or bikes, but it's a nice thing for those living in urban to suburban environments.

we already have a word for this, and it's "motorcycle"
but I agree, motorcycles are great, and are shown to significantly reduce traffic
these new ebikes that are really just small unregistered motorcycles
I think it would be good if we treated similar gas machines, say 50cc and under scooters and motorcycles, similarly, and didn't require registration, but did require the ebikes to have lights and turn signals, no matter the power output
    >>
    >>29122150
    >>29122154
Just make it so that if you're on an ebike that was modified to go faster than it can before it's classified as a motorcycle and requires registration and insurance, you'll be always at fault if you have an accident

    Wrong
    >>

you could also just ride a motorcycle without registering it and run red lights. hell you could do that in a car. not like these 45mph 5kw “ebikes” are any less illegal.

At least in the states ive lived in <50cc scooters still need lights and signals. Of course its different everywhere

    >>29122192
this is already the law, if they can go over 28mph they're motorcycles, in most states Thats the class iii system. Other states are more restrictive, many of them are 20mph under motor alone, with weight limits, but I think 28mph under it's own power is the most permissive any state gets. It's a tough enforcement challenge, because who knows how fast that e-bike can go? and even if it came from the manufacturer in compliance, jail breaking them is child's play. That's why I say anything with power should have lights and turn signals, at a minimum.

    >>29122290

where i live even bikes need head and tail lamps after dark, but scoots need them on all the time because my province is full of boomers who shid and fard if people don't drive around with their highs on 24/7 for "visibility" so there's laws manding DRLs are on even when it's bright out

anyway scoots require DRLs but not turn signals. it's very dumb

    >It's a tough enforcement challenge, because who knows how fast that e-bike can go?
who knows how fast that vespa can go? not even with mods -- Vespa® makes both a 50 and a 250 that outwardly look very similar. i think they even make a 500. without intimate knowledge of the brand, how do you tell?

To some extent this is what registration and inspection are intended to solve, because when you go to the shop for the registration they can check to see if you've made certain obvious changes. Of course you can revert changes just for inspection, but at the end of the day there isn't any law which is impossible to skirt. Its a question of what any given political community is comfortable with, and the trade offs theyre willing to make.
For me, I'd require registration for every vehicle, and enforce speed limits by average velocity with numerous cameras in urban and dense suburban areas, while removing speed limits entirely in less dense suburban and rural areas.
Then whether you're bicycling like a jackass at 20mph on a sidewalk or on on the street on any kind of machine faster than we judge is safe, you'll at least have a financial incentive to behave. Many people would see this enforcement mechanism as needlessly invasive of privacy, to the extent there is an expectation of privacy in public.
    So, trade offs.

    >Then whether you're bicycling like a jackass at 20mph on a sidewalk or on on the street on any kind of machine faster than we judge is safe, you'll at least have a financial incentive to behave
counterpoint: outright motorcyclists right now already hide their plates and no one gives a shit, and theres tons of niggers in clapped out altimas with fake or no plates. all registration does is enforce a surveillance state that doesnt even have the courtesy of being competent (how many hit n run stories where the person hit gets nothing because the hitter is never identified?)

also there is already financial incentive to behave in the form of fines (you don't need a license to be fined, it turns out even pedestrians can commit crimes!!!) and if roadwork wasn't LosTech we would simply have roads that incentivize or disincentivize certain behaviours. e.g. you only very rarely hear of Muh Surrons on commuter trails through or near parks because those trails are physically too tight to wring them out and they're cluttered with pedestrians so the hooligan is thwarted by turns simply demanding too low of speeds to have fun on that machine. but cyclists love them because they present a challenge to maintain an appropriate speed. but in longer straighter rails-2-trails types, ATVs and Talarias abound because they are long and straight and population density is low and thus they are ideal for banging at 70kmh.

    >>
    >>29122971
We should vaporize motorcyclists who hide their plates. Obviously given my other opinions I think we should strongly enforce these laws. We are too lenient in enforcing the law, but we are far far too lenient in enforcing traffic law. Even people who behave normally most of the time descend into utter anti social behavior on the road. Putting up with it is a choice, since we have the technical ability to crack down.

You should be killed and traffic laws should all be revoked

the problem is that youre a boomer brianed moron who thinks MUH REGISTRATION will actually prevent retards from being retards. even people in properly plated cars do all kinds of retarded shit all the time. it's a tax collection mechanism, not a safety one

in an ideal world people would simply be not retarded

in a practical world roads would be designed to only allow a certain speed and maneuvers (eliminate jug handles/right on red/trees planted to shield sidewalks from traffic/bike or light vehicle lanes with narrow entries to prevent cars getting on/off, etc)

in the world we live in its a feudal hellhole and might makes right but anglos are obsessed with "decorum" so karen and tyler just roll over curbs and planters in lifted truggs instead of having automatic shotguns fired at them for their insolence
    >>
    >>29123855
if they do something retarded in a registered car we can go to their house and enforce serious consequences. we can impound vehicles and summarily beat the owners. we dont have to live like this.

license and registration requirements are an unconstitutional infringement on the right to travel and access public areas, and I'm not such a bucket-crab that I would spite someone for figuring out a way to stick it to the man. even if the method with which they do it is faggy and gay, like an ebike.

you can do all of these things to unregistered vehicles. you've never had a skateboard confiscated before? smdh
    >>
    >>29127036
I think we should introduce bicycle licenses. You can get one starting from 9 years old, mandatory from 12 onwards, taught in schools, makes you beholden to simple laws that boil down to "don't be an asshat". The problem is not that they can stick it to the man, but that they start sticking it in every hole, and in sex world that would be called rape and get you vanned.

    >It should be legal to run these ""people"" over.
Legal ebikes are left alone in my area. But there are basically zero "Surron look" ebikes because 100% of them get pulled over by the police, ticketed, and then taken to impound since it is illegal to have it on public roads without driver license (motor bike endorsement), license plate, and valid registration, AND insurance.

The main thing that needs to be implemented is the AGE=16+ rule for all ebikes. Otherwise, all those obnoxious kids riding without regard to the "Rules of the Road" keeps on causing problems for the rest of us.

not only is that not how liability works in actual gubberment court but if you're on a shitty ebike, any lawyer worth his salt will tell you that you are not getting that million dollar settlement because the money is simply not there (even if you win the case, how do they pay?) and in most cases, they are probably dead anyway

I can't speak for other states. But here if your ebike can go over 20 mph, then it's legally an electric motorcycle. You need a license, registration, and insurance.
If you don't have that then you're riding illegally.
    >>
    >>29136112
    >im shocked the wheel didnt bend
ebike rims are typically extra thick metal extruded as double-walled rims. They are also sometimes referred to as double-rims. This forms a hollow-space boxlike space between the two layers.

ebikes use these since their wheels are expected to have extra loading not just from carried cargo but also from the naturally-heavier weight of the ebike frame. This extra weight means that road impacts and vibrations are transmitted as a large momentum spike of force into the wheel rims. Thus their great strength is necessary as compared to a traditional bicycle.
